Pros: Emma was a real star and a great host. We where a last minute booking, which is rare for BnBs but Emma made us feel welcome and gave us loads of suggestions of pubs, walks, places to visit. It was a lovely house, set in lovely countryside. Near by was loads of stately homes, even with Moore sculpture exbo. Pubs where great ranging from old classic pubs to full on Mitchline Star stuff with Hollywood actor grabbing a roast during filming.
Cons: Nothing. It was wonderful.
Strattons Hotel - Swaffham - Building
2
8.9 Excellent (291 reviews)
Overview Reviews
Tucked off the high street of the market town of Swaffham in Norfolk, the family-run Strattons hotel is a beautiful Queen Anne Palladian villa. Whether you're in the mood for kitsch and contemporary or antiques and fabric-festooned decadence, each room is individually decorated with a unique theatrical flair. Not just a pretty face, the hotel has won awards for its restaurant and eco-policies; it's a child-friendly hotel, too.
6.8 Good
Pros: Breakfast was nutritious and bed was comfortable though on the soft side.
Cons: Hadn't expected it to be in the café opposite the hotel. As the weather was dry this did not pose a problem but on wet or cold days wouldn't have appreciated having to go outside before getting fed. The location was in a quiet spot though have to say that the town of Swaffham was a disappointment from a sight-seeing point of view and had obviously seen better days.
8.8 Excellent
Pros: Decor
Cons: DVD player didn’t work
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Love love love this boutique hotel - I have stayed here now on a few occasions and every time the staff are really friendly and welcoming (as is the hotel cat). The rooms are beautiful and the locally cooked food is out of this world. Would highly recommend.
Cons: There is nothing I don't like about this hotel.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Great breakfast. Dinner excellent if a little pricey. Staff very helpful & friendly. Quirky room.
Cons: Dinner was a little on the pricey side.
8.8 Excellent
Pros: We liked a lot of things about our visit including (a) the quirkiness and homeliness of the hotel, (b) the staff who were both very friendly and happy to accommodate individual needs, (c) food- both breakfast and dinner- choices- for the latter, though more limited change seasonally and the restaurant was able to cater for a wide range of dietary requirements with no fuss (we ate in the restaurant for three consecutive nights and enjoyed all our meals), (d) the petit fours, (e) vegeree for breakfast, (f) the friendliness of other guests and (g) the location.
9.3 Excellent
Pros: Like an Oasis. Beautiful hotel with great staff. Not stuffy. Nice and relaxed atmosphere. Quirky. Great restaurant which was very reasonably priced for a nicely balanced beautifully presented meal.
Cons: Centre of Swaffham a little disappointing, but don't let that put you off
9.3 Excellent
Pros: Strattons is absolutely gorgeous. The rooms are cute and quirky, with great products in the bathroom, staff are friendly and helpful and the food was absolutely excellent, using delicious local and seasonal ingredients. The hotel's resident kitty was a nice bonus too (if you are a cat person!). Will definitely come back.
Cons: I found Swaffham to be a little charmless, but it's a great location for exploring other parts of Norfolk, including forest and coast, so not a huge problem.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Beautiful grounds, very peaceful yet central. Staff professional & very friendly. Wonderful restaurant & cafe. Worth every penny.
Cons: No negatives here.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Great food and service with a smile

Cons: No air con on the hottest day of the year!

Overview Reviews
With a stay at Bedingfeld Arms in King's Lynn, you'll be a 3-minute walk from Oxburgh Hall and within a 5-minute drive of Gooderstone Water Gardens. Free self parking is available onsite.
7.5 Good
Pros: Comfortable bed. Very nice breakfast
Cons: Rooms were converted from outbuildings and doors didn't fit frames properly. As it was warm it wasn't too much of an issue but the rooms did have a slightly musty smell. The shower had black mould on the tile grouting from the damp atmosphere. It was not covered in it but it needed sorting.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Friendly staff, room was lovely and big and comfortable. Food was lovely. Last minute booking that was totally worth it.
Cons: Not a great selection of drinks at the bar.
9.3 Excellent
Pros: Lovely location, food was great and staff very friendly and helpful. We had our dog with us and the Bedingfeld Arms was very dog friendly, even had dog treats behind the bar!
Cons: Lots of flies - although we realise this is through no fault of the Bedingfeld Arms, just the time of year and it’s rural location.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Location was wonderful. Very peaceful picturesque spot. Great having Oxborough Hall just across the road. Lovely big garden to enjoy summer evenings. We stayed in one of the coach house rooms which was quite spaceous and had a very comfortable bed.
Cons: Slight problem with flies in restaurant probably due to hot weather

