A stay at Les Parfums de Madeleine places you in the heart of Montbrison, a 1-minute drive from Church of Notre Dame Montbrison and 10 minutes from Superflu Golf Club.
Pros: The breakfast was amazing; fresh baked, delicious, (very) good coffee, everything you could wish for. Thank you.
Pros: It is more or less just a door on the street. Make sure you have the right key-code. It was a bit worrying but inside is beautifully finished and the breakfast is a 5 star continental quality. The Lady of the house had baked doughnuts and madelines, with the confitures being homemade also. She is a Physiotherapist and, very busy, but she still made time for us.
Cons: Two nights would have been better.
Pros: Very lovely host, tending to your every need.
Pros: Fantastic location friendly host great breakfast
Pros: All the facilities and an excellent breakfast
Cons: Difficult to find
Cons: Details for finding the door of the hotel. Although I had the Street number I think a more obvious name on the property would have helped me to find it but Madame was so helpful as soon as we met her at her surgery.
Pros: Excellent dining out suggestion ; this small Hotel is excellent, very nicely refurbished with choice of couleurs exactly my taste! excellent shower..., well equipped room; breakfast is a dream with partly homemade stuff; I also loved the cat of the house! Gets 6* out of 5.
Cons: Well.. nothing... the access stair is not suitable for people with knee problems... but this is an d house in the town centre, this is FRANCE.
Pros: Superb central location in Montbrison, which suited our needs perfectly.
Pros: Staff, Location, cleanliness, breakfast, decoration, every thing is TOP
Pros: Lovely large room looking onto a quiet square (handy for parking too). Lots of choice at breakfast, plenty of restaurants in walking distance for dinner. Quaint old town and a cosy, beautifully decorated B&B.
Pros: The friendly hospitaleros.
Cons: A steep hill had to be navigated on the way into town and back, but it wasnt that bad.
Pros: Very comfortable room. Excellent breakfast with home made yoghurt and home grown fruit. Charming hosts.
Pros: Very friendly, you feel really at your own home and the balance between price and the host are perfect! Internet, private Parking, brandnew bathroom, English speaking
Cons: Beds small and not very comfy. Breakfast just ok.
Pros: Great breakfast
When you stay at LA GRANGE AUX HIRONDELLES in Chambles, you'll be 13 minutes by car from Château d'Essalois.
Pros: The lady was extremely kind and we appreciated very much the property of the room and the accuracy of all its details. The breakfast was very rich and its quality was the highest, with homemade jams and local products. Extremely quiet location to stop during a long travel.
Pros: Warm and friendly. Spectacular views. The owner provided charcuterie at very short notice and it was delicious!
Cons: Noise of people walking in the bedroom above.
Pros: This was a wonderful find. It was beautiful location. The owners were unbelievably friendly and the food wonderful. Highly recommended b&b.
Located in Saint-Galmier, Chez Jacotte et Elia is within a 10-minute drive of Musee du Chapeau and Kiosque Badoit. Self parking (subject to charges) is available onsite.
Pros: It was a perfect stay with our two young children. Excellent breakfast and lovely room. Beautiful surrounding and Nice hostes.
Pros: Wonderful friendly, hospitable amd welcoming. Jacotte was beautiful and very tolerant of my terrible French(she speaks very english)
Pros: Lovely ladies who open the doors of their home to the guests. I had a real good time !
Located in Saint-Galmier between the Forez and Lyonnais mountains Hostellerie du Forez offers an on-site restaurant and bar with a courtyard patio.
Pros: We stopped over whilst on a motorcycle tour and our room was perfect as it had plenty of storage for our gear. The room was recently decorated with a very large comfy bed. We liked it that much that we made sure our return journey passed by the same hotel. Unfortunately that room was not available and the other one was not so special, although still nice.
Pros: Nice restaurant and breakfast. Helpful and friendly staff.
Pros: Owner was very helpful and accommodating and gave us good recommendations for restaurants and sights to visit.
Cons: Stairs are a bit steep. We thought we were getting bathrooms in our rooms, but we had a shared wc. One room had its own shower and sink; the other did not.
Pros: The hosts were lovely , and the room spacious. Secure parking right outside the door.
Cons: There was one shared toilet between two guest rooms. The stairs upto our room were very steep and the steps very shallow.
See hotel page Just down the road from Saint-Galmier between Lyon and Saint-tienne, Domaine la Charpinire, The Originals Collection is a hotel with timeless charm. Subtly combining elegance with modernity, Franck Anderloni is delighted to welcome you to this 4-star hotel, which invites guests to indulge in contemplation and awaken their senses.
