It is great that the hotel is on a main street. However, there are taller buildings around it, so it is difficult to see the hotel as you are driving down the street. It is easy to pass by it more than once and not see it or the entrance driveway. Once you get there though, the hotel is very satisfactory. It has all of the important amenities, is clean, and the staff is helpful and friendly.
Room, lobby, gym pool all vey new and tasteful. Be sure to ask for a room close to lobby if walking is an issue. Some rooms are quite a hike. Nice and quiet on a weekend. Walking distance to nice casual and more upscale restaurants. Check out Proctor's Theater and the weekly Greenmarket Continental breakfast overpriced for quality of food. Coffee maker in room did not work. Coffee and breakfast in lobby 20-30 minutes late setting up on a weekend. But front desk staff adjusted bill accordingly.
Staff were ok. Place is a little old and run down. It was what I needed for one night. TV and all the lights worked. Felt as though there was no heat in the room. The heater was loud and kept me up all night but it was better than being cold. Breakfast was terrible and did not have many options other than toast or cereal.
Location being so close to the school was nice. Continental breakfast improved this year as well. Staff was poor with the people skills and ability to help. Hotel smelled like many kinds of smoke.
OK for the price and convenience to Union College, but the hotel is in desperate need of a renovation. Room is old and not necessarily clean, but it was cheap. Would not stay there for more than 1 night.
