The menu, kitchen and chef have all changed. Fewer options but each is a masterpiece. Amazing flavors. I understand the kitchen will no longer accept customer custom orders which is fine by me. You pay a premium price for the benefit of the training and expertise of the chef. He knows better than I about what works and most of the time, you won't be sorry. Take a chance, listen to your server and dig in. If you have a fussy stomach go to a chain restaurant but if you want a truly exceptional meal, prepared with finesse and expertise, Wild Ginger is one of the best bets in town.

Sadly, the blush is off the rose . . . Wild Ginger once was known for creative, delicious food. No more - food was cold and blah, the ahi and kumquat appetizer had old ahi and 2 thin slices of kumquat, the sea bass appetizer tasted like the fish had been held outside the US border for 2 weeks. Server was uninterested. Could tell it was just a job to him. And, he forgot to bring the rice we had ordered; by the time he came back to check on us, we had eaten main course already.\nNext time, I will go to my favorite sushi place that has great ambience, fresh fish, and great service for half the price.

Always enjoy Wild Ginger -- perfect location for dinner before events downtown, good food. This is the first time I've experienced the new menu. The Mongolian rice was delicious, but I really missed the old tuna carpaccio with crostini -- despite the waiter telling us the new recipe is better than the old, it isn.'t . The vegetable chips weren't as good and neither is the tuna dish. Also miss the lamb satays, singing scallop satays.

I took my mother here for dinner. She had been raving about it for years when it was in the original location. We were incredibly disappointed by our waiter, the service and the food! The food arrived in less than 10 minutes of being ordered, luke warm. We even had to send a meal back. The restaurant in general is huge but it was empty. Our waiter didn't even make eye contact with us. \n\nThis is my first review ever, I usually don't complain, but after chatting with someone at a local store who had a similar experience, I felt I needed to share.

The menu was lacking in that I ordered a salad but took a few bites before I wondered if it had sesame oil in the dressing. That information was not reflected on the menu. I can't consume that oil because I break out in boils from it. They did not charge me for it but the damage was done.\n\nI had the pot stickers but they offered only very salty soy sauce. It would have been nice to have the option of olive oil or something else to moisten them up.\n\nThey chicken was not organic because I had a reaction the next day that told me it may have been raised with antibiotics.\n\nIt is terribly noisy in there. They put loud music in the mix which just made it that much more unbearable.

We were very disappointed with the changes in the menu. Many of our favorite dishes are gone. In particular taking off the Panang Beef Curry is a big mistake. This coupled with the huge price increases really damped our enthusiasm. We've been loyal customers for many years and make a point of always dining at Wild Ginger every time we are in Seattle. Saddly. that will change now. We are looking at other options for our trip up next weekend. WG, you've broken our hearts!

We had a quick spur of the moment casual dinner. We had the Seven Flavor Beef and the chow fun noodles. The food was good, but tasted a bit 'one note' and my husband commented the dishes tasted similar to each other. The staff was terrific and very attentive, atmosphere was dark but good for people watching. We were in and out in under an hour. Good for an easy dinner for two or with friends and close to fun things to do.

Wild Ginger is our family's go-to restaurant for celebrations, reunions, or just great food and drink. The people who work there go out of their way to make your meal special regardless of the occasion; the food and drinks are always excellent; and if the sommelier invites you to tour the wine cellar, GO. \nWe started going to Wild Ginger when it first opened below the Market and have only enjoyed excellent people, food, and memories there. Both our children have chosen to celebrate their 21st birthdays there.

I always used to like Wild Ginger because it's right across the street from Benaroya and thus convenient for pre-concert dinners. The staff would always ask if we had a performance we needed to go to, there was a great special vegetarian menu, and generally they were very helpful and friendly. This time is was like a whole new restaurant. The place was packed (500+?) and extremely noisy, and the wait-staff was tense. The waiter told us (1) the vegetarian menu had been phased out but might come back, (2) we couldn't send special instructions or requests to the chef, and (3) they really didn't like to do separate checks. I felt that WG had gone over to the Dark Side: a one-size-fits-all product for massive numbers of customers. It took me at least ten minutes to get soy sauce. The place seems to have lost its soul. I might try it again someday just to see if things have calmed down and if they've got their vegetarian/Vegan menu back. The food is still good and there are some vegetarian offerings on the regular menu.

I'm not enjoying writing this review; Wild Ginger has been a favorite of my wife and me since we bought our downtown Seattle 2nd home condo in 2005. We always put that on our places to eat list when in town. I regularly recommended it to anyone visiting Seattle, calling it one of my 5 favorite restaurants in all the world. But something's changed and not for good.\n\nI've spent the last two months here overseeing a remodel of our condo and in that time I have eaten at WJ three times. Once by myself just after arriving, once with friends, and two days ago with my wife who'd just arrived in town. The first time my waiter embarrassingly advised me that the restaurant was now charging for rice. I told him they always have, either built into the total meal price or as they are now apparently now doing, as an extra. But either way I know I'm not getting anything for free. \n\nQuestion to WJ management: Why not just raise the price of all menu items by some small amount, say $.25 or maybe even just $.10, that should give you the increased revenue you apparently think you need shouldn't it? Or just cut the portions of free rice in half; I never ate all you gave me in the first place.\n\nOther than feeling sorry for the embarrassed waitstaff who had to tell me there would be a rice charge, no big deal. Prices increase and as long as WJ continued to perform in all other aspects, I could live with it. But that's not what happened. Instead, smaller portions of meat and meal temperature way below what it should be.\n\nI asked to speak to management this last visit and to their credit they appeared to understand my concerns. In any event, they very graciously reduced the bill for our meal. However, that's not what I want in the future. I want Wild Ginger to go back to being what I knew it to be for the last 12 years. I'll be back to see if that happens, once, maybe twice more, but if things don't improve that's it for me.

When we made the reservations, the lunch menu had affordable food. When we got to the restaurant, everything was pretty much over $20.00 and we were informed that the menu had recently changed. Anything substantial that would have left me satisfied was $30 or more. A lunch menu should be more affordable and the portions larger. I had to get a sandwich at a different place after eating there.

Whenever we are in Seattle we like to hit Wild Ginger. It had been awhile since we've back - so we were looking forward to it. Unfortunately we were really disappointed. Despite having an Open Table reservation for 6:30, the table was not available when we arrived. No big, so after a short wait we were seated. Our server took our drink order, but didn't provide the wine list. Then he was gone. Like 40 minutes - gone. When he came back we ordered and had him replace a chopstick that was dangerously broken. We were well over an hour before the appetizer showed up. Overall, really disappointing.

HORRIBLE experience. Planned 90 minute dinner before concert. Seated on time, ordered appetizer...which never came. Requested that chicken be held from one meal: waiter came back a few minutes later and said it was 'too complicated' for the kitchen staff, so something else was ordered. FIFTY minutes later ONE meal was brought by kitchen staff, but we were not sure it was what we ordered and no waiter around, so it was sent back. FIFTEEN minutes later a second meal came, but wrong, and the first meal arrived again, COLD. TEN minutes later a third meal arrived but we were already standing up to get to our concert. Waiter and manager apologized and comp'ed the meals...which was only fair since, you know, we didn't eat anything. Used to be a good restaurant, and small mistakes sometimes happen, but this was a fiasco from start to finish. Watched the concert hungry and got a late night pizza...

