10.0 Excellent
Pros: Just returned from an exceptional stay at Dove Meadow. We stayed in the chalet as a family of four and found it immaculate, spacious, and near perfect. Beautiful location & fantastic for a trip to Alton Towers. The chalet itself was immaculate and well equipped, with fresh milk/juice, toiletries, and even games, dvds and books. The small details and thought put into the accommodation definitely added to the stay. The breakfast was superb and we would fully recommend Dove Meadow to anyone. We will definitely return.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The bed extra comfy
10.0 Excellent
Pros: We rented the chalet and a double room. The chalet was charming and a delight. We took advantage of the small area outfront for the summer evenings, relaxing out there after a long day of sightseeing. It was great and very idyllic with beautiful nature all around. The double room was only used to sleep the two people of our party that would not fit in the four person charlet, but the beds were very comfortable and the room very nice. Breakfast was cooked by John after asking what we would like and it was both delicious and had a great field of options. We felt so much at home and welcomed by John and Myfanwy that we can only highly recommend anyone to stay there if possible. As it is only a ten minutes drive from Alton Towers the location is perfect for a visit to the theme park. John and Myfanwy were very hospitable and patient people, even with all the questions our kids had about the dog, the cats or just for saying hello. I cannot sing their praises enough.
Cons: You have to own a car to get there. Which might make it difficult for some, but it was not a problem for us.

8.3 Excellent
Pros: 5 minutes driving to Alton Towers. Nice wee village for a walk. Very friendly and helpful owners
Cons: Everything was great. The only negative point is beyond the owners control I suppose, there were a few families which let their children run and play in a crazy way inside the place making so much noise.

Pros: All the extra little additions that you would not normally find in a B&B had been included as standard i.e. USB charging alarm clock.

Shawgate Farm Guest House - Stoke-on-Trent - Building

9.3 Excellent
Pros: Almost everything, the location is deep in the farm which we love it. Fresh air and peaceful. The outlook of the farm house is fantastic. Inside of the public compound and room are really clean and tidy. Toilet and beds are properly clean and managed. Breakfast is tasty and staff are friendly. Cant complain much for the price we paid and if I go Alton Tower again I will stay this place for sure. The beds are comfy and clean as well. Very happy with the stay.
Cons: If really want to pick, I guess it is the sound insulation between rooms and the shower space is too small

Cons: Comfy beds and stunning views

9.3 Excellent
Pros: Overall a fantastic experience, friendly helpful staff and awesome location for the family. The room was spacious and the view was fantastic, we had sheep nearby every morning which made the kids happy. The pub nearby is also cool for relaxing in the evening if you want to have a drink.
Cons: Not much if anything to point out, the breakfast area window furnishings are pealing so perhaps would do with a cosmetic tidy up. however, this does not put any weight on any of the positives.

10.0 Excellent
Pros: Beautiful location with stunning scenery, everybody was very friendly and helpful, room was big enough and comfortable with a huge bathroom. Breakfast was lovely and cooked to order with locally sourced produce. Wish I'd found this place years ago for our frequent visits to Alton Towers which was only a 10 minute drive away. We stayed on the hottest day of the year and a fan was in the room which helped. My sons were playing football in the garden and the host came out and found a goal for them which was a lovely gesture and my sons really appreciated it. Thank you for a fab stay.

