Pros: Great location with a view of the Castle and in the centre of town. Castle and museum are 5 minutes away.
Cons: There was nothing we didn't like
Pros: Owner let me park my motorcycle in the garage. Lovely friendly owner. Ample breakfast. Lovely big room. In the d town under the castle. Plenty of eateries within walking distance.
Pros: Location and the owner Sonja. She replied quickly to questions, helped us manoeuvre our car in and out of the garage (not easy!), and went out of her way to provide a gluten free breakfast for my husband. All with a smile on her face.
Cons: The WiFi was very poor whilst we were here and kept fading in and out.
Pros: Great breakfast-gratuit, fantastic location in a quiet and attractive area of the old tiown, right opposite a great restaurant: L'Atlas and seconds from excellent bakers, shops, castle, etc. The lady who runs l'Arche des Chapeliers is very friendly and helpful, lending me a french plug adapter for recharging my phone & providing me with a 6am breakfast for an early morning departure.
Cons: Nothing, everything was great.
Pros: Sonia the host was lovely and attentive. Made us feel at home backed by beautiful view(top floor
Cons: Should have stayed longer
Located in Foix, La Ciboulette is in a rural location, within a 5-minute drive of Pyrenees Ariégeoises Regional Natural Park and Chateau de Foix. Free self parking is available onsite.
Pros: Very good breakfast and evening meal. Very friendly family establishment. Good parking. Private.
Pros: Fine big room, lovely period furniture, good breakfast with choices, friendly hosts... What more could one want? The place is also a restaurant - if you are lucky. On the evening I was there the restaurant was closed. Nothing else nearby, the location is out of town.
Pros: Wonderful patio.
Cons: Sorry the restaurant wasn’t open the night we were there.
Pros: The location with quiet nature and a river, full of energy ! Meeting and talking with the owners. Excellent breakfast ! Location 5 minutes by car from the city of Foix. The renovated spacious room with bathroom !
Pros: The lady who owns the Chambre d'hote is extremely friendly and works very hard to ensure her guests have a lovely stay. The room was large, very comfortable and very relaxing. The house has a lovely outdoor area where guests can sit and relax. The breakfast is delicious which includes homemade jams. The lady also runs a restaurant that I highly recommend, the food is simply delicious. Foix is very close and very accessible from the property and so it is an excellent place to stay if visiting Foix and the surrounding area.
Pros: Quiet location set in spacious grounds. Hosts made you feel welcome and the food was excellent. We had an evening meal and would recommend it to anybody - lots of locals eating there.
Pros: Comfortable great facilities lovely staff
Pros: Nice, large and clean room. Very good breakfast.
Pros: Breakfast was great -- included fresh eggs from the chickens outside! Very personal and attentive service. We felt we were staying with old friends.
Cons: Was a little tricky to find the first time. Not a lot of dining opportunities in Foix.
Pros: Nice breakfast Large room Helpful and friendly staff

The nearest airport is Carcassonne Airport, 87 km from La Mirandole.
Pros: Excellent position to see the town and close to restaurants. The room was spacious and comfortable with lovely view of garden. The breakfast was typically French and there was plenty of very good coffee. The hosts were very friendly and very helpful. Carpark was great.
Cons: The lighting in the room was insufficient to sit and read at the table.
Pros: Lovely room with great art, exposed stone walls are superb interior design. Very comfy bed too.
Cons: Parking is a little tricky but only a short walk away- but I'm splitting hairs.
Pros: Private parking very useful.
Cons: Very steep stairs to room. Room full of arty fixtures and fittings: we'd have swapped a few mannequins for a bedside table and a refill of teabags.
Pros: The location was perfect. The accommodation was quirky and delightful. Our hosts were kind and welcoming.
Cons: All was fine.
Pros: The closeness to the city. The Parking situation is terrible and can cost you potentially a lot of money
Cons: The parking situation is terrible and can cost you potentially a lot of money
Pros: This was a beautiful room--so lovingly decorated with gorgeous colors! And surprisingly large, with big windows overlooking the courtyard garden. I also liked that it was in a separate building from the innkeeper--everyone gets a little privacy that way. Oh, and the room is literally at the bottom of the street that goes to the castle--just steps away.
Cons: This is not a disabled-accessible location--there are steep stairs to get to the room. This was fine for us, but might be a concern for others. Also, this room is best for a couple or a single person. The bathroom isn't really a separate room from the bedroom-just a dividing wall away, so you should know and like your travel partner! (The toilet is a small separate room). These are not flaws, just things to be aware of.
