Excellent shower Some decoration needed around one window
Welcoming Staff who were helpful and attentive. Secure off street parking. Pleasant Bar with good atmosphere. Menu was of a good standard at sensible prices. There was considerable noise in the room from the fridge and bathroom vent. I am however a light sleeper.
Check in staff very efficient Breakfasts cooked and left for at least 2 hours unable to eat wine on wine list not available
everything was brilliant. The food particularly was fab. Eugene the Chef is a genius. Anna on reception could not have been more helpful.
The hotel is well designed and aesthetically attractive. The room was clean, well lit, and well furnished (although the mattress could have been a little better). The staff were polite and hard working. The shower was very nice. The breakfast options were good. Despite booking online, the room reservation wasn't sent to the hotel and we only secured a room because someone else didn't show. This was a system error, but the desk person/bar tender was very accommodating and apologetic. The building was built in something like the 17th century, so while it's nice, the windows betray its age in both soundproofing (not a big issue in this weather) and weatherproofing (a bigger issue). The heaters were more than sufficient to heat the room to tolerable levels (though drawing out all humidity at the same time), but the bathroom remained a refrigerator. The rate we paid - £150/night - is, in my opinion ridiculously overpriced, even though this was the least expensive hotel available within a reasonable driving distance. I've stayed in less expensive places in Switzerland that gave a much better value for the money. It astonishes me that hotels can get away with charging this, especially for a single night.
Lovely to be so close to the centre. With a party and prepaid afternoon tea and dinner. Afternoon tea was urns of tea and coffee and prewrapped biscuits. Not 4 star rather like a poor B&B offering! TV screen really dirty and dusty. No soap dish. Half used shampoo. Not even a post card in the drawer. All quite shabby for the price asked and not like any 4 star hotel you would find elsewhere in Europe.
The Hotel was central to everything we wanted to see. Staff were very helpful. Food - excellent with good choice including dietary requirements. I have some mobility problems and a room was arranged for us near to lift which was great.
Central to the town so lovely to be able to walk in quickly. The hotel is spacious- reception is well laid out. Cleaning staff knocking on the room door at 9.a.m, particularly on Saturday morning when you are not checking out that day.. but also on Sunday..
The warmth of the hotel (bitterly cold outside during our stay) and the lovely breakfasts. In fact, we liked eveything. There was nothing we disliked.
clean rooms fresh and friendly staff yes the window did not open, it was screwed shut and when asked for a fan ( as my wife is 7 months pregnant) we did not get one.
It is in a really great location.
room was overlooking the river
The Hotel was clean & tidy, rooms were a good standard. Staff very helpful, its a Holiday Inn. The Beds do take some getting use to, the pillows soft or hard are not good. Paying £10 for wifi - 1st hour is expensive. The hotel can have an issue at breakfast if everyone decends at 7.30 / 8am as they can run out of food and the tables can be full and not cleaned !!!, I waited over 10 min and when i eventually got my breakfast I sat down at a table that had not been cleaned away, full of cups and plates, throughout my breakfast nothing on my table or around me was cleaned or moved !!...other than that its a Holiday Inn and getting better
Close by the town and easy to walk to the main venues of the city. had a power outage which was not their fault but when that happened the lifts in morning did not work, so staying on 3rd floor was a bit of a hike with all bags if you have a wife/Girlfriend
Location very convenient. Quality very good and very well maintained. Is it necessary to charge customers for car parking if they are paying guests?
it was right in the heart of Stratford and there were good parking facilities. All staff were very friendly the bathroom was a bit shabby
Very comfortable with modern and historic feel to different parts of hotel. Very cosy by open fire in traditional surroundings. Food well cooked and presented but menu rather limited particularly from day to day. No real problems but lack of drawer space in bedroom and shelf space in bathroom.
Very good for sight seeing, Theatre, shopping, every thing is close to hand with in walking distance.
Location of the hotel and the facilities Room faced noisy road and church with a clock that tolled every hour
the position of the hotel needed decorating
The room was delightfully unusual with oak beams. The hotel itself was very pleasant and ideally located. I also liked the RAF and Navy display in the lobby. Breakfast, although adequate, did not quite match the rest of my very good experience at this hotel.
The room was a little tired and in need of redecoration.
the convenience of the hotel to the town and theatre, and also the pleasantness of the staff. although the tv was receiving digital stations, very few apart from the five main ones were available. Specifically BBC4.