10.0 Excellent
Pros: The location was AMAZING! I could see Alton towers from the property, the staff was so lovely! Really lovely couple! Even offered a different breakfast for my other half (because he’s awkward) I felt so much at home there! The whole property is unreal! The garden is amazing! The whole stay was brilliant ! So helpful, menus for taxi numbers, all emergency numbers, menu, even serve alcohol! BONUS. Had all our clean towels, wash stuff, hair dryer, mat for my straighteners, and the lady was even so helpful enough to help me through a drama (women problems) Offered to let us keep our luggage there the next day because we was going the fair and welcomed us to go back afterwards, can’t wait to stay again!!!
Cons: It’s about of a walk to the next pub
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Staff were really friendly. Great value for money. Cant believe how close to Alton towers it is. Will definitely be back.
Cons: Nothing. No complaints at all.
9.3 Excellent
Pros: The owners were very friendly and welcoming! They were also very helpful. I loved having breakfast brought up to us. The room was spotless and very comfy.
Cons: There were not enough towels in the bathroom (my partner likes to use a separate towel for his face). The bathroom was not en-suite as advertised. We did have the bathroom to ourselves but had to go out of the room.
9.5 Excellent
Pros: The place and rooms were absolutely excellent! Beautiful, quaint garden to explore and very close to Alton Towers. Perfect location. Our host was extremely hospitable, many many thanks for having us!
10.0 Excellent
Pros: A beautiful house with parking, 5 min walk to Alton Towers. Breakfast in the bedroom, very clean, managed by a lovely and friendly couple.
9.5 Excellent
Pros: The location was perfect as we were visiting Alton towers and the property is just a few minutes walk from the Park’s entrance which saved us both time and money as we didn’t have to pay for parking or queue up for the Monorail. The room itself had character and was clean. We also couldn’t have asked for better hosts! Both Carol and Gary were lovely and we absolutely enjoyed our time at their place and cant wait to go back to them very soon.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Great location for Alton Towers, the local pub "The Star" is very nice for an evening meal only 20 minutes walk up the road and a15 minutes back down. Through Ivy House is the best guest house I have ever stayed in everything is perfect the owners are most welcoming and helpful, a lovely breakfast served in your room is just right to start your day. Next time I visit Alton Towers I'm sure to book again.
Cons: Nothing
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Amazing location not five minutes walk from walk. Rooms were comfy and homely while feeling completely catered for, hosts could not have been more warm and welcoming.
Cons: Couldn't have takeaway in room which was fine for us as the weather was lovely so we sat outside but may not be ideal year round.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The swallows nest room is just second to none, so beautiful and comfortable. We were welcomed by carol and Terry and they’re just wonderful, nothing is too much for them. I asked about packages for my partners birthday and they didn’t disappoint. The value of the whole experience is worth the money, everything is within distance and the views are next to none as well. Can’t fault a thing and I can’t recommend this enough, worth the three hour drive and I’ll definitely be thinking about booking this again in the near future. Thank you very much! Also a five minute walk to Alton towers if you’re thinking about making a trip.
8.0 Excellent
Pros: Nice, friendly hosts, pretty garden, nice biscuits on tea tray.
Cons: Breakfast underwhelming-don't mind continental breakfast but don't much like this arrangement but main problem was no drink arrived with breakfast; I would have liked a pot of ground coffee and milk for my partner's tea. Problem was exacerbated because of last b and b which was fantastic. Location would be brilliant for Alton Towers; I was looking for Ashbourne and failed to note distance from Ashbourne and direction- so any problem with location is my fault (maybe highlight Alton Towers in description?)

9.5 Excellent
Pros: Lovely family run B&B with a delicious breakfast - hosts couldn't have been nicer. Excellent value for money and would definitely visit again.
Cons: Room (overlooking main road) was incredibly noisy - would be useful to flag in the description that this room is overlooking the road and as such is noisy whereas other rooms (I think) overlook the garden so would have been much quieter.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: It was a lovely building inside and out, and the hosts were the best you could hope to meet, they could not do enough
Cons: N/A
9.5 Excellent
Pros: Bed comfortable. Mixed fresh fruit at breakfast was delicious. Staffordshire oatcakes were a nice change and very tasty, not greasy at all!

9.3 Excellent
Pros: Breakfast choices very good and allowed variety for each morning. When Sue knew I'm following a Slimming World eating plan she offered to prepare whatever I wanted. Breakfast room has garden outlook, very nice room.
Cons: I am not used to traffic noise, it is a fairly busy road outside, but obviously this is not something which Sue & Alan can change. However I adjusted and slept better as each night progressed, the bed was very comfortable.

9.5 Excellent
Pros: Small, stylish and friendly family run hotel in a peaceful location close to Alton towers and other attractions such as water world and monkey farm. We loved the fact that it only had 9 rooms and was safe for children to move about the hotel independently without getting lost. Our grandson particularly enjoyed ordering himself some soft drinks at the bar. The management team were all so lovely.
Cons: The only things I could suggest would be some vegan options on the menus although the management did well without prior knowledge to rustle up a lovely vegan cooked breakfast for me and as snacks some salad wraps and bread buns. A small children's park would be great too.