1) In highlighting a mis- print on the wine list, the waitress said I could not tell her and I had to tell the sommelier. I was surprised the waitress could not have noted the error in the wine list to the sommelier.\n2) I ordered a white wine - a rather expensive white wine at $152 per bottle - and it was served at room temperature (no - it was not at cellar temperature either). Does Wild Ginger not have refrigeration capability for their white wines? The sommelier provided an ice bucket - but as one can imagine 30+ mins was required for the wine temperature to cool to an appropriate temperature to start to consume it. Meanwhile I'm eating my first course - with no wine. A friend of mine who enjoys ordering unique/rare wines from the Wild Ginger wine list has mentioned this same thing to me - 'while Wild Ginger's wine list is rather impressive and worth visiting Wild Ginger for, wine service execution often is lacking. If we could have the guy doing the wine buying for the wine list also do the wine serving then I'm sure due respect to the wine would continue through to the serving of it.\n3) The menu description of the salmon I got ordered gave the impression an asian/fusion flavored sauce would come with it to impart various flavors in addition to the salmon. But instead the salmon was rather plain - it appeared to be just wrapped in a grape leave and cooked. I was hoping for some more flavors imparted from the theme of the dish being Asian/NW fusion, etc. There definitely was no Asian imagination from the chef in the way that salmon was prepared.\n4) There was no salt or pepper shakers on any of the tables. I would have liked to have had some pepper to season the rice I had.\n5) The only positive comments I have were - a very fine wine list, the wine was absolutely delicious once it was cooled appropriately, the staff was cordial (except as noted in item 1) above), and I appreciated the ability to dine alone as it was prior to a Benaroya Hall performance.

Until recently, Wild Ginger was a favorite of mine. But the menu has changed and it is about a fourth of the size and many favorite dishes are no longer on the menu. I was there there twice in the last week and the potstickers were not light but heavy and not great. Two dishes were too salty. The 7 spice beef was unevenly cut and not as good. Not sure if there is a new chef or what but this place went from ***** to ** for me. So sad.

We've been to the restaurant twice in the last month and a half and the first time was good, service okay seemed a little hurried by the waiter.\n The second time we told the waiter we had a concert to attend so figured the 1-1/2 hour was enough. The Wild Ginger is a long established veteran of Seattle quality restaurants. We were a party of eight. Was seated right away. Waiter took drinks and dinner order quickly . Appetizers delivered promptly and than the wait began,. Over 45 minutes for getting our main dishes. We had to ask where our food was since no one was checking on us. I had to even ask one of the assistants to bring us the wine I ordered ( they had placed a wine glass on the table but no wine.). We had tickets to an event at Benaroya so on time schedule . Reservations at 5:45 and our main meal finally served at 7:00pm. Was not an enjoyable dinner. The Chicken Pad Thai I ordered was so spicy I did not eat. The menu has no mention of chili peppers as I saw in my dish. The papaya salad was very good and the Black Pepper Scallops were chewy. So disappointing.

NYE. Cold, busy evening. Our group of 5 was seated at the worst table in the restaurant - booth near the host / waiting area and the front door. So every time the door opened we felt the cold 30 degree draft wafting in. We asked to be relocated and that could not be accommodated given it was New Years Eve, which I understand. But it was even a consideration to look for another table for us. So there we sat, in our coats, eating dinner. And because we were so close to the host / waiting area and folks were waiting to be seated, awaiting guests felt very comfortable leaning over the top of our booth to see what we were eating. Not a great experience. Wine was meh. Food was fine, but not good enough to make up for the ambiance. Likely won't be back.

We decided to try this restaurant because we go to Triple Door a lot and they serve Wild Ginger food which is delicious. For some reason they did away with some of our favorite menu item, Princess Prawns, Szechwan green beans, and the bok choy. All our favorites. This time we were going to the Paramount to a show and decided to actually go to the restaurant. It was above and beyond what we expected! Huge Pantagonian prawns! We also had delicious Pad Thai and the Potstickers huge and yummy. We decided that from now on we will go to the restaurant before our Triple Door shows! How can anyone serve a warm beer? Obviously, the bar tender who poured it and the waiter who served it could feel it was warm. Do they even care about their job or the service they provide?\n\nI was so looking forward to this special day, my birthday with my children and boy was it a big fail. \n\nI'm sorry to be so brutal, but that was my take on how it went.\n\nLisa

We have eaten here for years and years. The food is consistently good, but the service, always irritating with its lectures on how to eat the food, has actually become worse. We ordered a bottle of wine. Our food arrived, no wine. More food arrived, still no wine. We asked where is the wine? The food was getting cold. We asked again and started to eat. We were 2/3 thru the meal when the wine steward brought our bottle to the table, with a mumbled apology. What is worse this is the second time this has happened. For some reason only one person has the key to the cellar and this particular individual is as slow as can be. I like my wine to be at the table before the food arrives --is that so much to ask?\n.

But the most shocking thing was that Wild Ginger raised the prices quite a bit.\nWe will not go there again.

My wife and I have been going here for many years because we love everything about it. We love driving 'into the city', we love the food and the way we are treated when we come here.\nTonight was a little different and honestly a little disappointing. Many of our favorite menu items had been removed from the menu, wine list had been shortened and the service seemed to be a little off. We contemplated maybe they are under new ownership, management or have a new chef. Of course we'll come back but probably not as much and probably not for our special nights out.

The first time I ate I Wild Ginger was over 25 years ago when it was in the old location on Western. I loved the creative menu and especially the Thai Noodles (fresh from local Asian market so not available on Sunday) and the cozy venue. The restaurant became so popular it was difficult to get a table; that was alleviated by the move to the 3rd street location but at the price of charm and intimacy. Never the less, I was willing to give up some of the ambiance for the delicious food. It has been my favorite restaurant in Seattle for years and even though I have moved out of the area I always make it a point to eat at Wild Ginger when I am in town (several times a year.) This occasion I was in town for business and it also happened to be my birthday so I made sure to head to Wild Ginger once again but I was really disappointed. The menu has changed and has been abbreviated and my beloved Thai Noodles are no longer one of the choices. There is another similar dish that the chef agreed to modify and it was good but not as tasty as my favorite that is no longer available. The spicy green beans are still there and I enjoyed the Kobe beef satay as an appetizer but it just wasn't the same. I'm not sure I will make the special effort to get there again for dinner.

Wild Ginger is an excellent restaurant which I've enjoyed many times. I was a bit disappointed this time though. I'm a vegetarian and there already weren't a lot of vegetarian items on the menu, which is unusual for an Asian restaurant. This time, they had scaled back their menu and removed some of the vegetarian options they previously offered, including my very favorite. There were still a couple options and the one I ordered was very tasty, but everyone wants to have more choices than that.

