Leo was very knowledgeable and helpful about local attractions. He spoke very good English which was also helpful to us..The hotel's Homemade Apricot Jam was the best I ever ate. This hotel is excellent value for the price.
Very nice family run hotel in the countryside, in the middle of Austria's wine region. The landscape is very beautiful, and there are a lot of bicycle path in the surrounding hills. The stuff is very nice and helpful, the breakfast is very delicious, and you can taste a home-made jam of the house. The price is moderate compared to other hotels in the region. St. Pölten is only 30km.
We were really impressed with this guest house. The rooms are very cozy, clean and comfortable. Our double room had 2 bathrooms. The location is great to explore the Wachau area. Easy to find and free parking was available. There was plenty of info and brochures about things to do in the area. The place is family run and you can tell that the owners really love what they do - the service, the interior, the food were perfect. The breakfast was great - they offer home made apricot jam, we even bought some to take home. We were very glad with this guest house and will definitely recommend it to friends.
Leo and his staff were welcoming and very helpful, hospitable and had a great sense of humor! I loved this little area north of Krems near the Wachau wine area. A nice alternative to the pricey Wachau areas (Durstein, Spitz etc). Great breakfast (featuring their own apricot jam) and also we ate dinner at the Pension and had a very nice well prepared meal. The local wine was offered (very refreshing) and a simple but good variety of choices for dinner. Great salad, turkey with a lovely sauce and rice, and my husband had a wurst with dumping and sauercraut with beer. Crepes were recommended by the table across from us so we tried them and were rewarded by freshly made skillet crepes with apricot jam- delicious!
We arrived too late for meal but owner kept chef on as long as he could but we were just too late but sent us over the rode for cold platter and very cheap and very good local wine great evening. The owner could not have been nicer recommend to anybody especially value for money and aoricot jam!!! Nothing
Extremely helpful and friendly family; wonderful experience in Austrian family. Strongly recommend.
The hotel is situated in a beautiful landscape and has wonderful peisages in the nearby. The hotel is situated too far from Wien, in the middle of nowhere and has very limited services provided.
During our stay at the Gasthof-Pension Leopold Janu we really enjoyed the cordiality and camaraderie of Leopold, his wife and the rest of the staff. This Gasthof is really well kept and is located in a charming surrounding. The cuisine is exquisite not to forget the copious breakfast served at your table. This is a fantastic place for daily visits of neighboring towns along the Danube. We always enjoyed discussing our daily excursions with Leopold and a glass of local Grüner Veltliner wine upon our return. We strongly recommend this place to anyone and we will return to visit Leopold when the next occasion arises.
I'd a great stay and am totally impressed by their great hospitality! They picked me up and sent me to the trian station, borrowed me a bike and even we had a farewell drink just before i left! The breakfast (and actually the food) was really good. I could even feel they wanna provide the best for their guests. The room's spacious and very clean. The bed's comfortable. very relaxing to stay there with a river just next to it. I definitely would recommend this hotel.
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay - Leo and his partner provided super quality of service, great and large breakfast. The rooms were clean, beds and pillows comfortable, private. Leo is very friendly and knowledgable about Ausrtia, speaks excellent English.
Almost everything The restaurant is overpriced. The ambience in the restaurant is very nice, the restaurant staff is polite and obliging, however, the taste of the food is boring.
Good staff&Good sauna No WiFi&No rental sport wear
Ett snyggt och trevligt hotell till rimligt pris, fin utsikt från flera terasser, trevlig personal. Saknade luftkonditionering
very accommodating staff - traveling with a very large group and the staff did a great job with our needs. when did hotels stop putting clocks in the rooms? and no way to read the one on the TV without turning on the TV. Other than that everything was fine.
cold rooms, no atmosphere
We loved the hotel. It was air conditioned, had internet access, the staff was friendly and it was convenient to the train station and the boat ramp.
Pleasant and comfortable. Good restaurant. Good breakfast. Very convenient for the Danube University. None
We love this place. A gorgeous quiet hotel that puts work way out of your mind. Great place to relax and unwind.
Everything, great room, impeccable service, excellent food. Our first experience with Booking.com was exceptional! None
Food, Danube terrace, Swimming Pool, Hotel atmosphere, Lack of aircondition, reservation system was not up to date, no internet access at the room, too much German speaking TV channels,
Situated directly on the Danube in a gorgeous region of Austria, the Hotel Schloss Durnstein is a wonderful hotel -- great rooms with fantastic views and a very pleasant and helpful staff. Breakfast on the terrace above the Danube was a highlight of our trip.
