Cons: Parking was hard late at night. Lower parking lot was a little scary. Soda/water machine were out and you had to go to the front office for drinks. Wish there had been room for 2 Queen beds.
Pros: Location in Del Mar is fantastic
Cons: No, everything was fine
Pros: Good bed, quiet room, excellent location.
Cons: Ants. Ants IN THE BED, ants on the floor, ants the bed stand, ants in the bathroom. Call an exterminator and I'll give it 8 out of 10.
Pros: It is a very easy location for exploring San Diego since it is near the 5. There are views of the ocean and a 5 block walk to beaches and downtown Del Mar. The actual neighborhood has a bit of construction. Rooms have been partially updated (bathrooms).
Cons: bedding was a bit older. Parking lot wasn't well organized.
Pros: The location is very peaceful, quiet, and relaxing. Staff is very friendly and helpful. Room was clean, had a refrigerator in the room and a coffee maker which was great. Nice comfortable room. We enjoyed our stay.
Cons: I would recommend upgrading the bedding. The carpeting also looked worn.
Pros: Hotel room appeared to be recently remodeled and was spacious.
Cons: On the map the hotel appears to be only a couple of blocks from the beach put the closest beach access is at least a half mile away.
Pros: The location was wonderful and rooms were clean and inviting.
Cons: Pool supposed to close at 9pm but at 10:15 there were still people in the Jacuzzi and being loud. I turned on the 'loud' A/C which drowned them out. A lot of yelling in the halls at night on the last night of our stay. The first night was super quiet.
Pros: Nice location, good deals at the cafe. The beach was kid friendly .
Cons: A bit of a walk to the beach, but there's lots to see along the way.
Pros: Very quiet; an excellent room with a walk out to the pool and bistro through the sliding glass door. So convenient and so old school quaint, that I will have to go back. Not a 4 star, but a very nice place to stay in the middle of Del Mar with a quiet
Cons: I missed all the little kids running around.... NOT!!! Nothing about this hotel that I did not like.

Cons: I thought the service was a little lacking. They were understaffed and weren't able to bring toiletry items to the room.
Pros: How quiet it was. It was peaceful.
Pros: Its location, comfortable bed, very clean and updated room with lots of wood. Felt more like a cottage experience (not size, of course) rather than a sterile hotel room.
Cons: The cost of the room. No breakfast included. They also were not able to provide an extra chair for my room.
Pros: Friendly bartender
Cons: Rooms were outdated, but fine. Shower ceiling had signs of mold.
Pros: We absolutely loved Del Mar. we stayed two nights at the Indigo. The location is great. Walking distance to shopping, food, and the beach. The room was very clean. The bed was ver comfortable. The hotel was quiet and in a very safe area.
Cons: The only thing remotely below what was expected would be the staff. They were not very friendly. Everyone else we met in town were great.
Pros: This city is one of the best on the west coast. The location of the hotel is great. It is close to shopping, food, and gas. The hotel was clean and located in a quiet area within walking distance to the beach.
Pros: Location and free parking
Pros: location. Staff
Cons: All was very good except the Air Conditioning unit was exceptionally loud. tough to sleep
Pros: Location and the quiteness of the hotel; great staff Enjoyed having a restaurant on the premises
Cons: I wished the king room we stayed in had a ceiling fan and we could of opened the windows for some fresh air (room 201) instead of running the air conditioner windows were sealed and could not open.
Pros: The staff were very friendly.
Cons: I was under the impression we could walk to the beach. It was advertised as being a block away. There was railroad crossing and cliff to the beach! Then told it was a 15 minute walk to beach. Was 10 block drive! Room old/smelled. Breakfast $30 a day!
Pros: Room was spacious and clean
Cons: Average rooms, loud, difficult to navigate, awful onsite restaurant.
At the Hotel Indigo® San Diego Del Mar hotel our décor and imagery of all things seafaring—and horseracing—capture the culture of our neighborhood. At what other pet-friendly hotel can you ascend a stairway where each step shares the colorful name of a famous thoroughbred that trod our local track? Our day spa offers massages wraps mani-pedis and marine-based facial therapies that heal restore and balance the skin. The Ocean View Bar & Grill serves up seaside views alongside great dishes with bread from a local bakery and beer from area favorite Stone Brewery. And while our two outdoor swimming pools are the perfect spot for a quiet afternoon we’re also close to the beautiful beach.
Cons: Very noisy because with multiple events with loud music.
Pros: Georgeous, tranquil spot that makes you feel like you are truly on vacation.
Cons: I wish the check-in time had been earlier and the check-out time had been later. There's not a whole lot you can take advantage of (pool, spa, gym, tennis, bike rides, bars, etc) between the hours of 4pm and 11am if you are only staying one night.
Pros: Very nice hotel in an ideal location. You can park your car and forget about it (or not bring one). The beach is across the street and the village (Old Del Mar) has everything you need for a long weekend stay.
Cons: The lobby and rooms are nice but the property overall feels like it could use a freshening - it's a bit dated. Small quibble though because this really is a terrific place to stay. I'll be back for sure.