It was near to the theatre The room was of a poor standard with filthy net curtains. We had mould in the bathroom and wrinkles in the carpet. We had stayed at better B&B's in Stratford. This was a birthday treat for me and I was severely disappointed.
Great room, excellent staff, great location for the town and surrounding area. Thought the en suite could have been cleaner.
friendly staff, very good location.
The location was perfect for visiting Stratford as only a short walk over the river into the town centre. The staff were extremely friendly and the hotel had a very relaxed atmosphere. The room was very clean and had everythiong we needed inclusing an iron and board already in the room. Our stay wasn't long enough! Could have done with an explanation at check in on how the plug in the sink worked as we thought our was broken!
Good location, room was well furnished and clean, an empty fridge was very useful. Didn't suffer from banging doors and creaking floorboards. Excellent car park location and easy access to the hotel from the car park that didn't appear to be locked - so no mammoth treks to have a late night cigarette. No internet, the broadband connection in my room didn't work so I had to pay £40 to use WiFi when it is free at most hotels in the area. When I got the WiFi it was a poor connection and didn't work at all for most of one night. Room key card was erratic at best - it took me around five swipes on average to get into my room.
extremely close to the RST theatre, no more than 5m walk; very quiet, free parking, great breakfast and very comfortable bedroom. waiting staff on the restaurant could be increased in numbers - or efficiency - waiting 15 minutes for the waiter to take my breakfast order, while the restaurant is half full is the only negative item to point out - the breakfast itself was fantastic.
quiet, calm location
We only stayed one night, but it was comfortable, clean, very convenient short walk to the Theater, not far from the rail station, walkable to the sights. People were friendly, and room service breakfast was right on time, so we could catch our train to London.
no dining facilities
central free carpark
This is a good hotel and is very conveniently situated for the town and for walks along the river. We have stayed here many times and it is our first choice for a hotel in Stratford. The cost of breakfast if you just want tea and toast. Not enough parking.
convenient and clean
the breakfastroom and quality of breakfast No lift and long walking distances
Comfortable hotel with character right in centre of town. Ideal for visiting historical houses and close to lots of restaurants.
We really enjoyed the ambiance of the hotel. The decor and furniture have been chosen for ultimate comfort and cosiness and have achieved a "home from home" feeling and yet still offer luxury. Nothing springs to mind.
Very convenient for the theatres and with on-site parking (which can be a problem in Stratford) this is a comfortable and characterful hotel which is good for a short stay. The staff are pleasant and intend to be helpful; but things can go amiss. For example a room service request was overlooked and a dinner reservation got lost between the front desk and the restaurant.
The friendliness of the staff. The fact we were able to book in slightly earlier than 2pm having travelled all the way from Scotland. The hum of the air conditioning unit outside our bedroom window.
The hotel is clean and suits the character of Stratford upon Avon. The log fires are lovely! The hotel were not helpful with the problems we experienced during our stay. The breakfast was poor quality, badly served and the staff were not helpful.
wonderful, excellent for a romantic evening- four poster bed well worth it, central to stratford
The location was superb. The junior suite was well worth the extra with a separate lounge area. Having real log fires burning made it feel warm and cozy. Plenty of places to sit and enjoy a hot drink near the fire. The hotel building is old and whilst the rooms are very clean and well decorated the plumbing is old with low water pressure and about 15 minutes before very hot water reaches you. All part of the old world charm I guess.
Great location for accessing attractions. Liked the ambiance of the hotel. Staff were obliging. Room was cramped (bathroom was not).Poorly equiped-tv did not work. No clock/radio. No pen. Most importantly- no space to put clothing- We had to live out of our suitcase.
Location, Food, Character Building. Being charged for car parking.
I liked the "character" of the hotel and that it had air-conditioning. The room and bath was large, the bed very comfortable, and the hotel is in a great location.
Location (very central), friendly and helpful staff, character. WiFi was very accessable Room was a bit worn. No mention was made before arrival (eg at time of booking) of £10 per night charge for use of the carpark.
The location of the hotel was good. It will suit those who don't like modern and prefer the olde worlde feel. The Bar/Lounge was interesting with some historic features and 2 open fires - although they weren't lit when we were there. Our room was right at the back of the hotel and quite a walk from reception. In fact the walk itself was interesting as you had to pass through several doors passing some scary looking pictures on the wall. The room itself was an anti-climax - small and overlooking a car park at the back of the hotel. It was also in a more recent addition to the hotel and therefore had no old features. Looking at the plan of the hotel on the fire exit map it looked like we had one of the smallest rooms in the hotel. Should have paid the extra tenner for a superior double! I'd recommend the hotel if the room was better.
