Pros: The view was spectacular, as was the dinner.
Cons: Could not have been nicer.
Pros: Location, views, staff attention, food, did I mention location and views? ;) And yes, both Perros (Dogs), especially I liked the lazy one, 3month old :)
Cons: The place was wonderful. Nothing to dislike.
Pros: The owner/receptionist was super friendly and very helpful. Beautiful view from the terrace. Very good and tasty dinner, excellent breakfast. Big room with big and modernized bathroom.
Cons: The cleanliness could be better. Smell from the kitchen in a whole restaurant.
Pros: Lovely breakfast and very friendly staff.
Cons: Terrible view from the bedroom. No AC. Black hairs in the bathroom. Very small TV without international channels. Very poor WiFi. Rubber mattress protectors. Red light from alarm flashing all night.

Free self parking is available onsite.
Cons: The restaurant is expensive
Pros: Beauty of the region/ Quality of the staff/ Good restaurant
Cons: Mostly focused on family holidays. Although the spa is excellent, the hotel lacks of confort, including the gardens. Night garden shows are extremely noisy until midnight in front of the rooms windows with a climax on Saturdays when wedding parties are out of any silent rule during most of the night. Definitively not a place for relaxing in a quiet environment.
Pros: The location in the Sierra de Francia and close to the village of La Alberca is unique and magnificent. Staff are riendly and try their best to help.
Cons: A real shame since it is an outstanding and stunning part of the world. The place is a big joke. The pool was closed. Mealtimes are dominated by coaches of groups and/or events that discriminate against the clients. All facilities and activities are for adults and not children friendly. The staff was very helpful but offered an hour in the middle of the afternoon to include the children. Of course that broke our day and we politely refused. It is a cash machine that gives no consideration to the client wishes.

El Balcón is surrounded by lovely countryside, including forest, orchards and many hiking routes. Pros: The owner was very nice. A very charming old house. The village of Mogarraz is very nice, and is a great base for hikes.
Cons: The floors are made of a very creaky wood. And the couple above me were... well... in quite a romantic mood.
Pros: The location was perfect. Our room was attractively decorated and individually furnished with a pretty balcony looking into the fascinating plaza. The owner was very friendly and welcoming he made us an enjoyable dinner and breakfast. Exceptional value for money.
Cons: Nothing, well perhaps the rain!
Pros: Excellent location almost on the plaza. Free parking is at the top of town in a big timber/truck yard opposite the Spa Hotel. You can drive down to the plaza to drop off your luggage. There is no lift as this is a quaint old original building. Our host was very welcoming and helped us carry our bags. Excellent meal at La Autoctona Taberna.

Pros: Very quiet very helpful, car park at the back Nice & close for carrying bags

Pros: The Hotel was very well situated easy walking to centre of the very interesting village.
Pros: Large room with a private Terrace. Gorgeous medieval town. Plenty of restaurants

Pros: Great value for money. Management was super friendly and check-in was a breeze. The rooms and bathroom was spacious and perfect for two adults and even one 5 year-old squeezed in. Breakfast at 3 EUR was very good value! Location was perfect, only a few steps away from La Alberca town. Ideal for a 2-day stay and as a base to explore the region.
Cons: The room initially smelled like cigarette smoke.
Pros: very hospitable hosts, fabulous location in delightful medieval village
Cons: all great
Pros: We stayed here after changing our route around Spain and Portugal and wanted to meet up with some friends who had just arrived the day before in Spain. They have been to this area before and said we would love the town and we did. Because it was last minute and we needed somewhere with parking for our bike we ended up booking a room here. Parking is in front of the hotel and the bike was safe enough here. The lady on reception who checked us in was very friendly and helpful. Our room was on the first floor overlooking the front of the hotel. There wasn’t many people staying there that night and it was very quiet but we still managed to get drinks from the bar. The room was simple but clean and the bed was comfy and despite the heat we still got a good nights sleep. The bathroom was clean but there were a few cracks in the toilet which worried me lol The hotel is a few minute’s walk into town and what a stunning place it is. It was like stepping back into time. Here you will find plenty of shops, bars and restaurants. Across the road from the hotel is a swimming pool which you can use. Breakfast was simple but was good for the price and the coffee was very nice. Overall a good place to stop.
Cons: No air con but at the price we was charged i didnt think it would have air con.
Pros: The staff were very helpful and friendly. The room was spacious and quiet and peaceful. Breakfast was great and the location was superb.

