Nice hotel, close to the beach I did not like the difference in price between what was written in the email from you (125€) to what I had to pay (190€)

Unfortunately the restaurant was so successful that they did not have place for 'regular' hotel guests for dinner - if no reservation was made. Ordering a cup of tea to take back to the room took 20 minutes. And even though it's called 'strand' (=beach) hotel, the access to the beach was closed after breakfast - according to the personnel to keep out the crowds that are attracted to the trendy restaurant/bar design. Even though the design of the restaurant is splendid, the rest of the hotel would get 3-stars if you ask me.

That we could have dinner at pure c, taking the apero on the terras. Breakfast in the morning in the same nice area was nice too. Pity we had to leave so early.

the new restaurant launched by Sergio Herman, the 3 stars chef of the Netherlands Rooms look the age of the hotel (30-40 years ?), although they are clean. A bit oldish, but a perfect location for those who seek silence, breathtaking views over the sea and beautiful beaches

Situation and Facilities Balcony direction achieved no sunshine and of little benefit due to outlook, over adjacent hotel and noisy playground, restricting privacy.

Do not take the cheapest rooms at the basement. We had a very good appartement at the second floor.
Beach really is in walking distance, just a couple of meters. The rooms were clean, and the breakfast buffet was good, too. The hotel supplies Billard and 4 Bowling lanes (as well as a basement Swimming pool, but we never used it). Bowling activities can be slightly heard on the floor above, but not in an annoying way. So I don't understand people on here complaining about Bowling noise... To those People: The hotel advertizes Bowling, quit complaining about something obvious and natural! This hotel obviously is no 5 Stars Deluxe Resort for certain golfplaying seniors or stuckup people but rather a good opportunity for flexible, spontaneous & active beachlovers who rather use the room for sleeping than for staying inside the whole time. The bathroom has a bad/passive ventilation, hence the smell after using it is really bad (I think that's what some people on here meant when they said "the room stinks"). Furthermore the toilet is situated in the corner of the bathroom, larger people (> 1,80m) will probably hit the toilet paper container and the shower cubicle with your elbows when sitting on the toilet. Roomsize and structure of our room can be compared to a standard Etap hotel room, but was absolutely sufficient (ausreichend) for us 2 persons! Just make sure the person you come with knows you well/loves you and won't mind your smell you might leave on the toilet! Or just bring some matches with you -> problem pragmatically solved.
Very nice hotel for a break, but don't use booking.com - it's cheaper to book with the hotel direct. I did not like the fact that the room booked through the hotel directly would have cost 88 euros, but through booking.com it cost 100!

It is an insult to real 4 stars Hotels to call this hotel a 4 star one. On top of it reception staff are extremely unpolite.And my booking was not properly handled = overbooking.Are we in the 21 st centutry or still in the Middle Ages ? Money minded people totally not worried about the feelings of their clients.NEVER Again
The breakfast was lovely. Check in was quick and easy. Lift available. Rooms were clean. Bathroom beautiful. Hotel has a nice bar and spa. The rooms were very small. We could not get the internet here, even though we asked the staff. They told us not at this time. Short changed twice in the bar.

The location at edge of city was great, and Sluis itself a charming, engaging community. Breakfast was excellent. Tho room was spacious it had pedestrian design and the twin beds were a downer. Charging for use of Wi-fi was off-putting. Price was much too high for the quality of the lodging.
Impressive exterior facade, looks like a castle rooms look a bit outdated, too much carpet everywhere...

Sluis is a lovely town, with plenty shops, restaurants and wonderful scenery. The Dikke Van Dale is the best hotel in the area. No criticisms at all

Large comfortable room and good position of the Hotel. The male receptionist was very helpful. Excellent parking facilities. On Saturday night there was a serious amount of noise from a dance band (So much we could not use the room) We raised the issue both verbally and in writing but have not had a reply after two weeks (the time they set themselves)
