friendly service and comfortable atmosphere
location and friendliness of staff very good breakfast rather small room
friendly staff, comfortable, nice clean room. great view, excellant breakfast
I enjoyed the food and friendly staff the room was nice and warm being we booked for winter. none
Very pleasant, staff very helpful and friendly. bathroom probably needs some regrouting looks a bit tired.
secure family run atmosphere a group of people coming back after drinking, which were very noisy at about 2am.
Excellent staff, brilliantly run family hotel
Location and free parking made it ideal for our weekend. The cleanliness and comfort were first class. The staff were extremely pleasant and the food served was smashing. We would definately go again.
Staff were really friendly and helpful, had good local knowledge and made us feel at ease None
Friendly and accommodating staff, nothing was too much trouble. The evening menu is good.
The hotel was lovely, very unique and quirky! None
The room was nicely done and comfortable
Excellent friendly staff, beautifully kept hotel.
The "nothing is too much trouble" outlook of the staff, the quality of the decor and the location (good access to the main features of southsea)
Service of staff was very personalised and their attention to detail was very obvious. Everyone was really friendly and the room very comfortable. No bad points although the bathroom was small.
Comportable, friendly atmosphere. Good breakfast. Lacked lounge/sitting area to enjoy others company and have a drink.Seemed very late completion of daily cleaning/bed making.
Each room was extremely tastefully decorated in a beautiful style. The staff were extremely helpful and friendly.
The staff were very helpful and the rooms, breakfast were to a very high standard. I would have really liked to be able to have my evening meal at the hotel.
The service provided by Ele whilst we were there was outstandingly good, the room was immaculately presented and the bedding and towels were of a high standard. Please pass on our thanks to Ele. The only minor complaint would be the lack of adequate pressure to the hot water supply to the bath in Room 7 - it takes over half hour to fill to around 6 inches deep.
Confortable Bed, good shower No Mirror near a plug
Good price for 3 of us and we could take our labrador with us. Didn't like the glass door into the on-suite. Noise transferrance from other rooms.
The rooms we're amazing. Comfortable and cosy. With great facilities. I have no complaints at all.
Excellent continental breakfast served in a very pleasant dining room (accross the road in Florence House - Somerset House doesn't have either a reception or dining room). Comfortable beds We were give a large ground floor room with a huge bed and large bathroom. In spite of the size of the bathroom there was no bath and the toilet was was in a seperate microscopic cubby hole (I couldn't sit down on the loo and close the door!) We requested a move to another room after the first night and although this was much smaller it was very comfortable. The reality is that both Somerset House and Florence house are little more than glorified B&Bs and at £120/night are over priced.
The service was terrific. It was nice and quiet (always a plus.) And the breakfast was stellar. Additionally, it was nice to have a place to park our Land Rover Behemoth. I'd recommend adding a small table to the room - we had to snag the occasional table from the hallway to have somewhere to put our laptop. And more space to put things in the washroom would not go amiss.
The family (2 adults, 3 children - 9, 9, 7) shared two rooms during our stay - both beautifully furnished yet with their own distinct style. Attention to detail was marked and the children loved the range of quality conserves available at breakfast. The beds could well be the most comfortable we've ever slept in. Evidently 'boutique' can still be child friendly. Wonderful Sharpen your parallel parking skills - the roads around the hotel can be rather narrow and finding a space a little tricky
Fabulous room, friendly staff.
No good points as we refused the small room with two chairs so called a suite Manager agreed with us to find alternative accomadation. then charged us the full amount for the room £120.00......very disapointed !!
Friendly and helpful staff. Luxurious and large bedroom.
The rooms were very attractive, very individual and well appointed. Greeting on arrival was somewhat muted. We didn't realise that we would be staying in the 'annexe' - it didn't matter in the end but would have been nice to be told earlier than when walking across the street. Bathroom a bit small-shower was good.
The hotel is situated in a good position. It was bright and clean and the breakfast was good. We arrived at 2pm as stated on the internet but in reception it says check in 3pm. We did not want feather pillows as we had requested. This was not done till we checked into the hotel. The grouting on the bathroom floor kept coming off as we walked.
Very Friendly and courteous staff. Excellent Breakfast. Felt the room was a bit small.
the room we had was very spacious and nicely furnished shower leaked and fittings were poor. Toilet was very small & cold! door to our room was not very secure + large gap so anyone could see through.
Friendliness of staff, cleanliness of hotel and good choice of breakfast. Having parking capacity helps as hotel is situated in small backstreets just of the main promenade and space is restricted. The standard double room is on the small side and more what you'd expect in a B&B establishment (although it was clean and well furnished). The sink in the en-suite bathroom was tiny and difficult to use.
Staff were polite, helpful and had good knowledge of surrounding area. Rooms were bright and airey with good decor and en-suite. Rooms were made to look bigger on the website than they actually were. No indication of when the rooms were going to be cleaned was given until they actually wanted to clean them.
Very friendly staff and exellent breakfast
It was clean, decorated very nicely, quiet, smelt nice and parking was easy. I would rather have had the breakfast facilities in our part of the building - had the weather been awful it would have been not very nice to cross over to the other building for breakfast. There was no hotel information in our part of the hotel either.
the room and attention to detail the location needs to be on the seafront and is wasted where it is
A very nice small hotel, excellent service, excellent room Some fittings in the bathroom were not working, but the hotel did point these out, Very disapointed to find no coffee/tea facilities in room, very poor for a hotel charging such high rates.
Everything was excellant apart from the price Too pricey for the location
The large bath set in the floor of the room was lovely and so was the breakfast. I had a wonderful rest to be ready for a very important day's business in Portsmouth.
Comfort, peace and quite and very friendly staff. Not having a restuarant.
The service They change the soap each day even though it is not all used.
The room was beautiful, the spa bath was a lovely luxury, and the staff were very friendly! No in-room coffee/tea making facilities. It was possible to get it with room service but that would cost. After paying £150 a night, i thought it a bit much to be charged extra for a cuppa in the room!
Excellent, lovely, cosy hotel. Nice room, very warm atmospere. Very difficult to find, no elevator.
Lovley personal service run by 2 top people
Our room was very nice - comfy bed, great shower, lovely furnishings. Location was odd - residential with very little parking and few nearby restaurants; our room was at the top of four flights of stairs, the staff offered several times to assist with bags so it is not a big problem but something to be aware of.
