10.0 Excellent
Pros: Friendly, clean and very comfortable. Jackie and Martin were perfect hosts for our overnight stay. Amenities in the large bedroom included a comfy bed, lovely en-suite, fridge with water and fresh milk for morning drinks, which I found a nice touch as I don't bother when it's UHT milk. We were given our own key to come and go. I would definitely recommend this B&B for anyone wanting accommodation in Rufford.
Cons: Nothing.

Pros: Everything, Martin and Jackie were fantastic hosts, nothing was to much trouble, accommodation was beautifully presented as was breakfast, (locally sourced produce and homemade jams). Martin was a great help with his local knowledge and booked us into a great pub for one of our evening meals. This stay was more like staying with friends than being in a B&B Would recommend to anyone and can't wait to return.

Cons: We wouldn't change a thing.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Martin and Jackie are wonderful, friendly hosts who want to do everything they can to welcome guests and make them comfortable; they are also not reluctant to leave guests to their own devices, if that's preferred. They greeted us with tea and advice as to what to see, made us a dinner reservation at the good local pub, and were generally great hosts. Breakfast was everything one could want, with delicious eggs, yoghurt, jams, bacon, etc., all sourced locally.
Cons: Nothing at all was less than excellent here.
10.0 Excellent

Cons: Nothing
5.8 Okay
Pros: The room was comfortable and clean, well-appointed and with plenty of room. There as a tea service, Ironing board and iron and hairdryer. The WifI was fragile to connect at first, resetting your appliance usually cleared the connection issues, but once connect was solid.
Cons: The restaurant food was poor, had dinner and breakfast at the hotel and it is something I would not repeat. The seating area for the buffet breakfast is easily crowded, as when I was there one bus tour was staying over and it was chaos trying to find and keep a table.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The young man on reception was delightful and appropriately funny. He was helpful and attentive. All the staff were lovely, polite and helpful. Going back to stay in September as on 2 nd half of training course.
Cons: The coffee was not the best.

Cons: Their was an offer on for two drinks for five pound on a Sunday ,but we was charged full price for some reason
5.5 Okay
Pros: The friendliness of the staff and the rural location
Cons: Leaking guttering which throughout the night, felt like we were at the side of Niagara Falls. The staff's lack of action when the issues that concerned us were raised. Although Halloween is a few months away, we felt it was a bit early for the cobwebs to be started.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Excellent breakfast and evening meal

Nice and easy walk across field path and along canal into Parbold village ( 15 minutes stroll) made this a perfect location to stay at for The Parbulele Ukulele festival which we attended over the weekend. A nice area to visit.

Pros: It was modern, clean and contemporary as you entered. The staff at checkin were friendly and efficient. Our rooms were spacious and we had a connecting room. We ate in Bennett’s restaurant wish is excellent. Food was really top notch. An excellent one night stay and would use this hotel again as the location allows us to split our journey from Scotland to London to see family. Excellent hotel.
Cons: Just one comment here. The description said extra large double bed. It wasn’t. Yet the twin beds were massive. I would probably choose a twin room instead of a double next time.

10.0 Excellent
Pros: The hotel was superb - and in an excellent location for our purpose. All the staff we met were very pleasant ,attentive and helpful, both at reception and in the restaurant Hotel dining can be one where you wish to forget the whole experience . However, all the 3 different courses that my husband and I had (6 in total)were absolutely delicious, and without fault - the mussels were to die for and were so fresh
Cons: Although we do have reasonably firm mattresses at home, we found the beds and pillows a little too firm - but this is obviously difficult for an hotel to try and please all preference

Pros: Room was very spacious with a lovely bathroom. Very clean and comfortable.
9.5 Excellent
Pros: Food was great, fab staff, great value for money
Cons: Only issue I encountered was because of the weather which heated the room and with small windows we struggled. Totally not your problem though.
6.8 Good
Pros: Clean and reasonable size rooms with good facilities
Cons: It was a a hot day and the room 5 we had was like a sauna, small opening windows with no AC or fans available- whilst except it was exceptional in terms of the weather no provision had been made for this. The room my daughters had was better but generally upstairs from the restaurant was uncomfortably hot.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Excellent parking facilities, awesome food and staff were very nice and helpful. Continental breakfast was good too.
Cons: Obtaining a drink from the bar was impossible- not enough bar staff were on to accommodate the numbers of guests during peak period. Not all rooms had a fan, we had two rooms, one had a fan and the other didn’t. As the windows were security locked they couldn’t be opened very far and therefore were very hot!

