I have stayed there before and the staff are always welcoming. When I asked to be moved to a quieter room away from traffic, this was dealt with quickly and without fuss.
Staff were helpful and friendly The rooms lacked maintenance, with some basic faults not fixed. e.g Shower head loose and needing holding to use.

The restaurant The bathroom was pathetic, thetoilet didn't flush we had to use the waste bin. After reporting it it only worked once after the repair.A tile fell of the side of the sink unit & parts of the formica was missing.

Location Could not get a drink 10.15pm 30th Dec? (Towels up)? No food New Years day (Breakfast) although guests were staying at the Hotel! No-one told. Limited food bar area. Very noisy rooms. Pets allowed to stay in rooms although told Pets not allowed. Carpets very dirty. Guests rooms wall very thin. Could hear everything through walls? Next doors toilet backed onto our Bedhead? The lady may as well have been in the same room, very embarressing. Hotel very tired and needs a total revamp. Given its location (on marina) Sheperd & Neame needs to splash the cash!! and soon.

The bedrooms were comfortable and the decor had an interesting nautical theme. Don't be put off by the look of the exterior; it's much nicer inside. The lighting in the bedroom was very dim and the room was cold. Breakfast service was slow on the Sunday morning.
It was very close to local amenities and staff and hotel were very good As it was New Year Weekend both fish dishes on menu were not available on both nights we dined there. As a non meat eater this left me with limited choice
Overall stay was very good and all the staff were very helpful and friendly. We had no blind up in the bathroom and mentioned it to one of the staff in the bar in the evening and it was dealt with the following day. Very good location for visiting family in Chatham and local amenities.
Situation good. It was a very busy pub not a hotel. Restaurant quality and selection fair. Reception desk was anyone one could get hold of behind the bar which was heaving!!!
friendly staff, good food at reasonable prices, real ales. rooms were very hot, so, some better form of air conditioning would be good, secure parking as we were on motorbikes.

Not clean, badly in need of a refurb
The hotel is convenient for visiting our family and reasonably priced. Decor in public areas is rather outdated and toilets in public areas require updating. Our standard room was well decorated and maintained. Rather short staffed at breakfast time - tables not cleared quickly causing delays at busy times but the 2 staff that we saw worked very hard.
Excellent room ,lovely hotel brilliant breakfast. Set me up for my journey home to Scotland after travelling up through France. I had travelled 450 miles through France, journeyed over the channel to Dover then drove to your hotel all in 1 day. When we arrived in the lovely room I really needed a drink so in the bar I ordered 1 cider and one glass of red wine for my wife. The charge was £6 I handed over a £10 Scottish note and the barman queried this and dissapeared. I told the barmaid I was too tired for this nonsense and I was drinking my drink anyway.The barman returned and said it will be ok. After I went back to the bar for the same order again, the barmaid said something to me that I did not pick up so I handed over another £10 note as this was all I had and was charged £6-50. I hope this was not a surcharge. Very offensive if it is. Anyway I will stay there again as all the other staff especially the breakfast staff were great and I am going to overlook that incident which borders on racial discrimination

Nothing really. I don't think I will ever stay in the hotel again. The rooms were really uncomfortable. The beds were horrible. We asked for a non smoking room and had stains of cigars in our room. But the worst part is that, since pets are allowed, you can't really know how clean the rooms and the rest is. When stepping out of my room I found dog durst. You can imagine my shock. It has been the most disgusting experience ever. And the worse part is that the staff was not at all sorry for what happened.
The views of the lake from the room were incredible. Not enough staff we were kept waiting for everything.

Dining was good and we were well served by the staff who were very attentive. Breakfast was very good also The hotel was cold and my room was very cold being on the top floor. `it was near the lifts which was helpful.
Staff were well trained and keen to oblige. They willingly moved me to another room when I mentioned to them that the corridor outside the non smoking room room smelled strongly of smoke. This was meant to be a non smiking hotel. Breakasts were good. Parking was plentiful. Corridors occasionally smelled of smoke although this was a non smoking hotel. More reinforcement needed to ensure no-one smokes in the hotel at all.
The food was excellent and the staff very friendly and polite. The picture quality on the television was appalling on virtually all channels, otherwise my stay was very pleasant and most enjoyable.
Staff were excellent food good and happy to prepare food not on menu All room sground floor, impossible to switch heater off not possible to leave room open all night
Sheets and blankets! Duvets would be much more comfortable

The whole experience - the room was very comfortable; the staff were really helpful and friendly; the breakfast was excellent. We also had the Sunday lunch carvery which was really good, and excellent value. My parents complained that they were disturbed by loud music from a wedding party, but since this finished at 11pm they were able to get to sleep reasonably early.
Lovely hotel radiator in room did not work
We stayed one night. Check in was straightforward and the room more than suitable for our purpose (visiting faimily near by)

The leisure facilities: Gym, swimming pool, jacuzzi, sauna and steam room and the breakfast I suggest each toilet room has WC brush and air freshner

On arrival there was a problem with the booking, I'm unsure whether the hotel had only received my details from you or had not received any details, but this problem was dealt with swiftly and courtiously. Access to the swimming pool was good. Breakfast was reasonable with good space between tables and no feeling that we were being rushed to finish our meal. The absence of double glazing in our room meant that we could hear the traffic on the main road outside at all times.

