The hotel is in a historic train station. Wonderful restoration. I arrived early, so the room was not ready. Okay, I was told I would get a call on my mobile phone when a room was ready. That call never came. As the normal check-in time approach, I returned to the hotel to find that my room had been ready but that no one had found the time to call me.
The refurbishment of the grand train station into a hotel is nearing completion and they have kept much of the details of the main station lobby. It feels grand, though I question some of their design choices (neon bright spot lights?) The heating systems were off and on, including bouts of cold and hot water in the showers. The food at the grill and their main restaurant was Okay, but nothing to get excited about.
The building was historic and located in a convienient area. We booked with booking.com and the hotel had no record of our reservation. We found the prior persons dental floss in our room on the floor next to the bed. The worst part was hearing the music from the bar Kildares from across the street all night long...
I have been making an annual trip to Scranton, Pa for the last 15 years. I always stay at the Radisson Lakawanna. The lobby decor has been preserved ( beautiful marble, mosaics, and stained glass). The rooms have recently been redecorated - or are in the process. This is a welcome improvement. The staff is friendly and helpful. We love dining at Carmen's ( in the hotel). Good food at a reasonable price.
The rooms were very large, beds very comfortable. The hotel lobby was very elegant and the old train terminal atmosphere was very cool. The bathroom was renovated with a stone vanity and very nice tile, but they used a very crappy tub surround.
Beautiful structure in a great location Noisy.
While we enjoyed the uniqueness of the train station turned hotel, we were impressed by the staff. From the desk clerks right down to the bartender, EVERYONE made us feel at home and bent over backwards to take care of our needs. Though I could use anyone as an example, I was particularly struck by the friendliness and professionalism of one of your longtime lady bartenders (whose name escapes me). I came quite late. Though she was probably thinking she would get out early, she bent over backwards to find out what I wanted. A few other regulars came in and she made a point of introducing us in the most engaging an appropriate way I have ever experienced in a Pennsylvania Hotel. I can see why this lady has been retained for 30 years and I only regret that I've forgotten her name as she deserves to be properly appreciated. Not being able to get a receipt because I booked via Kayak with a service that you don't access directly.
Nothing. The hotel is filthy, unkept and falling apart. I will never stay there again. Peeling paint, cracked cement, dirty and broken curtains, stained carpet, horrible bathroom and uncomfortable bed. The door handle was loose and did not close properly. I kept my things in the trunk of my car .
It was very close to the coach station and town centre. It was reasonably priced and room included a breakfast. There was no lobby internet facilities, the staff were not overly helpful about cab services (even though there is only one in the whole town) and where to find internet facilities.
It was located in Scranton. Had to ask for the sheets to be changed when first arrived. The came and changed them.
Convenient location, nice management, decent price. I'd come back to stay. Don't think the room was as clean as would have liked; bathroom floors and such had hairs and were not thoroughly clean.
Great hotel for the price and perfect for an overnight stay in the heart of the city. Clean place and nice people at the desk. We chose it for location and price.
inexpensive but average accommodations
The location was central to the historic sites and a value for the money. Motel was an original Howard Johnsons and is experiencing a bit of minor wear and tear type deterioration that fortunately is being corrected by the current owners.
Nothing Red carpet
It's very cheap There was a old brewed coffee bag lay sitting in the coffee maker. There was a lot of brown stain in the toilet. A lot of kids running outside and yelling in the morning.
Good location, good and free parking place, free wi-fi, good hotel for overnight stay. Average breakfast.
On the bottom set of outside steps that lead to are second floor room there was human feces and the smell was atrocious !!!
i thought the staff was very friendly.my room was clean.i would recomend this room to my friends.its cheap in price and at a very easy to find location. the breakfast could use improvement.but for the price of that room it was a fair deal
