The room was beautiful (Cumberland) and spacious. The common areas: restaurant, library, bar/lounge and parlor were beautiful and never crowded. The staff was very friendly. The food was good and the wine list reasonably priced. Really enjoyed just sitting in the lounge sipping wine, was a real highlight of the trip! Would definitely recommend this hotel. When we arrived our room was very cold and it required two space heaters to warm it up, which took several hours. This unfortunately ruined some of the aesthetics of the room. The restaurant recommendations were not great, we were directed to a chain Italian, when there was an excellent small local place nearby.
The location next to the Minster was fantastic. The freestanding bath and four poster bed was lovely Parking not brilliant
I do not think apparent from the web site but the Hotel do offer parking permits at a nearby car park In the room, ground floor, the extractor fan/air conditioning in the ajoining room, kitchen I think, was noisy until witched off. It was switched on again around 6am.
The room was amazing, very clean, comfortable bed and relevent to the era that it was built in. The staff were very friendly and provided an excellent service. The booking I made with the website did not register with the hotel meaning they did not know of us staying, although the hotel gave me an upgrade as a result of this fault.
All staff pleasant and helpful
Room was very quiet, staff friendly & helpful and breakfast was superb look forward to going back.
Friendly staff, excelent location for shopping and close to entertainment. Theatre's Museums etc. The bedroom was well furnished and comfortable. Nothing
The hotel's location is perfect, with views of York Minster. The rooms have been tastefully refurbished and the bar, though small, was charming. The menu excellent and varied. I could find no fault with the hotel or its staff. I will definitely stay again when next I am in York.
Willing staff & comfortable bed. Located very close to busy main road. Car park crowded at night. Poor water pressure in shower.
The rooms are in an old stable block adjacent to a local pub, set back from a fairly busy road. Ours was a double, smallish but with a great double sized shower. Decoration was lovely, bed comfortable and the location suited our needs for a family get together. Breakfast set you up for the day and served in the pub. Fresh juice, cereal, toast and any combination you desired from traditional cooked breakfast. We enjoyed our stay. Only down side was the walls of the stable block were that thick we had to step outside to send/receive text. The wi-fi was equally unstable but that did not distract us from the overall pleasure of staying in a friendly small establishment.
The hotel staff were very friendly and attentive, nothing seemed too much trouble. The rooms were clean and comfortable and the breakfast was excellent.
Pleasant and friendly staff, comfortable bed and clean room. Tasty food (evening bar snacks) and very decent breakfast - all in all very good value for money. The room was quite cramped, and cold when we arrived - sooned warmed up once we cranked up radiators.
Good room, good bed, adequate bathroom Noisey untill about 11 pm outside room which was onto carpark
It was clean, tidy, well equiped and met all of of our needs. Breakfast was good and there was plenty on offer. There was some road noise and other guest were not considerate, talking outside the room door at 7.00AM!
