I was so suprised and thrilled that we selectresd this hotel. It is a wonderful place and even has a Spa, the staff are exceptional, food excellent and unexpected for an all inlcusive. The room was tasteful, very comfy bed and the view of the blue water a treat....can't wait to go back. if you are unsure....pick Waves, you will not be dissappointed.
The sunny island, supper staff, best food and supper service, enjoy !!!
My husband and I stayed at this resort recently and loved the staff and especially how they did the registration when we arrived. They gave us a drink and basically took us to our room...we have never experienced that before. The room we were in, wow. It was a suite and the living room had only three walls so one of the walls was open but the bedroom was air conditioned. This was the most romantic room we have ever stayed in. At night, we would sit and relax with a drink in our room but it was like we were sitting outside, with complete privacy. The Spa was amazing. We luv to work out and they had great equipment and a gym set up that not a lot of people were using. I did get a massage as well which was very relaxing. We also did the turtle swim which I highly recommend. Everything was included so this worked really well for us. We can't wait to go back and try one of the other Almond Hotels!
The front desk/office staff friendly & polite, however the staff workers - the woman to be specific, were just the opposite. My husband and I travel quite a bit, and I've never met more impolite, hostile, rude staff workers. The standard room was very small to the point of uncomfortable but clean. The beachfront is unaccessible to guest to use for swimming, must walk down some ways for beach access. The restaurant food was average sort of bland, surely nothing to rave about. We were unable to secure reservations at the 2 other restaurants on location and at the sister hotel Almond Beach Village for dinner. The one restaurant ALWAYS available is mostly buffet style meals. Not at all what I expected. Beware the All-Inclusive has many exceptions and they push activities and tours on the guest which are pricey.
Great place to relax for peace and quiet. No kids. The staff was very friendly and acommodating
My friend and I booked this trip for a relaxing, uneventful, quiet vacation after some rough times at work and in life. We picked it because it's all inclusive and adult only. Needless to say, we had a fabulous time! From sleeping oceanside in the middle of the day then waking up for afternoon tea, to taking the Rum and Island tour, boat rides and snorkeling trips for relatively little or no money since all water sports were included in the price of the room. The hotel staff was fanastic by making sure to give us good tips on things to do around the island and always engaged in meaningful, genuine conversation. Our room was way more than we expected since it had a living room and a separate bedroom and a whirlpool tub with a shower. We definitely want to go again to experience some of the island's festivals in the future but it will not be soon enough.
We stayed at the all inclusive for our honeymoon and could have been any happier. The hotel's food, amenities and location were all great to the point that we look forward to staying there again. You can pay more but that does not mean that you will get more. Also, the staff and the facility managed well. As travelers we are always looking for places that allow us unwind and be tourist and we do not quibble over small things.
Just returned from a wonderful week at the Almond Beach Club. The accomodations were great, the ocean was a stone throw from our balcony, and the bar was just around the corner from the room. The margarittas were fantastic. We love the water and the snorkling was excellent with a reef and two ship wrecks within an easy swim from the Club. The service was fair, but some of the workers took the time to learn our names and shared our experiences on a daily basis. The kitchen staff went out of there way to provide us with picnic lunches for our excursions. Meet alot of interesting people and made a lot of new friends. We were meet at the airport by an employee of the tour guide service. She had arranged transportation to the Almond and later meet with us to book our outings for the week. Everyone was on time and the trips were a lot of fun. I did feel like we were stiffed a couple of times by the locals. On one trip we stopped for lunch at a local roadside dinner and the prices were not clearly posted. The cost was to much for what we ate. There were no bargans when shopping for items to bring home. The locals were very kind and helpful when traveling around the island. We never felt anxious or uneasy when shopping. It was a wonderful week and I will return.
The view, food and friendliness of staff Bed comfortable but quality of the room poor. Furniture tired. We were able to open patio doors but there was no proper balcony which we had paid for. The bathroom needed a complete refurbishment. The best part was the location with wonderful sea views.
We visited this past week.Hotel was at 50% capacity. The service was great.Room was a suite ,pool side .No troubl se getting reservations at sister hotel ,Almond bay village. Best ever Italian food and attentive service.Enids restaurant prepares island food, the best soups we ever tasted. The 100 yard beach is the only downside, full of rocks and coral.Walk 500 yards to a lovely beach on clear, calm water. Wait staff put on a fashion show in bathing suits, they were great. All adults only guests mostly from UK and Canada.Very friendly.Book a private island tour on your own $105.00 US for 3 hours.