We attend the Seattle Symphony and events at Benaroya Hall frequently, which is across the street from the Seattle Wild Ginger. So it is very convenient on Symphony or event nights at Benaroya Hall. We are gluten intolerant, and they have always accommodated us with excellent choices and /or slight adjustments to meet our dietary needs. All while providing great flavor, variety, and excellent service. In our view it has been pricey, but well worth it.\n\nHowever, this most recent visit was apparently the same day or very close to a major menu change. So we can understand the staff was working hard to deal with the new menu. Nonetheless, for us, it was a significant disappointment. There was little variety, no adjustments to make other items gluten free, and the buddha rolls, a dish we tried to use as a substitute for a previous favorite that was no longer available gluten free, (pad thai), was not at all to our liking. The siam lettuce cups, a von buhl riesling, as well as the service, was excellent as always, but it just couldn't overcome the disappointment in the more limited food selection, and a poor dish, (from our perspective). Our waiter did a fine job, and comped the buddha rolls, leading to our consistent evaluation of excellent service, but sadly, it will be some time before we return.

But this time we waited 10+ minutes for our table despite reservations for a Wednesday lunch. Then we sat nearly as long before any waiter approached. We went to Wild Ginger before seeing Ira Glass at Benaroya Hall. It was a great decision - not only is Wild Ginger right next to the hall but the meal was perfect.\nWe shared the Thai chicken satay and Siam Lettuce Cup, a chilean sea bass dish served on lettuce with sprigs of basil and dill. We each had a side of veggies as well -- I had the bok choy (mild but tasty) and my friend had the green beans (I think GBs are super yuck, in general, but she loved them!). I had one of the o.g.m. beverages -- which should more correctly be called OMG! My friend had the Bittersweet Martini. She said it was to die for! We sat in the back at the satay counter. It's quieter there. We ate early before the rush and beat the crowds. Were the only ones at the counter at 5PM but the counter was full by the time we left an hour or so later. We recommend Wild Ginger before Benaroya, after Benaroya or for any occasion. Enjoy!

This restaurant offered an excellent, varied menu of unusual asian specialties. I had the daily special, a simple but very tasty fried rice with fish. The fish was perfectly cooked, still soft, even though it was mixed in. Each bite was something slightly different - ginger, green onions, mild fish. Just a great lunch. My partner had Panang curried beef which was truly excellent. The curry was so good - even though I'm not a meat eater I had two bites. It would have been delicious on any meat I think.

There was a too noisy and too long Chinese New Year parade through the restaurant at 7pm (which our waiter had warned us about so we got our order placed in time to not have service disrupted) but the drums and cymbals were painfully loud (fortunately I keep a pair of earplugs in my purse). The parade was fun to see but those instruments are too loud for the space. The waiter recommended the lettuce cup as being something quick to get onto the table to avoid conflicts with the parade and to get us out in time for the symphony. The lettuce cup had smoked bass which was deliciously seasoned but really not worth the price. Stick with the Thai noodles and green beans as a side dish!

Normally, Wild Ginger is one of our favorite restaurants-- we love the fragrant duck and the atmosphere. But we had one of the worst meals there-- our food arrived an hour after we ordered and mostly cold. Because we were going to an event at Benaroya Hall, we couldn't ask for a replacement--and actually, we were all about starved and kind of just ready to leave.\n\nWe basically watched diners who came after us order, eat, and leave before we even RECEIVED our food.\n\nThe server (actually 3 servers) all apologized to us, but no discount was given, no free drink, no free dessert. Nothing. In fact, they seemed so embarrassed, they just stopped showing up.\n\nNormally, food and service is great here, but we wondered if there's been a change in management or something else. We may be back--but I will probably find kinder, more caring restaurants to eat at as I can't remember the last time I was so disappointed at a meal.

We made reservations for 5pm via Open Table. We were early so sat at the bar. At a little before 5pm I let the hostess know we were at the bar. When they sat us, we were the first at the interior ground level dining area on the north side. The hostess seated us at a 4 chair table so I asked for a booth since they were all open. I was told that all the booths were reserved. I didn't see an option for reserving a booth on open table but perhaps there was somewhere on the reservation page that allows for special requests. When we were finished about an hour and a half later, there were still vacant booths that had not been used. \n\nThe waiter Brent, although nice. Did not immediately bring the sauces as I'm used to from past experience but asked if we wanted it. He also did not bring hot towels as I normally have experienced in the past instead I had to ask him for them. We ordered desert that took quite a while to come. Since it was late, he offered to not charge for it, unfortunately, since it had probably sat for a while, it was no longer warm and soft but had become cold and hard. \n\nNot a good experience overall for a bill that was about $150 with the drinks at the bar and a special occasion for my wife and me.

Made reservation for 5 people; arrived early because 2 friends unexpectedly cancelled, which changed our timeline; snooty, rude young lady at front (sorry, but no other way to describe her) said we would still have to wait close to an hour because of change (I nicely said no problem); another young lady led me down a dark hall to wait in bar (husband and daughter were parking car); asked her if there was a CHAIR I could sit on, since I am handicapped and it was impossible for me to pull myself onto a tall bar stool; she made a sad sorry face, said no, and left me leaning against the bar; a few minutes later my husband and daughter found me and almost immediately we were told our table was ready. They couldn't believe what I told them, since there was another room behind the bar with tables, a bench at the front of the restaurant, and an alcove to the side of the front desk with a sofa and chair!!! We ordered with the help of Matt, who was extremely patient and helpful. The Laska soup and dumplings were very good. The scallops were small in size but also good, although my husband was suprised that there was a lack of sauce or vegetable as part of the dish. The green beans would have been a good dish but had what tasted like burnt garlic, a problem we solved by just scrapping off the bits. The best item was the Pang beef BUT it was a ridiculously small portion (we ordered the large). We went back to the Hyatt and ordered room service, including dessert. I understand eating Chinese and being hungry in an hour, but really !!! The overall experience would have been outstanding if the portions were realistic and the front desk had been polite. Didn't live up to the recommendation from our friends.

I always come with high expectations, but never leave satisfied. I enjoy all of their Satays but never the main courses. They seem to lack flavor and the last prawn pad Thai I had had way too many red pepper flakes. The waiter was great and even took half off the entree since I didn't send it back. Wait staff is excellent and the cocktails are unique and lovely. Overall I'd go again but it isn't my favorite place in Seattle, despite its reputation.

What a lovely experience for our 36th Anniversary.\nWild Ginger is well-known in the Puget Sound area and has justly gained a reputation for impeccably prepared Asian Fusion cuisine. As my spouse is gluten-free, we had to forego their famous duck and had the scrumptious green curry chicken. Light, tasty, just spicy enough--delightful. Our fantastic waiter--among the best waitpersons I've ever experienced--recommended the sparkling Riesling and it was super. I also had the Buddha Rolls as an appetizer and a glass of the custom OGM (Orange, ginger, mint). The rolls were very nice with a lovely citrus sauce and the OGM was potent and refreshing. Our waiter comped us with a serving of the cheesecake topped by an excellent apple compote. Total price (for lunch) was a very modest $55--a bargain for this quality of service, food, and atmosphere. \nHighly recommended.

I enjoyed a great meal here before an event at Benaroya Hall. The food was, as always, divine. I have never had a bad meal at Wild Ginger, and while the service can seem chaotic and abrupt at times, the staff will make sure you get your food and are out the door on time so you won't be late for an event. Wild Ginger is one of my all time Seattle favorites. Can't wait for my next visit.

We were given a small booth right next to kitchen door and refused a larger table. Two out of three of our orders were incorrect. Basically a disappointment based upon my prior experiences at Wild Ginger. I've been a customer since you were small, by Pike Place Mkt. I don't think I would personally choose you again over the many better choices in Seattle.

