Pros: Poppy's Guesthouse provided excellent accommodation to meet the needs of a weary sailor. Having participated in the Fastnet Race, the check-in process was flexible, the room was quiet and comfortable, the shower was wonderful and the breakfast was good too.

Pros: We've stayed at Poppy's many times and wouldn't use any other guest house. It is always spotless throughout, the owner is extremely hospitable, nothing is too much trouble and there's a lovely ambience about the place. Breakfast is excellent and plentiful with a good variety of choices - cooked options, cereals, yogurts, fruit etc. The rooms are very comfortable and bright, there are absolutely no negatives at all for this fabulous guest house. The location is excellent for all that Plymouth has to offer - shops, theatres, eateries etc. and only a short walk from the hoe. Positioned in a quiet side street I would recommend it to anyone !

10.0 Excellent
Pros: Beautiful hotel, in a very quiet area. In front is the Abbey, a beautiful place to visit. Good room size, very clean, beautiful outdoor areas to rest or drink, good bed, good rest. Silent. Very good price for the quality of the hotel. We do not pay breakfast at the hotel because we wake up too late, I can not talk about the quality of breakfast, although apparently it is very complete. In front of the hotel, in the gardens of the abbey, there is a large restaurant with excellent food at a low price. As we woke up late, we went for a walk to the abbey and at noon we had lunch in this restaurant, I recommend it. The hotel restaurant, that Saturday was closed.
Cons: We had 2 small inconveniences:   When arriving at night it is not easy to find the hotel, since there is no good signaling. The shower floor is not well designed, which causes the water to go out to the bathroom floor. Everything else excellent

Glazebrook House Hotel - South Brent - Building
6
9.5 Excellent (231 reviews)
Overview Reviews
With a stay at Glazebrook House Hotel in South Brent, you'll be within a 15-minute drive of Dartmoor and Buckfast Abbey. Featured amenities include a 24-hour front desk and luggage storage. Event facilities at this hotel consist of a conference center and a meeting room. Free self parking is available onsite.
6.7 Good
Pros: Glazebrook house was a solid 7.5 - 8 overall. The room we had (Cheshire Cat) was good but let down (just a tad) by single glazed windows that, on two sides, couldn't be locked. This was an issue for one since they were located right next to a flat roof. Obviously, in a location like this it is unlikely to be an issue, but for the sake of a simple fix it would be resolved. The single glazing, however, was insufficient to keep out the distant, low rumble from the dual carriageway about half a mile away. Splitting hairs a little, but when you book a hotel in Dartmoor you expect complete tranquility. Whilst it was pretty quiet, it wasn't silent. Just enough road noise to remind you of the world you'd thought you'd escaped from, if even for just one night. Again, a fairly simple fix of double glazing would have resolved things. Food was good but not great. Again, it may seem like splitting hairs, but when an overnight stay costs this much you expect to be wowed. We were pleased but not wowed. Cocktails were great, as was the service. Venue was intriguing and different. Would I recommend it? - yes. Would I go again? Been there, done that. Close, but no cigar.
Cons: See previous description. Close, just not quite there.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Amazing detail to perfection. Staff very friendly and hotel it self was very unique

9.2 Excellent
Pros: This was our wedding anniversary treat and we felt thoroughly spoilt. The restaurant was superb, our room tastefully and uniquely decorated and the hotel staff friendly, professional and attentive. We liked the owner coming to speak with us on our last night too as a personal touch. We will most certainly be back.
8.0 Excellent
Pros: Whilst the rooms were amazing it could do with some attention to the rooms ( walls need a repaint, some new grout in the shower)
Cons: The only thing that let it down a little was they was no top up of milk or coffee in the room which I would have expected as standard
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Design is unique both in rooms and public area. The staff is super nice and welcoming. Breakfast- excellent, in variety and quality. The garden is manicured.
Cons: Prefer the rear rooms as the hotel is with proximity to A38.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Amazing decor, brilliant service and generally a lovely stay
10.0 Excellent

9.6 Excellent
Pros: Was a fantistic, clean, beautiful room. Very pleasent place to stay and just what we both needed a nice break in Plymouth to get away from Tewkesbury. All the staff were extreamely friendly and helpful. The breakfast had loads to choose from and cooked breakfast was done to order. Me and my partner Gareth were not keen on the sausages as they were very herby and a little undercooked apart from this an excellent place to stay and well recomended.
Cons: Only critisisum would be that there was quiet a lot of noise outside from some kind of music venue located near by. maybe because we had the window open!!
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Staff was great, breakfast was excellent property is beautiful
Cons: If you are on a lower floor, as there was no aircon or fans if you would like to sleep with the window open one doesn’t have security as there were no security grills.