We had a truly lovely time, from the beginning to the end. We carried huge luggage but they gave us a lift from the pier to the hotel entrance, (we will remember the kindness and patience of the driver who went all through the crowded road) the room was upgraded and superb, the staff helpful and meals delicious. We regret we only stayed one night. I would change the curtains, though there were sun screens so not a real problem. But it would be nicer if they were practical as well, not just decorations.
Romantic atmosphere, perfect service and cuisine, stuff was very helpful
Hotel Schloss Durnstein was a wonderful treat! We had 15 year old daughter with us and she felt like a princess. The hotel restaurant was excellent. Our eyes rolled when they brought out the chocolate cherry dessert. Elegant display and service. Another favorite was the spa. It was beautiful and we had the entire pool to ourselves. Daughter loved the tanning solarium
This is a great hotel with wonderful history. It is a great place to begin exploring the wine area and medieval towns along the Danube. The town is adorable and there are cool ruins a short walk up the hill.
Atmosphere and staff service
ein hervorragendes frühstücksbufett mit sehr guten frischen mehlspeisen, frischen leckeren marillen, ein sehr gemütlicher, kleiner frühstücksgastgarten, freundliches personal
The best breakfast we had in Austria, convenient parking, close to the historic center.
Good quiet location with parking. Brilliant breakfast
free internet and free parking on site. Good location but not central.
Toured the old town and rode bikes along the Danube River. Considered taking a book ride on the Danube to the Melk Abbey but did not have enough time. No.
Friendly and helpful staff.
picked me up from Boat dock and dropped me at station. Daighter speaks good english. fantastic breakfast array. large room and bathroom. lift to some floors
With the US Dollar being so weak, it was nice to have a hotel in Krems that was so reasonably priced. The nearness to the old town, while still having free parking was a plus. Yes, that the bar closed down at 21:00 hours.
Located on the side of town opposite the river. . . but only 200 meters from the old city.
Location is very good. The hotel was clean and comfortable. Owners are friendly and helpfull. Breakfast is fantastic. Everything was great.
This hotel is basically a stacked motel or, as my fellow traveler described it, a chicken coop. The corridors are outside, running around the building, with cheap chain link fencing for a facade. The rooms do not have windows, save the one in the door and a transom window above the door. Ventilation is poor. The toilet is not in the same room as the sink and shower. The wireless internet didn't work. Guests should be warned that if they arrive to check in after 8:00pm, as we did, they will need a confirmation number from the hotel (not the booking service) to check in using the automated card dispenser - which only dispensed one card for the lock, even though the room was booked for two. Only stay here if you have no other options.
Architectural quality of the building. Easy to find location, if a little out of the way. Plenty of parking. Shower/WC facilities were good. Great one night stop in something unusual. TV and internet did not seem to function properly. Size of room, although adequate, was smaller than expected. Distance from town centre was quite a walk but worth it. (Follow the footpath adjacent to the river to the South of the hotel.)
basic, simple, decent hotel
This is a different hotel than the others which I have ever been seen. You are try to applied the cyber hotel such a cyber game ha..ha.. verry good...I am realy satisfy..
Good price, clean room. Free parking place and ulimited free internet. If you check in late, no way to pay cash, and not all credit cards are accepted (i.e. no AmEx). In the room the only disadvange was the light of toilet. To be on you have to be moving, that means that if you take a shower covered by curtain, light will be off...
the region it is in. difficult to get to if not in a car
visit the region of Wachau no excellent run for the money
I have had no idea about tho whole concept of the hotel, but we have been very very positively surprised: the access was clearly indicated on the road, staff is excellent, the hotel room offers everything what is realy necessery for short stay and sport reason of the hotel visit (cycling in Wachau). Breakfast was generous for such category of hotel and relatively good restaurant is accesible on foot distance (50 m). So we do not more regret that other hotels have been overbooked in this time there :-). Any !
Exactly as I expected - clean functional room at a good price. Convenient location for a driving holiday. The location was in a bit of an industrial area, a few km from the city centre. Not a problem if you're driving, but it would be a bit of a long walk.
