Pros: Fabulous place and Henri and Patricia are the perfect hosts. Warm, friendly, always on hand to help and simply can't do enough for you...really lovely people. Breakfast is fantastic and the home made pastries and preserves a real treat. Will definitely return, it's a special place that exceeds all expectations, with great rooms and lots to see and do in the area.

Pros: the hosts were very accommodating and friendly and the breakfast that Henri served up was very nice.we loved the outdoor room in the courtyard.great place to have a sundowner and nightcap.
Cons: we only booked for 3 nights i could have stayed for weeks,
8.8 Excellent
Pros: Beautiful property
Cons: The suite not ideal for 2 couples sharing due to only one bathroom which was located in one of the bedrooms.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Personal responsive service very good. God choices for breakfast - continental plus !! Good proximity to Montresor- interesting old village with charming chateau, a must to visit.
Cons: Kettle in room for tea coffee would be good
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Henry and Patricia were superb hosts who did everything and more to make our stay pleasant including dropping us off at a local restaurant so that we could have a drink without worrying about driving. Covered parking for our motorcycles.
Cons: Having to leave after only one night, but I am sure we will go back for a longer stay another time.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Everything. Henry and Patricia were perfect hosts. They went out of their way to ensure that their guests needs were met. They were helpful, friendly, interesting and interested without intruding. Their property is immaculate and tastefully decorated. The bedrooms are spacious and comfortable. The bathroom is well equipped. On two of our three nights there we were fortunate to have dinner with them. Their home-cooked food was simply amazing - better than any of the restaurant meals we had elsewhere. Henry's home-made croissants and pain au chocolat for breakfast were also a joy. There is plenty to see and do in the area with Loches and Montresor nearby.
Cons: Nothing, our stay was too short.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Patricia and Henry are two of the most genuine and hospitable B&B hosts you’ll ever come across. Look no further if you want to experience true B&B hospitality. We regret not having booked in with them for more than a night; we enjoyed our conversations with them, most of which were over an extended fantastic breakfast of home-made crossaints, jams and pancakes, all homemade with love. Their property is beautifully furnished (Patricia was a Professional Decorator), comfortable, and full of pleasant surprises; there is a copious amount of outdoor and indoor seating spaces to lounge in, day or night, rain or shine. A print in our suite’s washroom sums up Patricia and Henry’s spirit: “In this house, we do real, we do mistakes, we do I’m sorry, we do second chance, we do fun, we do hugs, we do forgiveness, we do really loud, we do family, we do love.” We will miss Patricia, Henry and their beautiful property and we look forward to seeing them in the near future.
Cons: Nothing!
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Warm welcome, very friendly. Great facilities.
Cons: A few insects in the bedroom. Not enough space by side if bed to get out.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The house is a beautiful stone farmhouse surrounded by countryside just outside the ancient and charming village of Montrésor. It has been furnished and decorated with impeccable taste by the owners - but beyond that, it feels like home. Patricia and Henri felt like firm friends from the moment we met them.... this was an unexpected and lovely bonus. They pour enormous energy and affection into ensuring that their guests enjoy their stay and, in our case, we felt we were visiting old friends who just happened to give us the best room in the house. We laughed so much over drinks with P&H - a more delightful couple would be hard to find
Cons: Nothing

8.3 Excellent
Pros: Traditional French breakfast.
7.5 Good
Pros: superb facilities, breakfast especially good
Cons: The weather was really cold. The proprietor greeted me on arrival with the words "oh, it's so cold". So, why didn't she put the heating on in my room before arrival? My bedroom was freezing cold and there were no instructions to how to operate the heating. I assumed it was central heating so I couldn't alter it. It was only around 03.00 after waking up shivering - no spare blankets either - I worked out how to put the heating on, by which time I had a migraine because of the cold.
9.5 Excellent
Pros: In a beautiful situation, outside the village. Catherine & Jacky were very welcoming, despite not speaking much English and we lack French, but it wasn't a problem. Breakfast was exceptional - all local/homemade produce. Beautiful bedroom - all that we needed.