The food was mediocre, very oily, not very flavorful at all. Two of four people in our party ordered the Hot and Sour soup, and got a bunch of seafood (squid, mussels, salmon, etc) in a vinegar broth - really more like Hot Salmon soup. Neither ate and returned with only one or two spoonfuls sipped and informing the waiter, but both remained on the bill at the end of the night. I've never had that happen at a decent restaurant, especially one of Wild Ginger's reputation and caliber. Was a little embarrassed to have recommended as it's been good in the past, but this was a highly unsatisfying night. The two drinks we ordered from the bar were good (mango daiquiri and spicy manhattan) but fairly pricey for what we got.

While the food, as always, did not disappoint, the service certainly did this time. We have been going to Wild Ginger for years, back when it was a small space on Western, and this year we were excited to take out of town family there again for a holiday celebration. But even though we dutifully made reservations, we waited well over 30 minutes past the reservation time to finally get seated. We had to inquire several times if our table was ready, as no one bothered to check on us, and even then, the Maitre D' was quite rude: when I reminded her we had reservations after she told us no tables were available yet, she responded curtly, 'I know.' When we were finally seated, the hostess rushed us to our table (not slowing down for my elderly father who had trouble walking), made no apologies and left us without a server until I finally had to summon one over. That waiter was also quite rude, appearing annoyed that I had asked for a server and said curtly, 'What do you want?' When I responded, 'To order?' he replied in an irritated voice, 'Like what?' So I said, 'I don't know, maybe start with some drinks..?!' As if I was making an unreasonable request! Thankfully another waiter took over and was much more apologetic about the wait, and the rest of the night the service was what it should have been. Though it speaks poorly of the restaurant that there was no offer at all to compensate us for the long wait time, and that coupled with the rude staff interactions will make me think twice about booking a special event there again.

We made a 6:45pm reservation to dine before an 8pm show at Benaroya Hall across the street. When we arrived, the restaurant was packed - the foyer was filled to the door. After 15 minutes, we told the hostess we were willing to split our group into tables of two if that would get us seated sooner, as we had 8pm show tickets. 15 minutes later, we were finally seated, as a group. It was not looking good, and we considered taking our meal to go. Our server came and took our order; we requested a rush due to the late seating, and had to forego apps and order our entrees. We were amazed that our meal arrived 15 minutes later; we had no time to spare and ate accordingly. The food was delicious. The manager comped us a portion of our meal, and we were out the door at 7:50pm, which was our original plan.

Ordered only 3 appetizers and it took 55 minutes for them to be served. Lunch was ordered at the same time as appetizers and didn't arrive until 45 minutes after everyone was done with their appetizers. Food was good but portions small for the price. The restaurant was so overbooked that the food was very very slow to arrive....1hour. The waiter suggested that smaller plates would be enough but 3 of these were not enough. He had told us we could make an additional order. When we tried to order the cod and had 45 minutes til we had to leave for the concert we were told that they could not get it out of the kitchen in time for us to eat it. So we left hungry. I have been there many times and have had great service so was surprised by the situation. We spoke to the hostess when we left and were told that the restaurant was using a new table assignment scheduling program and that it had overloaded the restaurant. The employees did their best to deal with the situation but the pressure on them was tremendous. Our waiter got so flustered that he accidentally gave me a carafe of white wine to add to my vodka and he gave my tonic to another in our party who had ordered the wine. Wine and Vodka are not a good combination! He really was flying around trying to get everyone served so we all laughed about it and the quickly set it right.

Have to say the inability of the kitchen or the wait staff to bring out food to the table was the worst experience I have ever had. Arrived before the reservation which was T 6:15, we were seated within 10 minutes. Waiter then took about 15 minutes to approach the table and take drink and salad order and main courses. Thank god we ordered a salad as we had informed the waiter we had an event at 8 PM. At 7:40 with still nothing other than original drink order and the salad that was delivered asked for the tab. \n\nWe observed others in various areas of the restaurant arriving after us receive prompt attention and their main food courses - while we sat..... Of course we were informed which seemed to be an excuse that they were having difficulty getting the food out of the kitchen. \n\nIf planning to eat at this place before an event I guess you need to give at least two and a half hours (and hope that all you have to do is walk across the street to Benaroya Hall for your event.

The restaurant wasn't out of the item, their sous chefs simply hadn't prepared it yet since we dined at 11:45am and the restaurant opened at 11:30am. The service level has also dropped in recent times as well and not as good as it used to be.

We have eaten at Wild Ginger many times. They were off their game on this occasion. Was still good but not very good or excellent as is typically the case. We ordered appetizers and main courses. After a very long wait, everything arrived at the same time. The Fragrant Duck, one or our favorites, was dry and bland. Wine service was erratic. Final note is to avoid tables on the mezzanine level just above the kitchen. Dealt with smoke wafting up from time to time during the meal. A lack luster dinner given our high expectations from Wild Ginger but we will be back to give them another chance.

Stylish venue near the symphony, with very good service. The food is good with quality ingredients, but not outstanding. The Szechuan beans were dry and limp and didn't have much punch. The tuna, which was an excellent cut and nicely seasoned, was clearly not seared to order.

Not quite the best visit we have had. Our order was not placed correctly...example, ordered large green beans as an entree and received a small order as an appetizer...and they were rather cold. The rest of the dinner and service was quite forgettable. This is the second time the service and food was not so great. Think it might be time to move on. Too bad given my wife and I are Vegan and they have a decent vegan menu. Perhaps we will give Wild Ginger one more shot.

We hadn't been in a number of years, but had good memories from our last visit. The service was poor this time with one glass of wine delivered with debris floating in it. It took 10+ minutes and a reminder to get a replacement. Two of the curry entrees were served only lukewarm and they were pretty bland. Kung Pao chicken was decent. Pad Thai was not delivered to the table. After a reminder it came 15 minutes after other dishes - hot and very tasty, but without the prawns we'd ordered. 0verall pretty disappointing given their reputation and the price. Likely won't be back.

The same friendly guy with glasses who's always there, was our server once again. He's always nice to be around and seems genuinely interested in your enjoyment of the food and the place. I admit I almost always have the same dish here, the Thai noodles, which are some of the best noodles in town. A mushy-rice dessert with mango and warm coconut sauce was also excellent, all perfect comfort food. Salmon skewers, perfectly cooked. The Wandering Sage soup, also outstanding, lovely flavors and fine dumplings. All in all, a fabulous experience. We had reservations and were initially seated at a dark, tiny upstairs table and it took an eternity to get us reseated, but things were fine after that.

WG has consistently been one of our favorite Seattle restaurants for years (since they were on Western Ave!). We love their flavor profiles, their use of fresh herbs & their delicious fish & their duck BUT...they have definitely reduced their portion sizes & raised their prices. We ordered 8 different dishes- 5 mains, 3 sides + rice, all the largest portions available for 4 of us (to put it in perspective 2 women weighing 115 & 125 respectively, 2 men weighing approximately 170-180, not a group of enormous eaters by any means). We had a few green beans & some papaya salad left over + some rice. We actually over ordered hoping for leftovers. We all felt like we got 'tastes' of things rather than an actual meal. As far as the setting- this restaurant can be NOISEY ( like in its impossible to talk to your table mates over the din) so when I reserve I always ask for a 'quieter table'. The last 2 times we've been there they have seated us in the small back room which is brightly lit & pretty sparsely decorated without much warmth or atmosphere & we commented that we felt like the 'bad kids' being punished & not allowed to be w/ others. So- I guess my review is- fantastic food, so-so setting (choice between noise or backroom), & expensive for what u get. Oh yeah- don't know if it was because of being in the back room or not but had to remind server that we had soup coming, he forgot to bring our rice & when we asked for our rice he brought us a mixture of brown & white even thou we had requested just brown.

