A great place to stay in Machachi! Thank you so much!

Very reasonable prices as well. They gave us a small parting gift which our kids loved. Overall 100% recommendable!

Pros: The hacienda is stunningly beautiful and the views from our bedroom window were amazing. Cotopaxi is very fickle about showing itself and being able to check on the clouds minute by minute in order to get that photo was great. Los mortinos is considerably more attractive than Tambopaxi
Cons: It is very expensive for Ecuador even taking into account the quality and remoteness.

8.0 Excellent
Pros: The hospitality is very good: friendly and helpful staffs, the roses were very memorable
Cons: Not all staffs can speak English, such as room boy, door man that make some difficulties to communicate. But even we can't communicate well, the staffs are trying hard to help, appreciated it
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Breakfast was excellent - a good selection and the staff couldn't do enough to please. We paid an additional $65 (for the 3 of us) which meant we had unlimited access to floor 5 for breakfast, drinks, snacks and aperitifs in the evening which could easily double as dinner as there was so much food. After a week in the Galapagos the Marriott was clean, spacious and hyper efficient. Highly recommended.
6.2 Good
Pros: Food great! Had hamburguer, pizza, steak, some breakfast! Great!
Cons: Bath tub was not clean!! Low shower preasure! Pool to cold for wheather!! I asked if they could decorate the room with flowers, they refused!! Not a JW treatment!

Pros: Its really worth upgrading to the Exec floor. Great views and decent bites for dinner (we ate there each night!).
Cons: Location is so so, but there is no really good location in Quito as everything spread out. In fact you can walk back there from the shopping downtown, although better during the day. Taxis are fine (at least in our experience, but we were picky and speak Spanish).

10.0 Excellent
Pros: We stayed in club rooms in 10th floor. Cosy tasty breakfast with an amaizing staff. Airline lost my luggage. Hotel staff called several times to different nubers to solve our problem. We booked a car with driver from hotel to half day trip. It was safe, informative and not more expencive as with a taxi companie.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: My room was very nice and spacious. The staff was very professional but in a very kind and warm way making me really feel like at home. There was a TV with possibility to switch most of the channels to English which in a Spanish speaking country means a lot considering that all movies are dubbed. I travel a lot and visit a lot of 4 & 5 star hotels in my business trips. This is probable one of my best experiences so far.
Cons: Everything was just perfect
9.5 Excellent
Pros: Excellent all-round
Cons: Had to call staff up from reception to operate the hot tub in the spa.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: very clean extremely polite personnel beautiful bakery good value for the money meet my expectations to the fulest
8.0 Excellent
Pros: Usual Sheraton standards, good room, comfortable staying. Well located.
Cons: The hotel shows some signs of age. It's in very good condition but it shows that its not a new hotel. Price was expensive.
8.0 Excellent
Pros: Location is fantastic. It is in front of Quicentre shopping centre and is just the corner of Carolina Park. Felt very safe to walk in the area.
Cons: The water from the shower and the sink tap is very weak. Felt like mist coming down.

