Pros: Beautiful quiet little paradise. Very nice and good cuisine for a reasonable price Friendly staff which spoke well english
Pros: Location, pool, wine all very good
Cons: Dinner a little disappointing compared with rest
Pros: Great reception, superb room and facility and wonderful setting on the lake and the Chef/Patron went out of his way to provide us with a magnificent cold supper despite the restaurant being closed.
Cons: Not well signposted.
Pros: Arrival and greeting. The staff were brilliant. Very welcoming and helpful even cracking jokes.
Cons: The weather!
Pros: Tranquillity and peaceful location. Large comfortable rooms and excellent restaurant.
Cons: Was difficult to find despite having GPS coordinates. Some better road signage would help or maybe we were just being hopeless.
Pros: We stayed here for our 12th wedding anniversary, and everyone without exception, did everything they could to make it very special for us. Also, we dined in the restaurant, and I had not told them in advance that I was vegan, as I never like to cause any inconvenience, so usually look for something I can make do with on an existing menu. However, once the chef learned I was vegan, he created a 3 course dinner to accommodate the fact...truly amazing, and so very much appreciated!! We dined on a beautiful terrace, overlooking the lake, and our most comfortable bedroom overlooked the lake also....divine!
Cons: There is absolutely nothing to dislike at this hotel...everything was perfect
Pros: Very quiet, nice pool, great walk around the lake, great setting
Cons: Restaurant closed Sunday and Monday , but they did a nice cold platter in the room
Pros: Fantastic location just outside Angouleme close by but quiet and tranquil. Staff were extremely friendly, helpful and courteous with personality. Food was great and would adapt menu to suit. Nothing was too much trouble. Enjoyed walking around the lake and larger than average swimming pool. Very relaxed and comfortable.
Cons: Would like some more vegetarian options on menu
Pros: Breakfast had a decent choice of cold items but lacked on hot items.
Cons: We were not aware that we would be charged 14 euros each for breakfast and it was very poor for that amount. If we had known we would not have ordered.
Pros: Fabulous setting and wonderful amenities. Boat to row on the lake, pool and lovely walks.
Cons: Slightly dated decor and a very creaky bed!

Pros: We loved chateau charbontiere - the rooms are absolutely wonderful with such attention to detail. Pino was a fantastic host and cooked us a breakfast to die for! Can't recommend highly enough
Pros: Breakfast on the last day was excellent. Valerie was great. We were only able to have one breakfast during our stay as we had to leave too early each morning
Cons: The room and bathroom was full of moths, alive, dead and dying. It was never serviced. The bed remained unmade, coffee cups never replaced with clean ones, only one tea bag each to last three days and the bathroom untouched. We met the owner on arrival and he then went to Paris leaving us alone. The only member of staff we saw was on our last morning and it was her first day in the job.
Pros: We were given a very warm welcome and upgraded to a lovely room with the most comfortable bed ever! It was like sleeping in a wonderful meringue. The bathroom was very new and with smart appliances. We did not expect there to be any restaurants nearby so we had brought an 'evening picnic' to enjoy on the premises. We were given free reign of the breakfast room for this and the very accommodating proprietor provided all plates, cutlery and cork screw! The place is seemingly still developing and was very comfortable in all ways.
Cons: There was nothing we did not like. However, I suspect we were right to bring an evening picnic as the place is fairly remote from anywhere - as far as we could judge.
Pros: Wifi was off due to thunderstorms in the area but phone reception was good, normally wifi is provided. Breakfast was excellent, the grounds are beautiful, the pool exceptionally nice and the most fantastic location
Pros: This property was ideal for us - comfortable beds, excellent showers, spotlessly clean, amazing breakfasts and the wonderful host, Pinno. You need a car if you are staying here and to factor in supplies and meals, but this wasn’t difficult to manage.
With a stay at this cottage in Dignac, you'll be 11.4 mi (18.4 km) from Chateau d'Angouleme and 11.5 mi (18.6 km) from FRAC Poitou-Charentes. Free self parking is available onsite.
Pros: the welcome, quiet and swimming pool
Cons: no restaurant on site meaning we needed to head back out for an evening meal
Pros: The room was large, the setting was wonderful.
Cons: Communication was difficult. I paid for two bedroomed accommodation, but ended up with one bed, did not feel able to question the staff member who came across as a little surley at first, but appeared more approachable after a while. No wifi, rooms not made up during the stay, no table tennis or badminton.
Pros: Absolutely stunning property. Fantastic hosts who couldn’t do enough for us. Wish we had had more time to spend there. Will hopefully go back. The resident dog is an absolute sweetheart and character. Beautiful setting, peaceful and idyllic.
Cons: Only downside is they do not allow you to take your own dogs.
Pros: Great property with lots of land for kids to run around. Lovely pool. Very peaceful. Have a great kitchen to cook and eat alfresco on the lawn out the back. friendly host.
Cons: Not exactly clean, but we booked last minute.