Pros: Lovely property and very friendly and helpful owners! Our daughter who stayed just around the corner in a hotel was kindly invited to have breakfast with us. Thank you! The breakfast was excellent! Ask for a top floor bedroom - it is good size and really lovely!
Cons: The headboards for beds were a bit lose and made a noise at night. The pillows... hard and synthetic. But this is very common problem. I suppose it is hard to resolve, otherwise we wouldn't need to take our own with us every time we travel.

Cons: nothing
8.8 Excellent
Pros: Excellent location and very good facilities. The restaurant was excellent and the overall experience did not disappoint. All the staff did as much as they could to ensure the stay was an enjoyable one
Cons: Only one issue, which was the water pressure for the bath/shower. To be fair the issue was pre-warned and is due to the property relying on a well - which is understandable given its secluded location. However, I'm sure a better solution could be found with some investment.

Pros: Everything the room was large and very clean, nicely furnished and a huge comfortable bed. Nice ensuite with large shower the crowning glory was the balcony and the stunning views over the river. The food was excellent and the staff were all very friendly and accommodating all in all a great stay
Cons: Nothing all great
9.2 Excellent
Pros: Nice clean room comfy bed and great view across to Saltash
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Picked this B&B mainly for its proximity to the crematorium :-( Apart from that, the location is absolutely fantastic, looking out over the river Tamar with a beautiful view of IK Brunel's rail bridge and the not quite so iconic but still interesting Tamar bridge. I arrived just after the kitchen closed, but they were still happy to rustle me up a salad, which saved me heading out to find something to eat - although I did notice a couple of restaurants not far away. Breakfast was also very good, ample choice available. Plenty of free parking on the street outside. Room was comfortable and clean, with coffee, tea and hot chocolate available.
Cons: Very minor criticism - the stair carpet could do with a bit of a clean?
7.5 Good
Pros: Everything was good, food lovely.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: This turned out to be a highlight of our trip! We just required somewhere handy to stop over after leaving the Roscoff ferry. The quiet location was stunning, right at the old Saltash ferry slipway on the River Tamar, moored yachts, and the Brunell bridge. The hosts and other guests were exceptionally welcoming. The breakfast, dinner and beer were excellent. I particularly liked the model vessels on display . There are tables opposite on the riverbank, and hanging baskets of flowers on the walls. There were no problems with the on-street parking.
Cons: Nothing whatsoever, unless maybe not booking a second night! We really enjoyed our stay.
8.3 Excellent
Pros: was very good all round and very good value for money
Cons: nothing all good
8.3 Excellent

10.0 Excellent
Pros: Cosy, clean and modern room with nice view. Easy parking outside. Friendly staff and tasty home-cooked food in the pub downstairs. Good breakfast with plenty of choice. Really good value and would stay again.
Cons: Nothing - I was very happy with the value and slept well.
7.1 Good
Pros: The food was good value and the room still seemed new.
Cons: 4 in a bed would have hammered the cleanliness of the bathroom. Plug in sink and grouting in shower.

10.0 Excellent
Pros: The hotel was amazing - I couldn't fault a thing! Upon arrival I was asked whether i'd like to be up or downstairs and told that there was food available in the kitchen for breakfast so in the mornings you can make toast etc (bread etc is all provided). The room itself was perfect for my needs and spotless with nice little touches such as spare towels and pillows stored in the room without needing to ask for them (the shower gel and shampoo was a bonus too as i'd forgotten mine!) I think one of the best parts though was how close the hotel is to the train station - maybe 2 minute walk max but I never heard the trains once! So don't be put off by it!
Cons: It's really difficult to say anything that could have been done better as the hotel was faultless! Initially I was worried that the curtains would be too thin for my liking (as i prefer black out) but I ended up sleeping through all night!
5.4 Okay
Pros: Bedroom was clean
Cons: It should have been a single room as double bed pushed up against wall. No parking either... would not stay there again

Pros: Incredibly clean, friendly staff, no breakfast but a shared kitchen/dining area and a continental breakfast and toast making facilities available. Shower was a really good size, nice and hot, and good pressure.
Cons: Due to the Plymouth Uni Graduation week this stay cost more than twice what I've been paying elsewhere (and that included breakfast), however that is supply and demand I suppose!