Easy booking process, efficient check-in and friendly helpful staff. No room service - wireless internet is not free. Most hotels offer free internet these days.
The staff were very friendly and helpful - made us eel very welcome. The breakfast and dinner were also very good as was the excellent service. The bed was very comfy. The TV reception was veyrpoor and the bathroom extractor fan was exceptionally noisy.
Very handy location for me near the A" while my wife went to Bluewater/Canterbury etc. Early morning or late evening having to walk past smokers leaning against the handrail at the entrance to reception. What an offensive entrance to a 4 star hotel.The smoke gets through into reception as well.This does spoil your hotel. Ughh.

The hotel was clean and the staff very helpful. The location is quite and parking is available. The Breakfast was fantastic. In a country where hotel cost is so high this hotel offers very good value for money. This is better than many European 3 Star hotels and equivalent to some 4 Stars. The carpet on the floor it made the room feel a bit stuffy and smelt a little dusty.
Excellent greeting at reception and even better from the receptionist asking about my stay, plus wishing me a good day. Had to park in disabled through lack of space, but not a problem.

Very clean and excellent desk staff. Room was very hot. a delivery on Saturday morning at 7.30am was lengthy and noisy.
A perfect location for shopping at Bluewater and Lakeside. The floors in the hallways made quite some noise when walked on.

Despite refubishment of lobby the hotel made every effort to minimise disruption to guests Breakfast could be better, more choice such as meat, cheeses, yoghurt for people who dont want full english.

Executive room had very nice comfortable bed, great view over river and was generally very clean. All was very good value as included breakfast. Staff at breakfast was very funny, friendly and helpful. Bin in Bathroom was not emptied from before. Staff at check in and check out desk/reception could be more helpful and informative, was not told what time breakfast was, where served etc,how to find room. Found out ourselves. Also was not asked how stay was when checked out.
It was convenient for a social activity that we attended The service at breakfast was not good. 'You cant sit there thats laid up for supper' by way of an example. The only differance seemed to be a wine glass with a paper napkin in the bowl.Poached egg was not cooked. Waitress clacking about on high heeled shoes on an uncarpetted floor was irritating. The dining room rather lacked atmosphere as did the hotel.
Excellent check-in staff (very good staff in general in fact with good local area knowledge) and the hotel is in a good location and easy to find. Clean room and comfortable beds. Ideal for visiting Brands Hatch or Buckmore Park kart circuit. None really. The bathroom could have maybe done with an update, but it was still acceptable.

Would recommend hotel for business travellers. Rooms and facitlites good, gym, restaurant and free wi-fi. I would suggest where possible solo female travellers are given rooms on the first floor.
comfy rooms and beds, nice rooms price of breakfast is very excessive. Croissants were dry, just one bread roll all dried up, coffee overcooked
The spa facilities and spa staff were good and the rooms were clean and had everythingI needed. The self service hot food at breakfast, even toast. I had to order my poached egg sepatarely. One day it came so quickly I hadn't finished my cereal. The next I had to wait 20 minutes before asking for this and some tea because no one had acknowledged me and my toast was cold and soggy when it arrived. The hash browns had also got soggy because it was near the end of breakfast by the time it arrives after I had waited so long. They appeared to be short staffed that day. I would prefer my order for tea and hot food to be taken upon arrival, as is the case at your Bruntsfield hotel in Edinburgh.
Always acnowledged by staff, and they made themselves ready for any questions without the guest having to wait. The room got a little too hot through the night. Heating was not on and ambient temp was not over hot. The sound proofing of the building is to such a good level that the natural adventitious ventilation has been reduced to zero.

The staff were very friendly and informative, ensuring we knew all relevant information without being pushy or intrusive. The hotel was in a good location on the A2 and gave good access to both carriageways. The carvery next door was absolutely dreadful, and breakfast was not great.

The food was fantastic! Great location too. There was one woman doing everything, so people (including myself) were waiting significant amounts of time to be seen, which was very frustrating. Once seen, the staff member was very polite.
The staff were very freindly and nothing was too much trouble. The food was outstanding both our evening meal and the breakfast. The hotel is generally run down and in need of some modernisation. However the good staff, the great food, excellent off road parking all contrived to make it a very enjoyable experience.
Perfect spot for a trip to Gravesend. Typical "family style" converted villa hotel delivering exactly6 what you would expect.

Very pleasant hotel and good value for the location which was excellent just a few minutes walk from the centre of Gravesend. The residents bar closed early, however they were happy for us to bring in some wine from the 24 hour Asda across the road and use the bar area.

The hotel is quaint with lots of history to tell. It had a very homely feel, which I appreciated after being on the road for several weeks.
It was lovely and slightly old fashioned. Also quite personable with regard to the rapport that the manager endeavours to developed with guests. I found the managers attempts to be helpful and attentive to be somewhat overbearing and unnerving. It made me feel a little uncomfortable.... He needs to chill out a bit, as guests will generally ask for help if they need it, and drop the '21 questions' routine....... Or better yet, put it in the hotel compendium and make it available in the guests room.
