i had business meetings and fount that the hotel was very close to the main A2, ut also walking distance to the centre of Canterbury.
staff very friendly lovely clean warm room very relaxed nothing
The rooms were spacious the bed comfortable but tired looking. But we enjoy staying here.
Room was too warm and could not adjust the temperature
The receptionist was great and enthusiastic. Bed was comfy, room was small but the shower worked..so all in all quite a comfortable stay. The mug in the room for tea/coffee was really dirty.
easy to get to, good basic price for a good basic hotel, staff were very friendly Hotel rooms were spotless, but stairs were a bit worn and dusty
The excellent staff were both welcoming and helpful, genuinely happy to welcome us to Canterbury
The Victoria Hotel is in a good location. The staff and the restaurant are the winning points.
Clean, spacious and comfortable room. Not too far from the city centre. Staff friendly and helpful.
Comfortable bed. Good sized bathroom. Narrow room with little space at foot of bed. Traffic noise. Lack of furniture (bedside cabinet only one side of bed). Noise from other guests in corridor.
Helpful, welcoming arrival. Excellent breakfast, parking area. Like staying in a small luxury hotel, lovely room & facilities
Very difficult to find - especially the parking - you must know how to get to parking if you are driving as you cannot stop or park in the front Having to leave at 10am - at a min it should be 11
Very helpful service & clean Couldn't really see how it was rated a 4-star guesthouse, but then these are guesthouses and not hotels
The location was ideal, only a short, pleasant walk from the centre of the city with ample car parking space. The staff were friendly & very helpful .
It's a lovely guest house, owners are very friendly and really interested in your visit.
Room was comfortable. Excellent breakfast. Covenient location for city centre.
Friendly staff, individually cooked breakfast no separate lounge/bar area for residents-the hotel was packed with diners
The location is excellent and just off the main high street in Canterbury and a 5 minute walk from the railway station. For a budget hotel, it also provided an excellent cooked breakfast. A thick layer of dust on the dressing table where the T.V was perched!
being in city centre, staff very friendly and helpful car parking not closeby
Very good value for money. Very friendly staff.
Excellent breakfast, Staff very helpful. The family room not so comfortable. No elevator.
convenience for shops and Cathedral, people very friendly and informative a little awkward to find when driving.
The staff were very friendly and helpful and the food was delicious. The location was perfect for the Marlowe as well as bars, pubs and restaurants.
excellent hotel staff and lovely rooms the stairs are a bit small when carrying large suit cases
Great stay loved everything about the hotel, staff fanstastic and you cant get a better location - we will be back soon and would defo recomend
Access to full Freeview channels on TV Food not stunning, and felt very much an outstider when walking through the bar to get to the restaurant. Also seemed to be a nuisance as large parties were expected that evening!
The staff was great and responsive. We had to change rooms due to toilet not working. Then, the new room had no toilet paper and the window crank was missing.
nice village location, close to canterbury heating in bedroom warm air
no mini bar in room no glasses in room
Great place to stay with old fshioned service and friendly staff. Food is excellent value and the Kentish breakfast a must!
The staff were particularly pleasant
Key system to room
Quiet, non-smoking, good breakfast, interesting buildings, off- road parking. None really.
Nice place to stay. We were travelling on, so we stayed only one night. Perfect to visit Kent.
The location was excellent in a quiet village. The room itself was confortable and well appointed, quite charming. The staff were friendly and attentative and the food very good.
Friendly staff great food quiet location. Bedroom was above kitchen with a noisy boiler or extractor fan
good food, comfortable bed no
relaxed and friendly
Everything it was perfect
Location and atmosphere. Nice pub and lovely open fire. Breakfast was wonderful Nothing
Lovely hotel situated in a very quaint village. Food was excellent. The staff friendly and accommodating to our needs. Unfortunately our bedroom was over the boiler room and the pump was giving out a huming noise all night.
The staff were particularly friendly and catered to all the needs of our party (20 people in total). Our room was in a converted old building and was very compact. It was fine for one night - not sure that I would want to spend more than a couple of days in that room.
Cosy, historical room. Excellent food at breakfast and dinner. Convenient parking.
The smell of the foliage! but not a major problem.
Excellent room, warm and large. Shower needed a de-scale.
