Pros: The room was beautifully furnished, with a very comfortable bed and well designed ensuite. Our host was very friendly and helpful, and was happy to cater to our breakfast requests. Overall a fabulous place to stay.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Fabulous old house, 1727, restored to perfection, Dom8nic was a wonderful host would go back again and again
9.5 Excellent
Pros: The owner is a very pleasant, friendly person. He took breakfast with us everyday and we had a lot of good chat. A superb room, decorated with very good taste.
9.5 Excellent
Pros: Our host, Dominique, offered us his genuine welcome throughout the stay. He was raised in nearby Sommieres so was very proud of his place. There is only one (charming) guest bedroom so we felt like we were his friends who had come to stay rather than paying guests. The room was impeccable with a comfortable king sized bed and modern bathroom. The coffee maker was a bonus, as were the fascinating books about the village, Villevielle, and surrounding villages. Tip - pop into the tourist office in Sommieres to pick up maps with interesting historical walks, we did Sommieres and Villevielle in between a weekly market and excellent Natural Wine Festival! Breakfast was delicious and copious and it was also fun to chat with our host while eating far too much.
Cons: There are no shops or restaurants so you do need to walk, cycle or drive into nearby Sommieres. About 1km. Not a bad thing at all but good to know.
9.5 Excellent
Pros: Dominique is charming and extremely helpful. The breakfast was absolutely perfect. The view from the roof terrasse is magnificent. We slept very well in the charming room with fine design details. Everything needed was available in the bathroom.
Cons: The Wifi in the room at the street level ia a little uneven.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The decor and ambience were especially good. The host Dominque was helpful and had lots of interesting information about the area.
L'oliva - Calvisson - Building

9.7 Excellent (94 reviews)
10.0 Excellent
Pros: a very warm welcome from the hosts Martine and Alain. The welcome drink was taken in the beautiful shed in the garden with a lovely atmosphere. Alain showed us around in Calvisson and explained the small shops drove us around in this nice village to get an impression where we stay. All in all we received very good information about the restaurants, the region to visit and the enterprises to go to for our work to be done. Olivia is in the center of the village and the place is very quiet. The room is good, the beds comfortable. A beautiful place to stay!!
Cons: Everything was perfect
9.3 Excellent
Pros: Tasteful decor in very comfortable room with modern fittings. Super friendly hosts who couldn’t do enough for us. Lent us a brolly and cycled us to the pharmacy. Delicious breakfast and pre dinner drinks.
Cons: The room is in the garden of the property, so not much privacy for longer stays.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: It was one of the best stay in my life. Wonderful hosts and atmosphere. We will definitely come back !
9.5 Excellent
Cons: This tiny oasis in the smallest of villages was an absolute gem. The hosts were amazing, rooms spotless, comfortable and extremely chic. We felt like we were long lost friends who were invited to stay, an extremely generous welcome, fabulous breakfast including speciality cakes from the Bordeaux. Dinner in the local restaurant was pre booked for us and we were escorted there by our hosts in case we got lost. Amazing value for money.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Fantastic breakfast and incredible hospitality. They even booked us a prime table at the local restaurant during an annual festival
10.0 Excellent
Pros: We spent two night at the lovely L'Oliva whilst at a music festival at nearby Langlade. Martine & Alain are one of the most welcoming hosts we have ever stayed with and full of advice on where to visit and eat whilst in the area. There are bikes that you can borrow and L'Oliva is just a couple of minutes cycle from the Voie Vert, an old railway track that has been converted into a 21km cycle path ending at Sommieres. Alain hopped on his bike and cycled us down to the entrance to the pathway to ensure we didn't get lost. The bedroom was large and comfortable, with a nice ceiling fan cooling you down overnight. Plenty of outside space in the flower filled garden in snooze in the sun and a lovely terraced area where an ample breakfast is served. Highly recommended.
Cons: Could be difficult to find, make sure you use the GPS co-ordinates that are provided with the booking which takes you straight to the gate. Otherwise Martine & Alain emailed the evening beforehand to say they could meet us by the church if we got lost.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Took us in when another place cancelled on us. We had a well behaved dog and they don’t usually accept pets but made an exception. They were lovely people and their dog Ursula and ours got on famously. Great breakfast. Really comfortable bed.
Cons: Nothing

