A beautifully restored 19th century mansion with period furnished rooms, friendly and helpful staff and an excellent cold buffet breakfast. The building is still in the process of being restored and could benefit from wardrobes and easy chairs in the bedrooms. Felt a bit too authentically Victorian at times.
It is conveniently located on the green line. The atmosphere of the rooms are also nice. The staff was very helpful too. the poor breakfast ( i usually drank some tea but skipped the rest)
My son and I enjoyed our stay very much on a trip to visit BU. A nice oasis in Boston, charming bed and breakfast, responsive and friendly staff to our inquiries and made arrangements for a very late arrival. A place that feels of history in charming area of Boston, easy trip downtown on the subway. Will plan to stay there again. No.
The Bed No coffee in the early morning
Well located from a short walking distance from train . This is not a hotel. It should not be in your list of 100 hotels of Boston. It´s a B&B with a poor service( they live at 8pm and return next day at 8am ) and have no tables neither chairs for a poor breakfast. I had a room in the 3rd level and to climb cracking narrow stairs.
Quiet neighborhood, close to the train. The first room was an emergency exit room with big metal exit latches on the door and windows. The exit sign glowed red all night. I moved to a second room. The bed was comfortable, but the shower was very very tiny. There was only enough room to turn around, I couldn't bend down.
Location. Very easy to get in and out of Boston. Value. The price seemed a bit high for what we actually received.
The location was awesome - right by the train and just 15 mins from downtown boston. Close to the beautiful reservoir which is a great place togo for a run/walk. The lock on our door was broken and since we were leaving our computer during the day and since the front door was unlocked from 8am to 8pm we were pretty concerned. We expressed this concern and were told that there was nothing that could be done (no refunds, no room switching, no way to fix the lock). The "solution" we were given was to "hide our computer in a drawer..." I think there was blood on our shower curtain (it looked like a stain and not the fault of the people who clean the rooms). The shower leaked onto the floor. The wallpaper was peeling off all over. Our shower mat had holes in it and was clearly very very old. Breakfast wasn't good - worse than costco pastries.
The staff was very friendly and accommodated my needs in any way they could. The location is excellent, with great pubs and restaurants within a short walk. The green line stop is across the street. It takes just 20-30 mins to reach downtown boston It's an older building without much charm or common facilities (breakfast must be taken standing up)
Location was good - steps from public transportation; good value. Room was clean at check-in, but was never cleaned again after that (only the beds were made and the towels replaced sometimes).
Location near the t is marvelous. All the neighbourhood is also vey nice a very good free internet access either via wifi or via a computer located on 2nd floor The rooms are quite big and bathroom is very convenient Impossible to park overnight without getting a file of 30 us$. It is compulsury to use parking facility of hotel which is very crowded and is an overcost of 20$ per night. You should mention that
Location, convenience, old building, easy and clear check in and out, cleanliness Beds were bit soft for us.
Size of room, location, helpfulness of staff Walking up all those stairs!!
Quaintness and ease to get to Fenway and the Museums It is charming but does need some updates and fix things that need to be fixed.
the desk clircks were very polite, indulgent and helpful the lights did not all work, the TV only two channels did show, during the night no heat, no room for breakfast, reading or lobby, unforgivable : the shower was cold, no hot water ! This is unforgivable in February.
The Inn was just what we were looking for. The room was big and had just about everything we could need (except an iron).
Convenience Locked front door of hotel was joke. Needs complete replacement
The staff was very friendly and the room was huge. The room could be a bit warmer and the people weren't at the reception sometimes.
There was plenty of room in the bedroom. There were 3 beds which were more than the two of us needed, but pretty impressive that all of them were in there and there was plenty of space to move around. The ceiling and stairwell produce a lot of noise due to footsteps. I realize that this often cannot be helped, but it contributed to a harder time getting to sleep.
Freindly staff, good location.
the rooms were huge! i would rather there be service at night
It had a real "homey" feeling. It smelled like my old aunts house in NY. You would think that's a bad thing, but it wasn't. That smell brought back memories. I can't describe it. I didn't like having to get dressed to go to the bathroom across the hall from my room. It wasn't a shared bathroom like in a hostel, but still. Also, they should put a little card with a list of all the viewable cable channels. It was really anoying finding something good on TV and then realizing you dont have the channel.
The location with the commuter rail right outside was fantastic. It was like being able to drop in on a friend's to crash. The room we had (bathroom off the room) was fine. A little unconventional going thru the bathroom to get to the main room. But room was large and nice. The shower experience was terrible. The water temp fluctuated between scalding to cold.
nice place very safe the room the bed the bathroom