7.5 Good
Pros: Location and house were good. The shower and bathroom were clean and pleasant to use. The kitchen also was stocked for our arrival with essentials like salt and pepper which were appreciated.
Cons: The tv signal was problematic, due to the trains. It would have been good to have had more information about additional blankets etc, my colleague struggled to sleep the first couple of nights until we were told where the extra blankets were kept.
7.5 Good
Pros: I liked the location, as we have family who live in Wigan. However I expect a double bed by found all small singles. My husband is a tall, large man and found it rather small and slightly uncomfortable.
Cons: The kitchen amenities are very minimal. There are knives and forks, but no scissors or coffee caffetiera

2.5 Mediocre
Pros: Nothing
Cons: We paid upgrade to Superior refurbished room and we ended up with a filthy outdated room. Funny, odd or peculiar smell. Extremely worn, Stained n ripped carpet. Bathroom consisted of filth, stains, mold and totally hygienic, resulting in us unwilling to use the shower or bath. Furniture excessively scratched and dated. Walls marked and stained with dirt and holes. Blind damaged and unusable, letting in light all night. After telling staff, we were told this room not been updated yet and offered free breakfast despite telling them we were leaving early in the morning, prob 1.5 hours before breakfast even started, which we did. They also said the photos I had me Rhonda seeing on their and booking.com website did not represent the truth, I was told not their problem. We were stuck being that we had travelled over 5.5 hours to stay for 1 night to attend a friend's 80th birthday. We later discovered renovated rooms were available at a cheaper rate.
9.3 Excellent
Pros: clean and newly decorated friendly staff
Cons: breakfast could be improved by offering cereal and fruit
7.5 Good
Pros: Staff were lovely hotel was clean and nice They were very friendly to dogs!
Cons: The breakfast on day 1 was poor - but the second day was much better so it might have been an off day!
9.5 Excellent
Pros: The staff are so friendly the go out there way to help you we have been staying here for the last year and it’s been getting renovated although it’s still not completely finished yet this time we had a renovated room and WOW what a difference.I can only say when the hotel is fully finished it will be lovely.
7.0 Good
Pros: Staff very friendly and we were contacted immediately to inform us about a important item my grandson left behind. Thank you so much for that.
8.8 Excellent
Pros: Location was excellent. Staff and food were top quality. Great venue for a wedding and would highly recommend.
Cons: No baby changing facilities in the garden Room.
6.3 Good
Pros: Location as this was for our anniversary as our wedding reception was held here many years ago. Staff were excellent room clean and comfortable.
Cons: Meals were ok but more pub food than for an anniversary in the evening plus it was a Saturday evening and they closed the bar at 10.15pm as very quiet. Had heard the hotel had undergone refurbishment but this clearly is nowhere near finished which is why I imagine not well frequented at present
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Nice outside area for a sunny day. Drink and food prices not expensive. Local walks, and right next to golf club.
Cons: Smokers outside, no particular area set aside.
7.5 Good
Cons: Food was average at most.

10.0 Excellent
Pros: Staff great, food great. Room was amazing and so comfortable. Bathroom was great too. Everything worked as it should. Really nice coffee. We look forward to visiting again when all is complete. Building is amazing, I loved popping my head around corners and in to open rooms......
Cons: Under renovation so a few issues about but nothing to cause a major issue. Bar a little expensive I thought. Lack of signage caused an issue finding the place but I believe the hotel have this in hand so will be better for future guests.
8.3 Excellent
Pros: Beautiful building and when finished it will be stunning
Cons: Still in new stage of renovation so hard to comment. The only thing I didn’t like was the glass tables to modern and when leaning on them they flew up a bit dangerous
9.5 Excellent
Pros: simply great place to stay ! so welcoming and everything was spotless! really appreciated the whole experience! The team could not have been more helpful & friendly so relaxing - had to rush away in the end the next morning so didn't get to walk the grounds next time!!
9.5 Excellent
Pros: I loved the attention to detail in my room with the luxury bedding and furnishings. The staff were so welcoming and friendly. They were happy to accommodate to all needs from dietary to room facilities. I had a wonderful nights sleep it was quiet and cozy. The meals were delicious and really filling I personally struggled to finish them.
Cons: The property was still under going renovations upon my stay and there was a lot of furnishings scattered along the corridor. This didn’t effect my stay as I could still walk through the corridor safely and with easy I just wish I had been told about it prior to my stay.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The staff were always helpful and nothing too much trouble. Breakfast was great value and delicious. The rooms were sumputious and elegant. As it was my daughter's wedding weekend (venue elsewhere) we needed a family retreat before and after the ceremony to enjoy the occasion and recuperate from the festivities & stress afterwards. This was perfect! Thank you
Cons: The only negative was the signage for the property is non existent causing an hour's search. I understand from staff this is a problem trying to be resolved with the local council however it really needs to be sorted asap. It didn't really affect our stay but I am sure others may well be put off.