Pros: Lovely hostess.
Pros: The situation. Jacqueline, Patrick and Lulus welcome and helpfulness. When I mentioned that I needed to book a taxi from tarascon to the grotte de niaux, she personally went to the TI to get details. The quirky room. Her wonderful paintings. The pretty and peaceful garden.
Cons: Wasn't much not to like! Just the lighting was rather dreary.
Located in Foix, Le Gîte de Pawel is within a 5-minute drive of Pyrenees Ariégeoises Regional Natural Park and Chateau de Foix. Featured amenities include a 24-hour front desk and multilingual staff. Free self parking is available onsite.
Pros: Nice hosts. Very clean and well organised.
Pros: Breakfast was amazing! Frank was very friendly and informative.
Cons: The tiles near the pool were very slippery when wet. One of our group had a fall.
Pros: The hosts are fantastic. The apartment is beautifully appointed and decorated. The outside facilities were a bonus. The breakfast is exceptional. We have travelled down through France to this stay and no other breakfast comes close. We hope to be able to stay again Thoroughly recommended
Cons: Can't think of a thing
Pros: It was great to be able to relax by the pool. Breakfast was excellent with a great variety of food and plenty of it.
Pros: Excellent breakfast.
Cons: Shared bathroom = but this was not a problem.
Pros: The property was very quiet on the edge of Foix surrounded by a beautiful big garden with a pool. We had the Studio so that we could cook our evening meal. The choice of food for breakfast was excellent. Hosts were very nice and welcoming.
Pros: Kindness and flexibility of Pawel, room decoration
Located in Surba, Les Châtaigniers de Florac is in a rural location, within a 5-minute drive of Rail Model Ariegeois and Prehistoric Park. The front desk is staffed during limited hours. Free self parking is available onsite.
Pros: My husband and I just loved this accommodation. We had a very warm welcome from Sylvie, the owner who showed us around and made us feel very welcome. We had heard that her homemade pizza was the best. We were very impressed that she offered to make us pizzas before leaving for a family event in the evening. We ordered beer and a bottle of wine from her and sat out on her lovely patio to eat. The pizza lived up to the reviews. The next night we enjoyed a home cooked meal. We delightedly sat around her kitchen travel with her other guests and enjoyed one of the very best meals of our entire 5 weeks of travel cooked by Sylvie and her husband. The room was extremely, clean, comfortable and quiet. The pool was also very clean and very welcome after our hot day on the road. The hot tub was not bad either. We also enjoyed a delicious breakfast. One of the nicest stays on our trip.
Cons: We loved everything. The hot tub could have been a little hotter.
Pros: Slyvie was a great host, the property was beautiful. A lovely stay thank you.
Cons: Breakfast was a little basic, for the cost of the B and B.
Pros: The room was very comfortable.
Pros: Big room, separated from the owner's house, with a lot of privacy. Home made confiture and yogourt are served for breakfast in the main house. The owner is very attentive.
Pros: The cottage was very well equipped and nice to use to explore the surroundings. The host Sylvie is very nice and makes great pizza!
Located in Mercus-Garrabet, Ariège Azimuth is on the riverwalk, within a 15-minute drive of Chateau de Foix and Lombrives Cave. Featured amenities include a computer station, multilingual staff, and laundry facilities. Planning an event in Mercus-Garrabet? This residence has facilities measuring 100 square feet (9 square meters), including a meeting room. Free self parking is available onsite.
Pros: - breakfast - hosts - swimming pool - view
Cons: Remember, it's not a hotel. It's a B&B, and the big apartment is not really an apartment. it used to be some farm house or a barn, converted into a 3-story apartment by the hosts themselves. The stairs are steep (or just some wooden boards), watch out for the head and steps, and there are level differences here and there. You'd also have to pass through some basement / workshop areas to get to the garden/pool, which could be tricky for small children, pregnant women or anyone that's access-challenged, especially with heavy bags to carry. It's hand-made, and kind of rough, if you know what I mean. So if you look for a hotel-like access or comfort, this is not your place. That said, the host is vey kind and prepares great breakfast. The small swimming pool is well-kept and heated. As long as you can enjoy the feeling of visiting the country home of your uncle (ex-hippy), who happens to have bought a home in the mountains in another country (conversatoin can be a challenge if you are not a Flemish native speaker), you'd love this place. it was just not for me.
Pros: Great and peaceful location. Dirk and Leen are superb and welcoming hosts. Dirk also provided excellent recommendations on places to visit. Good, assorted homemade breakfast.