The hotel was ideally located for station, shops and restaurants. The staff were efficient, friendy and helpful. The room and bathroom were rather cold - this is a statement of fact rather than a complaint
Car parking facilities and friendly staff also excellent shower! Room a bit small and no room service menu
Comfortable rooms Not enough tables for breakfast. Slow service
The staff were good. I stay in a lot of hotels and the information about the room etc is not satisfactory good location though & small but all night bar Plenty. It did not feel clean, the rooms were small and ill equiped and very dated bathroom etc
Comfortable room, comfortable bed, nice duvet/pillows (choice of feather/hypoallergenic type) airy room, good breakfast.
I liked that the hotel was so central . the staff very polite and very helpful The breakfast was horrible. very overcooked . we had toast though .Also the room we had , room 16, was very noisy .
proximity to city centre we were in the annexe (Tap Rooms?) about 6 feet from an unbelievably noisy pub whose clientelle spilled out on to the street and shouted and kept us awake until 2.00am. unimaginative selection of breakfasts, would have expected more than just the "full english" or parts there of
We enjoyed I stay here. Convenient for shopping, good atmosphere, good breakfast, easy check-in, staff helpful and friendly.
Location Very noisy so not much sleep.
we particularly enjoyed the breakfast and its surroundings, the location was very good and everything looked clean the bed was far too hard
Friendly and helpful staff - nothing was too much trouble Nothing
Friendliness of the staff. The breakfast was excellent too and nothing seemed too much trouble.
Off street parking, great breakfast and warm swimming pool to ease the stress of the journey. Okay for walking adults to journey to city centre but tiresome with young kids - use a taxi, enjoy your holday and we would stay again.
The room was of a very good standard and comfortable. The breakfast was very good and the staff were exellent. My only critsism would be the lack of available parking. However, the staff dealt with this issue in a positive way.
Comfortable Hotel conveniently situated and with very friendly staff
Location close to the city centreof Canterbury. Clean. Friendly staff. Freshly coocked breakfast. Exactly what we expected.
Nice friendly staff Hotel clean and tidy very good location for centre of Canterbury and good hearty breakfast
Friendly staff. Location. Comfort. Breakfast. Easy to find. A definite "Stay again" hotel. Loved it! No
Good location with parking. Very pleasant and helpful staff. Comfortable room and good breakfast. Limited TV channels and no instructions provided.
Very friendly staff
Convenient for our destination. Good size room and very clean. A bit noisy from hotel work during the early hours.
I thought adding 50% on the price for our wednesday night for no added reason was steep, Tuesday and Thursday night was right price for the standard room. Not enough seating in eating area had to wait 30mins for a table, lounge area too small and very cold
comfortable, clean room with good bathroom facilities. Breakfast nice and available at sensible times for a change! Staff freindly. Silly location.
Excellent service No lift available. Only continental breakfast available.
Clean and comfortable room Cold water and shower - boiler broken! Poor quality of breakfast.
The room i well designed and just right for a short stay. Too much traffic noise with the window open. Suggest customer is given the option of a room further from road if available
THe Room was clean and the beg comfortable Access fom Canterbury was really complicated and the signs to the hotel were poor
The room was basic but clean and was just what I expected On both evenings I stayed there I asked for an extra quilt on the sofa bed and didn't get one although I was given two extra pillows. Too tired to keep moaning.
staff and facilities were as to be expected, yet somehow seemed better than other Holiday Inns i have stayed in. N/A
Very comfortable clean Lovely setting Nowhere to sit ie lounge
The guest house is in an extremely quiet and pretty location but the time of year meant that we could not take advantage of this! However it is convenient for Canterbury & surrounding areas. The guest accomodation is in an addition to the main building, therefore the walls are rather thin and we were disturbed by other guests using their shower. There was also a lot of noise quite early in the morning (someone going to work?)
Beautiful surroundings, very friendly owners, terrific English breakfast, great place for quiet and lovely break. Would recommend this to everybody looking for a great weekend in Kent. Not much, only two small things: being the last to shower the hot water run out and a bit thin walls and floors which which gave some neighbour-noise.
location, location, location generally speaking there was nothing I did not like
Not much. Dificult to find, cold rooms, tiny bathrooms.obviously run on a shoestring. See above
We found the hotel comfortable but basic - it was an excellent choice for the purpose of our trip. We were visiting our nephew at the university it was our own fault but we booked a room with a shared bathroom - we prefer en suite
Location. Views on the Cathedral and right in the centre of Canterbury. Plenty of choice with the Continental breakfast. Labyrinth to find rooms. Uneven floors due to age. Average furnishing. About 500 metres to nearest car park.
