Friendly staff, adequate room for price. Clean and comfortable the TV was very poor, not all channels where working and also the movies were not working at all.
The meal in Bleriots Restaurant was not very pleasant. Overpriced and not of a high standard.
nice room, nice quiete atmosphere. Good parking.
everything was easy and relaxing, excellent choice of menu, and very comfortable.
Clean rooms. Nice facility. Good internet access. The heater didn't work in one of our rooms.
The Hotel is conveniently located and well priced. I suggest that there needs to be reserved parking for residents as the car park was full with cars of people attending a function. The Function Facility needs its own separate access rather than using a route via the Hotel Bar People attending the marquee function smaking and accessing the Hotel via the Bar!
This hotel was in an excellent position for a stay before catching a ferry. The size of the rooms was just about big enough. The bed was on the hard side. The resturant was excellent both for dinner and for breakfast. All the staff were very friendly and helpful. Booking.com described the room as a "Extravaganza Double Room". I am not sure what this was all about. It looked like a typical smallish double room to me.
The helpfulness of the staff, everyone was very polite & cheerful. Airconditioning in the rooms wouls be good, particularly as there were 2 functions in the evenings, however, the hotel has a policy of no noise after midnight & we were not disturbed
The window of the room was next to a staff entrance / kitchens. It was quite noisy at times.
Location to ferry terminalsmade, an excellent overnight stop, allowing us to be refreshed for our onward journey. Staff were very efficient. Breakfast choice to suit all tastes. A1++ hardness of pillows. Minor dislike.
location needs a lot of refurbishing: separated hot and cold water in the lavatory, very old blankets, very old carpets on the floor (which is under certain slope by the way) etc.
Apple raspberry crumble with cinnamon, nutmeg custard...mmmmm! No.
An additional socket outlet to enable the charging of my portable telephone would have been useful [I know that spare outlets exist in other rooms in the hotel - but not in 107]
your bar prices the terrible condition of the metal windows in room 303
proximity to dover castle and city centre, front desk were helpful and friendly very squeaky floors could be heard from other rooms/floors all night (it is an older hotel)
The food was good and there was a seaview from the bedroom Breakfast was not included in the price and had to be purchased extra
Lovely sea front location, so nice to hear the sea at night
Overpriced in view of the accomodation provided.
The helpfulness of the majority of the staff, the location of the hotel and the gymnasium A lady waitress with attitude spilt my glass of wine over me ,brke the glass and I was left to clean it up.She did bring me another glass of wine. She was also arguementative with other members of staff!!
Proximity to Channel ferry. Food service not very good, top window in room could not be closed to keep out traffic noise, conservatory dining room and entrance badly in need of redecorating. No manager available to speak to about dinner complaint.
Hotel very noisy. We did not sleep!
Hotel was very clean no mould in bathroom at all !!!
Friendliness & accessibility of staff. Their ability to listen and offer helpful information or suggestions. Very disappointed with one member of staff in restaurant. Approach, speech, and attitude made us felt unwanted. We were just numbers to deal with as quickly as possible. (We do understand staff pressure in busy periods but did she really wants us to come back?). My wife does not take breakfast. I do, usually full english without hot drinks. My wife only wanted a cup of tea but this unfriendly person wanted initially to charge for a full continental. This may of course be company policy, but it may be wise to teach this person that in the service world, one can apply such policies with a little tact and not just rattle off that she would have to charge the 'continental breakfast' rate for a cup of tea! We did pay for the tea by the way.
Check in staff very professinal and polite Was'nt in pressed with the mattress on the floor ,but it was only for the night
Staff were very good nothing to much trouble room clean and comfy None really
Very good reception on duty, polite, quick & offered to book our table for Dinner which we accepted, as when we arrived they were very busy 30min wait we were well pleased NOT to have the wait Smalldown side two of the main lights outside reception / car park entrance were no working. When walking back after dinner felt unsafe.
Comfortable spacious room very clean. Some noise from road.
