About SeaDream Yacht Club

The SeaDream Yacht Club is a cruise with a difference. This company, established in 2001, has just two vessels, the SeaDream I and SeaDream II, and they are not the cruise liners that many travelers are familiar with. Instead, they are a pair of luxury yachts, offering an intimate, laid-back experience that will give passengers a completely different voyage than other lines.

The SeaDream I and II carry just 112 guests. With a crew of 95, it's hard to find a higher crew to passenger ratio, and by the end of the trip, everyone on board will be on friendly terms. Their voyages have a uniquely intimate feeling, and the onboard ambience is more casual than can be found elsewhere.

Group entertainment or European-style "animators" leading passengers in fun and games are absent from the SeaDream vessels. Instead, guests are given the chance to sit back and relax. The voyages are all-inclusive, so while fares may seem high, keep in mind that they include drinks, amenities and shore activities.

Both yachts operate in the Caribbean. Voyages are generally seven nights long, and the small size of the vessels means that they can dock at smaller islands than their larger counterparts. Destinations include Martinique, the Grenadines, Barbuda and Saba, unique locations that most cruise passengers may never have the chance to visit.

Complimentary shore excursions may include hiking through Italy, kayaking in Croatia and sailing in the Caribbean. The intimate feeling of the voyage is heightened on these excursions, which are organized by the crew. The captain often leads walks or hikes, and passengers can go shopping with the ship's chef at a local market. The Champagne and Caviar Splash, a regular feature of Caribbean journeys, is a gourmet barbecue on a white sand beach or beside the pool.

The sports platforms, found at the back of the yachts, are major attractions. Passengers with a taste for adventure can enjoy water-skiing, jet skiing, sailing small boats, kayaking and more. There's a small but well-run spa, which offers particularly impressive massages by Thai-certified masseuses. The Signature Relaxation Massage is worth making a reservation, as it's the perfect choice for relieving stress.

It's possible to dine outdoors, a charming option if the weather is good. Eleven beds are found on the deck, and can be booked for passengers who want to sleep under the stars. Guests who take this opportunity will find pyjamas embroidered with their initials and a bottle of champagne, ready to go.

The dress code on board is casual, and most guests fall into the 40 to 60 age bracket. The yachts do not offer any child-specific activities. Kids are welcome aboard, but for a family vacation, the SeaDream Yacht Club may not be the best choice. There's nothing to keep the youngsters entertained during days at sea. In fact, there's not much organized entertainment at all, although guests often congregate in the evening at the Piano Bar. SeaDream I also has a small casino.

All cabins on SeaDream cruises are suites, and all have ocean views. The standard offerings have a flat screen TV, DVD player, iPod docking station, bathrobes and slippers, wifi, and a refrigerator stocked with complimentary drinks. The grandest suite on offer has a separate master bedroom and living area, a massage shower, a bathtub with ocean views, two flat screen TVs and a Nespresso coffee machine.

All in all, a SeaDream cruise offers a completely different experience for vacations at sea. These intimate voyages don't come cheap, but they will give guests an unforgettable journey, and a unique chance to visit small, hidden ports and really get to know fellow passengers in a way that is quite impossible on larger vessels.

Sea Dream I

For a cruise with a difference, SeaDream I is a luxury yacht carrying just 112 passengers and 95 crew. The extremely high crew to passenger ratio means that service is personalized and excellent, and the onboard ambience is relaxed, laid-back, and similar to a yacht club. Mature passengers will enjoy an unusual voyage on this 344-ft. yacht, launched by SeaDream Yacht Club in 2001.

SeaDream I can visit smaller destinations, often inaccessible to large cruise ships. A number of Mediterranean itineraries of between five and 10 nights are on offer, taking in tiny, exclusive ports like Calvi, on the French island of Corsica, or the charming seaside town of Motril in the south of Spain. A visit to Gibraltar allows passengers to get to know the famous local monkeys, and beautiful Moorish architecture can be seen in southern Spanish cities like Cadiz and Malaga.

A highlight for adventurous passengers is the sports platform on the back of SeaDream I. Those with an interest in water sports will enjoy the kayaks, sailboat, water skis, and jet ski. The less sporty can just relax on the ultra-comfortable Balinese beds on deck, and admire the views. The ship also has a small but well-equipped spa, a swimming pool, a piano bar, and a casino.

SeaDream I has 54 staterooms, all suites and all outside. The 195-ft. standard suites include a flat screen TV, DVD player, and mini-refrigerator stocked with complimentary drinks. The luxurious Owner's Suite has a separate bedroom and living/dining area, and its bathroom is equipped with a whirlpool tub and separate shower, for extra luxury on this intimate cruise experience.

Sea Dream II

SeaDream II is one of just two vessels in SeaDream Yacht Club's small, exclusive fleet. This intimate yacht carries 112 passengers, looked after attentively by a crew of 95. Built in 1985, SeaDream II was completely renovated when it was bought by SeaDream Yacht Club in 2001, and now offers mature, adventurous passengers a remarkable luxury experience.

SeaDream II offers a number of Mediterranean itineraries of 7 to 10 nights. Due to its small size, it can dock at small destinations which are beyond the reach of large cruise ships, so SeaDream II passengers can enjoy some unusual stops. Several routes serve Mediterranean playgrounds like Saint-Tropez, France, the casino heaven of Monte Carlo, Monaco, and Ibiza, Spain.

Islands like Corsica and Sardinia are also popular destinations. SeaDream is the only commercial yacht that docks in Puerto Banus, Spain, where the local Ferrari Club puts on an exclusive show for the vessel's guests.

All passengers on the 344-ft. vessel can enjoy the luxury of staying in a suite. There are 54 suites of different categories, all with a flatscreen TV, DVD player, and mini-refrigerator stocked with complimentary drinks. Upgrading offers more options, with the finest Owner's Suite boasting a whirlpool tub, separate shower, and separate bedroom and living/dining area.

A true highlight of the SeaDream experience is the ship's sports platform, where adventurous guests can indulge in water sports like kayaking, sailing, water skiing, or jet skiing. The ship also offers an indulgent spa, a swimming pool, a casino and a piano bar. SeaDream II generally attracts mature couples with an interest in luxury and adventure.