Pros: The place itself is easy to find and parking is available in streets nearby. Accommodation is kind of family place which provided us a room with own bathroom. Both rooms were clean, nice and tidy. Free wifi had good signal within the room, which has also right acess to garden with swimming pool. It has to be perfect place for hot summer days when you can enjoy also the exteriors!! :) Breakfast was included and was really rich, tasty and miscellaneous! :))
Cons: Paul (the owner) doesn't speak English but still we were able to understand each other thanks to his phone app which provides online translation from French to English :D The village where is the accommodation located is not much interesting and attractive for tourists.

9.5 Excellent
Pros: The Location, the food and especially the host Manuel.
Cons: Nothing
9.3 Excellent
Pros: Once you pass the entry door, you are immediately immersed in this lovely Southern French lifestyle that makes this region so worth visiting. The old stone building is full of charm and in the same time provides all the comfort and amenities needed for a relaxing night after a long travel. Having met the very welcoming owner in his extraordinary kitchen, I really regretted my late arrival and need for completing some work before bedtime. My room was spacious, tidy with a nice mediterranean decor. Had a wonderful relaxing sleep and a yummy breakfast in the court next morning to get me ready for the rest of my long driving. Will be back with no doubt and bring more time to fully enjoy the place, the cuisine and the friendliness of the owner. Logistically it's just a few minutes from the motorway exit and despite the fact that there is no private parking, this was no issue at all as there is enough nearby street parking.
9.5 Excellent
Pros: Accommodation was great: comfortable spacious room, quiet ambience, nice patio. Special thanks for the excellent food to Manuel. Both dinner and breakfast were delicious. Besides, we were shown the place to buy local fruit and vegetables. Surely we'll be back.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The special dinner was as usual outstanding for a reasonable price
Cons: All was excellent
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The property was renovated by master craftsmen and is very tastefully decorated with high quality fittings. The rooms are generous and the beds were very comfortable. Easy parking. The internal courtyard was a pleasant place to relax and service was excellent. The owner/chef, Manuel, produced a four course meal which we rated as outstanding. He invited us to inspect the fresh ingredients and the open kitchen allowed us to peek at various stages of the preparation. What a kitchen!!!! We can’t wait to return as Manuel promised given a couple of days notice he will prepare special requests. This type of experience is becoming increasingly difficult to experience.
Cons: Nothing. It’s 3 hours drive from where I live and I’ll be returning there often.

9.5 Excellent
Pros: Beautiful artistic place with a perfect location between Nimes, Montpellier, Avignone and Arles. Comfortable and cozy residence to explore the region. The house is an old stone type, typical for this area building, situated behind the church and the municipality. The hosts are very nice and kind people. Congratulations for the delicate, artistic sense to the detail! Very good cafe and French style breakfast are served in a romantic place. In case you are looking for a 5-star comfort it is not your place, but romantic art-lovers should appreciate spending several days in this house .

Pros: We cannot recommend it enough. Make sure your GPS is working as it is located down a tiny lane. Beautiful place to stay. Large bathroom and bedroom which is unusual for France!!
Cons: Do not look any further . Aubais is a lovely little town and staying at La Maison Oiseaux was very special. Wonderful host and hospitality.

9.5 Excellent
Pros: N&C were really welcoming, helpful and friendly! The house was beautiful and full of interesting details. The breakfast was also delicious. The room was really nice and we had our own privacy. Thank you N&C, we really enjoyed our stay at your beautiful house!
Cons: Aubais is not the easiest place to drive a car, but we managed. There is no real grocery store, just a little kiosk or so. It's also hard to find something to eat later in the evening. But these aren't things that N&C could do anything about. The bed was a little short for a person, who is 186 cm tall.
9.3 Excellent
Pros: The charming owners, Natalie and Christophe, welcome you into their home. The rooms are refurbished beautifully and there is a pleasant, walled courtyard where one could dine outside (if the weather had been warmer!). As it was, breakfast was served on the little terrace outside the room. The bathroom was a short walk down the corridor. Cosy, clean and charming - a real home-from-home!
9.5 Excellent
Pros: The bedroom and the bathroom in particular are beautifully decorated. Christophe and Nathalie are the kindest hosts I have ever encountered. They made great suggestions for local restaurants and even made reservations for us (which helps if your French is poor). The town itself is very quiet, but there are lots of sights nearby, like Nimes and Pont du Gard. All in all, we enjoyed our stay very much and would recommend it to anyone who is looking for a great place in the French countryside.