Staff very helpful Walk to restaurant On-line booking did not give option for continental breakfast
It was warm, comfortable and well situated for the ferries. The staff were very helpful and extremely pleasant. No complaints whatsoever.
The room was clean and quiet. We were pleasantly surprised that there was no noise from the road which was only a few metres away from our room. Staff at check-in and check-out were very helpful and friendly.
The hotel is directly located at the ferries, so very good location. Altogether: Standard Budget Hotel. No specials! Be Careful: Little bit tricky shower with changing water temperatures. Don`t know how to get a constant temperature.
Staff on reception very welcoming None
Comfort and rooms and menu offered for lunch and dinners No
Friendliness of reception Awful noise of other guests
staff were friendly and helpful - room was comfortable and spacious the service in the restaurant was quite poor. They were busy but we had to wait over 40 minutes for a child's nacho starter and a further 30 minutes for a dry lukewarm burger. Not a good meal to say the least
comfortable bed pillows too soft
Very clean, staff were very helpful The family room was a double bed and 2 mattresses either side on the floor. I felt that there should have been proper beds at least.
Location and restaurant were outstanding. Staff, especially in the restaurant, were friendly and very helpful.
Comfort in the room
the rooms were too colsd and didnt get a good nite sleep as the poeple above our room kept us awake
Proximity to the ferry terminal Bedroom was very cold and couldn't get the heater to work
The owner was very welcoming and settled us in before taking our breakfast order for the following morning (I opted for the excellent cooked English breakfast, not included in the price but well worth paying a little bit extra for), as was the porridge). The castle is just a short walk away and there is an excellent pub round the corner which does a good meal (but don't worry, it's quiet). The rooms we had were spacious and comfortable, with ensuite shower and a tea tray for a morning cuppa. You can also leave your bags there on check out day and collect them later. I went with my family and we thoroughly enjoyed our stay. No complaints, it was excellent all round.
The hotel itself is very nice, good rooms Bit disappointed that the restaurant was shut otherwise a good stay, clients do need to be aware that it seems to be more or less unmanned from 9 pm ( which I consider early as I work out of hotels more than 3 days a week & most are fully functioning until the early hours, both here & in europe in my experience) offers Wi Fi apparently but we were not told about this which was irritating as I was working trying to send e-mails until well after 10 pm
Hubert House is a lovely property centrally located in Dover. We had a beautiful room with a nice large bathroom. It was nice and quiet at night. The owner/host of Hubert House was rather rude and impatient. We had traveled more than 30 hours without much sleep and did not appreciate being scolded for being 15 minutes late for a continental breakfast.
Comfortable, spacious accomadation, quiet but close enough to walk to the town centre facilites. Ease of booking in and leaving inthe morning.
,breakfast good, front door locked untill 4pm inconvenient, room very cold heating not turned on till late afternoon, television does not work very well no sound on some channels, was told couldnt do anything,?could not recommend
Very freindly, quiet area, got a good nights kip Nothing
my wife and have stayed at this hotel before and we were pleased to say that it was as good as ever
Good single rooms which are difficult to come by. Hotel was in a good position and central Nothing
The room was excelent, very tastefully decorated the breakfast consisted of only coffee toast and marmalade, no OJ or choice of bread or jams
friendly, helpfull and the facilities were excelant
Friendly, welcoming staff -
Hotel was easy to find, plenty of parking, facilities were good, and the staff were outstanding. Breakfast provision the following morning was good, items were cooked to order rather than being left out for self- service. The hotel is superbly situated for both Dover and Folkestone. Noise is easily transmitted from upper to lower rooms if the people in the upper rooms are inconsiderate.
Close to ferry port
was not to much nose from the outside
Quiet and comfort
Easy access from main road.Plenty of parking. Excellent food at Beefeater next door. None
Everything good Breakfast - can't make a decent cup of tea with water from a flask - it's got to boil!
that it was 5 mins from where we needed to be and although in amain road it was very quiet. our tea and coffee tray was not replenished after our first night but after reporting this we were given everthing we needed. Very helpful staff.