Cons: The access to the family rooms can be a bit tricky in terms of steep stairs and trap doors, although it was ok for us. Some parts of the bathroom could be cleaner.
Pros: Amazing location, very friendly and a lovely pool for us and the kids after a long drive. Delicious breakfast.
Pros: Very nice hosts, lovely place, excellent breakfast. And I slept so well...
Pros: Leen and Dirk (and their two dogs) warmly welcomed us into their home and graciously treated us to a daily breakfast of fresh, local produce, including eggs from their own chickens, confiture of fruits from their own garden and home-baked breads. They also offered a 3-course dinner option based on local cuisine. The location is excellent--nestled in a quite village surrounded by mountains--and there's no light pollution so that on a clear night you can enjoy the starlit sky from their terrace...or from their swimming pool. It's also centrally located to visit the numerous local attractions, and Dirk always provided us top tips for not-to-miss activities and restaurants. We feel like we have made new friends and look forward to returning for their open hospitality and exploring more of the Ariege region via hiking trails and their mountain bike rentals that we didn't have time to avail ourselves of on this trip!
Pros: This place is a gem ! We loved the fact it was so remote. The hosts are fabulous and so friendly! Food is great! The kids loved it. We hope we’ll come back one day!
Pros: Dirk and Leen are great hosts, their food and home are excellent! We would love to comeback!
Pros: The magnificent views of the mountains. Eating on the terrace looking at the mountains. The welcome cool of the swimming pool. Wonderful garden. Very friendly relaxed hosts. Beautiful valley to explore on foot. Feels remote but easy to get to by car.
Pros: Excellent food and friendly hosts
With a stay at Hotel The Originals du Lac Foix (ex Inter-Hotel) in Foix, you'll be steps from Pyrenees Ariégeoises Regional Natural Park and a 4-minute drive from Chateau de Foix. Featured amenities include complimentary newspapers in the lobby and luggage storage. This hotel has 2 meeting rooms available for events. Free self parking is available onsite.
Pros: The hotel was comfortable. In a nice setting. Spacious modern rooms. Very clean. Very helpful and friendly staff. Our evening meal was excellent.
Cons: The coffee machine, not nice coffee.
Pros: Room was more of a 4* than 3*. Great local produce. Quiet and peaceful. Lovely staff. Would love to come back.
Cons: It’s about a 35 min walk on a main road from the station, so car recommended. Walk, however, was nice!
Pros: The Hotel du Lac is in a ribbon development just off the main road out of town, next to the river and a small public park. Our rooms were in the new “motel-style” block, opening straight out onto the garden area with a pond, vegetable bed and chicken run. It’s a strange mix of extremely well presented (restaurant, dining terrace, room) and a tiny bit tired (outside areas). The welcome was warm, the staff absolutely lovely, the food good and the room clean and comfortable. Very convenient for exploring Foix and surrounding areas.
Pros: Located outside of Foix on lake. Nice upgraded hotel. Good stop over after a day of exploring Cathar country.
Cons: Very disappointed with this hotel. Not really in town and staff not at all helpful. Don’t bother with this very run down place.
Pros: We loved sitting on the sunny terrace looking over the lake.
Cons: Can't think of anything
Pros: Good room for price
Cons: Restaurant food below standard expected though breakfast was good. Would not book dinner there again
8.2 Excellent (1,252 reviews)
See hotel page Only an hour away from Carcassonne, Toulouse and the Pyrnes Arigeoises Regional Natural Park, The Originals Access, Hotel Foix is the perfect base from which to explore some of the regions natural and cultural wonders. Samuel Grave and his team are delighted to offer you a quality 2-star hotel at an affordable price with a range of rooms, as well as a restaurant, shared lounge, meeting room, garden and free car park.
Pros: Welcoming staff, cleanliness, breakfast and excellent brasserie.
Pros: The staff were happy and friendly. They went above and beyond the call of duty and made for a very pleasant stay. The room had perfect climate with good A/C and overlooked a green lawn 5 mins walk from a park on the river. Good sized bathroom with proper bath and excellent food at the restaurant.
Cons: Having to leave.
Pros: Really great staff! All of them. The restaurant was very nice. Good food for a good price. Lovely desert buffet. The room has all you need. Not too big but it works just fine. Great beds.
Cons: Uhm, nothing really
Pros: The 2nd time we were in a room which had been repainted and was much brighter. The staff were friendly and efficient - a rare combination! We had breakfast and dinner, plenty of choice at both. The menu of the day is particularly good value. The hotel is obviously an old Campanile. There are no kettles in the rooms but otherwise the hotel is much like Campaniles used to be and sadly no longer are.
