Design, aesthetics, position. The rooms are way too small, no space for your luggage, too small for the money, breakfast is not included and the key-cards fail all the times and you have to swap them at the reception. You have a writing on the rooms' wall saying "You Are Smart"... I would change it in "You Are Small"
very good breakfast buffett... conveniently located near to starting line of midnight sun marathon
Can't complain. It's a bit snug in the room, but if you know what you're getting, it's a great deal for the price, especially in pricey Tromsø. The bed was very comfy and the staff was friendly.
Good location from the airport, nice view, good breakfast!! Nothing
Extremely central and convenient location, nice view. Excellent breakfast, you could find whatever you wanted (even salmon!). Helpful staff. Very expensive for what it offers. It isn't that luxurious so as to justify so high prices, except for the good location. But I guess that's a problem with Norway in general.
Location is fantastic. Ask for a room with a view of the cathedral. Breakfast is excellent. Rooms are nicely designed. Sauna and spa area is very disappointing.
Very good location. Close to the port and all the shops in the center of the city. The hotel rooms have excellent view of the sea.
breakfast location view from the window colours of the hotel it was cold in the room it was not possible to regulate the ventilation system
Although the outside of the hotel didn't look promising, inside it was fine, the room was warm and comfortable and breakfast was great!
What a wonderful hotel. Highly recommended ,special a new dimension business class rooms. Unbelievable beautiful.
Renovated rooms, with nice vieuw over the harbour, comfy bed Room was a bit small
Very friendly staff. Excellent breakfast buffet. Shame that there was no service on sunday in the very beautiful relax/sauna.
For super short one night stay in Stockholm, don't bother with downtown lodging. Take the arlanda express train. 20min you are in town.
Good comfort Nothing
Hotel staff I almost cannot find the toilet paper since it is very close to me. It means, no space in between.
A beautiful hotel on a pier right on the harbor. Wonderful views and a professional staff. An excellent buffet breakfast. Some construction is going on at the piers and it's a bit noisy during the day (completely quiet at night though)
Central and convenient location for city trip and for reaching Tromso port. - very good breakfast - large and panoramic hall and dining facilities Nothing to remark
The comfort of the hotel was very good. Ice machines in the corridors - excellent idea. The buffet breakfast was excellent- plenty of choice and great quality of food. Would have liked spa facilities, especially with view and situation of hotel as very relaxing.
Breakfast was lovely. I was there on business and the hotel was close to where I needed to be.
Breakfast. Rooms are a bit too small for those travelling with children. Maybe a bed sofa is missing
Very good breakfast - large and panoramic spaces for breakfast - confortable location for city trip and arrivals/departures from Tromso port Everything was all right
Location is superb. The lack of certain details such as Kleenex in the room.
Convenient for Tromso stay Curtains in bedroom hang on/over heater which could be a fire hazard
The excellent breakfast buffet. View of the midnight sun and harbour from my room.
Location was superb; breakfast was perfect - wonderful choice; lovely room with very large bed No pool!
We really enjoyed the breakfast and the hot tub and sauna. It was our honeymoon and the hotel gave us a bottle of champagne, very nice thought! I couldnt fault hotel at all, very happy with everything.
Very dissapointed £70 parking fine for parking in hotel carpark realy finnished stay off on sour note. Very small rooms. No chance of getting in hot tub which is a token gesture for a hotel of this size and price. Location semi industrial.
very closed to the city center and was easily accessible of all amenities outside of the hotels were very dirty, untidy. there were cigarettes buts all over the floor. i also did not like outside our rooms there were plenty of new matteress which was quite dangerous, anybody could have tripped and injured themselves.need more cleanliness outside the hotel, and also needs gritting as it was very slippery. i had a near fall.
Great location for exploring the waterfront and city. Visitor Centre, bus station and bus stops within easy walking distance, together with main shopping street. Hotel breakfasts were superb, with an excellent selection of good quality. No hot drink facilities in room.
Comfy bed, close to town/restaurants. Outdoor spa pool on the top floor was an added bonus. Free internet access at reception. Nice to have a Sony Bravia telly, what a shame they used an rf cable to connect it to the wall. Lousy picture - what a waste!!
Friendly staff. Goog location in centre of Tromssa. Wonderful breakfast :-D Price level in Norway is generally high. But when you know it, it doesn't matter. Wi-Fi WLAN could work all the time. Now you have to scratch those 4 hour Telenor coupons.
