Food was good value in the restaurant, but the service a bit hit and miss. The room was large and well appointed. Staff were helpful. The lounge was lovely. Surpisingly little ground to enjoy. Some carpets looked like they needed a good shampooing. There was a small area of mould/peeling paint in above our shower.
Friendly, efficient staff. Comfortable room. Very good dinner. Tea and coffee facilities in the room. Free wifi. Good location for local countryside, nature and walks. None
Just one night, at an evening meal when only 3 tables were being occupied, the service was very slow. It took 1.5 hours to have a 2 course meal!
Excellent atmosphere, friendly staff, good food (not excellent), Mousquito net was not functional
.close to the air port and nice place on the mountain
Quiet location, big rooms. Very basic breakfast, but OK for the price.
Near the airport and well located to explore the east and north-east of Madeira. Very nice building. Comfortable rooms with free wi-fi access. Good quality of breakfast buffet and dinner. Easy to find following the directions to the golf course. Good value for money
Excellent staff and amenities. The room was spacious and clean. The restaurant could stay opne a bit longer as ir currently closes at 10pm
Excellent position and junior staff, very clean, good breakfast, lovely surroundings and pool looked nice No coffee or drinking water in room, no outside door key and too many notices forbidding things. Musty smell in main hallway and not easy to move around queitly in the hotel, which can disturb you.
Staff attentive and very helpful - good value for money - village location - room and establishment very clean - very relaxing - good continental breakfast. Very little - facilities a little limited but it is a small establishment. Dinner in the restaurant was perfectly OK but village restaurants were slightly cheaper and better
not much-food acceptable Cold damp feeling to small rooms.Plugs removed to discourage showers!Restaurant also cold.Poorest hotel we sayed at-definitely to be avoided especially in cooler months
Beautiful surrounding area, ideal for walking/hiking It would have been good to be forwrned that the swimming pool was out of action
Good location in east Madeira and not far away from the airport. Nice and helpful staff. Breakfast is good. We stayed there in November and there was a "musty" smell in the room. The hotel is a bit in the hills/clouds, so the humidity was high despite of the switched-on electrical heater. They should run central heating to avoid that. The restaurant is OK for the first time, but on the second day we wanted to go out somewhere else - the menu selection seemed quite limited.
Convenient location Dangerous exit onto road. Room was musty and damp.
Pleasant gardens friendly staff Cold room damp bedding
What a view! Though the airport and the expressway are near, you are down the cliff and don't hear them much. All rooms face the ocean and have a view of the desert islands cliffs. The nice tile floors and furnishings evoke "classy beach house." The service is outstanding at the front desk and in the peaceful, lovely restaurant.
the weather, the room, the food, the staff, the parrott
beautiful room (sea side) very rich breakfast staff everytime very friendly and helpful
Nice bedroom, lovely pool area, lovely a la carte portugese evening. Very hilly location once out of hotel grounds, very expensive drinks (alcholic) in hotel bars (not good measures either).
We were welcomed by the excellent staff at Reception who advised us of Special Offers in the Restaurants, Hairdressers and Massage. Our room was large and airy. The onsite shop was very handy as there are not any shops in the immediate vicinity.Near the Hotel, at the end of the Promenade, was a sheltered place for swimming in the sea - Beside that was a black sand area surrounded by boulders which formed a sheltered pool for those not into the deep! On the 2nd week of our holiday there was a "Festival Gastronomique" on the Promenade - local Snack Bars and Restaurants served food. Great fun. The air conditioning really just moved the air around rather than refreshing it.
we recently can to four veiws oasis on a mother daughter holiday, we realy enjoyed our stay and found it verry relaxing, the buffet style breakfast was excellent catering for all needs and more. The hotel staff were verry helpfull and accomadating.
The efficiency, coutesy & friendliness of the staff. The location of the hotel was perfect for me: close enough to Funchal to visit regularly, but far enough to get away from the crowds. Direct access to the promenade is good.