Cons: Stayed at the hotel on 2 occasions. The 1st time the room was a bit tired and the main lights didn't work properly.
Pros: Cleanliness of the room and the bath
Cons: Very basic but adequate
Pros: The location was good
Cons: The matras was bad, the springs were pushing in my body. It was a poor quality matras
Pros: Clean, comfortable, all what is needed for one night. Breakfast good, friendly staff. Just like motel at home, car space outside the room.
Pros: Towels and bedding ample and good quality
Cons: Stairs to upper floor quite steep and no lighting R
Pros: Breakfast exceptional but did not see possibility of simpler/ cheaper option..
Cons: lighting in the room
Located in Foix, Hôtel Pyrène is in a regional park, within a 5-minute drive of Pyrenees Ariégeoises Regional Natural Park and Les Forges de Pyrène. Featured amenities include multilingual staff and luggage storage. Free self parking is available onsite.
Cons: Tea/coffee making facilities would be a very welcome addition
Pros: Efficient, friendly staff, bathroom a little dated, but everything worked.
Cons: No lounge for guests to relax
Pros: The hotel is just outside Foix (2 min drive) and is ideal for a 1 night stopover (I wouldn’t advise staying longer) Hotel was basic but clean. Staff friendly and check in was straightforward
Cons: We were on the ground floor, wasn’t convinced the doors onto the terrace were that secure so kept the shutters down throughout our stay. Basic hotel with very dated bathroom. One night was long enough and as per other reviewers, it is a stop over hotel. Have stayed at more luxurious places in region for same price.
Pros: The room, towels and linen was clean and the patio outside very pleasant. The breakfast was adequate for the price.
Cons: The room was clean and pleasant but bed was quite soft and the bathroom could do with a refresh. The old green tiles and bath shower was outdated.
Pros: Good for an overnight stay. Pleasant hosts. Comfortable room and good breakfast
Cons: Needed transport to find a restaurant
Cons: No proper shower or non slip surface in bath, very thin smallish towels, not really 3 stars rating for facilities. No bar or restaurant or tea/coffee making facilities in room.
Pros: Food was great.Very fresh breads.
Cons: Door to family room was transparent glass.
A stay at Hotel Restaurant Lons places you in the heart of Foix, just a 4-minute walk from Chateau de Foix and within a 5-minute drive of Pyrenees Ariégeoises Regional Natural Park. Featured amenities include complimentary newspapers in the lobby, multilingual staff, and an elevator.
Pros: Nice old building in the center of a lovely medieval town, but the interior is quite modern, with elevator, the room was nice and had a nice modern bathroom, breakfast was good, dinner overlooking the river was very nice.
Cons: Parking in a medieval town can be a challenge, but we got lucky.
Cons: Difficulty of parking
Pros: Great location and nice staff.
Cons: Odd smell as you walk in, very disappointing breakfast. Bed linen needs upgrading. The use blankets which are very very dated which made the room feel dirty, although I am sure it wasn't.
Pros: The location and view. Very lucky with parking. It is a must stop for people en-route to Spain or Andorra.
Pros: Great location, staff were very friendly, clean and tidy
Cons: No secure parking, had to park in square out front of hotel, but was a quite area so seemed fairly safe
Pros: Excellent location, parking is fairly easy, staff are friendly, breakfast room with view of river is nice.
Cons: Room was pretty basic for the price paid. Even if there was no river view (a shame considering the hotel's excellent position overlooking the river), given the room rate there should have been a fridge and better bathroom facilities. The wi-fi connection didn't work, though the friendly woman at reception attempted for 15 minutes to get my device connected. Annoying.
Pros: Very quiet and friendly atmosphere!
Cons: No parking places
Pros: Great location overlooking a little square in the old town so it was a short walk to everything of interest.
Cons: The internal renovation was dated and had sadly lost the character of the old building. There was no tea / coffee facilities in the room (fridge, kettle etc), but there was one we could use downstairs in the dining room.
Pros: Clean spacious rooms. Brilliant location, very close to the castle and other sites in Foix. Absolutely brilliant dinner at the restaurant - reasonably priced and fantastic quality.
Cons: Unfortunately came upon a dog poo outside our door on the landing. Although this was cleaned up, we didn't exactly get the reaction we were expecting when we reported it! A little bit too laid back considering the health implications of having feaces in a communal area.