The resort is located on the historic site of the Stratford Inn, which eventually became the original Hotel Del Mar - a favorite hot spot for Hollywood film stars. Del Mar is also nationally known for its racetrack and fairgrounds.
Pros: The location and proximity to La Jolla and Del Mar and the ocean and stunning views and access to 5 highway
Cons: Unlike most other Residents Inn we had to repeatedly ask about coffee and when we asked about the multiple holds on our credit card for "incidentals " we were told it was a system function and they couldn't exactly explain it The pool is so small as to be useless

Pros: Charming hotel a short walk from the beach. Very friendly and helpful staff.
Cons: Parking is a bit tight. Drive a smaller vehicle if you can.
Pros: It is about 3 blocks from beach. Deck has ocean views and is great place to have your own happy hour - bring your goodies as rooms have a refrigerator. While not on the beach it is in the small town and there are lots of places to eat in walking distance.
The hotel is scheduled to undergo renovation later this year.
Cons: While room is large, bathroom does not have a private door. Internet is advertised as free and shows up in your room but does not work there and staff did not fix it, so you have to go to lobby. It calls itself a bed and breakfast, but don't expect much other than a continental.
Cardiff by the Sea Lodge features a rooftop terrace and puts you within a 15-minute drive of Carlsbad Premium Outlets. Guests can enjoy the spa tub, and hiking/biking trails and surfing/boogie boarding are nearby. There's a garden, and rooms offer refrigerators and free WiFi.
The bathroom was a little weird, but different. The whole atmosphere was a calm and relaxing feel. It really was an amazing place to stay. Although for the size it's a bit pricey. We were expecting a bit bigger room.
Pros: The staff was very helpful and attentive, the rooms were very cute and unique and comfortable. Great for a romantic get away. All around a great place to vacation and we will be returning.
Cons: The room we stayed in was right behind a kitchen, so for a couple hours there was kinda banging and stuff.
Pros: Everything, ambiance, size, location. Very special
Cons: Yes, It took longer to get hot water in the faucet & shower than what we would have expected.
Overall we had a wonderful stay and would stay again.
Pros: The decor, the location, the view from the balcony, breakfast from the cafe.
Cons: The room is a bit small but it is certainly comfortable. The bathroom set up is not ideal.
At Secret Garden Inn, you'll be within a 15-minute drive of University of California-San Diego. Guests looking for a bite to eat can check out Cafe Secret, which serves Peruvian cuisine and is open for lunch and dinner. Rooms at this Colonial inn offer room service and free WiFi.
Pros: We loved the location as our east coast friends were visiting and rented a home right down the street, a bit closer to the ocean. That being said, we were only in our room a short time each day. We woke up, hung out with them, then came back to sleep. Comfortable beds and I was really happy to find the room had air conditioning! A heat wave in October in Del Mar, unheard of...til now!! Coffee available in the a.m. and a nice shared patio to relax and drink it.
Cons: Our room was pretty cramped but I appreciated the kingsize bed! Once we put our suitcases on the only chair in the room and the bench against the wall, there was no where to sit. Again, it worked for us since we weren't in the room very much. Also, it's very nice that there are so many sitting areas to choose from outside of the guest rooms. With great ambience as well...artwork, garden fountain, plants.
Cons: THE STAFF WERE THE MOST UNPROFESSIONAL I HAVE EVER ENCOUNTERED. I WAS ASSAULTED BY A STAFF MEMBER BEFORE I EVER CHECKED IN WHICH I FORTUNATELY RECORDED ON MY PHONE. POLICE HAD TO BE CALLED. I LEFT THIS HOTEL AND HAD TO CUT MY VISIT SHORT BECAUSE OF THIS EXPERIENCE. IT IS THE STRANGEST AND MOST DANGEROUS PLACE I HAVE EVER BOOKED TO STAY. I WOULD NOT - LET ME REPEAT - I WOULD NOT STAY AT THIS ESTABLISHMENT AT ANY TIME.
Pros: privately owned
seating in open patio areas
distant view of ocean
short walk to Del Mar shops and restaurants
Cons: no direct beach access due to railraod tracks and bluff
8 to 10 block walk to city/state beach
only coffee for breakfast
At Les Artistes Inn, you'll be within a 15-minute drive of University of California-San Diego. Freebies like WiFi and self parking are added perks, and guests looking to stay active can check out the nearby scuba diving.
Cons: Wish it was closer to beach, but can't really change that for the price. Good price value for location.
Pros: Exceptional Customer Service at all hours of the day, very helpful and honest. Great location.
Cons: Room Key cards to access hotel, room and parking are not reliable and become easily deactivated.
Pros: Loved the Pool and staff
Cons: THe traffic was Insane! Because of the county fair so getting in and out was a pain in the as$
Pros: Waitress by the pool (Lilly) was nice, the outdoor seating was nice, and the valet people were helpful.
Cons: Paid for pool view couldn't see the pool!! Shower curtain stunk like horrible mold. (Hard to even shower with the stench). Asked for late checkout they said 12:30 was the latest and then offered my Brother in law a 1pm checkout.