7.0 Good
Pros: The hotel itself was very nice and cosy. Large bathroom. Good value for money
Cons: Arrived a little early. Young girl working there mentioned: " I have watched you walk up and down for the last 30 minutes and you cant get in till 4" She was very very rude. (Granted later apologised) Secondly: The cleaning staff were already cleaning our room after we came back from breakfast (were due to checkout at/before 10am). Again not 100% happy about this.. especially as there was to be 6 hours before the next check in time. Seemsled that the cleaning staff just wanted to get it all done and finish early maybe??

5.0 Okay
Pros: Friendly host. Same street as my course
Cons: The room was tiny. I had to move the chair to get to the cupboard/wardrobe and put it back again to get out the door. It was smaller than and felt like a prison cell. I was supposed to stay 4 nights but came home early. It was a shared bathroom and the toilet was discussing. I bought some bleach to clean it. The peaches were starting to ferment at breakfast. I left in such a hurry I left my phone charger and a present for my daughter behind £30 worth. I’ve asked them to send them on to me twice and they haven’t
8.0 Excellent

Pros: Pleasant greeting by reception and room very comfortable and quiet . Easy access to dining room with a table for two to celebrate our wedding anniversary. Meal was exceptional, good food and wine . Breakfast well cooked but sadly no salmon or avacado left . All good though .
8.8 Excellent
Pros: Unfortunately having stayed at the hotel previously, my expectations were high. Therefore I was disappointed that there was only one ale available as there had been a wedding the previous day and no sausages available at breakfast until a delivery arrived. The hotel was fully booked and I would have thought that due consideration would have been taken.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Fantastically helpful staff. Great location.
Cons: N/A
7.5 Good
Pros: The location was pretty. The room was spacious and very clean. The breakfast was amazing. The staff were generally friendly and nice.
Cons: The hotel was a little difficult to find, having followed the address on my sat nav , there was still a little way to go before reaching the establishment and it wasn't sign-posted very well. The WiFi in the room was awful and I had to use my own data for the length of my stay. I didn't like the centrally-controlled heating, at times I felt cold, but was reluctant to ask reception to turn up the heating because I knew that I would later be feeling that the room was too warm and didn't want to keep calling reception to change the room temperature. I asked in the afternoon if I should book a place at the restaurant and was told that there was only one booking for that evening so I shouldn't need to do so. However, when I decided to book a table just in case a couple of hours later I was told that the restaurant was fully booked. As a result, I had to have my dinner from the bar menu which didn't have a great deal of choice, and having ordered I had to wait 40 mins for my food to arrive. I wasn't that impressed with the quality of the food either, and was rather disappointed as the restaurant was apparently "award-winning" so I had expected the same standards at the bar. There was only one staff member at Reception who always seemed to be busy, I waited a couple of times to ask a question, but gave up after a while as I didn't have the time to wait.
10.0 Excellent

Pros: The accomodation was excellent. We had a converted outbuilding to ourselves with a choice of bedrooms, a small kitchen, lounge and conservatory. A friendly welcome from Eileen together with a couple of generous slices of cake was a perfect start to the stay at the farm. There was plenty of toiletries, tea, coffee, milk etc and the kitchen was well appointed with immaculate and modern appliances. The owners have got a Labrador puppy named Harper who was absolutely adorable. We would have loved to stay longer and will definitely return to this idyllic and peaceful location with stunning views of the countryside.

7.5 Good
Pros: The location was lovely and would have suited having dogs there. However, the actual location meant it was not clear where would be a safe place to exercise the dogs on arrival.
Cons: Not ideal if you will be arriving late as it seems to be as the owner was in bed asleep when I arrived and could not get into the property very quickly. However, she was very pleasant and helpful. The room was cold but a heater was provided.

10.0 Excellent
Pros: The host Eileen was very friendly and accommodating, she kept in touch even though she was out on my arrival, key left so I could get in. It was also a beautiful location on a working farm.
Cons: Nothing apart from being able to stay longer
10.0 Excellent
Pros: This is a B&B situated on a working farm. The room, came complete with a kitchen and lounge area, which was a lovely surprise to me. It’s only 10 minutes from central Stoke, and also well situated for Crewe and the M6. I used it for business, but it would also make for a delightful couples getaway or a family break.
Cons: The only thing that I didn’t like was the fact I couldn’t stay longer, I found it very peaceful and relaxing.