10.0 Excellent
Pros: I loved everything,I got engaged to my girlfriend and they made everything so beautiful, thanks again
3.8 Mediocre
Pros: The original building is magnificent.... but don’t be fooled that you’ll be staying in an old room... the rooms are in a newly built ? Newly renovated stable....
Cons: Many things: the pool is not for children under 16...this is not made clear on the website. Beds were uncomfortable, not soft mattress but hard and cheap. TV didn’t work properly, poor lighting in rooms. The First staff member who greeted us was curt, rude and superficial. Cry unwelcoming and snooty. While the halls are great, I’ve never seen cheaper looking picture copies on walls... very strange. Would have been easy to get a replica oil, but these facsimile copies looked cheap and detracted from the otherwise very special interior.

Pros: The room was small but bathroom was spacious and clean . No much choice if you don't like a cooked breakfast , weak/ watery coffee and no other choices apart fom cereals or toast. Staff friendly
10.0 Excellent
Pros: I had a great stay at Alma lodge! I was greeted warmly and shown to my room which was massive (super comfy bed!). Paula asked if I needed any directions or had dinner plans and recommended some great places and gave me a map of the city. It took me 20 mins to walk into town from here. My breakfast was ready at 7.30 as pre arranged the night before. The service again in the morning was really personable and friendly. The lady (unsure of her name but so lovely) also kindly grabbed me an iron for my shirt! I would definately recommend, overall great value for money too. I'm sure I will stay again in the future when I'm next in Plymouth.
Cons: Nothing!

10.0 Excellent
Pros: Very nice and friendly owners, lovely room, superb breakfast.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The hosts Maxine and Chris were excellent. Chris been a Michelin chef in his previous role made us some good breakfast and excellent pancakes. As for the room. My wife and I had the top room which was very spacious plus having a Kingsize bed made all the difference in getting good sleep as I tend to find double beds quite small. The bathroom is next door which was spacious too. No one comes on the top floor so going back and for next door was no issue plus we had our privacy. This B&B used to be a old village school and alot of hard work, lot of thought and passion has gone on making this place an excellent B&B to stay. We stayed for 7 nights and throughly enjoyed it. Hope to be back soon in the future.
Cons: All was great and we had no issues.

10.0 Excellent
Pros: Beautiful and friendly hotel. The staff were very welcoming and helpful throughout our stay. Our room was comfortable and luxurious (and the whole experience was made better with the fantastic array of chickens, peacocks and ducks roaming the grounds).
7.5 Good
Pros: Location
Cons: Menu disappointing as I don't eat meat and Battered fish and scamp and chips only fish options
9.6 Excellent
Pros: lovely hotel within beautiful grounds in good location. room really lovely and comfortable - good food in very nice restaurant, very good breakfast. excellent staff, in fact everything was fantastic and we had a wonderful stay and will try to come back in future. i would fully recommend to everybody as one of the nicest stays i have had.
Cons: needs someone to keep a closer eye on payments made. checking out was a bit embarrassing as i had paid for the evening meal the night before and was presented with an invoice to pay again. i had kept receipts and the staff were great and apologised. was also invoiced online twice for the room, but this was corrected and refunded immediately.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The hotel was great staff great just couldn’t sleep as the peacock on the grounds sat outside our bedroom window and started screeching at 5 am not good
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Dinner was perfect, the menu is extensive and changes regularly. The staff are efficient, articulate and unobtrusively polite. The room was calming and contemporary, loved the themed artwork. The bed was super comfortable and the Egyptian cotton bedding cool and well-pressed. Great branded liquid soap on the sink. The breakfast room was welcoming and the view of the garden and feathered friends was delightful. The croissants were flaky and warm, the omelette fluffy and the Earl Grey leaf tea was the best ☺
Cons: The only slight problem was the lack of complementary toiletries in the shower/bath.
9.2 Excellent
Pros: Our room was very comfortable, ideal for a couple. The quality of both the breakfast and dinner was also excellent.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Great location and comfortable rooms. Good service and nice pub atmosphere
Cons: The menu was a little simple.

Glazebrook House Hotel - South Brent - Building

9.5 Excellent (231 reviews)
Overview Reviews

10.0 Excellent

10.0 Excellent
Pros: Sometimes you find a special place and this has everything, beautiful food, attentive staff, quality and quirky bedrooms. Relaxing and distinctive, we will definitely return.
9.4 Excellent
Pros: Rooms had a quirky themed charm. Staff were extra friendly and extremely helpful both with reference to the hotel and the local area.
Cons: The hotel is excellent for a romantic stay, but probably not suitable for young families.