Cons: All of the pillows have a chemical smell to them which causes an allergic reaction to my eyes, nose and throat with burning sensation as well as runny nose and very dry, itchy throat. Also footsteps could be heard from the upper floor all evening and early in the morning. The building structures are either old or thin ceiling that I could even heard opening and closing of the dresser drawers and shower door. Very annoying!
I called out to the front desk that same evening and talked to a male receptionist about the situations and was told that nothing could be done. I mentioned it again to a female receptionist while checking out the next morning and she said she saw the note of my complaint from the previous night and will pass it on to the Manager and that I will receive a follow up phone call. It has been a week and no one has called me. So much for customer service...
Pros: The main draw was that it was pet-friendly, so we were able to bring our dogs. Not only that, but there was no extra charge!
The hotel was super clean, had a pool and jacuzzi, and hot breakfast in the morning. Very impressed! The biscuits and gravy FTW!!
Pros: The location is great. Close to the beaches and the boutique shops. The breakfast was well supplied and the staff was OK. But try Air B&B for better value. After this we found several nice places at 1/3 the cost and much better breakfasts.
Cons: Doors, shower, lights and heating were broken. Then there was a fire alarm that kept going off at midnight. The fire department showed up and checked things out but it was obvious that the alarm had issues. But the staff blamed it on pranks from kids. No Way!! That was crap. This place needs to be repaired.

Pros: Excellent customer service. The price is great, especially for the location. There is a continental breakfast included. There are nearby restaurants. Free wifi.
Cons: Parking is limited in the hotel's parking lot. However, you can find parking on the street, but you may need to walk a little.
Pros: I have a bad back and the bed was comfortable enough to keep from tossing and turning. Rooms had refrigerators and microwaves.
Cons: Free continental breakfast until 9am was completely put away at 8:45. Glad I had some food with me.
Cons: The room smelled stale and faintly of smoke that was covered up. I could not get the shower to produce hot water the first morning so a cold shower. I reported this to the staff and they assured me it would be fixed, but no compensation for the cold shower. The next morning the same thing happened, until I figured out "the trick" to getting the shower to work.
Otherwise it was Ok.
Cons: Found what looked to be rabbit or some other small creatures poop under the bed, in addition to what looked like a bottle of lube under the bed as well. This makes me sick writing about it! The worst part is that I had two children playing in the room. I'm disgusted by both the hotel employees and the guest who allowed their animal to do this!
This is my second stay with a choice hotels chain and there is a slim to none chance I will choose them again. The first time none of my locks worked on the door (AZ hotel). So, anybody could walk right in and help themselves to my stuff. On top of that I have heard nothing back from management.
As always, the stay was perfect. We have always loved the location and the neighborhood surroundings. The proximity of the oceamore timen and the beach is priceless.
Lots of local shops and restaurants make this an ideal stay for other hotels at a much higher price.
Keep up the good work!
Leaving. Wanted more time.

