this hotel has no frills more like a youth hostel but the fact that it is right on the lake and close to the village excellent breakfast too well make up for its simplicity. runners on the bunk beds very apinful on the feet ! and also the mirrors a bit too high for average height.( I think a very very tall Dutch person installed those!!!) It did make us laugh.
The facilities were fine, but we did run into a few difficulties. I had booked and paid for and confirmed a room with a private bath for 100 Euro. When we arrived, we were told that our room was given away and that we could either take a small cabin without the same facilities or we could find other accommodations in the nearest town, Sneek. We were told that by taking the cabin accommodations we would get a refund of 50 Euro the next morning. When we were ready to leave the next morning, no one was available to give the refund, and breakfast was not even started.
Extremely friendly staff. Excellent restaurant downstairs. Free car park available on the spot. Local youth getting extremely loud at 4 a.m. (loud music played from their car). Hot/Cold water in the shower difficult to regulate - you either get water that is too cold or too hot. No internet available at all (contrary to what's advertised on the website).
the accomodation offered to us was an old but two floors bulding (!) in a very quite and peaceful location. Excellent food and breakfast no options for bars or restaurants (only two) in walking distance
No internet in hotel.
Safe, free parking. Friendly, helpful staff. Very satisfied with the rooom that faced street. Location is very central in Gaasterland. Restaurant across the road is sometimes too noisy til late at night.
Very good food, nice clean rooms, helpful staff.
Fantastic place to stay! would recommend it to any one visiting northern Holland.
good tailored service. nice peaceful location. nice small pool with sauna.
a very relaxed pleasant atmosphere good food
Excellent food, comfortable rooms, relaxed atmosphere and very friendly staff. Enjoyed the outdoor heated pool and tennis court. The interior of the rooms is quite dated, old television, no DVD player and bit smelly sofa in our room and in the lounge.
The breakfast was very good - lots to choose from, fresh and local products, in a nice atmosphere. The room looked old-fashioned, it seemed that most of the furniture and curtains etc still were from the nineties. Furthermore, as the hotel was in the middle of nowhere, you'd expect it to be romantic (what else there is to do but stare in each others eyes?) but it was really not. In general, I think there are many hotels in the Netherlands that deliver more value for money.
Staff were friendly, professional and flexible for our strange schedule (3 year old early dinner, late arrival of cyclists) despite being busy. The food was excellent, both dinner and breakfast, and the room was spacious and comfortable, especially for the 150km cyclists. If the sun had shone, it would be a perfect location with the swimming pool, gardens, and terraces.
Friendliness, attention to detail and overall hospitality.
Very clean, comfortable, the rooms are big with very nice design, dinner is very good, the staff was very responsive and helped with all questions No free internet in the rooms
This is an excellent hotel - a bit hard to find, but a great staff, large rooms, great value for the money!
Generous room sizes--and a gloriously deep bath. Staff were friendly. We would have appreciated being told we had to book dinner well in advance--on the Saturday night the restaurant was full and we were obliged to go out to the nearest town.
Very attentive staff. Interesting history to the building. Convenient location for touring the area.
Restaurant menu was very good The bathroom and toilet were just large enough.
The private sun room with the forest view was great for relaxing. The room was large and comfortable. The restaurant was excellent (a bit pricy, but worth it). Staff was knowledgeable and helpful. The wireless internet availability was too unreliable in my room to be useful - if I wanted to check email, upload photos, use VOIP to call the US, etc. I had to go into the hallway or to the cafe/bar to use the internet, which was a bit inconvenient. (Admittedly, this problem may not exist in other rooms.) The internet option was also more expensive than I've seen in other hotels.
excellent breakfast shower area could be improved, no hairdryer available
very scenic..food is very good, clean, price was good, for the time we were there. Rooms very sparten, very few outlets, no hair dryers , tiny tv, lots of stairs,
