9.6 Excellent
Pros: The owner is really friendly and speaks good English. The location and rural setting is serene and also ideal for cyclists. (I kept my bike in their workshop shed.) The room was spotless, comfy and quiet. The restaurant and bar were a pleasant surprise. The food is excellent, both for a snack for dinner and the big choice at breakfast.
Cons: The room layout was not very functional. For example: The room was large but had only one window which meant that the lights must be on during the day. The bedside lights are very dim, so I was unable to read. The 4 chairs and 2 tables were in a row which meant I could not sit and watch TV or work at the table. The bathroom occupies too much space and the light switch us not easy to find in the dark. I discussed these and other items with the owner who said they are aware and are going to rearrange the rooms.

10.0 Excellent
Pros: Loved the owners. They were very friendly and helpful. The breakfast was delicious. Variety of fresh bread and pastries. The owners made us eggs just as we liked them. Beautiful restaurant where we were served breakfast. From our room we had a view of the pasture where the horses roamed around. The room was lovely with an outdoor patio. The owner suggested a wonderful place for dinner. 5 star experience.
Cons: Can’t think of a thing. We were very happy!
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Excellent service, extremely friendly owners.

10.0 Excellent
Pros: Really nice place with amazing ambiance and friendly hosts. I would recommend it for relaxing stay.
Cons: Wifi connectivity is little poor in the room but in the common bar area it works completely fine.
9.2 Excellent
Pros: Everything was very good, the bed very comfortable and the toilets clean!
10.0 Excellent
Pros: I can't rate B&B Quarterhouse highly enough. Beautiful bed and breakfast, in a lovely, unspoilt area which was close to Bruges and Ghent, Ypres etc., all the main areas that we wanted to visit. The accommodation was of a very high standard, very clean and extremely well maintained.
Cons: The only very slight niggle was the fact that WiFi didn't work in the room, which wouldn't have bothered me at all, except that I had some work to complete. I was able to pick it up in the courtyard outside, however, and our hosts provided me with an early morning coffee every morning, which I was very grateful for.

7.1 Good
Pros: We arrived there on Saturday afternoon by car from Belgium. It was easy to locate & we got a parking spot. We were lodging outside of the main building on a isolated area. They forgo to mention to us that main building is completely closed after 9PM and u need to access the room from outside. We walked back to our room @9:00PM after birthday dinner in restaurant near by. We were completely shocked to see main building locked. We tried to access via back entry gate near parking without success we walked on opposite side of main parking to another gate again no luck so we ended up escalating the hedge premise to get inside the lot. It was freezing cold -1 or less Celsius. Then we tried to open the bedroom door with our keycard again no success. My husband tinned to main building to see if anyone was still there and luckily the guy who was shutting down was just on his way out & he came to our rescue. Other than our lil misadventure Breakfast was excellent with glass of champagne for my hubby bday, the room is really nice, cosy & romantic. Good location near restaurants & shops. We might do it again. Just keep in mind it's not a hotel so they do not have 24h staff on the premises. In case you loose your key or something you are on your own.

Pros: Breakfast
Cons: Price £162 for one night (with Breakfast) for one large room seemed excessive
8.8 Excellent
Pros: Nice family hotel with good facilities and very friendly owners and staff. A bit old fashioned (this is not a design hotel), but this has its own charm. Rooms are large and comfortable and the bed is good. Excellent breakfast
Cons: NA
4.6 Okay
Pros: The breakfast was good. Breakfast serving starts at 9 a.m. but it could be arranged to have breakfast earlier.
Cons: The room was on the second floor and very small, it could be reached only via a steep stair. The hotel has an old fashioned style. When I booked the room I asked for synthetic blankets and only one was present. Due to an allergy against feathers this was very annoying. Overall the price / value balance was inadequate.
6.7 Good
Pros: Kind staff.
Cons: The smell of the Restaurant came into the room. It was very unpleasant. The beds were small.
8.3 Excellent
Pros: Enormously good and extensive breakfast made on request

7.5 Good
Pros: The location and the beach. The Pirate restaurant on the beach and the Italian in the town.
Cons: The hotel car park, small spaces and not laid out very well. Disappointed the pool/wellness was closed, it was not made clear on the emails that it was not open, and on booking it does not mention a pool, so our mistake, but as returning visitors we don't look at the hotel has, presuming it still has it them. This is due to the expansion of the hotel, which is opening at the end of the year or 2019, but should be made clearer to visitors before hand. View from the balcony was also disappointing, room on ground floor so just see long grass, we choose a deluxe room, but for me it was just a standard type room in say a Marriott, nothing up market or delux about it, that includes the uncomfortable bath, which is supposed to be a jacuzzi bath but just blows small air bubbles around. The room was far to hot, needed to leave the balcony door open to sleep, but then all the bugs come in, I hope in the expansion they have a least fly screens but more importantly air conditioning. It was a disappointing stay in some ways, but, as the saying goes, you should never go back to a good time cause you will be disappointed. I hope after the expansion, they can get back to the previous level of quality, but currently, for me, it is not a four star hotel, just a three star with excessive prices.