This is very good example of a tourist friendly hotel for its location of Stratford upon Avon. Lots of features embrace its acknowledgement of Shakespeare's town. Very cosy and the room was comfortable and warm. The location did put it on the nightime path of homeward bound party-people and the street noise of these people did filter into the room well into the early hours.
The hotel was excellent. Dead Centre for everything. My husband and I we slept like logs. We where in room 42. If I stayed again ( and I definately would ) I would request that room again. Thanks Only down point. I absolutly love banoffee pie and it wasn't the best. Think the chef needs a little more practice. Also my friends had a little trouble sleeping as the bar down the street Oscars was very loud. I think this would put a lot of people off.
Great location, friendly staff
only stayed one night but was very clean and staff very helpful. Good city centre location Charge for car parking over the top when paying this price for a room
We were very pleased with our choice as we just booked over the internet, your hotel was very comfortable, the breakfasts delicious and the staff exemplery. As I booked on line I requested a ground floor room as I have just recently had 2 knee replacement operations, I was a bit disappointed I had to struggle up apprx 20 stairs to room 10 I wish I had been told before arrival that our room was on the first floor. Apart from that I thoroughly enjoyed my stay and would book again next year.
Location very good for theatre, river walks and shopping. Staff very nice. Rooms need refurb. Heating problems need sorting (didn't like being cold).
Friendly staff, excellent price, accommodation and location Only comment would be that when the bar closed in the evening there was only a night porter on duty who not only had to man the desk but also attend customers wanting drinks, which seemed too much for one person!
Beautiful hotel, efficient staff. Fairly poor shower in the bathroom.
Bed was extremely comfortable, staff on front desk were friendly, except the lady who checked us out. the breakfast service was a little slow.
Excellent facilities for a weekend break - car parking especially appreciated No
Breakfast was very good. Hotel was quiet and had a good night's sleep. Efficient room service. Felt like a well-run establishment. Helpful staff. Location near the centre of Stratford - good parking so could just walk from then on. Logistics all worked for our theatre trip. Room was bland, dark and a bit dated - sort of up market rep.factory. Decor of public rooms was a bit depressing - fake gothic. Again dated. Not an inviting lounge area at all.
The bedrooms were of a nice design, the breakfast was very good, there was plenty of free parking. Had trouble with getting sky news on tv
Nice large rooms, good service, good food.
near to town centre. friendly staff
The breakfasts have been going there for a number of years and felt that the hotel under this management had lost the personel touch in service
Breakfast was very poor
Just a clean and lovely well run hotel No
the hotel was very clean. staff were helpfull.and it was within waking distance of the town centre. the food was exalent
everything really, room was very well equiped (we had an executive room) and very clean and the food was gorgeous. I'm affraid my only complaint was the mattress, it wes far far to soft for my liking, it didn't look old or in poor condition or anything it was just too soft for me, it felt like i was sleeping on a banana, but i didn't complain to the hotel as i don't supose they keep spare mattresses!!! I just slept on the sofa bed which was i bit more firm.
Excellent breakfast with a lot of choice and good quality. Location was perfect for our visit. Car parking was difficult, but adequate considering the location. Checkout was very slow.
The location was very good. We could not be allocated a non-smoking room as requested. The advertsied parking facilities were inadequate thus costin an additional £15.00 for the overnight stay.
Close enough to the town centre without the need to drive Our room was above the bar which was noisey on the saturday night
The location Check-in staff rather vague & not particularly welcoming
Staff were very helpful
Staff extremely helpful, rooms very nice and comfortable. Excellent for the town and theatres. Excellent location and facilities
Local to attractions
the position to the town centre
Easy location, comfortable room
The Arden Hotel is dedicated to making your stay special. I truly enjoyed my stay and would recommend it to anyone.
staff brilliant, room spotless upgraded to suite but the bathroom faced reception with ordinary glass in window had netting over but at night with the light on you could see in so felt uncomfortable having shower or bath
Excellent. Recent renovation makes for very smart, luxurious hotel. Staff were wonderful, very helpful. Restaurant also very good. Opposite RSC so location perfect. Worth a return visit.
Excellent staff, who really went out of their way to help. Nice coffee, shampoo etc. Little bit soulless like a barrats show-room- but nice.