9.3 Excellent
Pros: This is a great place if you have a car and a tiny bit of French. It’s quiet and the views across the valley are lovely. The ground floor apartment was comfortable and spacious, with interesting original features and it was good to have access to a microwave. Breakfast was a generous selection of warm bread and pastries with juice, yoghurt and excellent coffee. Parking was secure and convenient .Our host was friendly and tried to be helpful, given the language limitations. It was well worth the effort.
Cons: We had to ask for bath towels when we arrived, a bit difficult with my very limited French.

Pros: Lovely diner, great ambiance in the chateau! Would definitely recommend it to everyone.
Cons: The Wifi network was really slow, and kept searching for connection
6.3 Good
Pros: Fantastic historical building .
Cons: It’s still a work in progress and seemed rather disjointed both in furnishing style and staffing. Obviously needs a lot of work but it has enormous potential. Maybe I’d visit in 20 years to see what they’ve managed to achieve
8.0 Excellent
Pros: One of the most beautiful places I've ever stayed at. Very good service from the hotel and super comfortable rooms. The whole hotel was amazing and if it wasn't for the bad experience at the restaurant i would have given it 10/10.
Cons: Our experience at the hotel restaurant: the serving took forever and the fish was overcooked. Even if I had to send it back, I never got a new one. Instead, I got an excuse from the chef in front of everyone and an extra dessert (which I didn't ask for and, to be honest, I would prefer a new maincourse). I still had to pay for the fish. It was one of the more expensive dinners we had in France, with the absolute worst service.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Oh my goodness, this was my big OE and to celebrate here was absolutely amazing. We were just blown away by the Chateau, gardens, room and staff. It was a fairytale stay and one that will be remembered fondly forever.
Cons: The degustation meal was quite expensive but not unreasonable to expect from the Paris chef. Everything was sublime, it was just a little bit of a surprise at the end but I am not complaining just letting you know to be prepared - well worth the experience.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The whole ambience of the Chateau was great, if you're looking for serenity, this is the best place! Food at night was excellent in the restaurant of the hotel. Staff was very friendly and welcoming. There were woods next to it where you can enjoy a fresh walk.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Lovely old château beautifully restored
Cons: Car parking was quite a distance away but was very spacious
9.5 Excellent
Pros: Breathtaking location.
Cons: The wifi connection was horrible and you had to create an account giving your information to a third company. This is a no go for me, especially when the internet connection is that bad. The door of the room is very thin, sou you hear everything outside the room.
8.8 Excellent
Pros: Great staff and very good restaurant.
Cons: Small double bed and antiquated wifi connection.

Pros: The domaine is charming as were the owners who made us feel very welcome. Loved the soft furnishings and decor and the courtyards and garden. Breakfast was delicious with plenty of choice and home made jams and yoghurt. We had a lovely relaxed stay.
Cons: Opening the shower door causes the toilet/bathroom door to open. It would be good to have a magnetic catch fitted that allows the bathroom door to stay closed and be pushed open.

Pros: The hosts are really kind and helpful. They know so much about the area and even drove us to local sights. The breakfast is wonderful. They make their own pancakes and bread and jam. There is a kitchen and a terrace for eating and the view is spectacular. The place is clean and has everything you need. We brought our 2 year old daughter and she had her own room with a little bed and toys. We will come back. It is 30 mins drive to Nines which is worth visiting.
Cons: It is a bit difficult to get around if you don't have a car but Christian was so kind and helpful, driving us to the bus stop and arranging cheap transport for us to get to the airport. Next time we will bring a car. The pool wasn't ready to use because they had had some cold weather it being May.

