Nothing It needed a complete overhaul - the rooms were shabby the bathrooms appalling. The noises from other guests and the communal toilet and water system all through the night (which appeared be be immediately adjacent to our room) meant that sleep was impossible. Glad to leave.
The hotelier remembered us and welcomed us in a pleasant manner. The room was light and had everything we needed. Good breakfast.
Very nice couple and breakfast lovely. However in terms of the room, you 'd never have a hotel like this in the UK for normal guest just DHSS hostel type place.
Quiet location Directions were not so good, it was not as close to the ferry port as I thought
Quiet location but near local amenities None
The room was on the ground floor and all on the flat. Nothing
The proprietors were very friendly. Putting an extra bed in the room was no trouble. It was very cheap! It was in need of serious redecoration. The photo of the hotel on the website bore very little (if any) relationship to the actual hotel!
Lovely room with great view (harbour room). Extremely comfortable and friendly hotel. If staying for more than a couple of nights, the menu was limited, however there are other restaurants around the vacinity if you go out. Wine at this hotel was quite pricey.
everything our group was separated (2 rooms in the main building 1 in the annex) the main facilities being in the main building.
A small hotel giving good personal service
The situation in a quiet location overlooking the estuary was delightful. It only took forty minutes from Cherbourg, on easy quiet roads. Food was of a high standard, but note that dinner is not served on Mondays, but can be obtained at sister hotel a mile away. Room pleasant and very comfortable.
A pleasant hotel with basic rooms but very clean. Good shower. Staff very friendly and helpful. Free wi-fi and good breakfast. Location ok but Carteret is where the most shops restaurants etc are
Nice clean light room with a beautiful view, in a lovely old French village, a few doors from the tourist office and a pleasant walk to the beach/sea and Carteret harbour. In October it was very quiet and there weren't places open in the evening to eat except the hotel itself, or down in Carteret. The food and service at the hotel was great, though can't really been done on the cheap. There is a supermarket in the village for food, however.
Perfect place for overnight stop before or after a ferry crossing, excellent resteraunt with good value menu, private car park with lovely garden and swings at the back of the hotel. Very friendly host and immaculate bathroom, bedding etc. Would definately stop again. Should just say it is in the town and not by the beach.
Lovely location,tastefully furnished.
Very comfortable room, clean and helpful, friendly staff
Location was beautiful and relaxing. Staff is friendly and helpful. Being charged for breakfast automatically when we did not use the service. Only stairs to get to 2nd floor.
Very attentive staff. Excellent food. Vg location None
We loved the quietness, the beautiful garden and the comfort of the bedroom.
Quiet location, near to the ferry terminal (Cherburg) Breakfast buffet was not up to that usually provided in a 3star hotel in this region of France.
A very clean comfortable hotel within 30 k of Cherbourg - very handy for the ferries. The local area is lovely and the beaches further south are great. The hotel does not do evening meals - but does a French breakfast for €10 per head. Many of the local restaurants are closed on a Sunday evening!
Pleasant position, unobtrusive staff, clean environment
Hotel was unware of booking because the booking was made on the same day.
Good breakfast, nice room
The beautiful bedroom/en-suite which was like a one roomed gatehouse, the chateau, gardens and river walk were delightful. This hotel only does breakfast (continental) and only starts serving at 8.30; we then only had an hour to check out and drive 25 miles to Cherbourg for the ferry. Two restaurantes about 3 miles away so you have to drive to eat.
Very charming hotel! Stayed in the lower priced category which was a detached, old cottage with a huge beam and other original features. Breakfast was in an elegant dining room and served on best porcelain and silver coffee pot. Beach nearby was beautiful, as was the surrounding countryside. Madame was the perfect hostess and made us feel very welcome. She also recommended an excellent restaurant where we had a fabulous meal. We shall definitely consider staying there again and maybe try one of the elegant rooms in the main chateau building.
The hotel was very convenient for Cherbourg to be able to catch the ferry early in the morning. The building and grounds were lovely.
it's a beautifully located Chteau, with a lovely garden, spacious, nicely decorated rooms.