Beautiful duel aspect room. Perfect location. Lots of nice little touches. No air conditioning
A wonderful relaxing place for a weekend break
Gorgeous room, amazing lush bathroom with bath and shower - brilliant location and really welcoming staff - a really luxury hotel. We weren't very impressed by the breakfast, it was a bit over-the-top pretentious meal when actually it would have been better just to have a good standard english breakfast, also it felt quite unrelaxed and a bit forced/overly posh.
Location Quality of food Sevice Some lack of availability of menu
The restauraunt was good for evening meals and breakfast and the service was very good.
nothing very cold hotel, too quiet, not very friendly, old torn carpets in corridors, price of food and drinks hidious
Excellent breakfast incl. in price
Extremely comfortable, clean accommodation; breakfast and dinner excellent in terms of choice, presentation, service etc etc Bit noisy as our room was in close proximity to the function room - pleased the disco did not go on any later into the night!
Staff were very helpful. Corridors were shabby and full of creaky floorboards. Windows in room were badly fitting and worn. All doors locked at around 11pm apart from the main door and one other, which was annoying.
Very comfortable bed. Staff were very helpful and upgraded us when we objected to our original room.I also left a ring behind which the staff located and returned to me very promptly. Initially claimed they had no booking for us,eventually resolved after the intervention of Booking.com but wasted time we wanted to wander around Stratford.Initial room could not be accessed as lock didn't work-then shown a room overlooking the car park which had cars a few inches from the window.Upgraded room had obviously not been checked very carefully as there were dead lightbulbs next to the bed, insufficient towels in the bathroom, and the previous occupants comments form still on the desk. We were also offered a discount for the dining room which was only applied when I queried the bill on check out.
The staff were extremely friendly and efficient. The dining staff were very well trained. The buffet breakfast was excellent Nothing came to mind
The relaxed comfortable atmosphere
The staff were very helpful The room was a bit dated - windows didnt quite fit and heating was difficult to regulate
In the heart of the Cotswolds. An old hotel which has been sympathetically refurbished. Excellent food-good value.
The staff were lovely, welcoming and professional.
Good food and a pleasant atmosphere. Poor mattress, lumpy due to springs.
Very individual ,great furnishing without being too busy it was lovely and clean with plenty of room
Apart from the amazing food & great ambience in restaurant I loved the attention to detail of the furnishings- the lighting and tasteful decor was just perfect. We stayed in a downstairs cottage room which was lovely but noisy from the upstairs room. Also there was just a small sort of communal area outside of the bar where you could sit (I think) but it wasn't too inviting or at least no one was sitting there....
Excellent location in the the Cotswolds. Clean, tidy rooms with white sheets on lofty down comforter. Bathrooms were clean and modern. Breakfast was excellent. Dinner in the the restaurant was fantastic...very gourmet and excellent value. Service was impeccable. Very friendly staff. Welcoming and accommodating. Took the time to orient us to the region and even gave us a hand-drawn map. Excellent value for money. Our room in the front of the building (on the Square) did get some noise from the street. Not bad but if you're sensitive, you might request a garden-facing room. Also, the room was a bit dark and closet had no light.
The food was excellent and staff very professional Lack of attention in restaurant throughout evening meal Room only had hand held shower
Very comfortable and beautifully decorated rooms. Staff were friendly and thoughtful and the breakfasts were great. Nothing. Very impressed with everything regarding the hotel.
Room was great, and very clean. Food good, would stay again.. More lighting needed in car park
Roomy and reasonably quiet. Room was rather warm at night. Parking was a minor problem.
A very nice place to stay, ideally located for access to town and surrounding area. rooms were tidy, well maintained and tastfully decorated. Owners very friendly without being intrusive. only one comment. pillows were too soft!
Fantastic location, nice clean rooms, welcoming, town centre is walking distance. Truly a five star stay and yes the breakfast was excellent! Highly recommended and will come back.
excellent facility with lots of quality furnishings. very close to the town centre and the pub in shottery village! the proprietors were friendly and welcoming. the bedroom doors need to have locks.
A lovely warm welcome when we arrived and an equally nice room. We enjoyed our night here and felt very much at home. The place is very well done up with well maintained gardens.
church Farm Barns is to me the ideal place to spend time exploring Stratford and the surrounding area.
cleaniness and friendly staff no windows in restaurant, a pity given the location of the hotel
location, friendly staff, clean stylish hotel.quick checkout. swimming pool area too dark, steam room not working, changing rooms dated.