Tamarind is located on the fashionable West Coast of Barbados. It has a lovely beach with good facilities. The property is in excellent condition with nicely decorated rooms and up-to-date bathrooms. The restaurants serve a variety of well-prepared foods. There are three pools, but these are a bit small. The staff is very attentive and friendly. Overall, a superior choice among many good hotels in Barbados.
Our stay was Sept 19-23 2012. We stayed in room 337. Upon pulling up to the property I was not impressed. From the outside it looks a little raggedy. The inside looks much better than the outside! Check-in was easy, they offer a welcome Rum punch and a cold towel to cool you down(mine smelled weird so I didnt use it). The room was wonderful. It looks as if the room was renovated but you can tell overall it is an older building. No elevator. The room was a nice size, nice size bed, large balcony overlooking the pool area. Great space to sit out. The bathroom was a decent size, I didnt really understand the tub/shower door (when you take a shower water goes everywhere.) The included water sports were a great addition! Water skiing was fun! The included breakfast was also great. Some of the food changed everyday but for the most part they always had the omelet station, fruit, pancakes, bacon/sausage and breads/pastries. Wonderful way to start the day off! I just wish breakfast started earlier and ended later. The business center and fitness facility were great and we did put those to use. The managers cocktail hour on Wednesday was fun, great finger foods and delicious drinks! Everyone on staff at this hotel is super friendly and always willing to help.(almost to the point of irritation). Overall very nice stay, very friendly staff, good food...and good fun!
My wife and I stayed here May 2009. We upgraded to an ocean front deluxe room but probably should have saved the money. Rooms are not any bigger than the standard, the view is better, just make sure that you get a second or third floor room. The bushes on the bottom floor block everything. We had problems with the bathroom electrical outlet, the cold water knob in the shower/tub was very hard to turn and the hot water did not regulate correctly. The shower Water pressure was very low. Also, there was a very bad smell in one of the closets (something rotted). The electrical outlet was fixed on our third night but the water regulation was not fixed, even after talking to the manager. The reception staff in the lobby are very unfriendly and always on the offensive. Service in the restraunts is very slow expect to be there 2 to 3 hours. One night people were sitting for hours and were never served because of a staffing issue. People complained and recieved free drinks. We went somewhere else to eat. The beach area in front of hotel is small but bigger than other hotels on the west coast. Beach area is not very clean, cigarette butts everywhere. Beach water is beautiful and there is some corral there for snorkeling and seeing some fish. Beach vendors are a constant bother from morning until evening. The only good thing is that you can walk a short distance down the beach and swim with the sea turtles in front of St. James. The west coast is very hot and there is no breeze. We would not stay here again. Recommend staying towards the southern end of the island at the Crane or Hilton.
The newly renovated hotel is just perfect. The rooms are spacious and very clean and comfortable. The bar and restaurant areas are also great, and the food was spectacular. For anyone traveling with teens, this is the only place to stay. The teen club was so cool, I wanted to stay in there and hang out. The level of service and attention was out of this world. They really make everyone who checks in feel like a VIP with the service, friendliness and extra specials in the room. I recommend this to anyone- single travelers, family, couples. The beach was beautiful and it is right next door to Daphne's restaurant and The House (which is also amazing). If you stay here, you will have an amazing vacation.
We just got back from Tamarind after a 7 day stay. Firstly, the grounds are amazing and the entire staff were very friendly. I gave this a 4 because the room was nice , but the shower doors were a little funky and we would end up with a huge puddle on the floor. The breakfast bar was great. Lots to choose from. Was not too crazy about the lunch menu, not a lot of choices, plus had fish on two occasions and it was extremely salt . Also lots off birds show up at breafast, not a fan. Nice beach. Clean rooms. The duvet was a nice touch and the bed was very comfortable .
The location was perfect, overlooking a beautiful beach with plenty of nearby bars and restaurants. The room was very clean and well maintained throughout our stay. The staff was friendly and fast to help with any needs. The food was excellent, with a wide variety of menu choices throughout the week. When visiting Barbados next time, I will definitely stay at Tamarind Cove again.