Great breakfasts & location
breakfast, good service
The room was comfortable, the breakfast great and the rooftop hottub was lots of fun. Even got to see Northern lights from up there! The hotel was crowded and so was the hot tub. Did not get to use it as often as we would have liked too.
Great location for the Centre. SAS Flybus stops at the Radisson which is approx 100 metres away so you can catch the Flybus from the Airport which is only 50NOK instead of using a taxi. Early return to Airport at 5.40am to allow the early return flights. Very Clean, lovely view of the Harbour, Bridge and Mountain. Take your Swimming gear for the Outdoors Jaccuzi! Easy Access to the university, bus 20 and 21.
Good breakfast. Good view from top floor. Good location central but not noisy. Indirect view of midnight sun (could read by sky light at 1 a.m.). I don't think it would be fair not to mention this: the lift/elevator was not working. This was known when they took our booking but we only found out about it on arrival late at night, our room was on the top floor and there was no one to help with bags so we left the bulk of our luggage downstairs. On the second night we were given a much better room two floors lower. We also got a 20% discount for the inconvenience (and lots of exercise).
The beds were very comfortable The internet did not work
Good chairs and beds. Clean and bright room with a clean smell as well.
Location, Cleanliness- the room was spotless, the view from the the front room- you have to pay for that but it worth, the pleasent stuff
Excellent hotel stayed for 2 nights in June 2010. Unfortunately it rained so did'nt see the midnight sun, but the trip was nevertheless fantastic. Expensive country to be in but nature fantastic
Excellent and very friendly staff. Nothing was too much trouble for them. The location could not be better being very central to everything in town. Nothing at all.
free waffle and dinner
Pleasant hotel, great view from the front. Waffle time a bonus with pleasant relaxing area.
free afternoon wafles and sufficient buffet dinner is big plus in expensive Norway, nice place in the same city center the room was rather small and we did not feel very well in hospital style washroom ( everything made for handicap )
Staff were so friendly and helpful. Hotel extremely comfortable and rooms excellent. Food available was beyond expectations. None
The reception staff was very professional and friendly. Great view from the room. Perfect location. Nice light dinner.
Hotel quite cute, well located (ask a room with view on the harbour), nice people, breakfast simple but good. Comfort a little basic (only one hanger - curtains very "light" which is not a "plus" during the midnight sun period...)
Room was clean and breakfast was excellent. Quite far from the central, but not too far if you are by car. Hotel was easy to find. Free wifi and parking, which was nice. Bathroom had a sliding door, which didn't isolate noise/sounds. This is the only negative to say about the hotel room.
The place was real joy... and hotel staff was really helpful Fresh towels should be changed everyday by house keeping..
separate beds like in student hostel, not really like 3 star hotel - 2 star would be more fair
Everything was clean and was not expensve for the money. Far away from the centre, not son many buses during the weekend.
Location and breakfest Dirty respectless workers in elelvator during building untill medio april. The hotel is verry verry used, with cheap fast buildid bathroom interior. And cheap materials used in the whole hotel. Verry dirty curtains in the breakfast room. All workers have cheap mentalety with old coffe mixing and dry cheese slices and dry crust at the marmelade.
Bright, airy room with great view of the harbour. Very clean and comfortable. Very helpful and knowledgeable front office staff.
Conveniently located in downtown Tromso. Good breakfast and nice high ceiling, well lit, eating area. Internet setup was unusual - required a scratch card; smallish room and bathroom
Expensive but thats Norway
this was my second visit to the hotel, I had good memories of my stay, but.... ...hotel is under reconstruction, with consequences for quality of services. shoud be better (or at least back to normal) after 1st of April 2010, till that time it is better to look somewhere else.
Fantastic location for a good price, great views from our room atleast. Completely hassle free with helpful staff
The helpfull staff and a good breakfast.
The location on the water front, with views of the harbour and snow capped hills, is superb. The rooms are well arranged; and the additional bed for child was very comfortable. We had a great time. None, at all.
Great service, fantastic personnel, no carpets on the floor in my room, wonderful breakfast, the hotel looked nice and clean. Again: fantastic service!
Nice staff. Loved the afternoon waffles (included into room's price).
I didn't like this hotel, the only good thing was the location. We stayed in 6 hotels in Norway, and this was the worst! They were house repairs under our room, with a terrible noise from 8:15h A.M. They didn´t clean the room or emptied the garbage. We had booked a triple room, but the third bed was very uncorfortable. The beakfast was poor. Because of the noise and the grubbiness we tried to wright a complaint but in the reception they said they had'n a complaints book.