The hotel was clean It6 was too far to walk into durnstein.Right on the road but not too noisy at night Drinks very expensive for own vinyard No
Nice room. Nicely appointed. Very energetic, friendly and helpful staff. Outside of town. Too far to walk, certainly in hot weather, but parking in town is easy.
Breakfast was excellent, hotel very clean, splendid view. The hotel is quite hard to find, it is a little too far from the town. The bed had a radio placed at the top of the bed on the middle, very annoying for was because our child slept with us and he kept hurting his head.
the staff was very kind the food (evening ) was excellent the rooms were big clean and comfort hard to find the entarance from the road
staff pleasant and helpful; good food Great selection at brkf. There was construction going on in the front remodeling garden and pool. It was noisy and by the restaurant when we were trying to eat dinner. They worked until late, about 7pm and started again early at about 730am which is early if you are on a vacation and may want to sleep in.
We liked the relaxing atmosphere of the hotel, and the restaurant was excellent. We had a lot of difficulty in finding the way in. It turned out to be a very sharp turn through a hole in the wall under the railway line - off a very busy road.
Very friendly and accommodating staff. Not easy to find. Street address listed does not exist so our GPS could not find hotel.
Very friendly staff, lovely rooms (suites really) and super food. Thoroughly recommended - beautiful location.
Quiet location for relaxing stay. Good facilities and food.
The location was terrific. The bed was a rock. Staff was not great, just ok.
The room had a nice view facing the park with a lot of rose flowers.
warm medieval atmosphere, great dining, beautiful setting and view of the river Danube, fabulous location in old city of Durnstein n/a
This was my 3rd stay at the hotel. Obviously I like it very much. I love the warm reception, the friendly staff, the beautiful antiques, the large, comfortable, clean rooms, the Danube views, the excellent cuisine, the extensive list of superior Wachau wines and sitting on the terrace for meals. The management clearly cares about maintaining and consistently imoroving the hotel. George M.
Very nice and cozy atmosphere, friendly and kind staff, no problem with speaking english, good location for walking around the town.
I liked the help given by the staff at reception and the duvets and bathroom and other amenities provided inthe room. Although luxuries were provided in the room it was very inconvenient--- not enough space to lay things in bathroom,No drawers for storage, the shelves which might have been used were taken up by blankets. robes, pool towels, and safe leaving only 2 empty shelves at a low and inconvenient level. The surface space in the room was minimal and further reduced by brochures etc.In view of the fact that I booked very early I should have been given a room with a view of the water.
We were disappointed of the hotel. The staff was not very friendly (zigarettes in the hand when we brought back the bicicle and so on). For a 4 Star hotel no mini bar!!!! we never have seen this!!
Nice and confortable hotel but a little bit old fashion.According to the standing of the hotel some add ons or updatse would be welcome : fitness centre, real free wifi, meals less old fashion style, reception more dynamic and more helpfull.
Domestic kitchen, fantastic wine, quiet place
good service, family run business, nicely decorated country rooms, excellent breakfast unfotunat;y no garden access to relax in this beautiful surroundings, just a small terrace
Just about everything, especially the warmth of the personnel, the comfort and the location.
The friendliness of the staff, the fact that it's basically touching the Danube, the beautiful village, the surroundings, the beauty of the scenery and the friendliness of the staff. Breakfast was good, varied and plentiful. It also accepts pets at no extra charge. It's also tastefully decorated. No.
Staff were wonderful - very friendly, breakfast was the best we had in Europe. Great location.
Being wonderfully located on the Danube bank, the hotel offers a high quality service and personal, cosy atmosphere. The manager is outstandingly helpful, the rooms are nice and quiet, and the breakfast is plentiful.
The very kind, personal attention of this family-run hotel. Moreover, the excellent breakfast.
At first impression quite ordinary (for the Wachau, which has quite a hight standard), but the service is extraordinarily good because of the manager, who takes a very personal interest. The location is great, the amenities are all sufficient, and the breakfast is bountiful. no.
The room, closeness to centre of Krems, the staff. You might consider providing a slightly more detailed description of the surroundings of a hotel, E.G. fronts on to a busy road - in fact any perculiar feature commented on by guests.
Very nice room, very smart, good location within walking distance of Krems city centre. Easy parking. Breakfast poor - buffet nothing special, extremely undercooked eggs. Pillows in bedroom thin-to-non-existant. Internet access €4 per hour. Elegant hotel and room but no service to speak of and certainly not value for money.