We celebrated our 25th wedding anniversary in Barbados. We arrived on Monday June 2, 2008 and fell in love with the Island and with our hotel the Sugar Cane Club. We were able to stay in a one bedroom with small kitchen and living room for the price of most hotel rooms. The room was clean and comfortable. The staff was pleasant and the weather was great. We did not rent a car I was concerned with driving on the left side and the narrow roads in Barbados. Next time I will rent a car. The staff was very helpful. They drove us to town several times. We were able to buy groceries and one day we rode the public bus to Bathsheba. If you go to Barbados make sure you see the beach at Bathsheba it is awesome. The bus ride was $1.50 bds (75 cents US dollars). My wife didn't want to come home. The pool area and grounds are beautiful. Flowering trees and plants everywhere. The sunsets are spectacular. The hotel is not on the beach but you can see the ocean from the restaurant. My wife enjoyed the spa onsite. It was a good vacation.
Stayed for business, but would go back again on a personal trip as well. Great property, great staff, tucked up in the hills of NWest Barbados. Views of the ocean from your balcony. Rooms are very spacious and a really good value. Serene. Little kitchenettes are perfect for breakfast and lunch. Staff is very friendly, our stay here was more like visiting friends. Very casual, very comfortable. Property is in the midst of completeing a nature walk through the grounds that will be fantastic. But in the meantime, they have a complete gym and racquetball court. And a cute little art gallery if you want to buy some local paintings. Recommend renting a car as property is close to the highway so it is easy to get around the island without having to get stuck in W.Coast/Bridgetown traffic.Easy drive to great local restaurants.
The Sugar Cane Club sits on a hill overlooking a grove of royal poinciana trees and the Atlantic Ocean. The beach and Speightstown are too far too walk, but there is a free shuttle every two hours during the day. The hour-glass shaped pool is long enough for lap swimming, and a kiddie pool keeps little children who want to splash out of the way of adults who want to swim The ''rooms'' are actually small apartments. They are newly and tastefully refinished. The kitchen is well laid out and has a full-size refrrigerator and both a range and a microwave. I thought the restaurant was overpriced, so we cooked all but 2 of our meals. The Sugar Cane Club's shuttle picked us and our groceries up at the super market in Speightstown. The weekly manager's cocktail party is a great time to get to know the owner/manager and one's fellow guests. Natalia, the daytime desk clerk, is patient, helpful, and knowledgeable. Fitness room is the best I have ever seen: everything works!
Excellent hotel for a quiet, relaxing stay. Good for reading and pool and a base for exploring the north end of the island. It is a long way from anything but not really remote. They have a shuttle service to the mile away beach and small town.
loved the resort, small and personalized attention. I wish we could have stayed for 2 weeks = great place to relax. We had an ocean front room and spent so much time sucking up the view and the drinks!!!!! Be sure to take the yellow bus into town for the experience. We will be back every year. We loved all the restaurant staff. Even though there was room service throughout the day they need it late night or some kind of snack bar for late nighters! Loved our stay.
I have traveled all over the world practically, this was my first time ever traveling down to barbados and i have to say,me and my girlfriend wanted to just get away from all our problems, hurricanes, and just ever day of life. We had a time of our lives, we've been to aruba, cancun, peurto rico, all the virgin islands, nassau, and pretty much all of mexico. This was the best vacation that i've ever experienced.the entertainment and atmosphere was outstanding. This was my first time ever doing a vacation all enclusive. The sunsets from our balcony each day is breath taking,I asked my girlfriend on the beach to marry me.The atmosphere couldn't have been any better.I strongly reccommed crystal cove
we chose this location for our honeymoon and wanted a destination neither of us have traveled to in the past. the staff was very friendly and do work better when tipped. we only encountered two staff members who were rude, the rest were extremely nice. you are very pampered and they are very accomodating. there was a distinct difference in the way that we were treated (as americans) and the way the british were treated. it wasn't rude, but a definite difference in mannerism by both staff and other vacationers. we were informed by one member of staff that americans make the them work hard and were obnoxious. the rooms were very clean, air conditioning worked well, you could always find something that you liked on the menu, the beer is nothing special, the wine leaves a bit to be desired, the island drinks will get you were you need to be if you ask for extra rum, and bring an insulated mug to go to the beach or pool to cut down on trips to the bar. bring 'aqua socks' for the ocean it is littered with rocks that will tear your feet up if you are an ocean dweller. the sister hotels nearby are not all inclusive, but the on on the opposite side of the island is. definitely take the included tubing ride.... you will not regret it. take a cab to the resort from the airport, $30-40 US. take advantage of all ammenities.