10.0 Excellent
Pros: Breakfast was amazing. Location was perfect
Cons: Layout of bathroom was odd
5.4 Okay
Pros: Location of the Hotel.
Cons: 1. Very noisy due to construction workings. 2. The room has the charm of a bunker. All is grey in grey. The floor is a kind of concrete. The painting of the walls are of poor quality. The room is not comfy at all. There is no door between the room and the bathroom. 3. The hotel is not pet friendly.
9.2 Excellent
Pros: Superb location in a small and relaxed town. Hotel brand new, and finished to a very high standard. Spotlessly clean, well laid out and designed and excellent staff. Room light, airy and comfortable with a marvellous view. Everything in the room was of good quality and well maintained. Breakfast was absolutely marvellous, and the coffee excellent. Secure inside parking under the building, whilst it is charged per day, it is worth it.
Cons: I loved the room, but the bathroom layout was rather strange, being an integral part of the room with the toilet separated by a frosted glass door, open at the top and bottom. It may be " modern" but at the expense of considerable privacy. Solid door please !
7.9 Good
Pros: Location
Cons: 1. The coffee machine in the room was not very efficient and practical. 2. There was no facility to make tea - in some other hotels, often at least the coffe machine allows you to get some hot water to make tea. It would have been nice to provide a kettle and some tea bags. Not everyone drinks only coffee! 3. It was very unsatisfactory that there was no outdoor sitting area where we can drink or read! Before the renovation, the breakfast restaurant had excess to the outdoor area where we can take breakfast there or read, looking out the sea. (Cf. Noordzee Hotel and Spa has a nice outdoor space adjacent to their restaurant. 4. MOST OF ALL, there was no decent restaurant for lunch or dinner on the premise other than Pure-C, which is very difficult to get a reservation and also very expensive. Blueness was not always conducive for a quiet meal. It would've been nice to have a reataurant in the hotel reasonably priced with reasonable menu (Cf. again, Noordzee Hotel and Spa's restaurant is a great example!) for occasions people don't feel like going out for a meal!

Pros: Top

8.3 Excellent
Pros: Spacious room, great location, excellent food, dogs allowed
Cons: Room's infrastructure is dated (uneven floors, unstable sink, clunky shower screen..). Room on the ground floor also has some privacy issues if you don't close the heavy drapes/window: guests on terrace can hear you and view inside the room.
5.0 Okay
Pros: Friendly staff and cosy place
Cons: for that price I’d expect to have a private bathroom or at least toilet.

Pros: Room was excellent, lots of space! Service was good Restaurant was excellent. W
Cons: That the bathroom was wet after using the shower. No lighting above the bathroom sink
9.6 Excellent
Pros: The host was very polite and professional, always ready to answer any questions. The restaurant had the best food of all the restaurants we tried during our four-day stay there. The beds were very comfortable and the bath was epic! Being city people we were not used to the silence and slept very well. When we left the host even dropped us off at the border of Belgium and the Netherlands which saved us a bus ride of 30min. We definitely recommend the Stadsherberg for a stay!
Cons: Make sure you rent bikes to get around, the beach is approximately a 45 min walk otherwise. It wasn't a big problem, but having a bike is essential! There's a bike shop down the road for €7.50 a bike for one day.
6.3 Good
Pros: Lovely bar, amazing host, great irish coffee... quiet and friendly place to stay if you have a dog and very welcoming. We just wanted a bit more for our money... our first spur of moment stay over in 4 years so i guess anywhere less than perfect would have had a bit of disappointment attached
Cons: Marble floors were too cold... duvet was a single each on a double bed... the bony bacon and eggs were only warm...
8.3 Excellent
Pros: Friendly reception, clean and large rooms good breakfast
Cons: As much as the cafe entrance has charm and character the hotel is nice but cold atmosphere