Le Presbytère De Beaulieu - Loches - Building

9.6 Excellent (76 reviews)
Overview Reviews
With a stay at Le Presbytère de Beaulieu in Beaulieu-lès-Loches, you'll be within a 5-minute drive of Porte des Cordeliers and Porte Picois. Free self parking is available onsite.
9.5 Excellent
Pros: A very warm welcome on arrival. The property itself is in a quiet location - although there is a school next door we were not at all troubled by noise. The interior accommodation is finished in a simple but very pleasant style, and everything is clean. We were two couples and the beds in both rooms were very comfortable. Self-catering facilities are quite adequate, and the bowl of cherries and the home-made chocolate cakes left for us on the second afternoon were very much appreciated by all! The enclosed front garden is a great space for sitting out if the weather allows, and is well-provided with outdoor furniture. This area ("Loche Beaulieu") is about a 15 minute walk from the main town centre, the route is well-marked and runs across a pleasant area of public open space away from main roads.
Cons: Our only potential criticism of the immediate area is that the estaminet (café bar) near the property did not seem to want to provide any meals although the outdoor signage stated that they do catering and we had been assured by our hostess that we would get a warm welcome there... but no matter, there are plenty of good places to eat in the main town!
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Excellent Location. Most gracious and helpful hostess.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Delightful in every respect. Clean, stylish, well equipped.
Cons: No negatives. All positive. Thank you!

Pros: Loved the welcome and all-round help from Karin. She was great.
Cons: Nothing that we didn’t like. All was very good.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Karin was super nice and welcoming, recommending us very good places to go and activities. The outdoor space of the house is really beautiful, and again, the ambience made us feel like home. 100% recommendable! Hope we will repeat sooner than later! Thanks for everything!!
9.5 Excellent
Pros: Friendly and funny owner, very helpful and accommodating. Free parking 20m from front gate. 5 min walk to local patisserie. Room had the original timber beams exposed, truly amazing to see how they used to build. Across the road from a church built in 1004, I think. 3 or 4 minute drive to Loches town centre which is lovely. Shower was good also.
Cons: No aircon. Wasn’t a problem for me but it will be for some people. Windows and fan do the job. Nothing else to mention. We didn’t use common areas or kitchen so we assume that they’re pretty good if the room is anything to go off.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Wonderful place to stay, plenty of space and very well equipped. Warm welcome, perfect stay
Cons: Nothing
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Lovely warm welcome from Karine who ensured we had all we needed for a comfortable stay. We enjoyed the town of Loches which was ideal for an evening stroll and would definitely stay there again on our route from Roscoff to Bergerac.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Karine provides a fantastic Gîte d’Etape just minutes from the center of Loches. The beautifully restored farmhouse is gated, surrounded by a nice garden. It is quiet and peaceful. The rooms are spacious and have been renovated to incorporate the old building along with modern touches. The bed and shower were super. The shared kitchen and dining room is fully equipped for enjoying a home made meal or a leisurely breakfast. Karine is an inviting and well traveled host, providing a lot of information regarding the surrounding area. This is a bicycle friendly establishment and we were very sorry that we booked only one night. One of our favorite stops so far on our bike trip around France.

Cons: All good

Dinner was remarkable with sitting together with other guests and having a very pleasant evening. Excellent value for money and wonderful place.