Cons: Room was very small, bed was very uncomfortable the mattress was very thin almost like a camp bed. No drinking water in room and no tea or coffee making facilities. Very basic. The room was very clean. Air conditioning was a good bonus as the weather was extremely warm. Hotel reception closes at 10pm no food or drink served after this time.
Pros: Ni e friendly efficient staff. Quiet room on ground floor away from main road. Good WiFi and easy parking for free was great. It is a ten minute drive to old town and castle area. I found the stay excellent value and it is a great hotel for a night or two. Didn't have breaky so can't comment. The room was very clean and modern
Cons: Room was small but for money still good value.
Pros: It is neat and clean and easy.... the price was great
Cons: Would be nice to have a fridge and microwave in the room
Pros: Its a bed for the night when passing through and Buffalo Bills restaurant is next door!
Cons: Location, its a Motel not a Hotel, but we knew this when booking it
Pros: The owners were very friendly and we enjoyed talking to them.
Cons: The room was small. When I booked the twin room which was stated as being the same size as the others but this was not the case. I can now understand why it was cheaper. We only discovered this in the morning. Had we known we would probably have booked the double room. Room description needs to be amended/ checked.
Pros: Staff excellent, breakfast good, covered parking for motorbikes/ cycles
Cons: Was difficult to find using Tom tom, didn't recognise the code and sent us in to town at rushour
Pros: Great improvements have been made, especially the new motorcycle hut. Very thoughtful.
Pros: Very friendly staff who allowed us to check in earlier and recommended nearby restaurants which were exvellent.
Pros: Great service from reception, much appreciated. Buffalo Grill 2 mins walk.
Pros: Friendly staff, secure parking.

Cons: General cleanliness (heavy presence of cobwebs). The cabin I was staying in is perfect for summer time but did not really worked with colder weather
Pros: Shower was ok
Cons: Booked superior bungalow pictures showed normal facilities when we got there turned out to be a tent without toilet or shower had to pay more a tiny hut no inside seating a very very small bedroom and shower room both accessable from out side deck
Pros: The pool and lake are excellent for younger children. We did some kayaking on the lake and the site is 5 mins drive from the town.
Pros: Everything about our chalet and location was brilliant, the hosts were informative and friendly. I would recommend this location to anyone wanting a real Pyrenees experience.
Cons: Poor reception, poor service, no sheets and pillowcases on the bed, lack of warm bedding, breakfast was bought from a local supermarket and only available after 8. Just 4 croissants, carton of milk and orange juice, tea and coffee sachets provided but kettle to make. Shocking experience.
Pros: The space and ease of parking, easy access to and from the main road
Cons: Nobody had switched the boiler on so no hot water, we had to ask for towels and linen, outside table and chairs were very dirty.
Pros: Easy access as quite close to train station. We travelled by bike from toulouse

Pros: This is one of the best and most memorable stays of my 5 week trip. The owners were extremely committed to making me welcome and comfortable. The location is perfect for what I was looking for. Close to the city of Foix; but rural. Perfect. The owners do not speak English; however, they are the perfect example that if people want to communicate, they will find a way. A very personal stay, one of the most enjoyable of my trip. After I put my luggage in my room; I went outside to the back patio. I'd had a very long drive and wanted to relax. The owner asked me if I wanted something to drink. I asked for a beer and she brought it. Then I asked her via pantomime if she'd bring me a sandwich; and she did. We then spent 15 minutes or so "talking" even though she doesn't speak english and my french didn't help at all. Just wonderful people, pleasant accommodation, lovely environment. When I come back to Foix; I'll absolutely stay here again. The chickens greeting me at breakfast was a nice treat. Yes, rural.
Cons: Very happy with the stay.
Located in Foix, Le Saint Vincent offers accommodation with free WiFi and flat-screen TV, as well as a restaurant and a bar. Guests at the bed and breakfast can enjoy a buffet breakfast. Le Saint Vincent offers a terrace. Foix Castle is 700 metres from the accommodation. The nearest airport is Carcassonne Airport, 86 km from Le Saint Vincent.
Pros: Location ok. But it is not a big town so it will be central.
Cons: Worst room ever. In deep need for an upgrade. No showerhead in the shower. Definitely more of a two-star hotel than a 3 star as it is.
Pros: Continental breakfast. Dinner in the restaurant was good.
Cons: No parking at the hotel so we had to find parking in the roads nearby.
Pros: I stayed in Hotel Lons, not in Le Saint Vincent.
Pros: I had stayed before,so knew what to expect. I liked the area. Nice staff. Typical Continental breakfst.Good
Cons: Noisy locals talking forever on the outside tables!