9.2 Excellent
Pros: calm and nice, a lot of animals- great for kids
Cons: one bed was not comfortable
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Excellent and perfect place for family , kids and home animals.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Beautiful place. Staff was great and really understanding regarding the check in delay.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Absolutely brilliant place to stay with small kids. Apartments very comfortable, clean, super equipped kitchen with dishwasher. 2 comfy bedrooms and a bathroom upstairs. The site itself is a very nice and cosy farm - each apartment has a terrace looking onto the yard with chickens and rabbits. A few steps further there is an impressive children's playground with lots of toys. Cats and chickens run freely around. There is also a large terrace where you can sit down and enjoy a drink. A very cute Sluis town is nearby, as well as wonderful beaches.
Cons: The bed in the master bedroom is waaaaayyy too soft and squishy - I didn't realize such soft mattresses even existed. But this is a very minor and insignificant detail in overall picture. Just heads up for someone with back issues.
9.2 Excellent
Pros: Lot of animals very close by. The cats are all over the place and very friendly with the visitors. The "katten terras" is a really nice outside seating area (additional to the appartements' own terrasjes), very cosy and with a trampoline hidden in a corner, which the kids enjoyed for hours.
Cons: The only minus we could find was a consequence of the "farm holiday" feeling : the rooster made his very audible statements from 6:30 in the morning.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Crea-Trends is friendly, relaxing, calm, animal-friendly, very close to Sluis and the coast, has beautiful apartments and a very comfortable bed. All was tip top and we had such a relaxing weekend with long walks by the beach and nice lunches and dinners in Sluis. Would love to return here during springtime!

Overview Reviews
Located in Sluis, Fletcher Hotel-Restaurant De Dikke Van Dale is within a 10-minute drive of Hoeke Windmill and Knokke Casino. Featured amenities include a 24-hour front desk, multilingual staff, and luggage storage. Free self parking is available onsite.
8.3 Excellent
Pros: On-site parking with underground parking free. Classical building with interesting rooms. Good old-fashioned bath! Easy walk into town.
Cons: No in-room toiletries. Wi-Fi intermittent.
7.5 Good
Pros: The breakfast was not as good as in previous years or indeed in the other Fletcher hotels we stayed in this trip. On 1 day there was no bacon - plenty of eggs. the next day - no eggs but plenty of bacon. Also the downstairs bar was clkosed on both nights.
Cons: My only possible concern was the breakfast and the bar beoing closed. Otherwise, I enjoyed my stay and will return.
5.0 Okay
Pros: Localisation. Bike rental
Cons: Too expensive hôtel! Not adaptesld for a 4-star hotel Room without soundproofing Hôtel and rooms very old: old carpet (mite allergy !!!!!! Awful) Smell of semer Bathroom: old and not clean Breakfast: old breakfast room, very dark, products really cheap.
7.5 Good
Pros: The staff were excellent and very attentive. The parking was great and the outside of the hotel looked very good. Location was excellent.
Cons: Breakfast not very good, the toaster did not work and on the last day the room was in darkness so it was hard to see the food. The rooms were very tired and need a renovation.
6.7 Good
Pros: The staff was very friendly and helpful.
Cons: The rooms have no AC, the corridor has. Rooms were extremely warm; too warm to sleep decently. Several guests had the room of the door open to the cooled corridor in order to have a minimum of cooled air in the room. The carpet on the floor was loose. The furniture in the breakfast room was damaged, worn-out. Two out of our four nights, the breakfast room was in a very dark room, unpleasant atmosphere.
7.1 Good
Pros: The staff were extremely friendly and helpful, there just weren't enough of them to cope. We had an excellent dinner on our first night, plus good breakfasts, BEFORE THE CHEF QUIT! The location is wonderful, we love Sluis, and this is the ONLY reason we have stayed at this hotel three times.
Cons: They have a SERIOUS staffing problem and in fact 20 staff walked out on our last day, presumably because they were so overworked trying to cope. The rooms are disappointingly below standard, air con only in the corridors, and in real need of redecoration (wallpaper peeling off in some rooms). The bathroom towels are ridiculously scimpy and worn out. No effort at all has been made to improve the hotel since our last stay 5 years ago.
2.9 Mediocre
Pros: Nothing
Cons: The room cost €244 disgraceful. The price was going up by the hr. on arrival a leaflet was supplied which recommended this room at €79. There were no coffee/tea nor mini bar facilities, the bar closed at 10:30pm & was closed all day and evening on Sunday incl. the restaurant. The view was the car park. Breakfast was disgraceful and they would not fry me two eggs. I booked a double bed and got two singles. The bed throw was dirty. They said they would look into a price amendment and the next day I discovered they charged me €243 from 7pm to 11am the next day. The worst hotel I have ever stayed in and I stay in many per year. I will never book a Fletcher hotel ever again. Extremely disappointed customer. 2 weeks earlier I stayed in the Resort La Reserve in Knokke-Heist "4/5 Star" for only €56 more.
7.0 Good
Pros: Bed exceptionally comfortable. Good parking facility. Reception desk staff very friendly and helpful. Breakfast excellent.
Cons: Bar closed . Ash tray on balcony table not cleaned.
7.1 Good
Pros: The location was great,
Cons: reception staff not friendly, we were left waiting 15 minutes to check out at a unattended desk