4.5 Okay
Pros: Bed was comfortable
Cons: Poor room facilities, rude staff when checking in, 24 hour bar was closed at midnight
3.8 Mediocre
Cons: Does not reflect price paid for room. Very tired decor and not terribly clean. Disappointed.
8.0 Excellent
Pros: The setting of the hotel
Cons: The draught beer not being on....got there Thursday and was told it wasn’t working Wednesday, for a big hotel why wasn’t it sorted out right away....£4.50 for a small bottle of beer which was warm absolutely scandalous for a hotel of your calibre ☹️☹️☹️Should not have to leave the hotel to go out and get a decent drink
7.0 Good
Pros: Nice location, attended for a wedding function. Food at wedding breakfast was good and prompt Food at breakfast the next morning was good but lacking in butter and side plates at cold buffet. Hot buffet was good. Rooms very clean Staff were polite and happy (however see below)
Cons: The hotel seemed very understaffed; a wedding function bar had a long queue for most of the night. Despite the hotel being full there appeared to only be 3 wait staff on for breakfast and they were overwhelmed with guests. The bedroom (312) was extremely hot despite no heating being on in the room, even with the bedroom window open all night
8.0 Excellent
Pros: Nice and quiet
Cons: Nothing
9.3 Excellent
Pros: I like where the hotel is situated, the grounds and the area. Lovely little room, cosy. Had everything we needed.
Cons: When ordering room service I was told I needed to leave my card at reception, I wish i’d Have been told this upon arrival.
8.8 Excellent
Cons: The room wasn't cleaned properly, lost of dust and coat hangers on places around the room from previous visitors. Seems like the cleaner really didn't want to do their job
5.8 Okay
Pros: Steak for dinner was unexpectedly delicious
Cons: Poor and slow bar and restaurant service, even though quiet. Ran out of eggs at breakfast meaning nearly all cooked breakfast choices were without the essential breakfast component. Unacceptable when breakfast is £18 each. Tired decor- bar chairs all had rips in arms. Filthy tables outside and in bar which hadn’t been cleared away for a long time. This attracted wasps making it unpleasant to sit outside.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Quiet and comfortable excellent breakfast Lovely staff Well kept grounds .

5.0 Okay
Pros: Not much
Cons: Smokey room upon arrival. Only enough coffee and/or tea for one cup each. The towels were too small and too old – quite raggy and thin. The room was quite shabby, the phone to call reception didn’t work, only enough shampoo and soap for one and the bath taps were broke.
6.8 Good
Pros: great location, walking distance into the centre of Wigan
Cons: Check in, we waited for 5 minutes after ringing the bell at reception for someone to attend to us to check in. I was expecting a 'sorry to keep you waiting', instead we got a mumbled 'are you waiting to check in?' - we were stood at reception with a cabin case, no prizes for guessing that's what we were there for Breakfast was very average, black pudding was rock hard and inedible
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The staff are absolutely lovely. Breakfast was great, it had everything we needed and it was super cheap if booked the night before. We stayed on THE hot night (33degrees), although the property has no aircon, we were given a huge fan by a lovely cleaning lady plus extra pillows, we slept really well. As my husband had been travelling to Wigan hospital with a broken arm sleeping well is a challenge at the best of times. The lady on reception gave us an early check-in which was really appreciated. We will be back!
Cons: The rooms on the road side could be a bit noisy for some. We bought ear plugs as we knew we would need the windows open due to the unusual weather conditions. We actually slept well, we asked for a quiet room originally but took what was there for an early check in. If its important to you ask for a quieter room.
7.0 Good

8.8 Excellent
Pros: Local to where we needed to be and the breakfast was out standing
Cons: Room lighting was a bit dark

8.0 Excellent
Pros: Staff were friendly and efficient. Great overall atmosphere. Fab location.
Cons: Ran out of milk for coffee after just one drink. No complimentary biscuits and the shampoo dispenser was empty.
6.8 Good
Pros: It was a real ale - Camra listed & discounted member beer. Don't know how beers are selected but could have been better.
Cons: GR8 for party lads or ladies stay. Not families. The place in general is pleasantly unusual with character. What was unacceptable is, after a long journey, the unavailability, at the bar, of a hot drink or snack. Bedroom had a certain colourful acceptable style. King-sized bed was magnificent but hard and therefore uncomfortable.
8.8 Excellent
Pros: Nice room, cosy bed and good location close to city centre
Cons: If food had been available in bar would have been good although nice restaurant next door