View from room that was asked to pay for hotel's tourist map
Early departure - nos staff to assist with breakfast althought food was left. Swimming pool opening times restrictive - closed at 7:30pm, not sure why because it wasn't staffed (indoor or outdoor)
Quiet location One or other lifts out of order for a few days
A very good hotel (as well as the restaurant), with a beautiful view, and extremely silent: even if it is really closed to the airport, You can't hear a sole plane! Big rooms and very friendly staff. Remember to rent a car: You can go only in Santa Cruz by foot, or use taxis (60€ a return trip to Funchal).
beautiful location, never heard an aeroplane at all, very attentive staff. Also very fair cancellation fee as friends missed connection flight out and had to fly over to Madeira early next morning. Thank you.
This was a lovely hotel. Beautiful rooms, friendly staff and lovely service. I would highly recommend. In contrast to our booking at Quinta Da Penha De Franca everything was as promised on the booking.com website.
Nice location on the seaside with a beautiful sea view. Very comfortable and large rooms. Very relaxing and quite. Good price. Close to the airport. Funchal is a 20 minutes by car.
Professional staff and still naturally pleasent, excellent service, clean rooms. Delicious food in the restaurant. Calm place and relaxing environment (proximity of the airport absoultely not a problem). Definitely great value for money. Some people might find bothersome the fact that some rooms are located on the ground floor.Car is a must if you want to spend more days.
Situated in peaceful, relaxing enviroment despite it being so close to the airport.Noise from airport traffic almost non existent. Extremely friendly, happy staff. Excellent food and accomadation. We like everything about this hotel and will not hesitate to recommend it to family and friends. No
Very nice small hotel, beautiful rooms all with sea view. Close to the airport and via rapida (you need a car, but in all cases a car is recommended to discover Madeira) and very quiet. Only the pool area is a little bit noisy, elsewhere you'll only hear the sea. The service is wonderful, very individual and custom-tailored. The restaurant is of highest standard at reasonable price. We really enjoyed our short stay. A perfect place to relax, a delightful experience. Strongly recommended!
Beautiful location, very quiet, good snorkelling by the sea level pool, all staff efficient, friendly and informative.
Simply top class, very peaceful
Nice location on the seaside with a beautiful sea view. Very comfortable and large rooms. Very relaxing and quite. Good price. Close to the airport. Funchal is a 20 minutes by car.
Beautiful setting, lovely gardens, good food, spacious accommodation and good access to walking routes Reception staff could have been more helpful.A residents'lounge would be an advantage and Spa prices were very expensive
good infrastructure, beautiful botanical surroundings, nice swimming pool area and spa (expensive, but good quality), calm, situated approx. 20 mins from Funchal, nice view over atlantic. would be comfortable to have more than one shuttle bus per day from hotel to Funchal. The restaurants available at the hotel are quite expensive. But there a nice local restaurants, approx. 5 mins from hotel. Round the corner bakery for breakfast.
The gardens n/a
The garden, the view and the architectural layout
Great location 10 minutes from Funchal and the nearest sandy beach in Machico. Really quiet and waking up to those views over the Atlantic is breathtaking. Lovely for couples wanting a romantic retreat!
The beautiful garden setting of the hotel with an abundance of flowers and sea view. The village of Canico with bakery, restaurants, supermarkets etc was in easy walking distance. There is a regular bus service from outside the hotel into Funchal. The supply of bathing towels was much appreciated. A hire car made the holiday much more pleasant. We considered that the prices of the breakfast and restaurant meals were high.
Fantastic gardens, lovely apartment, good location Patronising front desk staff (apart from the very friendly and helpful Marco). Car park small, difficult to manoeuver round and charged for.
The setting, the location, the staff were helpful and friendly
The garden, the room, the beautiful view over the ocean. kind room- and serving people. none
Just the relaxing atmosphere and the friendliness of the people, the spa was beautiful and the staff friendly.
Simpathy of hotel staff. Lacation close to see side Everithing was paied. To go to the spa, you had to pay, to acess the internet you had to pay. Other hotels in the area are the same price and all is included. As I am traveling in business, unless the hotel chances policy, mainly as internet acess concerns, I will never stay there again.
Very friendly staff. Immaculate clean room. Good food and excellent breakfast.