9.3 Excellent
Pros: Friendly staff, comfortable and clean room. Daily cleaning, fresh towels and everything! Great location. We would definitely stay here again.
Cons: Our first stay we had a room with a window on the hallway, which isn't ideal. Our second stay we had a room upstairs, which was a lot nicer. The kitchen could be a bit better equipped.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The breakfast was good. Fruit, yogurt and eggs prepared how you like. The room was very clean and it was nice having the private bathroom.
8.8 Excellent
Pros: The Hostel was really well located, close to San Blas and Old Town - with plenty of cool bars around. It was clean and had a super roof terrace, with view on the Basilica.
Cons: We slept in a room right next to the staircase, so it was super loud when people came by. Furthermore, everything is perfumized so it smells chemical
10.0 Excellent
Pros: everything is perfect. Couldn’t be better
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Stayed here for the second time and everything was really nice. I recommend!
Cons: Just a little noisy.
8.8 Excellent
Pros: Fast wifi, comfortable beds and bedding, hot water, easy to contact reception on whats app.
Cons: Courtyard is loud, area is very quiet in the evening.
9.5 Excellent
Pros: Everything was great, the bed are comfortable, the location is absolutely awesome: 15 minutes walk from the historic center and right near the national museum (near the new town). The breakfast is good, the bedrooms are clean! The landlord (Christian) is very nice!! Always ready to help!
Cons: It’s very loud. The walls are super thin so you hear everything that’s happening near your bedroom. We had a room near the road on our first night but the landlord changed it after our complaints! Do not hesitate to ask him before your stay!
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Clean, honest, authentic, location
Cons: Its soo squeeky clean ...without carpeting...the tiling becomes an audio amplifier
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Cycling south and Quito was my starting point. Was received with very friendly and helpful staff. They have a garage and storage so you can store your bike and build it. I arrived with a big box with my bike and all of my gear. The hotel was extremely clean and the rooms were comfortable. Breakfast is $5 but very good. The property is located in centro historico (historic center), and very close to anything you may want to see. The staff is friendly and will help you find anything you need. Highly recommend.
Cons: Only thing I disliked but didn’t bother me was that the windows are facing into the building. So no outside views and it can get noisy in the morning. But if you’re an early bird, it’s no problem.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Airport pickup fast and good with own taxi. Very clean spacious rooms, staff very friendly and professional. Most of them speak English. Good internet. Four blocks away there is a travel agency called CarpeDM. It's related to the hotel. Perfect organized tours. Quiet safe area. 10 min walk to Centro Historico.
Hotel Plaza Grande - Quito - Building
8
9.3 Excellent (699 reviews)
Overview Reviews
The Hotel Plaza Grande rises above Quito's central square, known as the Plaza de la Independencia. It was one of the first hotels ever constructed in the capital, and has been extensively renovated and remodeled to become the finest boutique hotel in the city. It is the ideal place from which to explore the wonders of this timeless city.Quito was declared a UNESCO "World Heritage Site" in 1978, thanks to its historic center, which is the largest and best preserved in Latin America. The colonial center of the Franciscan city of Quito is a treasure trove of baroque art and architecture, including buildings, churches, monasteries and narrow streets that reflect Ecuador's unique blend of indigenous and Spanish cultures.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Our suite was beautiful - very bright and spacious, with a great layout, high-quality furniture and a very comfortable bed that was a dream to sleep in. The breakfast was very good - quality food in sizeable portions, plus the fresh fruit juices were delicious. The service was impeccable - all staff members were extremely helpful and polite. I definitely recommend the hotel and look forward to coming back.
Cons: Nothing - everything was perfect.
9.5 Excellent
Pros: Location is fantastic. Food in the cafe is really good in the evening but breakfast is very slow and disappointing.
Cons: Breakfast.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Location was great. In the center of Old Town Historic District. Loved the hotel and the staff.
Cons: Nothing could have been better that the hotel has any control over. The downside is that the Plaza View room/s which we had are very noisy because of the people in the plaza. We arrived on a holiday weekend so there was celebration going on all weekend, but it didn't end on Monday--the noise continued everyday until we finally left. And the church bells tolled early in the mornings--sometimes 50 times. I didn't get much sleep. If I go again, I would like to try the back side of the hotel--the quieter side. But it is a lovely hotel and the staff was wonderful.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The staff was amazing and the location cation was incredible.
Cons: Pretty much everything.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The staff was great! We were met by name when we arrived at midnight and had great service the whole time. Alexander who ran the front desk was perfect.
9.5 Excellent
Pros: Centrally located in the old city made it good for walking around (and the recommended routes on the hotel map were very helpful). Service was excellent, as the staff was most helpful. We ate in both restaurants and the food was quite good; was surprised that there were so few other people dining. The ride to/from the airport is 45-60 minutes, depending on traffic. We arranged through the hotel for a car to transport us. Considering the length of the trip, the $45 cost was reasonable and worth it.
Cons: Because of its central location on the main old town square, it could be noisy late at night. We were awakened at 2 am one night by boisterous people in the square. Certainly not the hotel's fault, but light sleepers may want to take a room facing away from the square.
8.8 Excellent
Pros: Lovely rooms, amazing location & courteous staff
Cons: Nothing
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The best hotel in Quito
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The property is in a great location in historic Quito. The rooms are beautifully decorated and very clean. The staff was also extremely helpful and provided great service. We’d definitely stay here again.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Super location on the main plaza. Staff were extremely friendly and efficient. Our suit was spacious, elegant, comfortable and well served. Excellent Wifi.
Cons: Shower entry would be a challenge for infirm people.

