The staff no
central to all facilities. helpful friendly staff. excellent food. comfortable room. car parking was a bit of a headache
Excellent all round hotel with very friendly and helpfull staff.
very freindly helpful clean and the meal we had was excelent
An excellent hotel, lovely service, very friendly and in a great location. Couldn't ask for more. Allerdale Counciol's rediculous and ludicrously expensive car parking policy. Don't they want to encourage visitors to the delightful town of Cockermouth whuich has suffered so massively because of the floods?
Nice, freindly people, excellent location in town, very clean and spacious room. Very good value for money. No bad points, recomend to all, good hotel.
comfortable , friendly and efficient
lovely room,good food,attentive staff
Room was lovely, great value for money. Food was top quality and staff were polite, friendly and attentive
Good value, friendly and helpful staff, very good restuarant with varied menu and good wine list, our room was lovely and very tastefully decorated - nice soft furnishings, great shower. Couldnt fault it.
The hotel was perfect, the hotel overall was very nicely laid out, from the bar with the open fire, to the luxurious swimming pool and steam-room to the spacious and cosy room. It was just as described, the views were stunning, the staff were lovely and very welcoming, highly recommended! My only complaint is that we didnt stay for longer! No complaints what-so-ever
Location and views were absolutely gorgeous. restaurant on site very convenient. advertised as having a spa, and booked specifically for this purpose. however no spa or swimming pool. seemed to be under construction.
Good base for central and west cumbria. Comfortable, clean and overall most convenient. Users of swimming pool, draped in towels walking through accommodation areas.
An independent and easy access to the Lakes and friendly hotel staff Not a very well stocked bar.
lovely part of the lake district with beautiful views and very friendly staff, great for family breaks
The concept of a quality apartment is a good one. Staff were pleasant and worked hard to try to make amends and rectify the faults. The quality of the establishment was not to the standard described on the website. Poor maintenance of the suite - E.G. radiator and telephone not working, some advertised furniture missing, two light bulbs not functioning, kitchen equipment missing or dirty.
The friendlyness of the staff. The warm atmosphere, the scenery. The evening meal was perfect. Compliments to the chef... It was quiet pricey. We were in the attic room without a view just a small window facing the back of the kitchen. for £120 we expected to have at least a view.. We were there for our Silver anniversary although we did not mention this to the staff.
Overall good. Sauna needs proper regular cleaning as there was strong smell of damp Sauna
swimming pool was a nice size for a small hotel. Hot tub also nice addition. Good size lounge bar with fireplace. Very cosy and friendly. Big outisde decked area with view. Very handy parking outside bedroom. cleanliness wasn't terrible but bit laid back. e.g. High chair was cleaned but arrived dirty, microwave full of bits of food from previous guest, no pillow cases. might have been short staffed during our stay maybe.
Beautiful lodge, beautiful food, beautiful part of the world! Very up- market whilst warm and welcoming. Excellent experience!
Excellent food, very clean room.
Very helpful staff. We werev the only guests but were looked after really well. The food is excellent. Nothing. A real gem.
Plenty of food. Cheerful owner. Not as clean as we would like. Had to telephone to gain access.
Friendly welcome and good food
Excellent hospitality; immaculate, modern rooms rooms, great food. Would definately stay again.
Dirty room and en-suite. No breakfast setting. Very overpriced,. Dirty room and en suite.Toilet never cleaned. No breakfast setting. Very overpriced. TV room full of junk. Room not ready on arrival. Other guest waited 45 mins in car trying to get access.
The hotel is currently undergoing extensive refurishment but this in no way effects a guests comfort. Rooms and bathrooms are very good, warm, and welcoming. Food is fresh cooked and has a homemade quality about it. Outdoing everything else however is the hospitality and friendliness. Highly recommended. The exterior can be off putting and does not reflect the interiors very high standards.
We were made to feel very welcome and drawn into the local community immediately.
Newly refurbished room Renovation work ongoing
bath tub, new bathroom, warmness, nice staff the hot water was gone very quickly (not enough for a bath tub), kettler was broken
Mary & Joe, yes thatare there real names, made you very welcome. Relaxing atmosphere and good meals, Ideal location within 3 minutes of the A74. The building is over 300 years old and is under rennovation at present, the room I stayed in was one that had been completed and was to a good standard.
Friendly staff and clean room
The staff and locals made my stay very easy and pleasant. Nothing
It was conveniently located for our early morning appointment the following day. It was rather dated and some areas could benefit from painting and decorating.
The bed had been slept in before me and the sheets were not changed.
food and prices excellent the room i stayed in was very smelly, (damp smell)
Very helpful and friendly staff, quiet location, great food nothing was to much trouble for them they did breakfasts to suit the client which was very helpful if you had an early start all in all great value for money. nothing springs to mind
Great cooked breakfast. Walls seemed a bit thin as there was a lot of noise from nearby rooms.
Really enjoyed the food served at Wheyrigg. Friendly staff.
Pleasent on arrival and a super meal in the evening. Got up early especially for us as we had to be at a show early morning. Many thanks for a lovely stay none
Warm environment.Extremely nice owners.
I just liked my stay in Wheyrigg Hall, starting with the family running the hotel, the food, the room, the quiet area, ... It's also ideally situated for exploring northwest england and the Hadrian's Wall region!