Wild Ginger has always been one of my favorite spots in Seattle. However, I'm learning to dislike Wild Ginger over the past two years because of how fast the service is declining. Each time I've frequented Wild Ginger, the service has been passive aggressive and rude. It is not unusual for drinks and dishes to go completely forgotten. The food is fantastic, but the service is exhausting. Here are just two instances:\n\nI came here with my boyfriend for our anniversary about two months ago. We were first attempted to be seated at a regular table in the front next to a huge group of kids, despite us both being extremely dressed up for a special occasion. We had to request the room in the back. We were never once asked if it was a special occasion. Within five minutes of ordering, they served us and made it very clear they were in a hurry- at 5:30 PM on a Friday. As I walked from the women's bathroom to my seat, one of the staff WHISTLED at me and went 'Damn, you're tall!'. I was EXTREMELY uncomfortable and wanted to leave as soon as possible.\n\nThis past instance, I attended the restaurant with several of my girlfriends. We are all 20. When asked if we were 21, we responded honestly and said no; the hostess then proceeded to snatch the wine menu and groan at us, as if how dare we eat in our restaurant if we weren't old enough to order alcohol! The table next to us had all of their jackets hanging up on our side of the booth, even hanging over into the booth. When I asked the hostess if their jackets could be moved to not impede on our space, she firmly told us no. This was a rough start. Our waitress was very kind, but again, did not give us the full respect as if we were alcohol-purchasing patrons.

11/17/2016 Arrived early, one small party in the door ahead of me, however when the hostess started seating, six other parties who arrived after me were taken care of. No explanations. I was tucked off in a back corner of the secondary dining room, no option about that though this was the first seating of the day. Service people were racing at first, then calmed down. Crispy spring rolls presented as lettuce wraps and lamb satay made up for a good deal. The lamb skewers were generous, flavorful and hot from the grill. They hit the table first, quickly followed by the spring rolls. I tested the dipping sauce and found it too spicy hot for my taste. My wait person made a fresh, less highly seasoned edition which worked very well for me. The two dishes served well as a light lunch combo. There were quite a few items on the menu which tempted; I would have to go back and give them another try.

There were two of us with a reservation for 7 on a Friday night. We were seated right away. Hostess staff was welcoming and friendly. Found a lovely bottle of wine from their extensive list. We are from the East Coast and we're very happy to be drinking all west coast wines on our 5 day visit to Seattle. We ordered Buddha Rolls, Hawker Beef, and Kom Pot Short Ribs to start. The spring rolls were tasteless, the hawker beef was really good, and the short ribs were chewy and tough. Service was hectic. Lots of servers moving very fast all around us even though the restaurant wasn't full. Twice, someone came by with dishes asking if they were ours; they weren't. \nFrom the Mains, we ordered the house special fragrant duck and Thai Noodles. After many visits here, I can say there is one thing on their menu I really love: the Mekong hot and sour soup. It is available as a meal-size portion even though they don't say so on their menu for reasons which are unclear to me. Just about everything else on the menu seems overpriced and under portioned: For example, $18 for a little plate of calamari, with some lumpy sauce? Good thing we didn't order the $13 version - it would have been about three pieces each. This place seems inexplicably wildly popular, but that soup keeps us coming back.

I would recommend to a friend with a caveat about the slow kitchen. We have dined at Wild Ginger two times within the past four weeks. We reserved in advance, once for 5:30 and once for 6:00, which are early meal times. The restaurant was unusually busy both times we ate there. As always the food was good, but both times the kitchen was exceptionally slow getting our orders out to us. Since we were going to Benaroya Hall events, the lateness of our food caused our fourseome to skip coffee and dessert, so the restaurant lost out on a larger bill. We need to come over to the city by ferry and car, so it is a hardship to set aside more than two hours to have a meal before an event. We want to come back, but we are considering going to another vicinity restaurant that has faster service if we need to eat before a concert or a show.

Previously, we have had good experiences at Wild Ginger. This time, we were herded upstairs, even though I expressed that I had a much compromised knee, saying that it was so quiet up there.... quiet for about 20 minutes and then we could not hear ourselves speak. The lamb chops had huge amounts of fat on them, and the green chicken curry was sparse, but with a very undesirable taste...we are not neophytes to different foods. Yes, we are older, but discriminating folk re: food. I think we were sadly missjudged. \n\nJoyce MacDonald

I've heard nothing but rave reviews for Wild Ginger and it's my friend's favorite restaurant, but I found the food totally underwhelming and Americanized. Way too sweet and sauce-heavy, not enough of an umami flavor. I give Wild Ginger credit for making a vegan menu available, but I got the distinct impression that the chef(s) simply remove non-vegan ingredients rather than work on creating similar flavors by replacing them with different vegan ingredients. Other vegans and vegetarians will know what I'm talking about! The flavors overall just fell a bit flat. And even if you're not vegan, I would recommend going to a Thai restaurant like Jamjuree or Jhanjay if you're looking for more authentic flavors. Jhanjay is all vegetarian, Jamjuree is not, but they're both really good.

We arrived late (traffic) but were received extremely courteously and treated like royalty. Our half bottle of wine and meal were served super-quick so that we had time to relax and enjoy it. The duck is great, as are the lamb chops. We added a half of beans, which were crisp and garlicy - worth it. This is a high class eatery, but the prices are not exorbitant.

Grreat food at wild ginger - always go for the duck and the beans. We arrived early at 5.30 and the service was prompt and attentive. Our friends came half an hour later and things had really slowed down by then as the restaurant filled up. I did not like the booth we were in and preferred the other room with cane chairs and a view. Wine list is excellent and they have many half bottles.

Seated 40 minutes after our reservation, leaving less than an hour before a concert reservation across the street. Great recovery by the server, who recommended fast-serve dishes and comped both wine and salad. But a restaurant that's been on business this long should have a better handle on its reservations. And when things get that backed up, the reception staff should take the initiative to offer the waiting crowd appetizers or wine or something other than smiles and crossed fingers.

I have been dining at Wild Ginger for decades and have always had a satisfying experience. My husband and I went there for dinner a couple of nights ago before an event across the street. It was the worst dining experience that I can ever remember. At first the waiter delivered our wine and appetizers rather promptly. We told him we had an 8:00 performance. Then we placed the order for the rest of the meal. One hour went by and he never came near our table again. With 25 minutes left before the performance we started flagging down other waiters. No one would help us. Finally our waiter came over and said he would check with the kitchen! Five minutes later we got our food. We had five minutes to eat and it took another five minutes to get the bill. Wild Ginger actually had the audacity to charge us for the food.