Pros: A truly exceptional property. Very comfortable. The large cave where we had breakfast was magnificent. We loved our private terrace where we watched the 'cave' birds flitting to and fro. We also enjoyed the walk to Loches for supper.
Cons: Nothing
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Really unusual, quirky design: extremely well done. The owners helped with local restaurant recommendations and booking.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: An excellent choice for anyone seeking something different, whilst satisfying all the usual needs and wants.
8.8 Excellent
Pros: Les Troglos de Beaulieu is a unique home in a quiet neighborhood across the river from Loches. We stayed in the cabin while our friends had one of the cave rooms. Céline & Stève are wonderful and welcoming hosts. It was fascinating to learn how they have adapted the caves for modern living – including the very large cave that is their living and dining room and where breakfast is served.
9.5 Excellent
Pros: A most interesting experience staying in the old cave carved out of limestone. Many years ago, Celine the owner was an excellent host who gave us a historic review of the caves, The breakfast room and the breakfast was a Wow, You need to visit to appreciate the whole atmosphere and experience,
Cons: The cave could be a little cloustrophobic, It did take some getting used to,
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Celine & Steve were so welcoming and passionate about their property! We loved our stay & and breakfast was great !
8.8 Excellent
Pros: The breakfast was really good. It was very quiet at night. The property was very quirky and interesting being a series of caves. The host was very nice and told us the history of the caves. The bed was comfortable - in fact I had the best sleep I’ve had for many years.
Cons: We would have been happier if we could have accessed the room sooner as we were waiting outside which is what you don’t want after a long drive. Celine explained that she doesn’t allow guests to eat their own food in the room or in the garden which I can understand if you’ve had messy guests, but it wasn’t very comfortable eating in the parking space. My husband found the wash hand basin difficult as there didn’t seem to be a plug so that he could shave. I had a hot bath the night before but my husband said the water was cold so he didn’t get one in the morning.
9.5 Excellent
Pros: We stayed here overnight during the July heatwave - 42.5 degrees on arrival so it turned out to be an excellent choice as the cave was very cool inside. The bed was comfortable and we slept very well. Breakfast in the owners cave was very good. This was defiantly an experience.
10.0 Excellent

Pros: In a fabulous spot in the centre of town
8.0 Excellent
Pros: The owners Mr. Philip and his lovely wife so helpful and cooperative I respect the effort they done with that chateaux . The breakfast was perfect and the location was amazing just under the castle and at night the lights just danced in that place. You might get lost because of the pedestrian road but eventually you will find your way
Cons: The tower room wasn't comfortable with no air conditioning I think it is good for young people because of the long stairs
10.0 Excellent
Pros: It is a beautiful property in a great location in the historic centre of Loche. We had a ground floor garden suite which was very comfortable
Cons: Just a point to be aware of if you are driving to the house- streets leading in are very narrow but they are negotiable.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: If we could rate this stay it would be 20 out of 10. Run by such a charming couple, made to feel so welcome. Breakfast was a wonderful array of freshly made treats. The property has such an amazing history and a privilege to have stayed somewhere so wonderful.
Cons: The fact we had to leave
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Christine and Philip the hosts were very lovely people.
Cons: Nothing
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Beautiful building in a fabulous setting a stones throw from the castle and a short walk to the town centre
Cons: Our room was in the roof and with the extremely hot weather it was too hot at night but we are talking about 38C in the day - very hot!
8.8 Excellent
Pros: Its a wonderful mansion in a great location. Beautiful garden and a great view. Very well restored without changing the atmosphere of this grand place. Very friendly and helpful owners who could give us a lot of interesting information about the house and the city. It is a wonderful place to be, right in the middle of this beautiful town with lots of things to see. The room was very charming and had a great view. The garden infront of the house is just wonderful, with beautiful roses.
Cons: The room was a bit tight, 20 m² sounds like a big room but somehow everything is a tight fit. Also it gets very warm on a sunny hot day since the room is right in the attic and the tiles on the roof are black. There is only a relatively small window profiding no chance to cool off the room in the evening, not even with the help of the fan profided. Parking is a bit tight, not so much space to maneuver your car into a narrow parking place.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: This was our favorite hotel in France. It is such a great historic building. The grounds are beautiful, the room was cozy with a comfy bed. The location is fantastic- but I’d recommend a small car- the roads are really narrow-it’s an exciting drive. Breakfast was lovely and delicious and Christine was so helpful. We really enjoyed our stay completely.
Cons: We were mixed about staying in Loches. On the one hand it’s wonderful- really feels like you are back in time. It’s much less touristy than other places. On the other hand there are not a lot of restaurants (especially Sunday and Monday) and staying there adds a lot of driving if you are seeing any chateaus. If you stay in Loches this is the right hotel.
9.5 Excellent
Pros: The garden and views
Cons: Signposting outside to make it easier to find.