A very impressive building. Owners were very helpful and friendly and nothing was to much trouble. I would certainly like to go back again.
The Hotel was a very pleasant country house hotel,it was quiet but staff were getting ready to host a wedding. Our room was lovely sumptuous bed.A very pleasant experience overall.
The Hotel had an open and warm feeling to it. The rooms were tidy and clean.
friendly staff and great english breakfast
Cosy hotel, great service in a nice quiet area away from the main road.
Excellent setting and friendly staff
Quality of service
the views from room and gardens were excellent we found the noise from the saturday party very lound for reidents who were staying
An old private house dating from the 1890's, the hotel stood in charming grounds with excellent views. It has been a hotel since the 1970's, and has much old world charm about it. Some of the curtains and decorations were slightly out of place in a hotel of this age and quality
Exceptional quality and service. No - all fab!
cleanliess and peaceful excellent food very friendly staff
The staff was outstanding. Lovely, and very solicitous to my 94 year old mother. Having to go outside to get to the room. This was unexpected, and meant that once we were at the room we couldn't leave my mother there and return to the wedding. The very noisy heating or plumbing system that kicked in outside our room periodically. I would recommend this hotel, but not this particular room.
Very friendly service, bedroom with lot of space, luxury bathroom
The staff were very pleasant and made our stay enjoyable. The room we had was part of the annexe and was extremely well presented. The hotel was well placed for sightseeing and walkiing.the food was excellent and well priced. The lounge area was a bit dated....looked as if it needed a freshen up. It would have been nice to have had some biscuits to go along with the team and coffee making facilities in the room. The price of the breakfast was not included. Maybe the hotel should re-think this policy?
the situationin the hills and the general ambiance no
Found the Hotel to be first class, staff attentive, breakfast excellent. Room was everything it was advertised to be. View from bedroom was stunning.
The room was large , plesant and relaxing . However, i was on business and only needed the room to sleep in. The room only had only 5 channels on the TV. Although not a great TV watcher even the most basic hotels have an ability to get news 24 hours per day. There was no hot water on the second morning. Breakfast was not served until 07.30 which was not ideal for those on business.
Staff were very friendly and helpful, excellent service, value for money. The rooms could have been more up to date/ modern, i.e. bigger television, appliances e.t.c.
food was excellent and good value for money
myself and my partner and friends stayed at your hotel it was excellent, the hotel, rooms meals were out of this world and the staffing excellent we would recommend your hotel to people a really enjoyable stay. the only thing we would like to say that there was no reception area as such but apart from that a excellent hotel.
Staff were very friendly and accommodating and full menu with good choice and nightly changing specials. Restaurant service was slow - serving bar customers seemed to take priority.
Small is beautiful. Courteous and efficient service with attentive staff. Very good location for me.
Very Friendly Hotel ,Staff very Helpful ,Will be booking again Soon
Good price, friendly, spacious room, strong wifi signal, water pressure good in the shower, breakfast was tasty. Fire doors slamming over and over at night; double bed mattress was knackered and uncomfortable; room was quite hot (there had been a heat wave, so it's not quite fair to blame the hotel! But ideally they would've aired the room out ahead of our arrival); we weren't so keen on the dog wandering round the tables at breakfast, but then we're not really dog people.
Friends and welcoming
Conveinient and close to motorway but not too close! First class food at a very reasonable cost. None
Owner/manager provided excellent service, going out of his way to provide us with some late lunch when the chef had left. Room was comfortable and clean. My mother having to pay for single supplement when the room only had a single bed anyway. The hotel's address is advertised as Bankfoot, Lockerbie but as we are overseas tourists we couldnt find it and had to contact hotel where we were told it is actually in Ecclefechan. Very confusing.
The service from the Manager, Nigel, was excellent and he was very friendly. I would recommend this hotel to couples, but not singles if all single rooms are the same as I had. The food was very good. Very disappointed with the size of the room for the price. Only enough space for the single bed. No wardrobe and rail for hanging clothes too high for me to reach. Ensuite very small, in fact it is the smallest ensuite I have ever seen. In my opinion should not have a single supplement charge for this room. Had trouble finding hotel as address states Bankfoot Lockerbie but is located in Ecclefechan.
Convenient location - warm welcome
all the staff made us really welcome. they were all very friendly and couldn't do enough for us.
I was pleasently surprised with the size of my room Nothing
Friendly staff Cheapest bathroom tissue on the market
It was only a 1 night stay but service, location ,food in restaurant all good
No room fans available. Lift out of order for duration of stay.
It was close to motorway access and the location was ideal for us as we were visiting relatives and friends in Cockermouth, Workington and Maryport.
Convenient location, great size rooms and good breakfast Took the room charge off my credit card even though the site says it doesn't and I didn't authorise this.
the local towns did not deliver my paper as ordered and two weeks earlier did not deliver my brothers paper bit of a coincidence dont you think
Comfy beds. Excellent shower & towels. Helpful staff. Misleading website - suggests no pets on 1st floor but we were next to family with 3 retrievers in their room and I was woken by barking dogs; picture of familiy room we were in looks like a double bed & a single but actually 2 singles and a sofabed. Website needs to be more accurate. Also heavy smell of cooking fat as you enter the hotel is rather offputting - but the staff are good.
Friendly staff, good food, nice location, pet friendly not 24 hour reception