We had reservations for 6:15 PM, to allow 1:45 prior to the start of Norah Jones' concert at Benaroya Hall next door at 8 PM. We arrived at 6:20. At 7:00 there were still a bunch of us with 6:15 reservations waiting to be seated. It was 7:05 before we were seated.\n\nBy then we had studied the menu and we ordered our food right away. We asked about ordering a cocktail, and finally someone came by and took our drink order. \n\nThankfully, our food arrived within 15 minutes, but by then we were feeling so rushed that we had no opportunity to enjoy it. And it was another 10 minutes before our cocktails were finally delivered, and the ones that got delivered were not the ones we had ordered. Ten minutes after that we were finally handed the cocktails we had ordered, which left us 10 minutes to chug them down before we had to pay our bill and leave.\n\nWe heard lots of 'so sorry to have kept you waiting' and indications of puzzlement about the lack of available tables. But I can think of no excuse for why a restaurant that's been next door to Benaroya Hall for 15+ years could not do a hugely better job, for their reservation-holding customers, than they managed to do this past Wednesday.

I thought the whole point was that your table is ready once you make a reservation... not to wait for another hour... at that point we had only 50 minutes left before our concert would start so we went to a different place. The communication could have been much much better, why would I go back to a restaurant that doesn't honor your reservation time?!! It has been a long time since I've been to Wild Ginger, and it could have been a lot longer. The food was generally good but not great, and not at all spicy, even when we were warned about it. (The food used to be great, back when they were on Western). My wife's 'Rob Roy' - which should have been a classic cocktail was indistinguishable from a Roy Rogers - in fact it was a Roy Rogers - in hindsight. We were too polite about the lack of serving etiquette by not speaking up when the waiters served me first: both with drinks and with food. It was a mistake repeated throughout the night as they attended to me, not the lady at the table. Not impressed, and not to be repeated. The best food of the night was the green Papaya salad and the green beans which were perfectly cooked. The presentation of the Ahi tuna was beautiful, but the fish itself was tasteless and served with an overpowering cumin infused sauce. The seven flavor beef was tasty but a tiny portion, and not at all spicy. All in all - we were thankful for not having to walk far in the rain to Benaroya, but next time we will find a better dining experience. #dining fail. #notrecommended

It turns out one of them is a Thai food lover. \n\nOur server was super friendly and after taking our drink orders we asked if she or the chef could just plan our lunch for 6. She asked if we had any food restrictions or dislikes and out came the appetizers and followed by the main dishes. They wisely included my favorites, like Buddha rolls and fragrant beef and duck with the little fresh buns. They also provided just the right amount. We only had a tiny bit of food remaining. I think they reached a most excellent level of umani. \nThe staff was courteous, friendly, and helpful. Without knowing our budget, they helped guide us in our wine choices, and even though they are very proud of their top priced wines, they quickly backed down when they understood we were not interested in spending so much on wine. My wife and I came here to celebrate our 35th before seeing a concert at Benaroya. I have been here before, this was her first time. We ordered half portions of numerous items so as to try a variety of foods and all were delicious. The duck and the seven-flavor beef were (and always are) big hits. The tables for two seemd a little crammed, as we and our neighbors had a hard time getting in and out without bumping charis, but other than that this was a great restaurant and a perfect start to a great evening.

We have eaten at Wild Ginger on and off for 20 years as it has grown, moved and evolved. It has always offered a fine, dependable choice downtown, and a perfect choice for First Thursday art walk.\n\nWe started with the Seabass Lettuce Wraps which were, as always, sublime. A sure-fire winner, served with a delicious Pink Ginger cocktail.\n\nThe mains were a little less successful tonight - the green papaya salad was cut too coarse, making it a chewing chore, despite a nice sauce. And the special Soft-shelled crab was delicious but had lost its crunch in the sauce before it got to the table. Next time, we'd request the sauce on the side! \n\nOverall a good meal if not a transcendent one. We'll be back.

I am not in the habit of writing negative reviews, but after reflection, I must, in this case. I arrived on time for my 5:45 reservation, in plenty of time for my 8 o'clock concert across the street, or so I thought. The sommelier gave a medium hard sell pitch, without asking if anyone at the table wanted alcohol. The waiter was friendly, but major delays ensued in getting to order, food arriving, and there was a wrong entree, which it was obvious the waiter hoped we would accept, after checking that we were not the ones at fault. No quid pro quo was mentioned. More delays before the table was bussed, after which no one asked if we wanted dessert. It was also the birthday of one of my party, which they mentioned(!) as we arrived (boo, surprise ruined), and then neglected to provide the promised birthday dessert. I tipped my usual 20%, not wanting to leave a tip that would reflect the service, at the same time vowing never to return. Btw, I am a member of a nearby business, and boycotting these folks is inconvenient for me, but I would feel like a prize fool to do otherwise. They seem to be understaffed. If not, then they are merely inept or uncaring. Perhaps not ordering alcohol (do I care that they have 2000 wines if I don't drink?) disqualified us from decent service. Dinner, without appetizers or dessert, took almost 2 hours. I got the distinct impression that our table was finally bussed only so they could seat the next saps (sorry, patrons). I do hope that this restaurant gets what they deserve despite their first class location, so the site can be put to better use. I used to love this place.

We made reservations at Wild Ginger for dinner after a Benroya performance. We had seen the website and were anxious to have some good Thai food. We ordered Panang curry, sea bass, duck and egg rolls for an appetizer. Brown and balsamic rice were also served. The egg rolls were pretty good, but not outstanding. The presentation was good. The panang was a scanty portion and was cooler than room temperature. The sea bass had an excellent flavor and texture, but again, was cool, not even warm. The duck was good and presented well, but once again, it was cool. Service was excellent. So, we agreed that the meal was 'OK' but not outstanding. Our local family owned Thai restaurant is much tastier and the food is hot! The surprise, however, was in the check. After we left the restaurant, we checked the bill. Last listed on the bill was a $12 'gramercy' charge. Thinking we were missing something, I looked up 'gramercy' and saw that it was a reward, or gift. I spoke to a friend of mine and this was the explanation. The 'gramercy' charge is a built in tip that is charged to the customer. There is no ability to have it retracted. It is in response to the newly established $15 per hour wage law in the City of Seattle. Evidently, people have begun reducing their tips in Seattle and the gramercy charge, given to the server, is in response to the reduction. However, not realizing what was happening, I also gave a 20% tip as is my habit, but, with the 'gramercy' charge, my tip was over 28%. So, if you're going to Wild Ginger, reduce your tip by the gramercy charge. I have to say that the experience was mediocre at best.

We had just started drinking our wine when-within 5 minutes after ordering-part of our meal was served; the satay I ordered didn't come for a while. As always, great service, cocktails, and food. Four adults ordered a combination of appetizers and main courses, shared family style. Everything was well prepared and nicely presented. We arrived early and enjoyed a cocktail at the upstairs bar, which is a bit more secluded and cozy than the perfectly nice main bar downstairs. Our large dinner order came out in good time and in stages, which means we were always eating hot food, rather than trying to work through a large selection of dishes all at once after a long wait. We were seated at a table with padded bench seats, which were comfortable. Staff are friendly and helpful. Great dining environment in the heart of downtown.