The hotel was close to the old town of Krems and the staff were friendly. The room was clean, comfortable and bright. The breakfast had a good choice of food and drinks and the breakfast room was large and cool. There was no air-conditioning/fan or fridge and as we were very lucky with the weather being 28-32C, it would have been nice to have these facilities. However this did not detract from our stay.
Nice, family run hotel with friendly staff. Well located near the pedestrian area in Krems. WiFi access a little expensive.
Large room with bathroom separate from toilet. Underfloor heating in bathroom. Table & chairs.Very comfortable.
The hotel had characture and was well located for bthe city
The staff are very kind and friendly. The room where we stayed was small but reasonable for the service.
Very attentive and friendly staff. The breakfast was wonderful, the hotel is lovely and well located to the Old Town.
Omfortable & clean with differently decorated rooms. The city style rooms lack of wakling space, where as the country style rooms are spacious. The location is excellent! walking distance to everything.
Clean. Good breakfast. Everybody speaking English.
reasonably convenient for my purpose large room-plenty of space Cooked breakfast was overdone, restaurant was a walk away outside which was OK as the weathwer was fine but if it had been wet or very cold would have been unpleasant. We were expecting a restaurant within the hotel.
Good location, parking, nice renovated rooms. There is not a lift in the house. There was no reception and we had to check in at the bar. The breakfast was for the price we paid very poor.
Simpathy of the staff; location of the hotel very close to downtown; confortable room and good breakfast
The room was on the corner and was huge. The value for our money is one of the best ever.
Please note that we were put in the 3 star Hotel when I had booked the 4 star hotel, when I commented on this we were moved into the 4 star section of the Hotel, I had originally booked the 4 star section of the Hotel. Also, when we transferred we had to take our own luggage up to the new room. There was no service at all in reception, no mini bar in the room, no night porter, the lift was closed at night, service was appalling, in the restaurant we waited for more that 1/2 an hour for the menu, once we finally got the menu and some wine we were then told that the restaurant was closing. The staff was most unhelpful throughout our stay. On the morning we left we had a long trip and requested the bill and were told to wait..... We were not impressed by this Hotel and would certainly NOT recommend this to anybody.I have always been impressed by the Hotels I have booked through Booking.com, but unfortunately not this time!
Wonderful family atmosphere. Excellent, friendly service in wonderful surroundings.
The hotel staff was very kind and helpful and the restaurant served excellent food of very generous portions. The outdoor tables were lovely. The town is in a very picturesque location near the Danube and it is surrounded by vineyards. The rooms were ample and nice. The shower water temperature control did not function very smoothly. Found some pebbles on the carpet of our room, we don't know why.
Super-friendly staff, warmly welcoming us and our dog. Very charming room, in a historical building, where the atmosphere of the olden days is well preserved. Beautiful surroundings with vineyards and easy walking trails.
Hotel staff is very kind and are willing to make you feel comfortable in their hotel.
Everything was fine - friendly, pleasant, well-located, excellent breakfast. Would stay there again if in the area.
Unusual rooms blending old and new leading into intimate courtyard of medieval building. Friedly helpful staff. N/a
Central location, nice and friendly staff
10 mins from city center, nice place with frigo and little kitchen and free parking. Very good price/what you get. Young and nice staff, elevators and a washing machine in the building. Breakfast could be a little better, but for the price is not bad. No air condi but usually that's not a problem.
Free lan access, Furniture, Well-equipped Kitchenette, Private Indoor Parking Poor cleanliness
Beautiful old building in Weissenkirchen, a wonderful little town with many heurigen. It would have been nice to eat dinner in the beautiful hall of the hotel unfortunately only breakfast served.
It probably is one of the best hotels whithin the Wachau region, very well located, opposite the Danube river. The bedroom was spacious and furnished tastefully, including a bathroom and separate toilets. Breakfast was excellent and the staff was very helpful and kind. There was no air cond. It was very hot when we stayed. You can hear traffic from the road when opening the windows together with lovely bird singing early in the morning ;-)
very pleasant staff, beautiful hotel, lovely spacious room
The lounge arrangement The shower should be on the wall
Ancient Ship Master's House that has been convereted into a romantic hotel. Everywhere you look is art or a book that makes you want to learn more. The breakfast was the best during a 2-week trip, including a mocha walnut torte, fresh cheese plates and more. Very friendly staff toppped it off. Mattress needs update. Springs made it uncomfortable. Room 11.