9.5 Excellent
Pros: Our room was upgraded to a suite - an extremely comfortable one at that. The bed was large and very comfortable with wonderful pillows (and a pillow menu to boot!). Excellent service from all staff, particularly room service.
Cons: It’s not very near the main tourist attractions but honestly the taxis are fairly inexpensive so this didn’t really matter.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: we were given an upgrade to a suite. lots of space. we did not opt for breakfast.
Cons: the two toilets were hard to flush. we alerted staff and they were worked on after we left. one light bulb above makeup mirror was burned out.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Great service and fast check in, Stored luggage waiting for us in the room upon our arrival. We did not opt for breakfast, Ate at the Deli. They brought a scale to weigh suitcases to our room for us. Pool and jacuzzi terrific. Massage very good.
Cons: No complaints at all!
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The breakfast buffet is outstanding, the facilities are lovely, the bed firm but comfortable & every single staff member was friendly, helpful, welcoming and went beyond the call of duty.
Cons: Nothing,
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The pool is amazing. We took a water aerobics class that was fun and very good exercise. The teacher showed us all of the movements, knowing that we did not understand his Spanish instructions. When we checked in we were given an upgrade to a 1 bedroom suite and it was fabulous. We also enjoyed the room service and perks of being on the Executive floor (free drinks, breakfast, lunch & snacks, small buffet dinner). We even came back for another night we enjoyed it so much!
Cons: The buffet breakfast was great but unfortunately many of the other diners were watching movies on the cell phones or talking loudly on their phones. I realize that this isn't the fault of the hotel (people are just rude sometimes) but maybe something could be said? Probably not. Just wishful thinking.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: spread of breakfast good!
Cons: nil
9.3 Excellent
Pros: Amazing luxurious stay. Incredible spa, and beautiful comfortable room with a fabulous view across Quito! Very polite and helpful staff.
Cons: The outdoor pool was shut at strange times during the day which meant the cover was on, and then it wasn’t such a great place to sit, which was a bit of a shame, as it was otherwise very pretty in the courtyard
7.7 Good
Pros: I loved the facilities, great gym, spa and pool
Cons: Prices for food are way out of line. A juice was $10! Breakfast was $21 the cheapest one and not even Buffett. You could hear buses running by just outside the window, partying on the mezzanine was so loud you could hear the bass in the room.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Swimming pool, sauna, Turkish bath.
7.0 Good
Pros: The view
Cons: That it was a non smoking hotel
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The best place to stay in Quito. All the staff were excellent - very helpful and kind. we had an early check-in and an upgraded room. we wished we could have stayed longer. its in a quiet, safe area with plenty of restaurants near by.
Cons: nothing. its the best hotel to stay in
9.5 Excellent
Pros: Great hotel and I am returning guest. Staff and service was great. Very clean and all amenities in place. Meals were great.
Cons: A slight issue with the timing of valet service but it was ultimately corrected.