In spite of reservations AND telling them we had a show to get to, our service was horrific. We sat down and they didn't come for 20 minutes before taking a drink order. It took another 15 minutes to get the the drinks. While we waited for drinks, finally a manager came by and said he would 'fire our order quickly'. We got our appetizer quickly and then no other food came out. We couldn't get anyone's attention. An hour after sitting down, we finally had a server come over and he said he would get a manager. A different manager came. said he would figure it out. Our food then came about 10 minutes later. We noticed one dish was missing but no one came back until our bill arrived with the missing food on it. By now our pre-show receptions was almost over and our show was starting in minutes. When the manager came by and we pointed out the missing food, he said 'That is why I asked you if you had everything, I could have solved that problem had you told me.' Problem was....HE NEVER CAME BACK TO ASK how our meal was, see if we needed other drinks, anything. While they did comp the one order of drinks we had and the appetizer, it didn't make up for the manager basically blaming us for a missed order, crappy service, 10 minutes to eat dinner, missing our reception, and the horrible ambiance of the back of the bar. Never again. If your restaurant is across the street from one of the biggest venues downtown you had better figure out how to deal with pre-show rush. And if you don't...never blame the patron! Ridiculous.

There's a great Chinese restaurant in NY called Shun Lee Palace. Wild Ginger should be renamed Shun Palace. I've been eating here for many years, and it's been going down hill since it moved uphill. The 'signature' duck was dry, and the 'large' portion consisted of large portions of lettuce and parsley with a small portion of duck. Green beans and tofu were o.k. First time visiting Seattle. I am a total foodie, coming from SF it's unfair to compete with the level of dining we have in SF so possibly I'm more critial. I asked several friends where they recommended and based on their recommendation I was excited to try Wild Ginger. We went for a very late lunch. Was so disappointed in the lackluster atmosphere, I felt like I was dining in a large banquet room void of any décor and personality. We had the 3 dishes, Kung Po Chicken was fine, nothing special, served luke warm, the brown rice was cold, we have the green curry chicken which arrived barely warm and drowning in coconut milk you could barely taste any green curry, if fact when the dish arrived the sauce was white in color, so I knew I was in trouble. Didn't take more than one bite of it. The only redeeming dish was the ahi Tuna that was sitting on a delicious sauce that complimented the tuna. All in all I won't be returning based on how disappointed I was with this meal, bummer.

We dined with friends, both of whom had mild hearing issues. It was the night of a massive wedding or reception event in the bar right below our table. It was almost impossible to talk. Honestly, if WILD GINGER is going to cater events, it needs a separate catering area. Simply moving everyone into the bar doesn't work.\n\nOtherwise, the food was excellent.

The server was great , attentive and the somelier was knowledgeable about pairing our wine with our meal. We often dine at Wild Ginger before seeing a show at the 5th Avenue. Since there are so many wonderful choices, we share large and small plates. The duck and the lamb are our favorites, but last night we discovered the sea bass with peanuts. Yum! We like the option of brown rice rather than white. Oh - and check out the cocktail list! Our waiter was very fun and massively accommodating to my gluten intolerance. He was attentive to our needs throughout the night. However, the food was great and decently priced.

We love Wild Ginger. The food and service are both excellent. Unfortunately, while both were still true this time, there appeared to be some organizational problems. The 'specials' list in my menu was outdated. When I ordered the soft shell crab, they didn't have it so we substituted another item. The server arrived with salmon satay, apologizing that they were also out of the substitution item (this at 5 p.m.!) and saying the satay was complimentary. It was, however, on the bill. This isn't the Wild Ginger we're used to. We'll go back, hoping this was just a bad night.

We went one evening recently because we'd heard such good reviews from friends and we were in Seattle . All I can really say is that it was 'ok'. The staff were pleasant. I felt that the place was a bit too large to be able to produce perfect food for so many. We had the duck which they are well known for and it was a little over cooked. A bit dry. Our bad experience started when we received our food. We had a friend in the party that has a gluten allergy and she had ordered Kung Pao Chicken with white rice. As she started to eat, she noticed little pieces of wide noodles in her food. The waitress apologized and had the manager come to our table, who then apologized again and gave us $7 off our bill. I ordered Passion Tofu, which is a vegan dish. I had most of my lunch left over so I asked for it to be boxed, intending to eat it for dinner. When I got home and got ready to eat the leftovers I discovered two shrimp tails in my food. Not two shrimps! Two tails, like someone had eaten off of it! I called and talked with the manger. She remembered us from lunch so she apologized again and offered to credit back the whole amount of the check, if I had my receipt, or send me a gift card. I opted for the gift card thinking we could give this place another try. I gave her my address, which is two blocks from the restaurant, and 12 days later I still have not receive the gift card. Went last friday w/friends (4 of us total), for me it was my first time. Overall it was good- had potstickers which were large and probably the overall favorite of the evening, also had some satays to start: prawns, pork, thai chicken. The sauce for the pork was good but in general I thought they were all just ok and expensive, the prawns were probably the best of the 3. For dinner we shared 7 flavor beef, duck, mandarin chicken, and green curry. The beef was the best of those, the duck was fine but a little bland and expensive. The green curry was the biggest disappointment- dry and very bland. We had cocktails and wine too, those were all good as was the service. Overall we had fun, it's good to go with more than 2 people so you get to try more things.

Also had a beef dish with this thick, ultra-sweet, sticky sauce--like you'd get at a low-end restaurant. The only decent dish was the sauteed green beans. It actually came a few minutes after the meal. Then delivered food had no serving spoons so she left again for a bit to get serving spoons. She removed my wine glass early on to then never ask if I'd like anything else. The food was ok, they did a nice job catering to a food allergy. We were really excited to try Wild Ginger, based on the number of highly rated reviews. When we got there, we were surprised by how large the restaurant space is, and even questioned how they retain quality with such a big dining room. We ordered the special Kobe beef satay which was really not exciting. I expected a flavorful marinade or something, but alas... One of the pieces of meat was even too chewy for me to swallow. We then tried the Thai Noodles and the duck dish, which is the specialty of the house. The duck was actually pretty good. Very rich, and even the small portion was a good size to share. The Thai Noodles were basically flavorless. I think there may have been some kind of oil or something on them, but that was it. The seafood inside the Thai noodles was also flavorless. A total bummer, really. \n\nI never complain at restaurants, but I felt like we needed to say something. My partner told the waiter that we were disappointed with the Thai noodles, and the waiter totally surprised us by bringing us two free desserts and a small glass each of port. He also took the noodles off the bill, which was even more gracious. We ended up leaving feeling better about the situation; however, I don't think either of us will return.

We booked a table to dine before an evening at the Seattle Symphony and made the waiter aware of our time constraint (our booking was for 5.30pm and we asked to be finished by 7pm). Service we found to be rude and brusque. When our main courses arrived before our starters, our waiter very rudely told us that we had somewhere to be so that's just what would happen. \n\nOther disappointing lowlights of the dining experience included drinks taking 10 minutes to arrive and our food taking 45 minutes to arrive after we were seated. The service and timing definitely let Wild Ginger down as the menu, food and cocktails are good. \n\nOur dining experience at Wild Ginger was a big disappointment and added stress to what we intended to be a special and relaxed dining treat for our family guests visiting from England before taking them to a concert.

