Convenient location, nice cosy atomosphere When we arrived at the hotel they knew nothing of our booking. We were lucky that a room was available for our stay. This may not be the case in the season so I think this needs looking into.
Lady who was breakfast cook who took me to my room was very pleasant and friendly. Comfortable bed. Hotel's card payment machine did not work, it "usually goes funny" apparently, so I had to go out specially and go to a cash machine to get £1 as I was one pound short of cash!!! Manager was very grumpy and unhelpful on arrival. Didn't bother to say welcome or give any information about the hotel apart from time of breakfast. No clear reception area downstairs, so I was left wandering from area to area on arrival. No phone in room. Good to have satellite tv, though no instructions on how to get it to show on tv (eventually discovered by trying the various buttons on the remote control). No useful information in the room
Decoration was dated, though room was warm and clean. Squeaky floorboards but the breakfast was lovely :-)
The warmth of the room and the amount of towels provided. The freshly cooked breakfast and the help yourself to refills of the excellent coffee. The public bar has character and a fire, with a bit more cheer we might have eaten a snack there - they are missing out by not turning this bar into a smarter and more appealing venue. But this is an excellent value warm b and b but could be so much more! Half the price of the Blue Ball at Sidmouth and without the 24 hour noise problem but everything else room size etc is as good. Its very noisy, very early in the morning. Plug socket for hairdryer was beside the bed only mirror was beside the door with a very dim light above.
The food The reception facilities are rather casual.
The friendly staff and the roast dinner was excellent on the Sunday. Not particularly good sausages with the fry-up in the morning, but still was nice overall.
Staff couldn't be nicer. The cottage and location are historic yet with all the modern amenities you want (new bathroom, free wifi, etc). Breakfast was excellent. Nothing, although taller people will need to duck when upstairs. It is a 15th century cottage after all!
I would recommend this small hotel. It has great value for money. The restaurant is very good and the breakfast was delicious. Our room was adaquate partially updated could use a couple of updates, nothing serious. The bathroom could have tile floor instead of carpet and a bathmat would be better then the paper they were using.
every thing ! food, setting, staff etc
Fantastic location in the countryside with fabulous views from the restaurant and close proximity to Lyme Regis. Warm and friendly welcome and service. The bedroom was in the main house, beautifully decorated and thoughfully designed.
Food really excellent and views from room very good. The gardens were also very attractive and added greatly to ambience of hotel. The shower in the bath room was poor, should have raised with hotel when checking out but forgot. Did not detract from stay.
garden. view. when the clouds parted beds too soft. bad for backs
The restaurant was modern and comfortable. The food was excellent and service very good.a lovely location. Our only complaint was the shower which was hand held and there was no enough force to have a good shower.
The food was very good. Thank you for an enjoyable short stay.
The chance to rest and the quiet helpfulness of the staff.