Pros: Fabulous location. Private lounge chairs and private picnic tables with charcoal grills all for the guests of the motel. Two excellent restaurants right next-door. Anything else is quite a hike from the hotel. We used Uber to get around.
Pros: I like how place have stop to barbecue out side and to sit down and enjoy the out side and the ocean water..
Pros: When someone steals money from you and refuses to discuss the incident, it ruins everything. Please see the complaints section as this hotel truly impressed in its refusal to provide any form of customer service.
Cons: We had an issue with our stay, and we attempted to speak with the front desk staff about it. Our attempts were wholly ignored and dismissed. After several (truly) patient attempts to engage the front desk staff, we requested the opportunity to speak with a manager. Shockingly, the manager never acknowledged our existence. That is to say, the manager never spoke to us or met with us. Our requests were repeatedly met with excuses that the manager was "in and out" or "would get back to us" etc. This occurred not only during the time of our stay, but also when we tried to call the manager after our stay. Amazing. Ultimately, this facility stole $200 from us, and the staff and manager never made themselves available to discuss it (by phone or otherwise). Suffice it to say, I would not trust anyone at this hotel, and I would discourage anyone from staying here. The staff does not care about you and they are not aware they are in a customer service industry.

Pros: Stayed there 5 nights for a horse show. The room was large and the bed was very comfortable. The room and bathroom was clean. Air conditioner, refrigerator and microwave worked. The tv was big and worked. Good breakfast for the price (it is included). I liked that the hotel texted and asked if everything was in order. Nice touch.
Cons: The parking spots were quiet small. There was plenty of parking spots, but all the ones by my room were designated compact, and they were not kidding. Also, no dresser in my room. I le oils have preferred less open space and a dresser.
Pros: Pet Friendly
Close to everything
Fridge actually kept things cold
Cons: Small parking spots
Lack of electrical outlets

Pros: The room was honestly pretty nice!! Definitely worth it for the price! Every night that i returned to my room it was clearly cleaned up by housekeeping!!
Cons: One morning @ 5:45 AM the fire alarm went off!! I poked my head out my door as everyone else was doing. I started to get dressed to go down to the front desk but then the alarm stopped. That was the only problem i had during my stay!
Cons: Somewhat dirty, gnats in our room the whole stay, light went out, fridge didn't work, a/c kept turning off.
Cons: TV didn't work right. reception was fuzzy, remote didn't work. Complained, wanted different room, they sent a person wwho reset the TV, when I returned, still sucked. I had a 7 inch samsung tablet that mysteriously dissapeared from the room. Other that they said they would ask the staff, nothing turned up.
Pros: My wife and I stayed for just one night.
Everything was clean, worked and the room was quiet .
The biggest bathroom that I've seen in a motel - ever!
We would stay here again.
Pros: Location was good just a few blocks from moonlight beach.
Cons: Pool was a filthy mess and out of service. The room floors made your feet and socks black they were so dirty. Don't think I would stay there again!!!
Pros: Close to beach