The hotel had a great atmosphere - really quaint. Staff were friendly and helpful, and left us to it. None
The rooms and the hotel in general were very comfortable and good looking. From the window, we could see the famous Canterbury Cathedral which is actually adjacent to the hotel itself. The breakfast included in the price was served directly in the room, but it is also possible to have it in the common dining room. The toilets and the showers were very clean. The bin in the room was full of garbage when we arrived in the hotel. The toilet paper in the common toilet finished and no one came to replace it.
Right in the centre, plenty of character.
Good location in the centre next to the high street shops and cathedral. I was cold in the room, did not know how to get more heat from the radiator. Also the window did not close well and it was a rainy and cold day. The tv is really very small with only about 3 channels working, only one clearly. It seemed a bit like camping, not good in winter. Only a sink in the room and old fashion, water either too hot or too cold. Room very small, oldish, but that is to be expected in an old building.
Very nice four poster bed; interesting and charming room (tiny bit cluttered though?) but clean. Friendly and speedy check-in and check- out; pleasant staff all round. Interesting hotel with history and great location. Good view of the Cathedral from the room. Very poor shower - no pressure at all. No one greeted us at breakfast, so delays in getting served, and table not set out properly. Generally unsuitable dining room - had we known how claustrophobic it was we would have chosen to eat in the room. Comparable hotels would have had hot breakfast included in the price.
The place is over 500 years old, and looking at the height of the door frames, I would guess that to be correct. I felt like I was staying in a museum, and I mean that in a good way. It was really cool sitting there thinking that people had been staying in the same room I was in for the past few hundred years. The hotel faces a really nice little square on one side, and looks out over Canterbury Cathedral and its surrounding yard on the other. Its a great location for exploring the town, and the prevalence of the Star Bucks right under the hotel made my friends happy they were able to connect history with 21st century consumerism. The room I stayed in had a 30 degree angle slant which made for an odd first couple steps if you got out of bed. But granting that the room was a few centuries old, I could understand it. It even added to the charm I suppose. You were forced to share a toilet and shower with the floor, but even though the hotel was supposedly fully booked I never had any issues with either being occupied. They were clean, and it didn't really bother me, but might not be something seeking a private bed/bath would like.
the restaurant was closed and there was no good restaurant in the neighbourhood
Staff were extremely professional and friendly. The facilities were great especially for the cost. Restaurant prices were very fair and great quality food. No bad points.
The lodge we stayed in was spacious and comfortable with high quality furniture and fittings. It was in a lovely, peaceful location - exciting to be able to hear owls calling to eachother from the trees just by the lodge. Great to have room to sit round and relax as a family rather than being squeezed into a hotel room. Easy to get into Canterbury from the location either by car or bus. It would have been very helpful if there was up-to-date information provided about what food & drink facilities were available for the dates that we were there. When we arrived back at the lodge after an evening out on the second night of our stay the lodge was cold as the central heating had broken down. However, we were able to phone the main hotel and security brought us a stand alone heater which did help.
The peacefull it was no restaurent and Bar also closed at 7pm!! After a journey to get there the last ting i wanted to do was arrange food and drink.
The accommodation was first class and we could not find fault with anything. Super weekend retreat !
Calm. Very friendly staff. Early check out.
the chalet style accomodation was much better than I every imagine it would be. There was more than enough room for the 5 of us and the cleanliness with top class. The leisure facilities were great, staff were really helpful and friendly, and it was real value for money The only negative thing to say is, we found the check in time a little too late and check out too early.
The cabin appeared to have recently been modernised. There were 6 of us staying and there was plenty of space.
5 star accomadation with a 2 star price. We only stayed one night but would of loved to stay for more.
Accommodation excellent. Bright, spacious, extremely well-equipped cabins. Loads of excellent facilities to use, most of which were free. Main house and surrounding lovely. Check-in/out times! Earliest check-in at 4 p.m. and check-out at 10 a.m. These are the most extreme check-in/out times I have come across and make this a much less attractive option than it would be with more conventional timings (say 2 and 11).
The cleaniness and friendly staff
Friendly staff and closeness to city centre. Pub had cosy fire. No free parking.
location could not arrange breakfast before 8.00
Excellent staff, wonderful location and fantastic value for money. Thank you Nothing
Convenience, comfortable room and food excellent Room was on the 'road side' so noisy at pub closing time
friendly staff na
Hotel rooms in need of renovation
near the city centre could do with re decoration.
