Sea view. Helpful staff. Carpet under bed dirty
The room was very comfortable, clean and warm. With plenty of tea and coffee. The fact that the room service menu was very limted.
The view and the facilities were excellent. We particularly enjoyed the wonderful Corby 3000 series trouser press. Nice big comfortable bed too, ideal for relaxing after a hard day of trouser pressing. I felt that the l Corby 3000 series trouser press was a little dated. Perhaps a 5000 series would be more appropriate with it's digital timer and superb black oak veneer.
The restaurant and bar area were nice. Staff were helpful and friendly. The bed sheets were clean and crisp and the room was a good size. The room wasn't cleaned and ready for us when we arrived, however we were quickly moved to another room. We paid extra for a sea view but the windows were very dirty and there was a designated smoking area just outside our window, so rather than smelling the sea air, we just smelled cigarette smoke all night if we had the window open. The rooms are dated and a bit shabby and would benefit from a refurbishment, especially the bathroom where the grout around the bath was black. In general, the rooms didn't feel very clean and I think the hotel is too expensive at £95 per night - I have stayed in much nicer spa hotels for that price. The hotel has a general dated and downtrodden feel.
Good sized bedrooms and bathroom.Convenient location for our needs. Good food and service at breakfast. Obliging staff. Not a complaint but parking facilities could be a problem. However we managed to park
could do with updating ! although pretty clean the rooms look dirty !
Everything was excellent. Room clean large and comfortable and staff could not have been more helpful.
Seaview, bus station in front of hotel Quality of breakfast (continental) not very good, staff rushing around Very old furniture in room
efficient polite service no
Position in Hove Breakfast room staff surly
Breakfast ! Small rooms, uneven floors in bedrooms, lack of car parking and very poor bathroom facilities.
The hotel was very clean and friendly and the rooms were small but comfortable. We were very impressed with the evening meal in the hotel.
The food was very good - we stayed for b and b and dinner and all staff were very friendly and helpful. bed was rather lumpy.
Parking is hit & miss
I was impressed that the owner?/manager of the hotel made personal contact with his guests Lack of adequate car parking - but the hotel can do nothing about that
room clean and tidy small portion on full breakfast
Clean and a nice sized bath Shower temperature varied and got very hot
The staff are helpful and the room was very comfortable. The bathroom was very small.
The proximity of where I needed to be and the breakfast. The bar prices were quite reasonable. The rooms were very small and dated. The mattress was uncomfortable. It was a big step down out of the bath. One of the receptionists was quite unfriendly.
The room was good, so was the breakfast although a little costly The coffee was not that good at breakfast
It's located in front of the sea. The building is quite old. And I was disappointed with the tastes of food in the restaurant.
on arrival the memeber of staff on the front desk was very friendly and very helpful. Parking, although not free was right outside the hotel. The room smelt of smoke and the smoke alarm had been covered with a plastic bag, this didnt fill me with confidence when arriving in my room. A second room was provided after talking with the staff on the front desk ( manager seemed to be too busy ) although i wasnt given an apology for what i felt was a fairly dangerous think to overlook when checking the room before i checked in.
reception staff and clearing of the room information at the booking about net is very bad and the price to se wireless is to expencive
The hotel was in a good location and was very clean, The bed was not the best, found this very cheap and uncomfortable. ALso I wish it wasn't so dark
The stuff was very helpful and tried its best there was a lot of noise at night, the hotel is far from the center of Brighton...
The staff were very helpful at all times. Bit noisy on the corridors
Cheap price, nice and kind personal need to change shower, not so comfortable. Noisy floors
Location, value, friendly staff Limited parking
Comfortable room and staff helpful, nice TV in bar which was turned on when we requested.
Very courteous and friendly nature of the staff. Ambience. Room was very cosy, like being in a private house! Slightly dark, dated decor in the hallways and room.
cleanliness of the room poor reception on the tv
Friendly staff and comfortable clean and spacious room. No hot water for morning of check out despite waiting an hour. Staff apologised but offered no other compensation. Unacceptable for a hotel.