Pros: Lovely, big spacious family room and completely spotless. Teenage granddaughter in love with bathroom mirror lol Could have done with bedside lamp for the single and perhaps some hot chocolate in the otherwise more than adequate provision for tea and coffee (I could easily have asked but it wasn’t really a problem). Brilliant games room with Xbox and games and a pool table which we used thill midnight lol Food is Thai which my lot can’t do so the owner tried to get us in somewhere else local which I thought was lovely - we had a great meal in the end at another pub five mins walk away. Breakfast was amazing. We will return next year for definite ❣️

Pros: Interesting location in interstice of countryside just between Stoke and Peak District. Just off a private road called Cherry Lane and near to Old Country houses that are now owned by Keir and an Indian restaurant. Would be suitable for a couple who enjoy walking. Atmospheric, even a bit Gothic. Close to Cheadle and you can take a look at Pugin's gem at St. Giles.
Cons: Owner is a dog lover and you have to tolerate the rather unusual nearby canine accommodation.

Pros: The staff were friendly and polite, the breakfast was excellent. The fan in the room was a lifesaver. Lovely dining room with comfy chairs and made to feel welcome on arrival. Was close to the town centre and retail park.
Cons: The bed was uncomfortable, two single beds pushed together. the shower did not not look inviting - the shower was taped up with masking tape and shower head did not look clean or hygienic so did not use this. The light & lamp were far too dim. The room and bathroom needed upgrading.

Pros: This was a confortable B and B.Normslly book into s hotel but this was recommended by a local person.Building in need of redecoration -looking very tired despite its olde worlde appearance.Great breakfasts but would not return because of the three flights of stairs (no lift) and the very grumpy owner,Mike, who barely spoke, never smiled and rarely gave you as much as a Good Morning!!

Cons: I can't say that something
9.5 Excellent
Pros: The Inn was located on a well-used road but we were not bothered by the traffic. The location was wonderful with beautiful views of the surrounding countryside and farmland. We chose it because of the very close proximity to Alton Towers and after a terrific breakfast we drove less than 10 minutes to arrive at the theme park to enjoy a full day of fun before leaving, tired and hungry for the short trip back to the inn for a drink and hot, tasty food.
Cons: The fact that we couldn't stay longer - we had to return for work!

9.5 Excellent
Pros: location good, people are great what fantastic staff, the rooms outside I really like not tried in the main building.
Cons: evening meal was not great and to be fair they siad not to pay. It would appear that big groups come in and that makes things difficult but cannot be sure. last time we staid I had the best meal ever this time not as good so consistancy needs to be worked on.
9.3 Excellent
Pros: Large modern room. Breakfast was excellent, staff friendly.
3.0 Mediocre
Pros: The one chap that greeted when we first arrived was fab... That was the end on the good.
Cons: The room The food
7.5 Good
Pros: good breakfast
Cons: the noise of the swinging fire door under the room in the restaurant only in our room no. 10
8.0 Excellent
Pros: The hotel was very relaxed and friendly , and I felt comfortable being on my own in both the Bar and the restaurant. The staff were really friendly. You could park directly infront of your room.
Cons: There were not enough staff for breakfast. There was only 1 lady , and I waited 15 minutes and still hadn't been approached- (you couldn't even serve yourself a cup of coffee). In the end I had to leave without breakfast or I would have risked being late for work.
8.8 Excellent
Pros: 3 course breakfast was great staff excellent
5.5 Okay
Pros: Location and access was good
Cons: Restaurant was diabolical. Evening layout was worse than a transport cafe, Food presentation was awful - salad was at least 2 days old - limp and dried. Breakfast was no better - I've had far better meals at a transport cafe.
7.5 Good
Pros: Bed very comfy meals excellent in the restaurant
Cons: No bath breakfast ok
8.3 Excellent
Pros: The motel type rooms and the restuarant food was excellent.
Cons: The room was a bit tired and the bathroom had brown towels.
8.3 Excellent
Pros: Excellent traditional English breakfast. We stayed in the Annex (Rooms 1-10). This where the pricing is real value for money . The rooms are well furnished, modern, clean. Presumably subject of recent refurbishment. Brilliant shower. no experience of the rooms in the original part of the hotel. Liked it very much but expectations should be in line with the competitive price.
Cons: It's on a main road but quite isolated so you will need a car if you wish to visit Market Drayton which is a few miles away. The bar/ lounge area is quite small and a pool table is quite an attraction for some of the locals. Do not expect to spend a quiet night in by the fireside in the lounge. Friendly atmosphere helps. We would stay again without hesitation if we are to stay in the area again.
