About SeaDream Yacht Club

The SeaDream Yacht Club is a cruise with a difference. This company, established in 2001, has just two vessels, the SeaDream I and SeaDream II, and they are not the cruise liners that many travelers are familiar with. Instead, they are a pair of luxury yachts, offering an intimate, laid-back experience that will give passengers a completely different voyage than other lines.

The SeaDream I and II carry just 112 guests. With a crew of 95, it's hard to find a higher crew to passenger ratio, and by the end of the trip, everyone on board will be on friendly terms. Their voyages have a uniquely intimate feeling, and the onboard ambience is more casual than can be found elsewhere.

Group entertainment or European-style "animators" leading passengers in fun and games are absent from the SeaDream vessels. Instead, guests are given the chance to sit back and relax. The voyages are all-inclusive, so while fares may seem high, keep in mind that they include drinks, amenities and shore activities.

Both yachts operate in the Caribbean. Voyages are generally seven nights long, and the small size of the vessels means that they can dock at smaller islands than their larger counterparts. Destinations include Martinique, the Grenadines, Barbuda and Saba, unique locations that most cruise passengers may never have the chance to visit.

Complimentary shore excursions may include hiking through Italy, kayaking in Croatia and sailing in the Caribbean. The intimate feeling of the voyage is heightened on these excursions, which are organized by the crew. The captain often leads walks or hikes, and passengers can go shopping with the ship's chef at a local market. The Champagne and Caviar Splash, a regular feature of Caribbean journeys, is a gourmet barbecue on a white sand beach or beside the pool.

The sports platforms, found at the back of the yachts, are major attractions. Passengers with a taste for adventure can enjoy water-skiing, jet skiing, sailing small boats, kayaking and more. There's a small but well-run spa, which offers particularly impressive massages by Thai-certified masseuses. The Signature Relaxation Massage is worth making a reservation, as it's the perfect choice for relieving stress.

It's possible to dine outdoors, a charming option if the weather is good. Eleven beds are found on the deck, and can be booked for passengers who want to sleep under the stars. Guests who take this opportunity will find pyjamas embroidered with their initials and a bottle of champagne, ready to go.

The dress code on board is casual, and most guests fall into the 40 to 60 age bracket. The yachts do not offer any child-specific activities. Kids are welcome aboard, but for a family vacation, the SeaDream Yacht Club may not be the best choice. There's nothing to keep the youngsters entertained during days at sea. In fact, there's not much organized entertainment at all, although guests often congregate in the evening at the Piano Bar. SeaDream I also has a small casino.

All cabins on SeaDream cruises are suites, and all have ocean views. The standard offerings have a flat screen TV, DVD player, iPod docking station, bathrobes and slippers, wifi, and a refrigerator stocked with complimentary drinks. The grandest suite on offer has a separate master bedroom and living area, a massage shower, a bathtub with ocean views, two flat screen TVs and a Nespresso coffee machine.

All in all, a SeaDream cruise offers a completely different experience for vacations at sea. These intimate voyages don't come cheap, but they will give guests an unforgettable journey, and a unique chance to visit small, hidden ports and really get to know fellow passengers in a way that is quite impossible on larger vessels.