5.0 Okay
Pros: The staff was very nice and attentive. The location was close to some of the places we needed to get to.
Cons: Our room smelled very strongly of cigarette smoke. It was supposed to be a non-smoking room. My husband immediately let staff know. The owner of the property came. I have a very strong reaction to smoke. I developed a headache immediately. We told the owner, but he said there was no other room. He was very unsympathetic and asked my husband if I had anything I could take for pain. My husband told him that wasn’t the point. I shouldn’t have to take anything for pain. We had a reservation for 3 nights and the owner said he wasn’t going to have another room even for the next two nights. He pretty much told us all we could do was leave the windows open. He brought us a very small fan that was supposed to help move the air. We did leave the windows open until it got so cold we had to close them. Because the windows were open it was also extremely noisy since we faced out on the street. I could barely sleep. My sinuses started getting irritated and I kept coughing. The next morning we were told another room was available, but it was on the top floor (no elevator) and it was much smaller. My husband checked it. No smell, so we took the room, but the owner refused to reduce the price. He said we were moving because we asked for a different room, so no discount. The first room had a refrigerator which barely worked, a microwave that didn’t work, and the hair dryer barely worked. The second room didn’t have anything. Even the tv wouldn’t turn on. There was a microwave outside the room, but no refrigerator, so the food we’d bought couldn’t be properly stored and we ended up having to throw it away. My husband did ask for and received a hair dryer.
9.3 Excellent
Pros: Perfect stay for the end of our trip through Ecuador. Staff and owner are super super kind and helpfull, breakfast is good, room was clean and comfy. Would deninitly stay here again!
Cons: Very few places to eat nearby.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Unbelievable hospitable owners and staff Great volcano view Clean & quite
Cons: No
9.5 Excellent
Pros: Really recommend to stay here. The staff was super friendly and helpful. Everything was very smooth - from payment, extending stay to laundry. It is not so central but cab is cheap and there are some restaurants in the area and an atm within walking distance. Spacious and clean room, however it got a little bit cold during the night. Internet was fast in the common areas, where the signal was better.
8.8 Excellent
Pros: Location, friendliness of staff, able to leave luggage whilst travelling to variety of locations, quiet neighbourhood - away from main tourist melee. Returned four times in our month travelling around Ecuador.
8.3 Excellent
Pros: The hotel arranged to pick us up at the airport for a very reasonable price. The plane was delayed by an hour yet the driver was still waiting patiently for us. Check-in even at 2:00 am was fast and efficient. The room was spacious and clean. Lots of cupboard space. The bed was comfortable. The bathroom was clean and functional. The kitchen was adequate with a microwave and some dishes. It would not be suitable for cooking a regular meal though. It's a good location with a number of good restaurants close by. Be aware that most restaurants in this area close by 7 pm. You will need to take a cab to the historic centre. Most times, the fare was around $3 (US), a very reasonable rate. A couple of drivers charged us double that (but this is not the hotel's fault). Breakfast was good. Eggs are freshly cooked the way you want them. Lots of fresh fruit, juice and coffee. The staff were really helpful. The manager spoke excellent English and gave us lots of useful advice.
Cons: Hot water takes a long time to arrive, plan on running taps or the shower 4 to 5 minutes. The internet speed was variable. At certain times of the day, it was almost unusable, other times it was fine.
9.5 Excellent
Pros: It felt like a home. There are nice comfortable living rooms on each floor with a fireplace and sofas. There is also some public space to relax on the main floor (a living room and a dining area). The free breakfast was great (fresh squeezed juice, fruit, eggs, coffee..etc). The staff was excellent and helped me with my local SIM card and calling taxis.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Staff was great, breakfast was good, eggs, toast sausage, coffee, juice and fruit.
9.3 Excellent
Pros: Breakfast was good. Location not so good
Cons: None
9.3 Excellent
Pros: Santiago and his staff were super friendly and helpful. He arranged for taxis, called in food orders and gave us helpful travel tips. We also enjoyed the breakfasts.
Cons: Only two negatives. There wasn’t much hot water. You could take a normalish shower, but if you enjoy a little extra time under a hot stream, you’ll be a little disappointed. Also the bathroom didn’t have a vent or window, so odors and steam lingered. Not a huge problem for us, but worth noting.

Pros: The hotel is very beatifully decorated and the staff very friendly. There are many restaurants around. The breakfast was very good.
Cons: The double bed was a bit small for 2 persons. Light was coming in the room from a small window somthing that woke me up in early morning.

