Cute rooms, great staff, awesome amenities, and the restaurant "pickled fish" was delicious. Beautiful setting. I would come back in a heartbeat. I was excited for the memory foam mattress but it sort of felt like just a piece of memory foam on a board. Still good a good nights sleep and woke up happy.
We stayed at Adrift with our 2 children aged 3 and 7 for just one night however we were in Long Beach for 2 full days. We arrived early the first day to check in and although I was told the room wouldn't be ready for a little while, I was told I was welcome to the amenities offered in the lobby and "Pickled Fish" which is the restaurant upstairs. There are many options for amenities here and many are fun and free! We had to option to borrow bicycles (although not child size so this is an adult only option), borrow dvds, board games, or puzzles, or get some coffee, tea, ice waters (flavored with orange slices or lime slices when we were there!). They also had a small snack/boutique area in which we had the ability to purchase some of the amazing soaps and lotions that they offer in the rooms, snacks, and if on a romantic evening some lovely wines. Oh, and we were also informed they have a ping pong table and another table game upstairs from the lobby that we could use if we wished. We also noticed they have pet friendly rooms. Our TV was small but really...we were at the beach and although our view was somewhat obstructed by the parking lot, it was still a beautiful view of the beach. They recycle! They provide a list of amenities and guidelines in the rooms so that you know what is offered and what to expect if you decide you like the amazing soaps and take them from the room vs purchasing them from the lobby. I made sure to buy some from the lobby :) Overall, for the price this hotel was well worth it. The original key that we received for our room did not appear to work, however when I spoke with staff they stated that I may need to "jiggle it and treat the door roughly sort of like an old door or lock" I think this was the only frustrating aspect of the hotel because when you are carrying a arms full of stuff from kids or clamming, you don't really want to have to mess with the door in this way.
This hotel has a lot going for it: stylish "repurposed industrial" decor, hard floors (no skeevy carpet), excellent restaurant, located right on the beach, close to the downtown strip. There are board games snd bikes to borrow in the lobby, as well as really good coffee (a rarity in hotels). Most of the clientele are twenty-somethings, but there are families and older couples too. The biggest problem was the fickle hot water, which ran both really hot and really cold many times during a shower. We also seemed to have the misfortune of being in the one room with a permanently fogged over window (it has some sort of calcium build up on it), but the rest of the windows seem fine. No air conditioning or breakfast.
No A/C in room, but did have a fan.
Was nice to have a mini fridge. The black mold above the main door to our room inside. The terrible beds.
Very friendly and helpful staff; charming rooms and overall layout; close to everything! Mattresses were pretty soft and one of our queen-size beds was a bit sink-y.
Free breakfast waffles and coffee. OJ, first come first served. Not enough light in the room. Nice table to sit at and read or play a game but you won't be able to see. I told the manager (friendly fellow) that my cable was out and the entry light was burned out and he fixed one of the two. It's so dark in there I needed a flashlight to operate the microwave. First motel I've stayed at with no carpet. Nice hi def tv but low def cable service so it's a fuzzy picture. Soap dispensers in shower and lav but I prefer a good old bar of soap. Other than that, a great place to stay for the money.
I have nothing good to say about this hotel. The first room had no heat. It was pouring rain and cold. The gal from the front desk tried for about 20 mins. to get the heat to work, then moved us to another room. We had come for the night razor clam tide. After they moved us to another room we left for the beach to dig for clams. After 3 hours on the beach we came back to our room to shower and get warm. My friend said come look at this, and on the pillow was a bed bug. We pulled up the mattress and found a few scattering. We packed our things, called the front desk and the manager wouldn't let us in the lobby area. When the manager finally opened the door he was so confrontational about the situation and said there are no bed bugs. We had one in a zip lock bag and pictures, he yelled get out of my hotel! Challenging us, said to get off his property! and was not going to give us a refund, OR let us get our bags out of the room. We had to call 911. The officers told him if he didn't let us get our things he would be charged with theft. WHAT A NIGHTMARE!
The Hotel was close to the beach that you could either walk or drive on. There were elevators and the rooms were clean, quite and nice. The staff was friendly and at a good price. Pop machine was out of order, and the bed was not comfortable.
The cleanliness and location. We had to wait 1 hour and 20 mins past check in for a room to be available. Could hear everything outside our room door. Totally understaffed from the front desk to the housekeepers. Front desk clerk said she went home at 11:00 pm and returned the next day st 7:00 am.
Newly renovated, this hotel is right in the middle of town and just around the corner from the entrance to the beach. March's Free Museum, a fun collection of oddities, antiques and trinkets to buy, is just next door. Breakfast is good, the staff is excellent and wifi is included.
Absolutely amazing host with great character. Besides the bathroom issues and the bed, which was very comfortable, the room was great. 2 min walk to the beach and close to Downtown for a bite. If a traveler is looking for a hotel for under $80 a night, this would be my go to. The bed was sagging. The tub was clogged. NO ventilation to the bathroom.
The hotel had a hot tub, sauna, and a small fitness center. The staff was willing to accommodate a late check-in and took 10% off for a screw up in booking. The rooms had complementary fridges. The room was very small and the bed was rock hard. The pillows were terrible and there were no extras available. There was no ocean view as described in the ad.