Pleasant staff Enjoyable meal in The Plough Minimal provision - no telephone, no biscuits, no complimentary bath/ shower stuff, minimal coffee / tea stuff. Nowhere to sit - family room booked for single occupancy (only offer made), well in advance, all beds made up.
The beds !!! and the pillows !!!
location and the way the staff wanted you to be happy it was all good
Friendly staff - good breakfast. Room clean and comfortable enough. Decor from the 1970s. The whole place looked a bit tired. Felt like it should be called a guest house or a B&B rather than a hotel
Staff were helpful and the room was clean and tidy and roomey
Friendliness of staff and parking. Full breakfast not served before 8:00 on Sunday. (We had the 08:15 boat to catch).
Great breakfast and good location
The owner Tassos and his wife Andrula were excellent hosts with a great sense of humor coupled with great service. I would stay at this hotel again if for nothing else to practice my Greek.
The hosts were friendly, helpful and informative. The rooms were clean and well decorated. The breakfast was small but satisfactory.
Staff were very friendly and helpful and breakfast was great Only thing was that the decor & linen was a little dated
the rooms were very spacious and comfortable.staff very attentive excellant all round
Family room was a good size and very light and airy. Good location. Proprietors were very friendly and obliging Car park is a little tricky to access but once in your car is safe
The hotel is really nice unfortunately we had to leave early and they wouldn't make us a breakfast at 5 in the morning for us so that was a little disappointing but very nice people and nice big room it was nice because we had 4 of us to a room and the floor offered another bathroom from all of us so we were able to all get out quickly in the morning!
Laz and Des the proprieters were very friendly. we had a super room and the breakfast was excellent. The guest house was also very well situated for the ferry. We will certainly use the Norman again whenever we are in Dover.
Hotel extremely clean an welcoming. Everything was spotless and nothing to much trouble for the owners they made you feel at home. Would not hesitate to use this guesthouse anytime Nothing bad to say
Staff were very polite and nothing was too much trouble. The food was excellent. Slightly noisy in the latter part of the evening with other people banging doors and talking loudly when we were trying to get to sleep, but nothing to serious to complain about.
Helpful staff, comfortable and nice breakfast.
excellent friendly owners, very well presented rooms
The rooms were nice and spacious and clean and the bed was comfortable. It was cold and the heating did not appear to work. The shower over the bath was not working, many of the light bulbs were not working and the sofa's were uncomfortable and there was no fresh milk in the fridge for tea/coffee which we would have expected for 100 pounds per nightl
The staff were very pleasant and helpful, the bed was comfortable and the food was great.
Friendliness and willingness to deal with shortcomings (e.g. heating) very quickly. We experienced one of the most comfortable nights sleep away from home. The bedroom was somewhat dark which could be rectified with a brighter choice of colours (ie matching pale jade ilo gold wall covering) but this did not detract from the overall comfort.
Even though not far from the city centre of Dover this hotel is located in a very calm village with great views. The restaurant is good. The bathrooms are not in line with the level of the hotel
good hotel easy access to ferry port
The staff were great, very friendly and kind. The hotel was very cozy, warm and welcoming. My husband and I stayed there for one weekend night for his birthday and we really enjoyed it. I asked the reception to arrange some birthday balloons and cake in the room before our arrival, and I should say they did one excellent job!! That was really sweet. The nature around the hotel is incredible, especially the beach which is like 10-15 minutes walk. The food was amazing, and specially the English breakfast!! This hotel was one of our best trip experiences ever.
helpful staff, excellent evening meal and good location
Breakfast choice was very poor
good location. room was ok. breakfast nice and hot. owner was quite rude when we arrived as our booking hadnt come thru, although when he went to check, it had arrived via fax. to be fair he did apologise, but it was a bit offputting at first.........Shower could do with a paint...... They must have run out of napkins and used a square of paper towel folded into 4 instead, which was a bit tacky.
Nothing at all . it was cold , the room was small .the manager was not friendly at all . I definately would not stay there again
Excellent breakfast Not able to book in until 4pm
Very helpful staff - did recommend us an excellent restaurant (la romana) and gave us a two for one ticket voucher for the castle!