Pros: Christian and marie were fantastic hosts, very attentive and the place was stunning ♥️
Cons: Nothing
8.3 Excellent
Pros: Views. Pool
Cons: Rooms like BNB. Old family bedrooms. Difficult to find. Use sat nav.
9.3 Excellent
Pros: I have to say Christian was an wonderful host. Christian explained the surrounding areas and history of the region and gave us a warm welcome. During our stay, there were another family besides Christian, we had access to a shared fully equipped kitchen. The property is overlooking a valley and equipped with an outdoor heated swimming pool which I loved! Our room was tastefully decorated with a double bed, one sofa bed and a fold out bed. There was also a mini-fridge and air-cooler which was obviously more than we expected.
Cons: The only downside to all of the above was that it's located in a sort-of remote location and the path (chemin) leading up to the property isn't really motorable by modern standard! Also wifi signal was a bit weak but did I say that they had a swimming pool with an amazing view?

10.0 Excellent
Pros: My wife and I were travelling through France for our honeymoon. We were staying in Saint Maxime, but after two days were tired the busyness and being surrounded by other tourists. We live in NY and really wanted solitude, serenity and calm for our honeymoon. We decided to change locations and luckily found Bergerie de Fontbonne. We could not have asked for more. The location was so quiet, and we hardly saw any other people, the property was absolutely beautiful. Sitting on an expansive piece of gorgeous land, complete with a lavender field and vineyard. The pool was on a small hilltop and had the perfect amount of sunlight and shade. My wife and I were the only guests and that made it even more perfect. The house and room were also perfect. Perfectly decorated, perfectly cool, super chic and beautiful. The wifi (needed to look up directions and other info pertaining to our trip) and AC in the room worked perfectly well (as NY'ers, AC is pretty important to us.) Pascale the owner, was wonderful, she is so kind and made us feel completely welcome in her oasis of a home. Pascale recommended the best local restaurants and wineries and even made reservations for us. A lot of times you may find that hotel or BnB's recommend local restaurants but they may not be that great, but the 2 of 4 restaurant recommendations that we tried were amazing. Every morning Pascale made the most beautiful and fresh breakfast for us to start the day, there was an extra charge for breakfast, but it was well worth the small price. She was super attentive but also respected our space. She also makes her own lavender oil, which we were able to buy as souvenirs for our family and friends to enjoy. I highly recommend Bergerie de Fontbonne and look forward to making an annual trip to this amazing property!
Cons: Everything was amazing.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The staff is incredibly friendly, the rooms and the gardens and fields around are just beautiful - it is everything you would expect and more from a picturesque spot in Provence! I would love to come back here and would recommend it to anyone looking for a wonderful place to stay.

Pros: Nicely rebuilt old railway station. Nice pool area. Good with the possibility to rent bikes and nice that it is so close to the bicyclepath Voie verte.
Cons: Room was extremely small and dark. A bit noisy at the pool with screaming kids and partying guests.
9.5 Excellent
Pros: Beautiful old building. We stayed in the terrace block which is quiet and very pretty. We were only there for one night and wish it had been longer. We had adjoing rooms and I didn’t hear any noise from my son next door though other reviews spoke of thin walls. Lovely setting with a nice swimming pool and lovely gardens. A short walk into town and my son found us a fabulous restaurant (Lou Caleou next) tucked away behind an unprepossessing door on the edge of town. You enter a magical courtyard and the food is first class. The strawberry soup with langoustine was exceptional!
Cons: There was an empty fridge in the room - some chilled water would have been nice. There is no safe in the room.

Pros: Breakfast available (orange juice, coffee, madeleines), very nice. The host was exceptionally understanding of our circumstances (move to the area), late arrival, etc. Lovely good sized rooms, very quaint. Both give access to a little yard.
Cons: Unfortunately the restaurant bar next to the gîte was having a fairly noisy evening. Stopped at midnight. Beds are a bit stiff.

Pros: Claire and her partner are very kind persons! We got extra bread for our diner, Claire found glue for our son to build his paper toys and she helped me finding back my earrings and necklace. We enjoyed our quiet evening looking to the jeux the boules at the central courtyard in this small town. Glad it rained at the end of a very hot day. Cosy and lovely coloured room and a nice courtyard to eat your breakfast outside.