If you are looking for a comfortable, clean and reasonably priced hotel with competent and friendly staff then this is recommended. Just dont expect the Ritz!!
the hotel staff were curtious at all times the room was of a very high standard
The staff we're efficient and friendly. The room was shabby, unattractive and badly furnished and the beds were poor quality with insufficient bedding. The bathroom was tiny and uncomfortable with mould in the shower. The whole hotel was run-down and in need of new decoration, with peeling paintwork and cheap furnishings. This would be (barely) acceptable as a low-end budget hotel but for £90 without breakfast, it was scandalous. We would never use or recommend this hotel again and were extremely disappointed with the booking.com service.
comparitively easy to park in street with hotel permit excellent breakfast
Lovely large room with big windows. The public areas were very inviting and comfortable. I really liked the old fashioned dining room with it's polished wooden floor and fabulous ceiling, and tables with starch White tablecloths... The staff were friendly and helpful, I will go back. The decor of our room was a bit tired and in need of redecoration, and the widows on the outside could have done with a clean, however the room and en-suite was clean.
location and the fact that the room was ready on arrival at 11am The misleading info about the parking which states parking permits £4.50, instead of £4.50 per day, which was not explained by reception and led to us getting a ticket
nice rooms and food
Our room was spotlessly clean with a brand-new modern shower room . Although in an older wing of the building , our room was tastefully refurnished with modern facilities e.g. flat-screen TV .
Close to family near by Breakfast was disappointing very cold ,I did tell the staff serving it, did not make any difference, the toast was'nt much better, myself and another guest mentioned it together.
Only there for one night but every thing was very good.
The staff were great and they seemed very cheerful which is not usually the case in hotels. The decor in the restaurant was a bit fake looking.
The food was good the rooms decor left much to be desired, there was no bath in the premier room which was too small had to downgrade to get a room with a bath. Corridor to that room was shabby, too many stairs everywhere for semi disabled status asd my husband is awaiting a knee operation. Please see above
pleasant staff and comfortable room hotel needs a larger lounge for drinks
Teh room and en suite facilities
The provision of desk and chairs in my room to enable me to work unhindered I felt that the cost of the continental breakfast was too much @ £8.99 when the full English breakfast which included the continental part was £9.99.
Nothing was too much trouble for the staff. Very clean and penty of choice in the restaurant.
Convenient location for visiting local college. Noisy room due to water/gas pipes near room
Light, well furnished comfortable room with sea views to the side, balcony and windows that opened.
Beach Front Location / Friendly Staff. Having to pay £2.50 every day to park outside in the street /Only Itailan food on the menu / No restaurant [closed] having to eat in the Bar.
The staff were very friendly, helpful and polite. The room was clean and comfortable with nice decor. the bathroom was very strange. You had to go up stairs to get to the main part of the bathroom but the ceiling didn't get any higher. As my boyfriend is 6'4" he had to stoop whenever he went to the bathroom and even I at only 5'6" couldn't stand in the shower. In this respect I'm pleased we only stayed one night in the hotel as it wasn't very nice. Also the noise from the nightclub was excessive - it kept me awake for an hour or so, perhaps better sound proofing would be good. However, it was a very nice hotel and I would stay there again if I was staying in the area.
We were upgraded to Honeymoon suite - which was lovely after 48 years of marriage!!!!
receptionist looked after our check-in needs well. (Early departure next day, so great care to ensure we had a quiet room.) very basic furnishings - not representative of a four star (this explains the following two answers)
Excellent position with a very good bar facing the sea. The Italian menu in the was very good and the food was excellent.
The staff was absolutely wonderful - very friendly and helpful, and not homophobic! My partner and I felt very welcome, and we have already recommended it to both gay and straight friends.
Very attentive and professional people within the team operating the Burlington Hotel not applicable
Clean, comfortable, bar open till late. Minor quibbles. They got the bill wrong. They charged my account after one night even though I was staying for two. Also they might turn the disco music down a tad lower in the bar than on the dance floor. Can't hear what anyone says!
The relaxed atmosphere, friendly staff and cosy rooms. The bed was not great; the mattress was not new I think and the springs were far too noticable..
comfortable room and quiet hotel Major part of the restaurant menu was not available Carvery was disappointing
Easily located ... ample parking ... efficient reception and room allocation / check-out ... crisp and clean laundry ... good bedroom size - clean and tidy ... courteous and helpful service staff ... 'value for money' carvery ... quiet, uninterrupted nights sleep. 'Tired' and damaged decor throughout, badly in need of a make-over ... TV inoperable (lack of remote controls and freeview box power lead) despite managers assistance.
Good value food however some more attention could be paid to the cleanliness (which was not bad, just not perfect). Difficult to find reception on arrival (in the restaurant not the hotel entrance).