We got a reservation just an hour earlier thru Open Table on a Saturday night, and we were seated promptly & pleasantly at a great table! Service was friendly, knowledgeable & perfectly timed. I had the Wild Ginger Fragrant Duck I so love & it didn't disappoint, we also had Prawn Phad Thai which was nicely flavored. We always enjoy the food, service & ambiance, it was a highlight for our date weekend in the city!

We were seated in what must be a private room for parties but it felt weird and lacked the normal lively ambiance we are used to at Wild Ginger. Next time, I will ask to be seated somewhere else as I felt like this would have been better suited for older diners who need a more quiet setting.

We've eaten here a number of times and have always come away completely satisfied. Food is unique and delicious. They have sommeliers and the thickest wine menu I've ever seen. The featured reisling special menu was about 19 pages long. A little on the expensive side--expect to pay well over $100 for two for appetizer, drinks and meals.

Wild Ginger was a fantastic spot for a romantic dinner. My husband and I were thrilled with the taste of the food. Our dishes included Wandering Sage Soup, Thai Curry Skewer, and Pot Stickers for appetizers, as well as Kung Pao Chicken and Pad Thai for main courses. The Pad Thai was a little bit spicy but manageable (I can barely tolerate hot). The only dish I would not recommend was the thai chicken skewer, I found those unappealing and a bit tacky. My husband, however, liked them. The Mango Palmer and Wandering Sage Soups are absolute musts and to die for.

Our service was really bad - wait staff did not make you feel welcome, service was slow and not accommodating. I was so looking forward to dinner and the experience side feel way short. Food was good. I will not go back - expected so much more.

We always go here before or after the Symphony. The dumplings and spring roles are very good, but if you want to be blown away, order some exotic shellfish or seafood preparation on the special menu, because that will be prepared by a great chef, rather than a prep cook. Also, we learned on this last visit that they have a leather-bound tome filled with exceptional wines at prices that may not have been updated, so we ordered exceptional burgundies at prices that seemed a decade old. This is a truly exceptional restaurant most nights! Sit in the room with windows facing the streets and watch the crack deals go down outside and be illuminated by ambulance lights! Seriously, this place is not to be missed!

Wild Ginger was teeming with tourists, but we had a reservation. Came early, but great bartenders in the bar. Great server at our table in the 'Union Room.' Can you tell we are regulars? Lettuce Cups, perfect as always; Green Papaya Salad, perfect but very spicy. Pinot Noir perfect too. Then came the Black Bass or Sea Bass entree, which we almost always order. It comes two different ways. One was not available that Saturday, so ordered the other. It was stringy and chewey, odd for bass, so we told the waiter. He apologized and the manager appeared with the other preparation, but t too was inedible and way over salted, so we asked for the check, which excluded the unfortunate bass. Sea Bass and Black Bass are ambiguous names for a variety of fish. Maybe they changed suppliers, bought it frozen, or overlooked it, or had a new line cook. Anyway, they were gracious not to charge for this embarrassing mistake and we will always go there when in Seattle. Great place. Must be hard to manage consistently!

We think we finally figured out why our Wild Ginger experiences have been so erratic. We were ordering the most popular, easy to prepare dishes, like pot stickers, lettuce wraps, Kung Pao beef, five-spice beef, which may be prepared by the second string kitchen staff or trainees.\n\nBy reading every word of the menu, chatting up your server, and ordering less routine, but more expensive dishes, the experience becomes elevated to the sublime! Presumably, the exquisite fresh Sea Bass, scallops, and citrusy Hoisin wok fried prawns are not left to the beginners and trainees to prepare, because they are savory, sophisticated, and seasoned with experienced restraint and presented with style. We are once again excited about this Seattle stalwart, and eager to return. There isn't a tastier Sea Bass in the planet. The wok fried prawns, perfect. Ordering off the beaten path seems to be the trick. Leave the family-style favorites to the big groups and put the chefs to work doing what they they are best at. Dig deep into the menu, find an ingredient you love, and trust them to blow you away. You won't be disappointed. We shall return! See you there.

The food was good and well prepared. The wine steward was helpful. However, when we asked to be reseated so we were not next to a serving station, we ended up in an attic space next to tables with young children. It was very warm and noisier than where we were. Unfortunately the setting spoiled the meal. There were other tables on the main level they could have moved us to. Questionable about whether we will go back.

I pass through Seattle two or three times a year, and this is my go-to dinner treat if I'm in town for just one night. Two or three appetizers or small plates make for a lovely array of tastes, presentations, and culinary discoveries. The service is always friendly, helpful, and knowing, and never rushed. Plus, it's conveniently close to the center of downtown, a short walk from Pike Place Market.

We've been here several times before, but this time were disappointed. The booths are very cramped (maybe we've never been in booth before here), service was slow and we had to repeatedly ask for one of the main courses that seemed to have been forgotten or served to the wrong table.\nAnd all of us agreed, much of the food was bland. The papaya salad and the Kung Pao chicken had little flavor. \nOn the positive side: the Mango mojito was very nice!

Six of us were going to a concert at Benaroya Hall and the staff asked about our schedule when we were seated. Two in our party were very late (famous Seattle traffic) and the server was not only understanding but accommodating. The food was delicious, and healthy - there wasn't a dish we had that we didn't like. We enjoyed the family style eating that allowed us to try many dishes. But most of all, our waiter (Tommy) was outstanding. He accommodated our late arriving friends very well, was helpful, friendly and attentive - our experience could not have been better.

We had one of the most memorable dinning experiences at Wild Ginger. We have eaten in many fine restaurants all over the world, but it has been a long time since we have enjoyed an evening and meal like the one we enjoyed at Wild Ginger. From the service to the food the whole evening was exceptional! Our server Bill was very helpful and attentive all night. By the end of the evening we felt we had dinned with a friend! His recommendations and advice helped guide us thru a menu filled with many exciting choices. Each course was the next step on a path of perfect epicurean delight. I took pictures of each course, and even a picture of Bill so that we will always remember that most special experience. The entire evening was perfect picture of what fine dinning should be all about. We will dine at Wild Ginger every time we visit Seattle! Thanks Bill! You are the best!

The outstanding item was the Siam Lettuce cup appetiser. The seven flavor beef was good but not extraordinary. Ginger ice cream and mango sorbet for dessert (made at the ice cream place across the street, I gather). The mango sorbet was outstanding. However, the ginger ice cream, something that I love, had very little ginger taste and not much vanilla, either.\n\nThe local beer (Hood River India Red Ale) recommended by my waiter was excellent and a good accompaniment to the food.

Food is not there, nothing different from cheap dim sum type of food. What amazed me is their wine list. It's a gem. Properly put together by their management and their sommelier. They are the best as far as management and wine selection. Decor is amazing. Service is great. Food is out of place... I wish they would switch to small portions and French food instead of Chinese... I just don't get such good wine paired with Asian food. It just does not go together. I will come back, but only for the wine.

We were treating and nephew and his new bride to a meal on their honeymoon in Seattle. They were visiting from the east coast. They have specific food requirements and both avoid eating beef. The menu accommodated their food preferences and the food was interesting and tasty. The staff were very helpful with sorting out the staggering wine list, which is daunting for people who are not wine experts. The staff allowed us to sit and visit and did not rush the meal which we very much appreciated. We have eaten at Wild Ginger before and always have always enjoyed the experience.