Pros: Overall a good stay , spacious rooms , large bathroom. One suggestion is to provide proper cups for tea and coffee making as the paper cups were very small . Very helpful and friendly staff . Cons: One of the rooms had a bad smell but the staff changed the room without an issue.

Cons: More tea bags in the rooms and the offer of milk. Some more signage to show the place as it was difficult to find.
6.3 Good
Pros: Hotel only one year old and good parking
Cons: Wonderful location - if you like staying on an industrial estate well out of town and where there is no overnight security ie all staff vacate the building at 10.30pm. The restaurant next door was dreadful. If you like Macdonalds or whatever they're called you're in luck as there is one a few yards away. Will

9.5 Excellent
Pros: The location is wonderful, very near the historic center, but by the river, so a beautiful and peaceful position. The rooms are charming, very tastefully decorated, a lovely bathroom, and loads of towels. The restaurant overlooks the river, and the food is simply delicious. Good quality ingredients, cooked perfectly. The staff are charming, and very helpful.
Cons: We had booked a twin room, and were very surprised to be told that there were no doubles available, so not a good start. However, a second bed was found, and everything else was very good. It is a very ancient building, which is part of it's charm, it does have a very narrow spiral staircase leading to the rooms, and no lift. The staff did bring our cases up and back down on departure. In this part of the world the hotels do NOT provide shower caps......not just this hotel, but most of them. Be warned!

Pros: The sound of the Indre and the comfortable bed. The property radiates peace.
8.0 Excellent

Cons: Bathrooms ok but not wonderful
9.3 Excellent
Pros: Position and quaintness
Cons: Stairs a bit tricky with suitcases
3.3 Mediocre
Pros: It’s nothing a bulldozer couldn’t fix...
Cons: Almost everything. What a dump
8.5 Excellent
Pros: The position and outlook the mattresses and cleanliness. They welcomed our dog and there were good spots for her to walk- and swim.
Cons: We thought we had upgraded to a room with a double bed more space and a fan and found we were in the smaller twin room with no fan notwithstanding. The staff made the bed into a double. We also found the restaurant was not open despite the details on site and it being a summer Saturday night. As it happened we had an excellent meal elsewhere.
9.5 Excellent
Pros: The room was very clean. Staff were friendly and helpful.
Cons: Weather was hot, so would have liked a fan in the room, and perhaps a small fridge.
7.0 Good
Pros: location perfect for exploring the town of Loches
Cons: bathroom fittings a bit creaky - shower but no curtain in the bath, a few cosmetic things could have done with some attention. only one way to ventilate the room - by opening the big window onto the main street - no window stays to keep it just open ajar - not good on a stuffy night. also, not clear how to leave early without leaving the front door open - probably down to the language barrier.

Pros: Decent overnight stop fro a group of us on a motorbike trip through France and Spain.. stayed during the recent European heat wave, so the efficient air conditioning was a big benefit.. we stayed in the 'motel-style' rooms, which suited us with bikes out front in easy reach. Food was good, beer was cold, clean and tidy rooms.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Quick overnight stay in Loches on our way back to the UK. Check in was warm and friendly. We were given a twin room which was exactly what we had requested. We were able to park our motorbikes right outside. Heated swimming pool was free, which was great after a days riding. The hotel is situated within walking distance of the town centre. We did not eat at the hotel, but the menu looked very good. Bar staff cheerful and attentive. I would not hesitate to stay again but possibly for more than one night.
Cons: Perfect location.