LOCATION AND SURROUNDINGS. LOVELY SETTING. CLEAN, CONTEMPORY ROOMS.
Very friendly staff both on reception and in the restaurant. I expected more in terms 'wow' from a four star hotel. The decor is dated and could benefit from an uplift.
modern, clean room. Good food. Two choices of wine being 'unavailable'.
swimming pool It was more suited for business people.
Lovely, friendly helpful staff, lovely breakfast and plenty of it.
It was excellent value for money, the staff were very helpful and the food was very good. For a four star hotel the cleanliness of our room was not up to the standard I expected. For example the room was not hoovered during the course of the three night stay or if it was it was not done satisfactorily as various items were on the carpet throughout our stay
The breakfast was good with plenty of choice. I had disabled bathroom facilities which were excellent for my needs and spotlessly clean. The room was very dark as trees prevented much sunlight coming through the window.
The staff were very nice, always helpful and cheerful too. The food in the restaurant was excellent and reasonably priced. There were no minibar or air conditioning in the room. The drinks in the main bar was not serve with a bowl of nibble nor were you able to purchase it if you wanted to.
It was very clean and modern, very welcoming, a joy to stay there. Wanted to stay a further night but you were booked up. Very good deal for the price we paid. will def come back again. The staff were very helpful and found us alternate accomodation for the extra night we wanted to stay. Although it was three miles away from the town centre this did not cause us any problems as it was such a lovely place visit.
Location, very clean and pleasent hotel, would recommend to anyone to stay, for business and pleasure
Good value and convenient for work in nearby village next day My only quibble is that I like to sleep with a bedroom window open, but did not because my room was on the ground floor.
service and location
excellent value for money with no compromise to comfort.
We had great service from them they are all helpful and cheerful. Had good breakfast as well.
Great location with extensive well kept grounds
Facilities in the room were very good, and it was certainly value for money Would have liked a take away service for food, as a solo traveller did not want to eat alone also earlier breakfast would have been useful.
Friendly staff, basic but comfortable room, lovely rural setting, nice cooked breakfast buffet included
scenery rooms were quite dated with stains on carpet and walls ,
Great place,fab breakfast.
dinner, breakfast, location bedroom
the staff were wonderful very attentive 5 star There were no tea or coffee facilities in the room
a tad hoity toity, but a whole lot of nice and friendly. excellent breakfast. but plates burned hand. minor blister next day. wait staff warned plates were hot, but one tends to unconsciously touch plate during meal. facility would be sued in a more litigious society. no AC. Fan available, but only upon request. nice pool, and friendly pleasant attendant.
Very nice pool and leisure facilities. Cosy reception rooms with log fires, good breakfast
Brasserie restruarant poor - refer to sheet left with the management at the reception on departure. For this reason we cancelled the second night in the restaurant and found somewhere else very local with far better quality food.
The hotel is situated in a beautiful village and is quite unique. I was there for a friends wedding and the hotel made every effort to ensure it was a wonderful day for both the couple and there guests. It was a memorable experience.
The ambience and setting of the hotel is excellent,as is the history surrounding the it.The position is excellent. The service was extremely slow in the restaurant and we waited over half an hour to place our food order. The restaurant itself was very cold, so much so that one of our party had to fetch a jumper from his room. The cold also stopped us from ordering dessert. Our friends also requested an additional heater for their room.Overall we felt that the experience was not up to the standard expected from such a hotel.
staff care, overall ambience Have stayed before and loved it though was slightly less pleased this time - building work at hotel was well managed and not very disruptive though spoiled things somewhat - beakfast nowhere near as fabulous as last time, restaurant moved so little ambience - unavoidable with building works but would have preferred to be told about this in advance. Room very ordinary but, again, building works constrained availability.
The wonderful historical environment and building. We had some problems with service at meal times; long waits for table in the restaurant: we were booked in at 20.30 but were not seated until 22.00.
An excellent 'olde worlde' hotel which suits the lovely village of Broadway and is in a firstclass position for tours of the Cotswolds.Friendly staff although the language barrier sometimes got in the way, the Spanish do not understand marmalade! Excellent facilties. Our stay was spoiled by the fact that the heating went off soon after our arrival and was not restored until the early hours of the morning helping to ruin the evening in the hotel especially as this was an annual re-union of eight people, in their seventies who look forward to this occassion