Quiet pleasant surroundings, hotel and staff. In Room 3, no paper tissues and TV could only find one channel
The building is good, the rooms were a fair size and the water pressure was good. The service was poor other than a couple of the young women who were trying hard in poor circumstances. No toilet roll or soap in the room, net curtains had insect frass on them, wallpaper torn, furniture creaky, bed big enough but the mattress was incredibly uncomfortable. No pillow cases on the spare pillows and no spare blankets. The bar area was not clean and was plagued with fruit flies in November. The floors were not clean, the glasses were not polished, litter was left where it lay. The windows in the dining room were filthy. The decor was tired, though that could have been forgiven if everything else had been up together. The breakfast was poor, no choice other than full english or variations of and no brown sauce.
Quiet and relaxed atmosphere
Good view, picturesque and all that Breakfast doesn't start until 07:45, not much use for the business traveller
This is a wonderful hotel, great rooms and great service. The staff are exceptionally pleasant and some of the nicest and genuinely friendly hotel I have found (in the world!)The rooms are spacious and clean. The location is wonderful, especially for watching the lunar eclipse! All round 10/10! Leaving too soon!
The carvery Late breakfast on Saturday morning
the staff were very helpful when we needed to find a restuarant. na
The location was most probably the best feature of the Hotel. Good central position and was easy for my meetings around the Worthing area. The room was not 100% clean, Karaoke was on until 11.30pm on a Monday evening when we had to rise at 6am - not ideal and especially when the staff didnt tell us!!! Parking was difficult and had to park down a dimly light alley way, again not ideal.
The breakfast and the bar and the price for drinks The toilet in room 8 was not flushing
Staff are very friendly Hotel is very old
staff were friendly - you got what you paid for. Great location for Brighton and surrounding areas Music was a tad loud although we were pre-warned about it before hand. They had live music from 7pm-11pm and then night club noise until about 2am!
The entertainment went on for too long into the early hours for room that weren't sound proofed
Good location for Beach House Park Bowling Greens Clean comfortable rooms No information for use of television sets
The Victorian decor in the bar and the hotel Serious lack of light bulbs in the room. Poor service at breakfast including very weak and undrinkable coffee
Huge bed! Bathroom needs updating, no BBC on TV
rooms are poor
Friendly staff Musty hallway
served a good breakfast and receptionist was very helpfull. Right on the sea front and close to town. Room was damp and needed decorated. The windows are poorly fitting and the wind kept us awake the whole of one night despite trying to jamb something in the handle to keep the window closed. The shower is hopeless and barely gives a trickle of water. There was hair in the plug hole. The bed does not have a quilt/duvet but only has a very worn blanket.
sea view room in need of redecoration
friendliness of staff and other residents the shower
Value for money Very hot in the corridors
Location and friendliness of staff. Hotel very tired, room and bed very old and to a poor standard. very limited food (do not eat there!), room very expensive for what it was.
Came for a short break, Great Location, room and food was very nice. Breakfast good value. Staff very helpfull and friendly
The location The bathroom, the restaurant food & service
friendly staff, car park.good bar prices for area price of breakfast,so didn't have it
the staff (ESp Michael and Maria) were outstanding Only that despite what seemed a reasonable tarriff we actually had to pay over £500 for two nights (3 people) so pretty expensive for a rather tired hotel. However staff and "atmosphere" excellent.
very friendly, great food and beds. Parking important nothing
The hotel was clean, staff were friendly, excellent breakfast.
Friendly staff and a good location Room was small and the window did not close fully.
Good and friendly service, good breakfast. small but pleasant and clean room. Mention of two parkingplaces, non avalable, parking in neighbourhood difficult, and many stairs to clime with luggage.
very quiet and comfortable, very good breakfast, very friendly
Our stay was a very comfortable, and the breakfast was excellent. The only comment I would make is that my sister was cold in her room - but fine once in bed! This, of course may be because we didn't arrive until late, perhaps after the heating had been turned off.
The staff were very friendly and welcoming. The food in the pub bar was really excellent and good value.
Customer Service was very good. Staff were helpful.
Very happy with the accommodation as a whole, absolutely ideal for what we wanted, i.e. an overnight stay. We had a funeral to go to nearby in the afternoon and did not want to drive there and back from our home in one day. The breakfast was exellent, as indeed the snack the night before in the bar. Easy to find and the car parking was good.
Food and service were very good and nice log fires / atmosphere. I think the rooms could have been more inviting - we had to move from the first room as the bathroom was dreadful and the room very small.
Spacious room and comfy beds. Excellent breakfast Everything was very good - just wish I could have had dinner at the hotel but local relatives had this organised (at home)
