We only stayed one night but the service was excellent, the staff very polite and helpfull and the food was excellent. The room was ideal and very comfortable and the bath ideal after a very tiring day
location / calm
Nice location, nice spa. Small insects in the bath room
good no room service
Dinner in restaurant was excellent Location in valley very dark and as residents one had to pay to use the pool also very quiet
Lovely surroundings and a good wiev from the room Coffee from machine at breakfast. Suggestion: buy a Nespresso Machine
the 1692 restaurant had was of a low standard of service and the food was of poor quality
Everything - quiet location, peaceful setting...we were upgraded to a suite ( at no extra cost), on arrival - it was superb! Availability of Spa treatments - some were booked out or unavailable.
Above all else - the tranquility and beauty of the place.
The facilities were of a very good standard, and the food was also very good There was very little parking available
Excellent view, relaxing atmosphere, comfort No
Beautiful surroundings, peace, very helpful management
the views are wonderfull
Nice welcome, hotel manager speaks many languages and is very nice with clients. The place is amazing, and the swimming pool is delightful. Rooms are clean, quiet large, and with a rather big balcony with view on the valley/swimming pool
Very nice hotel tucked away in the Monchique Montains. It's a beautifully designed hotel with spacious rooms and an excellent service. Certainly recommended for people who like modern architecture. The views from the balcony or stunning. Highly recommended for the price.
Dont expect a classic 4 stars hotel. But if you are in the area certainly a good choice and good value. Its a quite place with nice view of the valley from every room and a swimming pool on the roof ok to relax a bit. Above all the owner is a great character, very busy (sometime looks frustrated how busy he is!) and very friendly. He also runs the restaurant opposit to the hotel that gets packed up over lunch time. The entire place is on sale for 2M. I am sure the owner will make that point!
The hotel was located in a very quiet area and quiet close to a selection of restraurants. Parking spaces were limited and this could cause a problem at busy times. There was no food available on the evenings which was a bit inconvenient if you arrived in the evening.
I actually liked the slightly tired building, not too overpowering and easy to relax in.The staff were friendly and very helpful. The views and environs were stunning, and the restaurant only 500m away was briliiant. The pool was great [if you skim it first]. The outside furniture needs to be renewed, including pool furniture.
Though being pretty far away from civilization (40km seem like 120km in those roads), the location is pretty spectacular, and the view from the room is amazing. The rooms are spacious and clean, and breakfast is above average in the area.
Location, size and layout of room, attention of staff Poor quality breakfasts compared to other similar hotels, limited choice in evening menu. Saved by several good local restaurants. Car essential.
The food at the restaurant and the friendly staff. Large clean bathroom. View. The pool could have had more sun loungers for guests.
Superb locale and orientation with a southward view over the coast, the cities of Portimnão and Lagos, the estuary of the Arade and the Ria de Alvor. Cozy atmosphere of the common spaces. Quality well under what is expected from a 4 star Inn. Poor hygiene on room and toilet. Air conditioning unable to heat up the room, telephone did not work. No tv or mini bar in the room. No hot water in the shower in the morning (unacceptable!). Satellite tv reception in the common room recently disconnected. You can clearly see this inn has entered a decayment cycle and needs urgent renovation.
The view is absolutely astonishing and the location is brilliant. Mountain in a very short reach to the sea, can easily benefit of both. It fits both summer and winter trip with quite some nice details and a cozy environment. The owner was especially attentive creating a good mood and allowing a better experience throughout all the stay. Option of a double bed (not twin) is missing in such a romantic inn the option should be available.
Staff were very nice, helpful & friendly, the Room was big and clean but the breakfast was for Germans....we dont eat cheese or ham that early and there were no cereals or fruit, the Bar was never open and the restaurant was never open only the one owned by the Hotel across the road which good and reasonable.....Pool was fine but all of the patio/poolside furniture was "tired" to put it mildly.....we enjoyed our stay and would probably go again but this Hotel whilst having imense potential needs some thoughtful investment. PJ & M B. Patio / Poolside furniture was older than me !
The view, value. Very basic, no TV in the room.
The staff are all very welcoming............