Spacious, quiet rooms with comfortable beds in a small not so touristic village. Modern comfort nicely integrated in an ancient historic building. Good service. Superb breakfast, one of the best ever. No airconditioning.
Family owned and run. Very friendly and accommodating staff . The area was very nice. nothing
We liked everything about our stay here. The innkeeper was very helpful and the design of the building was very nice. We would definitely stay here again.
Great place! My girlfriend and I loved everything about it...it was clean, comfortable and very relaxing. The pool/pond was a big hit as was the late night bar service that was available (consisting of taking beers or wine from the fridge and paying next morning). Staff were very friendly and helped us with a great recommendation for dinner (Klostkeller in Derstein if memory serves which is a five minute drive away and fantastic)...We also liked the hassle-free buffet breakfast (can show up when you want and as late as you want). If we are lucky enough to come to this part of the world again we will definitely stay here...
Owners run the hotel with a lot of love and it shows. They are very hospitable and accommodating. The room is designed for an intimate couple. If you travel with a friend, with the shower cubicle in the room, one person will have to leave the room for the other person to have some privacy. Also, more options for hot breakfast would have been nice.
Nice garden and country view. Family access from staff.
This is a family-run hotel and they were very friendly and helpful. Their English helped us alot too.
Accomodation at vineyard; You can buy the wine produced at the property. None
Helpful suggestions for activities and dining. Excellent breakfast. Pleasant eco fresh water pool.
I liked the owners they were very friendly and helpful.I liked the style of the hotel and the rooms very much. It was very good value and I really liked the pond for swimming.
Everything has been perfect. The staff was just wonderful. The rooms spacious and charming. It is 100% recommended. Our rating: 10! No, everything was perfect!!!
Wonderful staff, very clean and comfortable large rooms. Especially wonderful for families as thier nice equipments. Good location to visit Wachau area by car. Also Nikolaihof is famous for wine field and how their wine taste nice..!! I would say this hotel makes people happy from adults till small children!!
Only the City. Not the hotel It was poorly decorated, dirty walls, bad reception staff and no credit card facilities on the day!
The room was very small. It was difficult to pass to the second bed especially at night. There are a stadium and a large street near the hotel. It was very noisy. The equipment in a bathing room was old. Cranes failed off. The TV was very small and without a control panel. Two evenings we caught and killed fat black flies.
the hotel was at a convenient location. it was nice having breakfast included and wireless internet you couldnt open the windows so it was a little stuffy in the rooms and the wireless internet only worked in the lobby
Location--half way between boat dock and railroad station and 3 blocks from old town. noise--there was activity near the part with load music that kept us awake until late at night.
central location near the altstadt difficult to find as there was no direction sign from the ringstrasse and the given address was in a side street
Rather noisy outside of the hotel: one night there was a soccer match till 23PM, the next night misuc from disco was heard in our room till 2 AM!
No internet facilities available
location Very large tour groups. Front door is locked at 10PM. When we checked in we were told to take room key with us and use it after 10 to access side door. Tour groups either were not told, or ignored the message - and yelled and whistled outside our window all night trying to get someone to let them in.
The location is very good close to the railway station and to basically everything. The window of my room opened to an inner courtyard with a roof, it was a little noisy in the evening since under the roof there is a restaurant.
For the money, I thought it should have been nicer. I would recommend that you check elsewhere before booking here. It is heavily worn, and needs a renovation. If appeared as a nice hotel from the photos, but was more like an economy hotel once we arrived.
staff very friendly,good service
The kindest and most pleasant inn keeper . She even sent us to the train station with her own car to a town some distance away. Her heart is in this business and the welfare of her guests. Perhaps location. Just the town was some distance away from the other town and the train connnection to this town was blocked by rocks for sometime.
very friendly owners, very clean and comfortable rooms in a very beautiful area. Enjoyed very much our stay and will definitely visit again.
A family run hotel which we found very friendly and welcoming, great location, and a lovely breakfast.
Weissenkirche is the heart of Wachau, beautiful countryside. A wine producers next door who present his wine accompanied with cold meals.
The personal service was wonderful and all of our questions no matter how big/small were answered. We would go back tomorrow if we had more holiday time! Highly recommened.
