10.0 Excellent
Pros: Lovely staff great nights sleep will be back
9.5 Excellent
Pros: The location was excellent for our needs, as we were in need of a stopping point on the way to Dublin Airport the next morning. Ardee is a great town for dinner, if needed. Though we didn't have time to explore, there are a number of things to do in the area, including an "ecological trail" just on the other edge of Tallanstown. Anne and Gerard were excellent hosts, and the breakfast was to die for, especially the French press coffee.
Cons: Honestly, I can't recommend any improvements.

Pros: We stayed at Broadacre Farm for a wedding at Bellingham Castle. Breda and her family were so welcoming and Bredas daughter went above & beyond and kindly dropped us to the castle after we had checked in. The cooked breakfast the following morning was so tasty and Bredas homemade soda bread and strawberry jam were both to die for. I would definitely stay at Broadacre Farm again.

Breakfast was top notch, couldn't get enough homemade brown bread. Great place, highly recommend!

Hatch's Castle - Stabannan - Building
6
8.4 Excellent (39 reviews)
Overview Reviews
Walking inside Hatch's castle on the Main Street of Ardee is a feeling of space and tranquility. From that moment you know you have entered a castle that is waiting to be explored. There are four floors, each boasting character and an ambiance of true charm and comfort. Ground floor entrance hall with dome ceiling is also used as a dinning room 1st floor Has a Drawing room with an open fire. Here you can help yourself to a drink, relax, read and unwind. Breakfast can be served here in the large window over looking the Main Street. The 2nd and 3rd floor have a bedroom and private bathroom each. It is possible to see Ardee and its surrounding countryside from the roof. There is a cobble stone yard to sit in and a walled garden to enjoy during the summer months. Find out more on my Facebook page Hatch's Castle.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: A lovely, welcoming host. The castle was toasty and comfortable despite the cold temperatures outside. The breakfast was lovely especially the brown bread and fresh fruit.
9.5 Excellent
Pros: Felt a little like a home from home, more like a boutique hotel than a B&B. If you like historic buildings, this is quite a kick to stay in. Watch out for the spiral stairs though, not for anyone with disabilities or poor legs.
8.3 Excellent
Pros: Battlements through the bedroom window Thanks to Nikki for taking the cases up the spiral staircase. A real experience
7.5 Good
Pros: Castle is in a great location in the centre of Ardee. Also, it is really cool staying in a castle which was a definite positive. Property had lots of old world charm and the owner was very nice. Drawing room is very cosy when the fire is light. Great view from rooftop.
Cons: While it is a very nice castle, I feel that some improvements could be made. Accepting that a castle is old and has its own quirks and charm, cleanliness could be improved. There were lots of cobwebs around the property. Also the bath in our room had rust in it. It would be nice if the bathroom contained shower gel and either liquid hand wash or new soap, rather than old bars of soap that had been used by other people. Breakfast could also be improved - greater choice would be welcome (for example, a couple of eggs could be cooked rather than just leaving a box of eggs by a frying pan by the cooker). TV remote batteries did not work so could not turn on the TV in room.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Great location. Property is steeped in history - since Cromwellian times. Worth reading up on before staying. Very enthusiastic host.
6.8 Good
Pros: It’s a castle!! Good location right in town. Nice sheets, towels and good shower. Interesting rooms, spaces for guests to use. Good wifi....
Cons: Needs attention to detail with cleaning, I know old buildings are difficult to keep clean but I have visited others that were very well kept. Did not do the breakfast offered as it was a do-it-yourself, which I don’t normally mind, but what was on offer was less than basic, including no juice.
9.5 Excellent
Pros: Very quirky place to stay
9.3 Excellent
Pros: The old castle is unique, we had the place to ourselves as it’s not overly busy out of holiday season. Very friendly staff who made us feel welcome and allowed us to explore onto the keep.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: It was a real castle.
6.3 Good
Pros: Comfy and quirky place, with a good location and lots to do locally, WiFi was good and overall the accommodation is good but badly let down by breakfast.
Cons: No breakfast provided, there was only standard breakfast cereal but sour milk, so i would have had to have them dry with nothing to drink, unless you like black tea / coffee, worst attempt at breakfast in the some 800+ places I have stayed at...Heating was also slow to come on and can’t be adjusted in the room so found it cold in the evening.