Hotel position, staff, room. Evening meal was the worse we have ever had in Portugal. Metal chairs scraping on floor in breakfast room starting 6:45 am. The buffet breakfast was poor, no toast, cooked food, eggs. The fruit was tinned and the juice was a concentrate.
Our room had a big balcony with a nice view. The room and bathroom were clean. The breakfast was good. Some of the staff were a bit grumpy though not unfriendly. The coffee at the breakfast buffet was horrible. The room was a bit run down, and two lights (out of four) did not work.
The location (in Silves) was excellent for getting about the Algarve, and the hotel itself was very pleasant and well kept. Lovely decor, and good sized room with a balcony overlooking the town. The buffet breakfast every day had a good range of food (including fresh fruit salad, sorry Morag!), and the large circular swimming pool was great for cooling off! Our room was described as a double but should have been labelled as twin. There were 2 single beds pushed together, and made up as 2 singles aswell!. Also, the location of the hotel on the site is wrong, it's actually in Silves, just over the main bridge from the town. We spent 2 hours driving around in the dark trying to find it, so I hope this prevents someone else experiencing that!
the view of silves from our window was outstanding. breakfast in the morning was one of the best we had on the trip. staff was polite but not particularly friendly
Convenient to the area for exploring
Exploring the Local Town of Silves and easy access to the coast
the view the breakfast has been the same for four years! There is no fresh fruit, and only processed cheese and cold meats. Also, the evening meals could be more interesting.
Situation very good, views lovely Staff OK but not over attentive. Lacking atmosphere as almost empty. Some things about the rooms were tired to say the least.
Beautiful location for nature & mountain walks, accessible to west coast by car. Delicious breakfast, clean room & friendly helpful staff
The location is high up in the mountains, overlooking the tiny village of Nave Redonda. Beautiful location, stunning views, quiet and totally relaxing. The hotel itself is very small and intimate, the staff ensure you feel very welcome without being intrusive. And breakfast was lovely!
Being able to relax by the pool, then have a BBQ was great. When we were there it was full of families, so if you're after peace and quiet, this might not be for you.
The location is very peaceful and beautiful. We had a wonderful stay - it was only one night and we wished we could have stayed longer.
The family atmosphere and the possibility to use the kitcen: like at home! The owners are very kind and the surrounding very beautyful: a good way to see pourtoguese nature.
Being steel the bedroom doors are very noisy when people come and go late at night early in the morning.
Far the cities, calm surroundings, clean and well designed rooms, helpful and friendly staff, excellent breakfast. Soft bed, creaking roof during all nights, quads passing close to building.
nice location in the countryside, nice place, nice rooms, nice staff
Very friendly and helpful owners. Nice and quiet rural place, close to the most beautiful Algarve beaches. Good breakfast, possibility to use the kitchen and barbecue. Lots of midges/mosquitos in the evening and sometimes a very rotten smell for a few hours, depending on the wind direction (presumably from the river). Weak A/C forcing to leave doors open overnight and let mosquitos in.
The ;friendliness of the people who own the hotel was wonderful. They were most helpful in guiding us to the beach, Informing us of a most wonderful restaurant and answering questions. Our room was very attractive and comfortable and we especially enjoyed the large shower.
Silence and peace
This was a very nice, very quiet, very relaxing hotel in a good location to explore the Algarve. The owners are very nice accommodating people and I would recommend this hotel to anyone (with a car) who is looking for an exceptional hotel for a relaxing few days. Great pool as well!
Good size rooms. Lovely views and helpful staff. Breakfast very limited choice
Locality near friends Coffee machine
A wonderful and peaceful place, we enjoyed it very much. If you want to stay outside the touristic area it is perfect, very relaxing.
Friendly staff, superb location no
Overall very good value for money, a welcoming hotel in a non-touristic setting with spectaular view and a nice pool area.
The location of the hotel is really great! Also, the free schedule of the swimming pool. The bed is quite awful and noisy. I could hear sounds from all around. Not worth the money...
The staff. Could use new toilet seats.
rest be quiet
Position Of Hotel. Comfortable rooms and wonderful views Breakfast
Swimmingpool, free parking, good breakfast.