The location in a small village. New construction. Beautifully appointed and very comfortable. Price was an excellent value. no
We found the whole atmosphere to be good. We liked the restaurant staff greeting us and remembering our names and room numbers. My partner has a mushroom allergy and the staff made a point to tell us, unasked, daily, which food included these. The chambermaid was so efficient as to be unbelievable. The food was good considering the numbers catered for. We did speak to one German guest and was surprised that he did not rate the hotel highly. We were thoroughly pleased with the whole experience and would use the hotel again without hesitation and would certainly recommend it to others. We are a friendly couple and perhaps the staff reflected this. No,No,No. Perhaps the hotel could approach the rather surly local taxi drivers.
Your best asset is your staff. They were unfailingly polite, helpful and friendly. Everything I asked for was obtained. Nothing was too much trouble for them, even to the extent that the receptionist telephoned a number of shops to find something I needed. There was nothing not to like. We have been before and we will come again. Some may criticise the occasional airplane flyover but this was no bother to us.
superb breakfast. Hot coffee even !!!
wonderful views of the sea, clean, well equipped rooms, air conditioned, excellent outside pool, breakast fresh fruit salads. Good internet connection and you can book shorter times in your room i.e 1hr for €3, staff very courtious and friendly. Not a fan of buffet dinners every night and there's not much else locally for eating out in the evening. No evening entertainment but this could be as it was end of Sept that we went.
Good seaside location close to cafe,s and bars, Lack of entertainment during the evenings
The Health Club is very good, wonderful massage. Worth trying. Closeness to the airport is definitely a plus. The air conditioning in the bedroom was not working properly.
A beautiful relaxing hotel. Couldn't fault anything. Would definitely go back again.
It is very close to the airport, so that one can take a very late airplane to Funchal.
The views of Machico are very pretty. There is enough choice of restaurants within walking distance of the hotel serving local food. The staff were very efficient and friendly. Although the room looked clean it certainly didn't smell so. We had booked for 2 weeks but left after 5 days as we could no longer put up with the drain smells coming up the pipes. I even bought scented candles and liquid detergents to pour down the drains to try and disguise the smell to no avail, we then decided to leave the hotel. Your website says the hotel was recently refurbished but I think they forgot to renew their drainage system! Also, the cleaners don't seem to realise that although they're working, guests are there on holiday trying to have a rest, they seemed to enjoy having loud chats to each other accross the corridors in front of our room doors nice and early in the morning.
great location, next to the beach and close to the town centre. Good views and nice pool. Used by package holiday tour operators. Not much sound proofing, rooms could be noisy.
cheap, quite good breakfast loud, could hear everything from the neighbours, woke up from planes starting/landing at the nearby airport
central location in Machico, close to airport lacking insulation of noise from surrounding rooms
the view, breakfast
1) Enjoyed alive music in one of the evening in the hotel hall. 2) Close to the hotel was the peace of sandy beach..3) Close to the airport. The windows shall be cleaned more often - it looks really dirty:(
What I liked mostly during my short stay in this hotel: the views. This hotel is designed to treat the visitors on some great views anywhere you are (the rooms, the restaurant, even the glass elevator offers great views!)
I likes the sea view from my room. The room was cleaned regularly and the facilities were good although basic. The location of the hotel was excellent and we could easily travel around. If the rooms had air conditioning system it would be better because at nights it got hot and the sound of the waves was a problem for sleeping!
The hotel was well organized and I had the change to relax a lot because of the plenty physical body activities. I couldn't find shampoo in the bathroom, there was only one product for body and hair, a four star hotel has to provide nice different products for body and hair.
The gym/sports facilities are very good. The sauna/spa area is very useful after a day of walking. Swimming in the sea. Breakfast is very good. Facilities are rather spread out and involve crossing public areas.