Pros: The location to the beach was awesome. The pool area with the breakfast was great and the beds were so comfortable. Quiet, we really enjoyed it.
Cons: A few front desk people weren't the perkiest but it didn't affect our stay.
Pros: Great location, free parking, great free breakfast.
Cons: Our room smelled moldy, had water stains and a cracked ceiling. The patio under us had a huge dog who peed and crapped twice and the odor wafted up all morning. There was no hot water and the elevators didn't work all three days. They were understaffed.
Pros: The location to the beach and the view from the rooms.
Cons: The mattress, towels, sheets and pillows need to be replaced along with updating the entire hotel.
Pros: Nice size room. Location was west of the freeway - near the ocean. Nice shower. Nice to have a patio.
Cons: Room was very dark, chair was damaged with scratches (by a pet?). Parking lot was challenging when pulling a trailer - very difficult to turn around. Pet area not clean - trash overflowing and pet droppings left behind. View from room was of freeway.
Pros: The staff was helpful and friendly. Plus location to the sea was great.
Cons: Yes, the couch was torn up. We reported it to hotel staff. But no one showed up in inspect. The entire time we were concerned that we were going to blamed. Not fun! We did not feel comfortable sitting on it. So we had to sit on chairs to watch tv.
Pros: Clean & newly remodeled! It was just close enough to the beach and main board walk without paying the same price for a ran down beach hotel. The breakfast was good and overall it had a great family environment!
Pros: I love the location of this hotel and have stayed here a few times before. It is a very nice hotel to stay in. And they are dog friendly too which is a big plus.
Pros: Location was very easy for getting around town.
Pros: Good location, friendly staff, good free breakfast
Cons: Water shut off during shower on 2/21/16 @ 10am. Dog barking all night form car in parking lot. No ice machine on floor 2 and floor 1 ice machine did not work. Had to request extra towels twice. No towels at swimming pool.
Cons: Towels were a dingy gray...all three days. Microwave oven delivered to room was filthy. Erratic WiFi connecticity.
Pros: Very good location.
Pros: Room was huge; great location

Pros: I loved the bed. Super comfortable and the staff was very friendly upon checkin.
Cons: Noisy at night from parking lot.
Pros: Excellent value for the money and amazing location right on coast highway. Also has a fridge and microwave for those leftovers you'll encounter with all the wonderful places to eat here. Staff was very friendly and helpful. I'll be staying here again when I'm in the area.
Cons: Pillow could be thicker but honestly this is me looking for something to put in the negative box here but so minuscule really.
Pros: Nice size room. Close to the beach and nice restaurants. The free wifi was nice. Room was clean.
Cons: No breakfast. Parking is next to impossible at night. The woman at front desk answered us as curtly as possible.
Pros: Good price
Cons: Needs a complimentary breakfast
Cons: Bed and one small pillow
Dirty upholstered chairs
Pros: This was a good stopover place on a trip. The location was good, close to the beach and restaurants.
Cons: The room was a bit outdated. In addition, there was not breakfast.
Cons: The hotel photos include a beach pic which makes no sense because this place is definitely not on the beach. Additionally, the bathroom smelled like cigarette smoke so bad that it was nauseating.
Pros: Man let me tell you about this hidden gem. For 60 bucks Im over here thinking i should be getting a very basic cheap room with a bed or somethin. I mean hotels in the area where hitting $130-250 a night. Man i just wanted a room where i knew i was gonna live. Well not only did i get a room that was CLEAN as can be but the room also had about a 40" flat screen tv sitting on the wall. So im thinking cool i cashed out 60 bucks on a room i feel safe enough in and for the money im like "I came up on a deal" but then...smh (this is a good smh lol) but then I walk into one of the cleanest and roomiest bathrooms ive ever seen. This bathroom was like half of the room size. LoL but it gets better....i turn to the right and find one of the greatest surprises a guy on a business trip could ask for...your talkin about a HUGE jacuzzi freakin tub with bubble jets and a timer. Ohhh i couldn't wait to jump in with my girlfriend. HaHa and unlimited hot water. Man was it well worth the 60 bucks! "Where i come from we gotta shower in under 15mins or we lose the hot water". (Thats a bad smh lol) Encinitas has an old school beach surfers town to it; with a fish taco restaurant next door and a bar 20 steps away that has 4 pool tables only a buck each. So to conclude my good friends, YES I will be back. Cheers.
Cons: Only positive vibes my friends. I enjoyed my self way to much to be mad at anything. Cheers!
