Breakfast was pretty good and available at 6:00am which was very important to us. They had fresh chocolate chip cookies and flavored ice water in the afternoon while we were checking in. The room was clean and the air conditioner worked well.
We were on the bottom floor and the rooms are right next to the laundry so it is really hot in the hallway going to your room. In addition, we had to run the air conditioner constantly due to the heat produced from the hallway.
Staff was best I have encountered in years--friendly, helpful, went out of their way to make our stay great. Good breakfast. Room very nice and clean.
The staff was really nice and attentive. It was cool that even though we chose not to have our room made up between nights they left a little basket of more towels and toiletries.
The hotel staff was amazing! They even opened the pool early for us so that we could get in a swim before our checkout :) Breakfast was yummy and well stocked. Would definitely stay here again.
proximity to town, breakfast
not enough tables to sit down for breakfast
Great location, staff was courteous and knowledgeable about the local food and attractions, ample parking
breakfast was standard 'hotel' breakfast, not that it was bad just nothing special
Price and fire place in our room!
Only thing that I didn't enjoy was the loud train location.
Went for a 2 night stay for late fall viewing which was perfect. Read the reviews of the basic hotels along the highway and decided on the Hampton because it was newer and a little closer to downtown. Yes, it’s on the Highway into town, yes the train tracks are out back but road noise was minimal and never heard a train. Only the children running in the room above us was heard. The place is clean, well maintained and friendly as others have stated. At check in, we were already upgraded to a Suite – hadn't asked for it, was kinda looking forward to a King Standard room w/fireplace but decided to take it. Room was great, good layout, lots of light, clean and didn’t smell of old room or like a Febreeze bomb had been set off. Bed was a little hard for two nights, (preference) and the pillows very flat and small. Biggest gripe – no fan in the bathroom, face it, some things that come out of you need to be vented – the lack of a fan made for a couple of “unpleasant” time periods till the room cleared. And, you can hear the room next door very well through the vent that is there. Be very aware of the song your singing in the shower, or the conversation you have on the throne…someone is listening Mike... The walking path behind the place gets you to town in about 15 minutes and is very pretty. Driving access to the highway, getting on and off, out front was never an issue even with no traffic light. Hot cookies every afternoon, along with cider, fruit, fresh 24hr coffee a nice touch. Workers all looked young, Im 50 so to me, they looked in their 20’s but all were polite and helpful and attentive, the fact they acknowledge you as you walk by is a big plus. The hot breakfast is a step above most, but still heavy on the carbs and breads and was well stocked even at 10:35 when I finally dragged myself down the hall. I’d for sure stay again and recommend it. But Id bring my air freshener for the bathroom…
Location works best for us. Good breakfast buffes.
The staff was very helpful and provided a lot of good info about the surrounding area
The shower area in the bathroom. The control was hard to use, the seat mounted on the wall fell down and wasn't trustworthy, and water wound up all over the floor
Close to downtown, but not in the cingestion Nd hub bub of traffic.
Lobby was on the second floor, therefore on the main entrance you walked into a unimpressive foyer that led directly to rooms. Our room was directly beneath the lobby, you could hear everyone walking above.
The breakfast was outstanding as was the service in the breakfast area. Each of the staff persons I encountered had a smile on his/her face and seemed genuinely interested in my having a good experience.
The first room they gave us was a handicapped room. We didn't need a handicapped room. I made reservations several weeks in advance and nothing was mentioned about us getting the handicapped room. When we asked to be changed we were told there was no other room so we stayed in this room. At 6am we started hearing major noise above us. Once we got up and got dressed we realized we were below the breakfast area and the noise was the chairs at the tables being pulled in and out by the people eating breakfast. We asked to be moved again and this time we got to move. The staff wasn't too bad but the whole experience didn't set well with us at all. The surrounding location of this hotel wasn't very good either. Next door was a junky place that you couldn't avoid seeing whenever you went out. There are no grounds to speak of. It was pretty clean though so that was a plus. I just wouldn't want to stay here again though and I'm sorry to have to say that.
We stayed with my three small children for one night. We chose the family suite with 2 kings and a sleeper couch. We were all comfortable and snuggled in, but when I reserved the place I forgot about the trains. The train blew it's horn right outside our room at 3 am and my husband couldn't sleep the rest of the night. I would recommend asking for a room that does not face the railroad line. In the morning, the clouds and rainbow against the mountain made up for the interruption. The continental breakfast is great, with fresh waffles, scrambled eggs and bacon. We grabbed a bite to eat at 6:30 am and rushed out for the Hot Air Balloon Rodeo. We returned before the breakfast area closed and had brunch before we checked out. Kudos to the hostess maintaining the breakfast area - she was very tidy and made sure the hot food was always stocked. I would definitely consider staying here again, but will request the highway side of the hotel.
Super clean (I love clean bedspreads!) very friendly staff, quiet, great hot breakfast, and a great location. Closer to Steamboat Springs than most of the other hotels. Manager Chris is really cool and nice, too. Make sure you go to Strawberry Park Hot Springs. They are awesome!
The staff was extremely helpful and made our stay awesome. Close to the mountain and the free shuttle the hotel offers to and from the mountain whenever you want to go was great. The room we had was spacious, clean and had all the extras that are nice when traveling- Free wireless internet, flat screen TV's with all the channels and pay per view movies, Small Refrigerator, Microwave, housekeeping replenished towels, soap and shampoo daily and kept the room clean. The free breakfast in the morning was nice as well. Next time we are in Steamboat to ski this is where we will stay!
We have stayed at many Hampton Inns around the country and generally find them to be quite nice with a good breakfast and great for the family-not so in Steamboat Springs. First of all, no where on the internet hotel details does it say that there are train tracks running paralell (about 50 yards away) from the hotel. Twice a night while we tried to sleep it felt and sounded like the train was coming right thru our room-very, very, very loud and annoying. The hotel seemed to be very understaffed with generally unhelpful and disinterested front desk help. The continental breakfast was the worst that we have had-not kept full and the selection and variety was terrible. It was a weekend and due to the fact the the fields are right behind the hotel we were inundated with lots of roudy, rude little lacrosse boys and their chaperones. They cleaned out the breakfast, took over the pool and lobby computer and ran up and down the halls till late making loud noises. The room was ok and the bed fairly comfortable but the maid had to be reminded to come back and empty the trash cans. Sorry to say we will go down the road to a quieter hotel further from the train tracks next time that we are in Steamboat Springs.
We ended up at the Hampton for the final night of a long weekend after 2 miserable nights at a different hotel - wish we would have booked here in the first place. We stayed in a suite with a king size bed, and because of our situation the front desk allowed us to check in early. They made every effort to accomodate us, even calling after we were in our room to make sure we were comfortable. The Hampton bed 'experience' is really everything they make it up to be - I was actually disappointed to be going home to my own bed! Highly recommend it to anyone, and this Hampton is in a very convenient location in Steamboat Springs.
