Pros: Everything !!!
Cons: Nothing
10.0 Excellent
Pros: This is a cracker of a hotel. Set in a beautiful location on the side of the reservoir. The only downside being that we didn't get to sit outside and enjoy the view as the weather had been so bad on the day of our stay. The upside being the picture windows still enabled us to soak it all up. Lovely well appointed rooms. Pedro the owner is an absolute star and speaks brilliant English. He also cooked up the best pigs cheeks that I've ever eaten. We would definitely stop at this hotel again if we were in the area.
8.8 Excellent
Pros: The location was superb, the host was most charming and very knowledgeable about the area. We took his suggestions about a couple of places. We were so happy we did, they were amazing. Dinner was fine, a few choices available. Breakfast was Continental but with plenty of fresh choices.
Cons: The seating area whilst you wait for dinner is quite small. We had no worries as we were talking to a delightful dutch couple. But space would have have been tight for a large party. There are however, tables to sit out prior to dinner.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: This was our third stay at Hotel Araz and I am sure we will stay again as it is a convenient distance from Santander port when arriving by ferry in the evening. The setting is peaceful, with a view of the lake created from the damming up of the Ebro. The owners offer a home-cooked evening meal with several choices, all delicious, and a pleasant breakfast in the morning. Our room was spacious and comfortable with a good shower and we always sleep well.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Everything
Cons: Nothing
9.5 Excellent
Pros: Location in very rural setting with views across the lake. Room was very good with very good bathroom. Last hotel in Spain before ferry from Santander. We had an evening meal and breakfast at the hotel which were shall we say different, when in Spain..... The dining area was functional coupled with a small social area. Watching a fox skulking about whilst we were at breakfast
Cons: The address entered into the Garmin 660 took us a mile away. Found it better using phone navigation. Sloping loose gravel car park (we were on motorcycles) Although the rooms were very good the exterior was very tired looking and some parts of the property were in decline. We ended up with a double room each as housekeeping had not been completed on twin rooms, this was late afternoon.
9.5 Excellent
Pros: Extremely nice and hospitable hosts, very informative and entertaining. When available you should really try their homemade honey. A treat!
8.0 Excellent
Pros: Views from the "pods" across the lake were good.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: This property is run very efficiently by Peter and his wife, whom are both wonderful hosts. It is evident that they have put a lot of hard work and resources into this property which makes for a very pleasurable stay. The views from the the communiual living room are spectacular, looking across the lake and over to the hills. The food is simple yet delicious and beautifully prepared and presented. We only only stayed a single night as we were onto a final destination but I could see us returning and staying longer to enjoy the local countryside. The hotel has a light rail station to the front which is useful for trips to local places. We travelled on a motorcycle and the local roads were empty and a very enjoyable ride. Probably in all my years of travelling I found Araz to be the most genuinely welcoming and relaxing accommodation. Well done Peter.
Cons: Nothing.

Pros: We had the Tower Room which was very special. Our ferry was 4 hours late and the owners waited up for us until after midnight. They even offered us a meal on arrival. The albergue is very close to the motorway and easy to find, but is in a very quiet rural location. Perfect for en-route ferry stops as well as holidays.

Cons: Nothing to moan about

9.5 Excellent
Pros: Nice interiors and the staff were friendly. We muddled through with ordering an evening meal which was very good and would come again if in the area.
Cons: Nothing in particular. Parking turned out to be in the street, but that wasn't too problematic.
8.3 Excellent
Pros: Great location, nice rooms
Cons: Quite and not much atmosphere
9.5 Excellent
Pros: Good hotel in a location just out of the centre of the town. Large room with separate TV and sitting area. The room was overlooking the main road but the double glazing and shutters worked very well to keep any noise out. Breakfast was plain but plentiful. Great value for money for a hotel in a quiet town.
Cons: Floors creaked a bit.
9.5 Excellent
Pros: The food was excellent although the service was bit eccentric. Room very comfortable had a tradional feel. Close to town centre but quiet
8.0 Excellent
Pros: The room was good but the breakfast was continental, tea, coffee, fresh orange juice, toast, cake and fruit. Fine as long as you don't expect full English.

Pros: Really lovely room...warm and comfortable
Cons: Nothing to dislike
9.3 Excellent
Pros: General hotel and accessibility and comfort very good.
Cons: No lights in corridors when we arrived on 2nd floor, couldn't see room numbers. Switches dis not turn lights on. No plugs to sink or bath. Produced by reception when I said my husband,, aged 86, would not be safe to climb in bath to shower.
9.3 Excellent
Pros: Restaurant dinner was excellent and only 12 Euro for 3 courses, wine and water. I recommend the large prawns for starter.

10.0 Excellent
Pros: Who knew there were dolmens straight out of "Asterix"? Although Obelisk would have no difficulty with most of these. It was wonderful to see so many Romanesque churches but visit the Interpretation Centre in Villacantid first. It's amazing to see how they were changed from the 12th century onwards. Another site not to be missed is Juliobriga with Roman forum and Romanesque church probably built on site of Roman Temple perhaps Jupiter.
Cons: Who knew there were dolmens straight out of "Asterix"? Although Obelisk would have no difficulty with most of these. It was wonderful to see so many Romanesque churches but visit the Interpretation Centre in Villacantid first. It's amazing to see how they were changed from

Pros: A very nice 42 inch tv, excellent wifi, a modern bathroom, room was clean.
Cons: The breakfast was the same everyday, there was no choice.
3.8 Mediocre
Pros: Room was well furnished and the bedding of a good qualiy.
Cons: Traveled all day and in my room unable to get the walk in shower to work, no water. No plug in the basin. Our friends room had a bath and it was filthy with a dirty towel lying on the bottom. We decided not to have the breakfast as we were dubious about the cleanliness. There was no one there to make breakfast at 8.00am anyway.

Pros: The room was spacious, modern and comfortable. The downstairs restaurant was amazing. Great value and the best meal I've had in Spain.

Pros: Great room Good spainish food Good price Excellent host
Cons: Nothing
6.3 Good
Pros: Rooms are clean and tidy and are a good size , this was our third visit to this property but I’m sorry to say it will be our last. The owner and his wife who welcomed bikers ( he even covered them up due to the rain ) are no longer there .So instead of the lovely home cooked food we had previously we were faced with a plate of mushrooms for starters and half a dozen meatballs that were tasteless for the main course, the waitress/ bartender couldn’t really be bothered, even when we arrived it was as if we were an inconvenience. We were due to stay another night at the end of our tour but cancelled and stayed elsewhere.
Cons: Miserable waitress
10.0 Excellent

8.3 Excellent
Pros: Comments reviewed prior to booking were accurate. Bedrooms clean but in need of refurbishment. Easy access off the motorway after disembarking from Santander ferry. Although staff were very friendly and spoke good English, staffing level in bar / restaurant area in the evening, made it difficult / impossible to order food and drinks. Fortunately alternative facilities across the road. Plenty of off-street parking. Breakfast good value for money.
Cons: More staff in restaurant / bar area. One person taking orders, serving food and drinks not good enough for a customer service facility.
