It was NOT a chalet type image at all--very noisy, gloomy. Bed was hard as nails, and even though the brochure said it was a QUEEN sized bed , two people were very squished in it. When my thoughts were expressed to management, she showed sympathy but could do nothing. There was NEVER a response from management after a letter was sent. Their idea of a free breakfast was bacon and eggs, and cold toast in chafing dishes
On a scale of 1-10, I would give this place a 3--why? Upon arrival, we were unable to find the exact building, so we stopped and asked the shuttle driver there for help and his response basically was 'I am busy, I don't have time to help you'-luckily we found the place shortly thereafter. Checking in was fine, staff was friendly--entering the room, a whole different story--they mentioned that all the rooms have queen size beds in them--well, I guess the queen wasn't a very big person, because for two people, it seemed more like a full size, IF THAT! Finding a place to eat was alright, it just took a litle time to master the map reading, and it was only 8 pm when we were looking to eat. Returning back to hotel to sleep--OMG!! between all the children, PLUS the fact that I could hear the neighbors running water and flushing their toilets, it felt like Archiie Bunker's living room--needless to say, we did NOT stay our 2 nights--drove to Aspen to look around and then returned a day earlier-the girl at the desk was SOMEWHAT helpful and showed a little concern, but she really couldn't do much. THIS IS NOT A PLACE FOR A COUPLE TO GET AWAY FOR A QUIET WEEKEND. Definitely more family/children oriented--didn't really dig their version of 'free' breakfast either--you had one selection, plus a plastic container of fruit loops and a few other amenities--again, families YES--couples retreat NO! NO!! NO!
Rooms were a bit dated. Room was clean, bed cmfortable, decent shower. Good bargain at this location for the money.
Travel online gave this place a 3 star rating, I would be reluctant to give it 2. If it was given a 1 or 2, I probably would not give it a bad review, but I expect a little more from a 3. I have stayed at many 2 stars much better than this. Complaints: Cheap beds, could feel springs in your back. Dark, dingy rooms with brick walls. Despite the brick walls, sound from your neighbors traveled extremely well, unfortunately. You had to park a couple blocks away if you do not want to pay 10 dollars to park in the Chalets parking garage. Just being honest here, motel 8s are better than this place. Pros: the staff was friendly and the lobby is nice. If they just took the effort in the rooms as they did the lobby, it may be a nice place to stay. If you are going to stay here, do not expect a 3 star rating. In winter a pro would be you are right next to the lifts, in summer, that really doesnt matter so much.
The Mountain Chalet is the comfortable, cozy place you want to be for a ski vacation. Its ski-in/ski-out convenience, as well as its proximity to restaurants and shopping, can't be beat. The staff is always helpful and accommodating.
Wonderful but small room at an EXCELLENT price: exceptionally friendly and helpful staff. Might not be great for those wanting quiet due to the large number of active sports enthusiasts, but the rooms were spotlessly clean, everything in great repair and wonderfully friendly staff.
