10.0 Excellent
Pros: Extra large bed which was very comfy
Cons: Mirror above dressing table needs light above it as in a very dark corner
9.3 Excellent
Pros: Not far from the main road & we’ll sign posted. From the moment we arrived to the moment we left Anna looked after us, remembering our names, our food & drink preferences & was always busy. The bar staff are great, happy & very chatty & the food was great too. Our super king size room was comfortable with everything you would expect as standard & set in a row of ‘stables’ away from the main property. Walk in shower & separate bath. Could park right outside the room. Great location for less able persons, but there is a step up to the rooms. Nice barn door & an area to sit outside. The view across the surrounding area is beautiful & traffic noise low as was any noise from the pub which is small, nicely set out with a conservatory at the front, you can relax & watch the world in slow motion. Caribbean menu with one vegetarian choice, well presented, good portion sizes. Local cider available.
Cons: Overall their wasn’t anything major, this place has great potential, don’t pass it by.

10.0 Excellent
Pros: The property is in a rural location with lovely spacious grounds . The food was excellent .
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Lovely setting next to a lake, great mix of attractive buildings (function rooms being used for various parties whilst we were there and all seemed to be going well plus Tithe Barn looked a stunning venue) and vintage cars and vehicles made for a quirky but welcoming feel. Staff all very genuine and pleasant. Ate in restaurant on Sunday evening and food very impressive - the lamb shank was a triumph! Breakfast also great - cooked to order by the chirpy waitress and chef - a decent portion of scrambled eggs (not often the case these days!). All in all, this place was a really nice surprise - it looked good on paper but in reality it went over and above expectations. Great value for money. Recommended :)
Cons: Can't fault it really!
10.0 Excellent

Cons: Absolutely nothing!
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Great Location and set in extensive grounds of its own. Friendly staff throughout, without exception. Excellent food - both breakfast and evening meal. Comfortable room with good facilities - superb bed!
Cons: Difficult to think of anything, but the access to the breakfast room - which is separate from the main restaurant/bar - could be better / more direct. However, this is a minor criticism and certainly not a big-deal - the breakfast room itself is full of charming character, not to mention the friendly service and delicious food.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Everything!!!
9.5 Excellent
Pros: Everything was amazing. The buildings and surroundings so beautiful and well-kept. The variety of food available from both pub and restaurant of finest quality. I felt so welcome to have my traveling companion -- my amazing Dexter, the wee labradoodle -- with me. Everyone made a fuss of him as he really is lovely and nothing of a nuisance. And last but NOT least, I really loved meeting all the staff and managers: especially Mel, Nicola, Julie, Harry, and the amazing Beth. Thank you so much for being so genuine, so kind, friendly and welcoming. I found the place quite by accident, but will certainly come back!
Cons: There was simply nothing that could have been improved. You check all the boxes!
8.8 Excellent
Pros: There is a personal contact which make you feel at home. Friendly and kind.

Pros: Great comfortable space
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Absolutely fabulous stay. A warm welcome from the owners, even at 10pm! The annexe was a lovely relaxing place to stay. It’s much bigger than appears on the photos online. Although you wouldn’t be able to make meals in the kitchenette it had everything you needed to make a continental breakfast and cups of coffee! The orange juice ,milk, butter, cereals, yoghurts and bread was a lovely addition. Comfy sofa in the lounge area. The bed was also comfy and had lovely bedsheets. Easy to use thermostat for when the place got a bit nippy in the evening. Wouldn’t hesitate to recommend to friends.
Cons: Two small and minor things - the bathroom towels could’ve been softer and it would’ve been nice to have a little hair dryer in the room (although I’m sure if we had asked Katie would’ve let me borrow hers !)
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Good continental breakfast. V clean and comfortable Great location. Would return v happily.
Cons: Some more heating in the sitting room
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Comfortable and self contained. Includes kitchen area with fridge, toaster and microwave. We arrived by bike on the nearby trail, and locked the bikes up in a storage garage. Breakfast you make yourself from the supplied bread, jam, cereals and yogurts. Tea, coffee and milk are also supplied.
Cons: We arrived on a Sunday and found no one in the town was providing dinner. Even the 'open 7 days a week' Indian was closed, maybe because Bangladesh were playing the W'Indies at Taunton in the World Cup the next day. We found the Co-op 10 minutes before it closed, and bought ourselves some ready meals. Thank goodness we had use of a microwave.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Very relaxing and we could come and go as we liked. Parking was easy. Heating was easy to use and we had everything we could need to enjoy our stay.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The studio was great, clean and comfortable, just what we needed for a couple of nights stopover on the way to Cornwall.Friendly hosts and nothing was too much trouble for them . Diy continental style breakfast of cereal and bread means you can get up whenever you please. Nice big shower too. Illminster was such a lovely town too. Great evening meal at Celandines too.
Cons: Everything was just as we wanted!

Pros: The bar area was cosy and welcoming and the restaurant served great food, better than expected.
Cons: We booked a deluxe room but we were disappointed with the decor and furnishings. The bathroom, though adequate in size, was quite average. Nothing deluxe about it. We did see another room across the hallway, the door was ajar, which looked more deluxe with better decor and finishing touches. Also the church over the road had a bell that struck every 15 minutes even throughout the night!