Pros: Beautiful contemporary hotel with excellent facilities and friendly helpful staff
Pros: A nice place to come to rest. We overslept so the beds are really good and it was very quiet ;-) The food was okay.
Pros: Good, well-appointed room, overlooking gardens and spa. Friendly, efficient staff. Bistro lunch v pleasant but busy. Gourmet dinner rather pretentious with swarm of well-meaning staff.
Cons: A confusing warren of rooms and bedrooms but found our way by the time we left!
Pros: Comfortable quiet room. Nice food in the Brasserie.
Cons: Very poor service in the Brasserie. Room was not very clean (lots of cobwebs in corners and dirty under the bed). Poor customer service on checking out. Not enough seating around the pool so we missed out on that.
Pros: Beautiful room very large & comfortable.
Cons: The restaurant was not open which was a shame.
Pros: It may have once been a Relais du Silence but it is now a standard motel surviving mainly on conventions and weddings. However, what it does it does very well. Superbly clean, functional and comfortable it is a great overnight stop. It has a good lively bistro with excellent food, and a Michelin starred restaurant, though you will need to book well in advance if you want to eat there.
Cons: Most of the parking area has been sub-let to a Porsche dealer and a camping van dealer so unless you are lucky you may have to park in an overflow area some way from the entrance
Pros: Very clean. good location
Cons: breakfast - poor choise
Pros: The property is really nice and quiet, well cared of inside and outside. One of the best 4* i have ever experienced. We had dinner at the Brasserie and it was really nice. Rooms are so clean and well conditioned, personnel in reception and restaurant were so nice and professional. An excellent stay! Thank you
Cons: I cannot find something

Pros: The hosts were incredibly friendly and helpful, and greeted us with a beer and a glass of wine on arrival. The pool was very welcoming and clean and provided some respite in the heat.
Cons: As mentioned in other reviews the Chateau was very 'dusty', and there were many dead bugs (and some not so dead) - an entomologist would love this place. Breakfast was a cautious affair with wasps and fly's divebombing the guests - but it was summer, it was hot and the windows and doors were open.
Pros: Very friendly owners. The Food in the evening was super (Raclette) The atmosphere in the Castle is perfect. Thank you
Pros: Original and fascinating interior, great hosts, food and good company in the evening with a bottle of wine. A must for anyone who is looking for something different.
Pros: Emazing warm and interesting hosts Henri and Michelle, absolutely incredible collection of art, paintings and antiquities where ever you look, spacious rooms with furnature that could be from a museum, plenty of wine and tasty food and this all in a beautiful natural kept garden with a pool. This is so UNIQUE, you will never forget it!
Cons: Ok, this was not the most proper b&b I have visites, but man oh man, we enjoyed it!!!!
Pros: Beautiful, eclectic, rustic! We have been travelling through Europe for some time now and the Château has been the highlight! Totally exceeded our expectations, you will not find neat gardens and perfect lawns and yes there is the odd dead bug and a little dust but this just makes it even better. Michele and Henre are perfect hosts, Michele prepared a fabulous dinner and nothing was a bother for them. Highly recommend!
Pros: Michele and Henri are wonderful hosts, I appreciate their kindness and the small chats we had in the garden. The small inhabitants of the toilet roof are just additional charm to the house :-)
Pros: Decor was amazing, fascinating .Evening meal was good, and the family were lovely to talk to, spent a great evening talking outside with them.Really different B+B :)
Cons: We found the hotel difficult to find off the main road, signs could be better, thank goodness for a lovely french family who rang the hotel for us to get directions :)
Pros: Henry and his wife made us feel very welcome and cooked a splendid meal for us on the 2nd night. The Chateau is bursting with an eclectic mix of antiques and charm. The bedroom was very comfortable and the shower room very clean and modern. Rooms accessed by spiral stairs in the turret.
Cons: First impressions aren't great when you arrive to a messy courtyard and barking big dog. However the hosts locked the dog away so we came to no harm. There was only 3 places to eat in la foulloise it was pretty deserted.

Dinner is available which is basic but very well prepared ,tasty and enjoyable. Safe secure storage for bicycles. A great friendly atmosphere provided by the hosts and a hotel that I would stay at again.
Cons: The breakfast is very basic but what can one expect for 4 euro, a better selection of food for an extra price would be acceptable to the majority of travellers.