8.0 Excellent
Pros: The evening meal was very good, the cooked breakfast was just right, my wife and I really enjoyed the food. The room was comfy and absolutely right for us.
Cons: The buffet breakfast was a bit limited, and the items weren't readily re-stocked. It would have been nice to have had a light on both sides of the bed.
Red Lodge Country House - Swaffham - Bedroom
5
8.7 Excellent (123 reviews)
8.3 Excellent
Pros: Great hosts with a Norfolk welcome, fantastic breakfast and a beautiful setting. Lovely to be able to sit outside in the evening overlooking fields, listening to birds singing. Rare for me to sleep well in a 'strange' bed, but was very comfortable.
Cons: Nothing really. It's a really old country property, some creaking floorboards and cracked ceilings is to be expected, and it didn't bother me but might bother some.
9.5 Excellent
Pros: The location of the property is excellent. It is set well back from a quiet country road and is surrounded by fields and woodland. Peter and the other staff were very helpful and courteous. Peter gave us an upgrade to the suite at no extra cost which was a very pleasant surprise. The suite is spacious with a large bathroom and separate lounge area. We had great views over the countryside. The cooked breakfasts were fine and the hotel has its own bar and a lovely garden in which to sit and watch the sun go down. All in all we enjoyed our stay at Red Lodge Country House very much and would have no hesitation in recommending the place to others.
Cons: All was fine.
9.5 Excellent
Pros: Super friendly staff. Service excellent and breakfast absolutely delicious. Bed large and comfortable, generous sized room. Surrounded by countryside as far as the eye can see.
Cons: A peacefully quiet part of the world, so would have preferred not to be woken up early by a roaming rooster.
9.5 Excellent
Pros: On our arrival we were upgraded to the Mulberry suite, wow what a treat, it is bigger than my entire house! Sleeping in a four poster bed with a view out over the fields I felt like I was in a Jane Austen novel. Then there was the breakfast. I’d come back here just for the food, the most amazing freshly cooked breakfast and all with local ingredients. Home made toasted spelt bread, rubbed with garlic and truffle oil, topped with slow roasted tomatoes, home smoked salmon, avocado and a poached egg laid by the resident chickens. The owner/host and chef couldn’t have been more welcoming and his enthusiasm for the food he created was infectious. I’d highly recommend a stay here.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The location is breathtaking if you want quiet and tranquility, an amazing place to unwind and leave the hustle and bustle behind. The breakfast was also top notch—excellent produce and the eggs come straight from the hens roaming the property.
Cons: The bed was a little too soft but that's a personal preference — it might be perfect for others.
5.5 Okay
Pros: Lovely breakfast, lovely old house in rural setting. Comfy bed
Cons: Facilities in room were poor- the only hooks to hang clothes on covered the only usable mirror in the room. The other mirror was so high I had to stand on the bed to see in it. The ensuite wet room was very amateurish in its way it had been created from a cupboard , with exposed wires, and not finished off. Room was not refreshed during the day, coffee etc not replenished. I would expect more for the price.
8.8 Excellent
Pros: Lovely Country House with some nice period features, the room I stayed in was lovely
Cons: Nothing really
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Bed was huge! Very spacious room with ample space for dog. Great location in countryside. Amazing breakfasts! Hosts are great. Very helpful and friendly.
Cons: Bed was very, very soft! Would likely suit most people though. There is nothing else that we did not like.
8.0 Excellent
Pros: Lovely setting and room
Cons: Cold bath in the evening
8.3 Excellent
Pros: Unusual. Bags of space. Lovely rural location.
Cons: On the flight path to RAF Marham, so some jet noise which is either exciting (my view) or irritating, depending on you point of view. Quiet in the evenings.

Pros: Location great as we needed to stay in this area over night.

Cons: Needs updating
5.8 Okay
Pros: Decent size single room. Convenient location. Proper fruit salad at breakfast.
Cons: On a warm evening, the temperature in the room was stiffling. Noisy at 6.30am.
8.3 Excellent
Pros: Location was excellent for what I needed, the staff very friendly and helpful. Wonderful to have a bath and, the bed was an excellent size.
Cons: Very hard mattress, and it felt like the pillows had no filling to them
8.0 Excellent
Pros: Location was ideal for what I was looking, some way towards a customer meeting in Norwich and an hour from the work office I had been visiting. Breakfast was good, but good selection. May be a little more fruit on offer, but I'm sure that would have been topped up if other guests had offered themselves for helpings
Cons: Bar area could have been bigger, but with an old building what else could you do. However, there were other rooms and also an outside area I could have used to eat. Would the hotel consider air conditioning, it was extremely hot over the duration of my stay, however I would suggest this area would usually get relatively warm in the summer months?
9.3 Excellent
Pros: Comfy bed, very helpful staff, outside smoking area
Cons: Shower didn’t run well, had to bath instead
8.8 Excellent
Cons: The shower. It was impossible to get a constant temperature kept going hot(very hot) and cold
8.8 Excellent
Pros: The staff were very friendly and easy to find.
Cons: The door locks were foolishly designed, as they behaved differently from common locks of similar appearance.