Pros: Location, service, place
Cons: Location was great
Cons: Room on the four floor.
Pros: Great hotel with character in heart of the old town. Very welcoming staff. Comfortable room. Pleasant bar downstairs serving tapas and raciones. Local people congregated there to watch the Champions League football that evening giving the place a bit of atmosphere. Free car parking on periphery of village only 3 mins walk away. Very good restaurant just across the street
Pros: Nice staff and installations in general. Felt like home!
Cons: Small room, difficult to open some doors. Shower curtain torn. No breakfast included.
Pros: Location is perfect, smack in the middle of La Alberca. Staff very friendly andhelpfull. Room almost too warm, plenty of hot water. Nice snacks and breakfast in bar Which opens at 0700 - a miracle in Spain). You have everything close by: restaurants, bars, stores, church etc.
Cons: Wifi a bit weak, but that is a village wide problem. No parking close by, but that is village policy. Plenty of public (free) parking abt 5-10 minutes walk away. If there's a local holiday or such in the village, some rooms can be a bit noisy - but hey! Go party with the locals then. That's what holidays are for.
Situated in San Martín del Castañar, this hotel is 1.1 mi (1.7 km) from Sierra de Pena de Francia and within 9 mi (15 km) of Plaza Mayor de Mogarraz and Plaza Mayor. Church of La Asuncion and Hornacina de las Ánimas are also within 9 mi (15 km).
Pros: Room good; shower quirky; breakfast good although find it tedious having to wait till 9:00 ( we had a long journey ahead). While the village is very picturesque almost medieval, it was totally dead. It was a Monday but no shops and only one bar where you could buy bottles of beer. I even had to advise some Spanish tourists - hay nada in response to question on places to eat. The village promotes its interesting sites - and walks well. At least the latter don’t rely on opening times!

Cons: having more time to spend there!
Pros: I was on my bike which he helped me store out the back
Cons: Great value nothing to complain about.
Pros: Good location just a short walk from the town. Comfortable room
Cons: There was no off road parking for a motorcycle, but there were no problems leaving it parked on the road.
Pros: Parked outside ,staff very helpful ,WiFi rubbish still would recommend value for money

At Hostal La Alberca all rooms are equipped with a wardrobe, a flat-screen TV and a private bathroom. Ciudad-Rodrigo is 44 km from the accommodation, while Béjar is 46 km away.
Cons: Nothing serious, but the bath drapes could use some improvement.
Pros: Location Parking close and free
Cons: The hotel is a good little hotel for a one night stay. It was clean but we couldn't get the smell out of our room. Maybe the restaurant below caused it or the older facilities/bathroom. The owner/receptionist seemed to not speak English. Luckily I speak some Spanish. She sends out a message in Spanish to ask for your arrival time and to call her 15 minutes before your arrival, number provided. If you can't understand this you won't find anyone. Mostly, the reception is not attended. Having read the comments, we had packed just the necessary things for one night in our backpacks and left the suitcases in the car. The parking is very close on the other side of the road and free. We recommend doing this after having seen the narrow streets, driving mostly being restricted anyway. All in all, if I went back too la Alberca, I would choose this place again for the convenience of its location
Cons: The smell inside the bedroom was unpleasant, but outside the building was worst.
Pros: The location and the views from the balcony.

Pros: This was a spur of the moment booking as we were going to stay two nights in Salamanca. This was such a better option. The hotel was fantastic and while my Spanish is non existent the staff were patient and friendly. The village is off the beaten path and well worth the visit. We had a smashing meal in a little restaurant not far from the hotel and there are some good trails for either runs or walks. Across the road from the hotel is a Jamon butcher and if you going to buy meat from anywhere in Spain it may as well be close to the origin. Do yourself a favour and stop here.

Pros: Good location in a very interesting old town and well worth a visit
Cons: A few smiles from the staff would have been nice. Breakfast not good with cellophane pre packed bread and cakes. Plenty of fresh fruit. Limited options for alternative breakfast
Pros: Lovely hotel and very friendly staff
Pros: Even though staff had no English, they were super friendly and helpful. Even the other guests were friendly, with everyone saying good morning at breakfast. The town is AMAZING, and we all wanted to stay longer (possibly forever)
Cons: Slight musty odour in the rooms.
Pros: Being right at the side of the old town and ample free parking onsite.
Cons: We booked the superior room which wasn't superior! We then moved into a standard room that wasn't standard; the bathroom door wouldn't close & no hot water the first night. Finally, very average breakfast.
Pros: It’s a large hotel which looks as though it caters for weddings and the like. Good location right next to the old town and plenty of free parking. It’s an old fashioned place that needs a bit of a makeover. We had a junior suite which was large and comfortable. Wish the bathroom door didn’t jam on the floor - so difficult to open and close without waking everyone up. The restaurant offered a reasonable set meal for 15€ - good job it did because all the restaurants in the town, except one, were closed Tuesday and Wednesday evening - bizarre. We enjoyed our stay, except for the breakfast, which was dire - worst of the 12 hotels we have stayed in over the last month.
Pros: Location ideal, just 2 minute walk to village, had a nice room, overlooking the garden in the rear. Breakfast was ok, typical continental food. Parking was ample and free. Great roads around for motorcycles.
Cons: The breakfast maybe.
Pros: Excellent location on the edge of the old town. Good car parking. Good breakfast and comfortable room.
Cons: No problems - all good.
Pros: Mainly the staff and location
Cons: The breakfast could be much better, considering that the hotel is in a region that had a lot of very good local products and almost no sign of them in the breakfast.