This is nice resort but I would rate it 3 stars and not more. The service was good but very very slow. Keep in mind that in Barbados there are no private beaches. Security guards were there all the time which makes you feel better. The locals didn’t bother us, they were trying to offer all kinds of stuff to buy. Very nice people, they make you feel very comfortable. The variety of food is very limited if you compare to other all-inclusive resorts, not impressed at all. Birds are eating your food at the restaurant all the time, so don’t leave your plate if you are not at the table. This is a huge discomfort, not to mention hygiene. Kid’s friendly resort I have to say. Yes, we had a nice time, but for that amount of money I would get much better service in other resorts or other islands. If you willing to dine outside of the resort and have a lovely, elegant evening, try “ Cliff” Restaurant ,not far from the resort. Probably 5 min drive by taxi. It is very expensive but you will absolutely enjoy it. If you see a monkey running around at the resort, especially early morning don’t be alarmed or surprised. They come to get mango's from the trees . Overall not bad, but I don’t think I would stay again, at least not for the money I paid. p.s. Locals love to get into water and eat mango while they cool off. As they said, the salty water gives a better flavor to sweet mango….Enjoy!
upon arrival our room was not ready, this was because the people 'checked out' and left all their things still in the room, but we were asked to sit in reception (which has the most amazing view) feed room service at the pool and served rum punch which made up for it all!! the rooms was beyond great, the beach beautiful and clean, the water sports are typical but the staff makes it worth it. the staff is great. friendly and very knowledgeable about everything! the food for breakfast was standard, but dinner was wonderful!! great selection, beautiful presentation, and tasted like a 4 star restaurant. we will definitely be staying here again!
I had an absolutely wonderful stay at Crystal Cove. The staff is amazingly friendly and helpful, the three pools are wonderful, and the beach is breath-taking. I can not say enough great things about the hotel and my stay there. The drinks were good, the food was good, and the whole vacations was great!!!!! I recommend this hotel highly!
I've been to other island and hotels, and by far this was the best vacation I've ever had. The hotel was beautiful, the rooms was clean and well maintained. The staff was wonderful. I enjoyed the beach and the services provided. This was a very classy hotel, I will make this my only choice when visiting Barbados. Barbados is a Beautiflu country. I loved it.
Hotel is good for couples who are looking for a quiet place. Food was ok. Inclusive is not like I imagine it to be. They have set time for lunch and dinner and it is basically a sit down dinner and lunch is very limited food at the drifter resturant. Breakfast was a buffet, loved the breakfast. Beach water was too rough, definitely not for kids. One day the waters were calm when we were there. You need water shoes because of rocks. Nothing around the hotel as far as gift shops or local restaurant. But you will find the local “pharmacy” on the corner street if you know what I mean ;). AS I mention hotel ok for quiet couples. Free water sports for guest. Jet ski you have to rent. Many small sugar ants in bathroom but we lived with it. Water pressure was good. I will go back to Barbados but will stay at another hotel.
My husband and I just returned from our 6 night stay at Crystal Cove. We were sad to leave and look forward to going back again. We loved the room, the garden/ocean view, food, service and the beach. We really wanted to kick back and relax during our trip and this place was great for that. We did take advantage of the gym, tennis courts and some of the water sports too. We definitely recommend Crystal Cove to those considering a trip to Barbados.
I took my daughter to this resort to celebrate her 30th birthday. It was a quaint little resort tucked away for relaxation and solitude. The bus is outside the front door. The resort provides free shuttle service to Bridgetown. The food was very good but we found the drinks lacking and the bar tenders very unfriendly. The beach is lovely although the last 3 days the water was so rough there were no water activities. The resort itself is very clean but we felt it looked a little tired and needed a face lift. It was a pleasant week and we would definitely revisit this resort.
This was a great resort with a great location. We honeymooned here in May, and could not have been happier with Crystal Cove. The people were lovely, the food was really terrific, and the water was wonderful. If we ever go back to Barbados (which we hope to), we'll definitely stay here again. We got the ocean view and room and were very pleased with that choice. Make sure to take advantage of the kayaks, and wind surfing that they have on site.
Not a lot of activities during the day and need to improve on entertainment at night.
Friendly service. Clean rooms. Management upgraded our room but was reluctant to assist us in finding reservation for New Year's eve outside of the hotel which held its own event. With a little effort we secured a reservation at Champers on our own. Friendly staff but not always the most competent. Clean rooms but the windows are missing mosquito screens which are absolutely necessary. Internet extremely slow and the signal rarely reached the room. In summary, 5 star prices for 3.5 star quality.