Pros: Owner was lovely
8.0 Excellent
Pros: Lovely idyllic location surrounded by hilly countryside and a little stream running in front of the house. Very Pretty. The cottage gardens are beautiful and worth sitting in to relax. The landlady was very friendly. The room was nice and the breakfast was good. There was also free Wifi. We would recommend this Cottage to Plane spotters, Couples and hikers and anyone who likes natural scenery.
Cons: It was hard to find the cottage as Google maps takes you to the wrong location and the Sat Nave stops halfway down the very bumpy country road. The cottage is hidden and you feel like you are driving into a farm or someone's drive. Maybe a little sign at the beginning of Bagnell drive would help. However we spoke to local people and they were very helpful. It is a friendly part of the world. Also the TV did not work properly in the room and there was no subtitles available and some channels were missing. However if you go to the location and just stay in your room, you are missing out on the beautiful landscape.

Local hotspots such as the Jurassic Coast of Devon and Dorset, Montacute House and the West Somerset Steam Railway are all within an hour's drive away, while back at the hotel you'll be surrounded by 1.5 acres of lawn, overlooking Herne Hill nature reserve! The hotel holds functions mostly on Fridays and Saturday nights, and the noise is heard in some rooms. There are rooms available away from the noise, please check when booking as this may not be guaranteed.
9.3 Excellent
Pros: the breakfast is superb here,we found it by accident a few years ago we use it as our halfway stop to cornwall.
8.0 Excellent
Pros: The location was good, the hotel was good although the room was too warm. The room I was in was on the roadside, which was not explained, it was very noisy and as the room was warm I had to have the windows open to cool down escalating the noise issues. No food in the afternoon before 6pm was unusual especially if you get into the hotel at 4pm and need something other than beer.
Cons: Room too warm, noisy next to the road, no food in the afternoon and stupid showers and sinks.
9.3 Excellent
Pros: very friendly and helpful staff
Cons: The lack of comfortable seating in the bar area and spartan seating for the evening meal.
5.8 Okay
Pros: Good size room, clean, nice breakfast
Cons: Paid for a room with aircon, which turned out to be a fan. Noisy from busy road
7.5 Good
Pros: My room was comfortable and the aircon had been put on before I arrived so the room was really cool. That was a nice touch. Beautiful location - I stared at Herne Hill and could see walkers in the distance. I ordered my evening meal - Liver and bacon and it was delicious plus excellent value £10.95! The bed was very comfortable and the money had been spent on it. Breakfast was the best I had tasted in a long while, especially the large mushrooms. I would highly recommend this hotel The staff are lovely especially the lady who checked me out and also Barbara, who I met briefly as she was coming in to get some info and was not actually on duty.
Cons: everything - especially the food, my air-con room, plenty of parking, the beautiful garden.
9.5 Excellent
Pros: Beautiful room.
Cons: Very warm in the room.
7.5 Good
Pros: Staff excellent, building and bedrooms a little "worn'. Car parking and location excellent, food good
Cons: Bathrooms need updating
9.3 Excellent
Pros: facility is great; clean, modern, well appointed, comfortable bed, nice sheets. I'd stay again because the accommodations were lovely and the location is good.
Cons: Typical British towels that feel like sandpaper. Why can't anyone use a tumble dryer around here? And the staff could use some training on how to be pleasant and more personable, even when busy. It doesn't take much to look up, smile and chat for a second - that makes one feel welcomed. This staff seemed harried and uninterested. Maybe it was just a bad weekend.
6.8 Good
Cons: Lack of attention to detail
10.0 Excellent
Pros: I didn't eat at the Hotel, it was a room only booking, but I have eaten there in the past and the food was excellent. I really like this Hotel, it has many happy memories for me: I used to go there in the 1970's with a Band I knew (they played there regularly). I always promised myself I would go and stay there, but it took about 40 years before I actually did! I have stayed a couple of times since, and would go back when next in the area.
Cons: The view from the room was of the fire escape, but in the past I have had nicer views, over the fields and hills.

6.8 Good
Pros: The staff were friendly and helpful, however at breakfast there was a lot of guests and only one waitress. There was also a shortfall in the number of available tables for the number of guests.
Cons: There was a fair amount of noise from the guests in the adjoining rooms. The room felt stuffy. For £120 per night, I feel it was a lot of money for what we got.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Staff are very friendly and rooms are a good standard.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: I liked the courtyard and the rooms being chalet style instead of hotel style.
8.0 Excellent
Pros: The staff are the best thing here. They could not be more helpful and friendly. We were really impressed.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Cosy room
Cons: Nil
7.5 Good
Cons: Breakfast could of been better and didn't get toast till after finished breakfast. Paid for evening meal steak bit tough limited deserts were ran out . Fire alarm out side room was going off for 2hrs
8.8 Excellent
Pros: Staff went above and beyond
7.0 Good
Pros: The room, the outside table and chairs and plenty of parking plus easy to find.
Cons: Breakfast was self service buffet, both mornings we had to wait for bacon and eggs, in fairness some of the other guests consumed all the English breakfast they could get. The bar was closed on bank holiday Sunday evening so no drinks or food for us. No warning/mention from the staff at Sunday breakfast or any signs informing the bar and kitchen would be closed. First night the menu was restricted, no steaks, no pies basically just pizza, gammon or fish and chips - poor.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Lovely welcome .... very relaxed what is not to like a beer garden outside your front door .
Cons: N/a
3.0 Mediocre
Pros: Nothing
Cons: Everything. Bed linen and towels were stained. Towels were small and child size. No fridge if needed and only enough milk for 1 cup of tea each and had to ask first thing in the morning for some milk to have a cup of tea. Room had spiders too. This wasn't the room that was advertised. Breakfast was definitely not up to standard, No real choice of breakfast cereals , no croissoints only greasy breakfast which i tried to eat, and toast with rock hard butter.