The room was perfect and the view was very good There was a lot of olg germans, no young people at all. I also recomend to make tea/coffee facilities in the room free
The variety of activities supplied by the hotel. A kitchenette would have been perferred and/or a fridge for our use as opposed to a stocked mini-bar.
sea view, staff service very old furniture, ancient leaking shower in the room, tough pancakes, awful coffee and half-done omelette for breakfasts
very friendly and good value for money. Would go again
Probably one of the best holiday resorts I've been to. Beautiful location, excellent service, wonderful clean rooms and any facility available that one could wish for.
hotel staff is very competent and very friendly, location for sports activities is great (hiking, mountain biking, gym, diving ...), breakfast is very good
Hotel location, breakfast and health center. Furniture and plumbing!!! Hotel definitely needs new furniture and renewal of plumbing accessories.
The room was comfortable with a lovely sea view. The breakfast was really good with lots of different choices on offer.
Perfect location directly on the rocks in the ocean. Great terraces to enjoy sunshine, very clean water, excellent for diving. We had a large and well equipped appartment with superb balcony and the ever best seaview. A place one shouldn't miss.
the landscape everything ok
The quietness of the area and of the room overlooking the sea.The swimming pool and the courtesy bus, and the proximity of excellent cafes and restaurants in the area. Joana one of the receptionists was particularly helpful and had an excellent knowledge of the area. A meagre selection of English language TV channels.
Pleasant, clean hotel with exellent gym and leisure facilities. Breakfast was excellent and plentiful, only had the one night. Reception staff were slow to resolve mix up over booking, they had us down for a weeks stay whereas we only booked 1 night.
Splendid view over the ocean, big hotel but quiet nevertheless.
Too many stairs
Position overlooking the sea. All facilities available at sister hotel Rocamar. Use of courtesy bus to Funchal. Location to all local restaurants and public transport In comparison to nearby hotels it is in need of a refurbishment. Supervision in gym and pool area could have been better. The allowing of nude bathing in the sauna was undesirable to which my wife took exception to.
big clean room, lovely view, very good breakfast, helpful staff. very poor buffet at evening meal
The rooms are so huge, clean and very comfortable. Facility is perfect....sauna, jacuzzi and pool are perfect.
The room was made everyday even when we left the room quite late The staff is not really kind and it looks like they don't really care, the breakfast was very limited: every morning the same things and not a big selection. If you want an advise don't make any call from the phone in the room: the bill could be exstremely expensive.
i was really disappointed from hotel staff at reception, they are totally unhelpful. And also, they have ONLY ONE eletric outlet in every room, even in the room for 4 persons, That´s it really bad.
quiet relaxing. good restaurants by hotel. good breakfast.good value evening meals beginning to show signs of aging
Easy access to main roads. Quiet. I stayed at room 4211, It was really old furnitured and has to be refurbished urgently; it seemed as unused for many months!
The price and the location! I didn't like the room location (too far away from the restaurnt and lobby) and also was in 3rd floor without elevator!!
Breakfast and indoor are very good. The furniture and of rooms are needed to be renovated. The pillows are unusable.
the swimingpool and the view no elevators....and we have a baby.
great location and amazing view overcrowded breakfast room, awful pillows
- breakfast buffet although very classical - bathroom because recently renovated - kind personnel - very noisy hotel ; no soundproofing - ground floor room with balcony: no privacy hence balcony not used - kitchenette but no serious equipment to cook: no pan, no frying pan for instance - small bedroom - too small twinbeds - old and tasteless decoration as result: after 3 nights, went to another hotel
Relaxed atmosphere in the hotel and the proximity to the local shops and restaurants Distance to our room with suitcases
we had the whole house to ourselves, it was easy io imagine being lord and lady of the manor in a time gone by I know it was november but the house was cold damp and smelt very musty. We stayed at 5 other similar places on the trip, all aired. I'll go back...........if it's August.
The quiteness, the countryside and the authenticity.
Location-we had an exc ellent room-staff were pleasant, helpful and efficient No
Good rooms with excellent sea views. Good live bands at night. Coffee at breakfast undrinkable and fairly borderline breakfast
Quiet room, well furnished with spectacular sea view. Reception staff particularly helpful.Fully equipped kitchen, but a pity this was not mentioned on the information provided beforehand. As a result we were unable to make full use of these facilities. Coutesy bus into Funchal.
The hotel is beautiful, the location is great, Umberto the manager was brilliant. the food was a little pricey but other than that it was superb. Only one member of staff was unhelpful even slightly rude, Lourdes Silva.