Solid hotel... good location close to train station and near to downtown. Temperature of the room was not well regulated. Breakfast room not sufficient for all guests to eat together.
Four poster bed. Off road parking. Good veriety at breakfast, and accomodating a 7am start. Shower room a bit cramped
We were made very welcome and help was given with luggage and advice on where to eat and getting taxis.
Staff were friendly. Good value for money
Friendly atmosphere and helpful staff. Good location - close to city centre / station / ferry ports. Excellent breakfast.
The breakfast was good and I was happy to see they had a number of vegetarian options at the restaraunt. The staff was very freindly and helpful
After the apalling discomfort of a Travelodge, we loved the comfort, food ,and helpful staff.
Good location for cross channel ferry, Corridor into bedroom tatty, bedroom tired looking and grubby with dirty window ledges, bathroom basin had cigarette burn, shower very poor, soap dispenser did not work, marks on wallpaper, dirty paintwork, poor lighting, stayed for two nights but sheets not changed
Good location and good views of the country side. Room was nice and clean. Not a bad point as such but the shower was not very powerful so took time to wash.
Good food Restaurant and bar closed by 8pm as it was a Sunday
Food excellent Rooms old and tired, bathroom dirty
The food was excellent
A good spot to get a quiet nights sleep before heading to the ferry, only 15 minutes away. Good restaurant and friendly staff. Bathroom was a bit shabby arround the edges.
Car park quiet room None
The only main selling point to this hotel was it's close location to Dover Ferry Port The bed was extremely uncomfortable, the bedding strange and a little damp, the pillows flat, we hardly slept at all.
Central location for train station. Was assisted with luggage up steep /narrow stair.Breakfast good value(£5) Single bedroom very small,as was en-suite.No floor space to open suitcase, had to use the bed. Access to rooms is very limiting, not before 4pm,and departure by 10am.May not suit some customers.
the owner was very friendly and helpful. an excellent breakfast for only £5 also catered for my vegetarian daughter. very easy to find from the ferry terminal. tea and coffee provided in the room which we rarely get when staying over in france. shower pressure poor so couldn't get a shower not too much of a problem as we were on our ay home. mattresses are ready for renewing getting a bit lumpy
The hotel was very central, an easy walk into the centre to shops restaurants, post office etc. Near ferry port. Rooms were quiet and comfortable, staff friendly
Peace & quiet. Friendly welcoming attitude. Would recommend to others.
The staff was very friendly,
The owner was very kind and ready to help you for every necessity. Also the breakfast was delicious
I only stayed one night and caught an early morning ferry. I have stayed at the hotel before staff friendly and always clean. Handy for the ferry port and restaurants.
Price and convenience Very tiny room and shower room
Good breakfast, clean and comfotable, served the purpose well.
St Albans was warm, comfortable, and nice and clean. convenient for town centre and Dover ferry port, also oposite railway station, quiet too. Good job there was an alarm clock!!. Was up early but heating was on. Only on street parking available but it is in a terrace.
Our cruise ship arrived a day earlier than I had planned. A phone call to Theodora at St. Albans-she was kind enough to find lodging for 5 of us in another hotel because she was booked for that night. Theodora was a gracious host and we really enjoyed staying at her hotel.
Room are pretty small. Bed is small. And the face basin is even worse location: opposite to Priory train station, Dover
The room was clean and comfortable, if a little on the small side. It was ok for me but would have been somewhat cramped for two people. The breakfast was excellent.
Was cross road from train station. Also easy to walk to castle (if no walking problems) and town centre a few mins away. Was unable to store luggage on the day of departure. Which was the main reason why picked the place.
Proximity to town centre. The shower room was tiny and the carpet was not hoovered. There were also uncomfortable protective sheets on the bed.
It was clean. The owner was very pleasant and helpful The room was small and the stairs were very steep for older people and people carrying a suitcase. The towels and were worn and frayed.