Location, bar area was lovely Shower tray didn't drain, curtains hanging off rail, strange smell in stairwell, tv in room only had 4 channels, not freeview like most other 4 star hotels. This was a 3 star hotel at best, sorry
excellent staff/service will use again
Very friendly, excellent service.Rooms were more like 4/5 star hotel than inn, they were beautifully presented.Breakfast was fab with what appeared to be the use of all local produce.Relatively close to channel tunnel None
Very friendly service, excellent breakfast None
Very clean room and good breakfast. A nice straightforward place to stay with everything necessary for comfort.
Excellent value, warm and friendly, owners made our stay relaxing and nothing too much trouble. Nothing
The breakfasts were lovely and the choice on the menu exciting including kippers and haddock! Loved the location, quiet village but easy drive (or regular bus ride) into Canterbury itself. Clean, modern rooms with everything needed. There was a strange smell in the room, we put it down to the wood from the wardrobe after a sniff around. Maybe an air freshner would be helpful?
Breakfast was very good. Gentleman running the hotel on the Sunday was very friendly Airless room with depressing decor. No milk provided for tea/coffee. Woman running the hotel on the Saturday was not friendly and had no charm.
We loved it, amazing friendly people, Denise is a great chef! Awesome place to stay
What a delightful place to stay. They really looked after me - good quality food and nice clean comfortable rooms.
lovely clean rooms and so spacious put many four star hotels to shame.quiet location but near to Cantebury Breakfast superb and cooked to order not being able to see menu for evening meals was told one would be puton board by dining room but didnt seem to happen so went to nearby pub for meal
reception staff very helpful with local information
hotel staff very helpful bed very poor quality food in resturant i e evening meal poor breakfast excellent
cleanlinness of room also good location, access to some very nice places.Food very close by.Very helpful when we required another chair. Milk in room never tasted fresh.Only one relaxing chair .Was more than we thought we would pay. When you have a room with two people in I do not think we should have to ask for two Chairs!
Catered for the elderly with disabilities Fire door closures were noisy
Clean friendly place We only wanted to book a single night, but we were instructed there was no available rooms but when we then put in for two nights suddenly there was rooms available. So we had to stay two nights double the price.
Room was a little shabby and cramped for a family room
The receptionist was very good, and explained all the facilities. The room was exactly as expected and was pleasant enough for one night. I do feel that Premier Inn's should use 5' beds not 4' 6". Traffic noise with the window open, too hot with it shut. (There was a small desk fan .... too noisy)
Hotel staff exellent None really but room could do with flat screen tv
The bed was comfortable and the room was clean. I was very disappointed with the frayed towel that should have been thrown away months ago and the leaky toilet. We left a day early as we felt £83 per night was too much foe a mediocre motel.
New spacious rooms, clean, friendly staff, restaurant next doors, no unnessary luxury like telephone. Too much noise from the traffic.
Lovely surroundings, good food and excellent staff Very warm in bedrooms on sunny days. If a function was taking place, it would be a bit noisy.
The excellent customer services, even when I checked in at 9:30pm I was warmly greated, I settled into my room and then had a drink in the bar...great open log fire , comfortable and friendly. Really nice place . Maybe the tables in the breakfast room were too close and made for limited conversation without over hearing the table next door.
lovely rooms, particularly thye lounge by the fire! Excelent on a cold afternoon.
We booked a poster bed and a twin room but ended up with two double rooms.
the staff were friendly and the resaurant was excellent. the bathrooms were a little small.
Friendly staff, good location, excellent dinner and breakfast, clean and comfortable. My sister tripped on a shallow step outside our bedroom as we went down to breakfast. The hotel building is very old, which is part of its charm, but this step should be marked to warn guests. My sister sprained both ankles quite badly, which rather spoilt our enjoyment of the remainder of our stay in Canterbury and restricted what we could do.
Staff very friendly and helpfull. Room very clean and comfortable and breakfast was very nice. None
Quiet location, comfortable beds, clean bathrooms with hot water. Very helpfull and cheerfull staff. Plenty of parking and nice grounds. Breakfast was not very inspiring. An apple/cereal/tinned tomatoes/bad coffee in a thermos
The staff were very polite and very helpful, also the breakfast was excellent!!! Hotel and Gardens beutiful.very happy hotel!.
a geat place to stay and value for money