The hotel was very welcoming, informal and big enough to have good facilities (lots of loungers, use of pool sauna steam etc) bu tntimate enough to get around easily. The breakfast buffet was very good with an excellent choice from fresh fruit to fully cooked. I would have preferred a double bed instead of 2 singles pushed together and the mattress was a little soft.
nothing so we didnt stay there on arrival, no water in swimming pool, very cold austere atmosphere and over developed area view of sea was an inch above concrete balcony rate kitchen could be bonus to some.- 5 out of 10
The room was much better than expected. We got a great sea view and much more space than we had expected. No
The place, it was on a very quiet zone, with no huge traffic the bathtub was old and broken. i asked for one double bed and the got me a twin, but the curious was that they put over both beds a coverlet from a double bed. they didn't changed the bed sheets on all weekend. beyond the fact that they put 2 sheets on horizontal on the bed because they are small. the room was side by side with the restaurant kitchen ventilation, so noise is guarantee all day . All facilities like Jacuzzi, sauna and Turkish bath it's on Royal Orchid and not on Roca Mar, what makes it not very pleasant traveling throw many passageways to reach every one of the announced facilities that it's not on the booked hotel. Will not come again on this one... for sure
We liked the location and views. Breakfast was good. Car parking was difficult. We would have liked coffee making facilities in our room.
Amazing uninterrupted sea views from the hotel (and hotel room) no food after 10pm
We have just returned from Madeira and had a wonderful time at the White Waters. The hotel staff were very friendly and efficient, nothing was too much trouble. The standard of cleanliness was second to none. Also the Cappucinos and Cakes were excellent.
No air condition, weekends quite loud according to nearby disco
staff friendly, very good value for money
Really nice designed new hotel with an excellent location in the old city center of Machico. The hotels restaurant offers nice dishes but you also can find local places to go out eating in 5 minutes walking. If you dont want to stay in busy Funchal this city and hotelis a very good choice.
We stayed at White Waters for two nights and had a fantastic stay. The staff were friendly and very approachable. The hotel was immaculate and very modern. The food was also very good value for money. We would certainly consider staying there again and reccomending the hotel to our friends!
It was stunning. We had the best room in the hotel. The staff was very helpful and friendly. The Hotel is designed in a very modern style and it is very clean. It is located in the center of Machico nearby the beach. Breakfast could be more diverse though it was very plentiful
Great location and nice clean hotel. Thei nternet was not working.or could not be used.
It's modern and clean, staff is really friendly and helpful.
The last 2 years I have been booking different hotels with bookings.com, but this quality/price was the best ever. Modern, new, clean and cheap. I stayed there 1 night, as the idea was to have the first night cheap and then the second night we went to a 5 star hotel (3 times more expensive) and after all me and my girlfriend liked the white waters more!
Our plane was leaving very early, so we decided to spend night at Machico - 5 min by taxi or bus from the airport. As we paid only 35euro, we did not expect much of it. However, we were pleasantly surprised. Location was excellent, design of the rum was impressive and we took advantage of the lovely terrace. Girl on the reception was very nice, we appreciated her not to make as wait, as it is usually on check in, but send us to the rum, while she fixed all documents. OVerall, we loved it and would return, since Machico is way better than buzy Funchal.
Good breakfast, large room, bath, near seafront & restaurants, Toilet flush didn't always work, and toilet seat kept falling off
central and cheap noisy at night
Location in the very center of Machico, very close to the beach There are lots of restaurants right below the hotel, hence always the smell of burnt fish, meat, grease, etc. At the time of our stay there was a food festival week with music half of the night, because stage was right across the street of our room. Even with all the windows shut it was impossible to sleep. No A/C. Pre-payment required upon check-in.
The staff was very friendly, although it was sometimes difficult to communicate in English. The location is right next to the ocean, overlooking the bay of Machico. A lot of restaurants and shops around. Because of the restaurants, there was a smell of food most of the time. Noisy airco outlets around, making an annoying sound.
Convenient for airport, small town a change from Funchal, economic rate, pleasant restaurant with local food.