The staff were nice and helpful and the breakfast was amazing. We had our own TV and bathroom that were all really nice especially for the price.
The staff were excellent, very friendly with lots of advice on activities and helped us book our tours. The room was warm, clean and spacious for a 4 bed and the bathroom beautiful with heated flooring! The breakfast is very early, only until 9am on weekdays, but worth it.
We stayed in a three bedroom Viking Hotel Apartment, just a short walk from the Hotel. The apartment was very well appointed. Fast & free wifi included. Our apartment had a balcony area which was perfect for Northern Lights viewings! Check in was very smooth; the staff were professional, efficient and extremely knowledgable about Tromso. We enjoyed our stay immensely & will be recommending the Viking Hotel and Apartments to other travellers. No complaints whatsoever!
We booked a family room for four people. On arrival we were offered an upgrade to one of the apartments, which we accepted. I must stress that we viewed the family room, it was absolutely fine and we would have been more than happy with it for our six night stay in Tromso. The apartment gave us 2 seperate bedrooms, sitting and kitchen areas. Both the room and apartment were spotllessly clean. All the staff were very friendly and helpful. Mr Jensen is very friendly and extremely knowledgable. He could not do enough for us, nothing was too much bother for him and he made our stay truly memorable. We can not thank him enough for all he did. We went on a Northern Lights trip with "Guide Gunnar" and experienced an unforgettable sight.
friendly staff, pool & sauna n/a
Good value Comfortable All ok
Facilities are excellent. The view in the restaurant are as excellent as their breakfast!
only price was fair ,clean room ,car parking , quit hotel must pay for parking , far for center city 15 min walk
The young girl stuff at night was very nice and the sauna was good! The sauna, gym and swimming pool are already included in the price, also the breakfast. It looks like hospital or retired people house but inside the room is fine. the location is not suitable for people who travel with big luggage. You have to take bus 40 or 42 from the Tromso airport but the stop is not in front of the airport, you have to find it. Then you arrive in downtown, change the bus 37. The flybus driver can't take you to somewhere near there (I asked him as the hotel stuff wrote in the email but in vain...)At night, when you are cold and tired, you don't want to do all these movements so I took a taxi and it costed about 150 nok but it's just 5 mins. A little bit expensive!
Cleanliness of the room
very nice , close to all city attractions and city center
Extremely courteous staff. Usual scandanavian simple style and good quality No problems really.
cozy clean room and comfortable bed.... lots of hot water and plenty of soap... heating to dry my clothes.... friendly helpful staff... Limited TV channels English and no mini-bar
typical hotel for business trip, the rest. near to hotel is quite good. staff service need to improve
Good location in city centre. Good buffet breakfast served in adjacent chain restaurant (Egon). Rooms are smallish but very clean and quiet (except for the seagulls screaming 24h a day, probably unavoidable anywhere in the city). Friendly staff, free internet in the lobby. During our stay the hotel was full, and many breakfast buffet items occasionally run out. Not a lot of locker/drawer space in the room.
I liked the location, price and the design. i have nothing to say, did not experience anything that was negative
Pay 35 kr for discovery channel, that's just sad.
Could check in earlier because the room was cleaned up fast. Breakfast served until 11 am in the weekends.
Staff friendly, rooms modern, nice and clean. Good Wi Fi. Good bathroom. I asked for a 'room with a view' and they did the best they could, putting me on the top floor with balcony and some restricted views across city. On a clear night you could, theoretically, stand outside and see Northern Lights. I suggest you ask for the same. TV didn't work for all 5 days. They offered me another room, but I preferred the one I was in and downloading programs to watch. Not a big deal to me. Rooms might be a little tight for two people but, hey, get outside and enjoy the town!
The room was clean, quiet and comfortable. Excellent bathroom. Very ample breakfast. Excellent coffe machine in lobby sitting area.
It was ok, clean room, good breakfast, parking space, wi-fi. The price was a little to high.
Good breakfast. A view from the window at the mountains. problems with the plumbing
That they had a room available when all other hotels were booked full. The basic services did not work or were highly deficient. See above.
ive stopped in many hotels in norway and this one is the woerst by far the service is beyond belive and the staff just dont care less . the manager cant even pour a glass of chanegpane it was really bad i asked for a barcardi on sunday night, the person was to young to serve me and said no. there was 50 of us stopping and could not get food on sunday night