Cons: Breakfast has to start early. IT IS A SUGGESTION. 7 IS TOO LATE. IDEAL TIME IS 6:30AM.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Food was great! Staff was so nice and accommodating.
8.3 Excellent
Pros: The location is very nice, with very little street noise. We stayed in an interior room (16) and it was comfortable for the most part. The bathroom was small, but we had hot water, which is sometimes iffy. The breakfast was very good - generous with eggs, ham, and cheese, toast, butter, jam, fruit, and yogurt with granola, as well as coffee and tea. The staff were nice, especially the little lady who served breakfast.
Cons: We could hear everything that the people in the next room said, which was disappointing. Luckily, they were Scandinavian so we couldn't understand their conversation. Still, I did not appreciate the lack of privacy or the noise.
6.8 Good
Pros: The staff are incredibly nice and helpful. They booked us a taxi at an ungodly hour and allowed us to store our bags for the rest of the day upon check-out. The location is good if you are into the Foch plaza stuff: bars, meh food, etc. Be warned that Sunday nights there are few restaurants available.
Cons: The property deliberately does NOT post photos of all the standard double rooms. They only show the nicest ones that are in the main house. My partner and I splurged on our long-term trip to stay here based on the photos online, which we regretted. Our actual room was small and crammed, in the back of the additional house with none of the character of the photos. The bed was hard as a rock and the pillows were uncomfortable. There are much better options available.

Cons: They put me out , waiting for my new reservation , even iam telling them that i will stay more nights.
6.8 Good
Pros: Large room.
Cons: No room service available after 9:00 pm. Location Not convenient for shopping or restaurants with the exception of fast food outlets in the building. Requested through booking.com an early arrival. I had had an accident that morning due to a landslide during our travel from Tena to Quito. Injured and dirty, the staff said they did not get the request from booking.com Although this hotel was practically empty, they did not want to allow me an early check-in without paying for it. After much discussion, I was finally allowed early check-in.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The room
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Excellent breaKfast! Rooms are huge and clean! Staff is very friendly. We had no issues. Also, we requested airport pick up from the hotel which was also flawless, Sr. Marco Puente. We ended up using the same guy for our day trips in Quito and beyond. He was very knowledgeable friendly and professional. Drive very safely. Leaving his name and contact information here +593 997 708 190 on whatsup. Highly recommended this hotel and Quito in general!
9.5 Excellent
Pros: The staff is kind and attentive, the breakfast is plenty and varied, the hotel modern.
Cons: Each room needs a full, body sized mirror, since running to the lobby where there is a nice large mirro doesn’t work for getting dressed everyday. The bathrooms need brighter lighting as I had to go sit near the window to apply makeup. And the beds are too firm!!

Staff were friendly and let me use the hotel's washing machines to do my laundry which saved me a lot of hassle.
Cons: Kitchen was a bit understocked. No oil, no kettle, had to ask the staff for a frying pan. WiFi was slow in the rooms and kitchen but great in the lobby/patio/cafe.

Pros: The hacienda main house is converted to private rooms with large open family areas, this would be a great family retreat spot. As a couples location it was also very nice. You get a farm experience but with great views and excellent meals.
Cons: Poor Wi-Fi signal in rooms, but very good connection in common areas
10.0 Excellent
Pros: High recommendation! Great breakfast, fantastic view on the mountains. Great dinner (we had it three times and it was very good). Very friendly and helpful owners/family and staff. We did a horse riding tour in the mountains which is very recommendable! Every day they lit the fireplace which is very cosy!
Cons: Shower is not very comfortable (weak ray and not very hot). Water is brownish. Light in the room could have been better, but hey we were on a farm. They are improving these things right now, so very recommendable stay!
8.0 Excellent
Cons: We found the value of the property wanting. It is one of the more expensive places in the area and we were very surprised they did NOT state the $16.40 additional charge to use the hot tub. Perhaps a sign stating the extra charge would be a good idea. Additionally, although the property description says they "speak our language", we repeatedly stated we did not want two dinners, we were charged for them. We did notify the property requesting an adjustment and to their credit, they said would do so, but to date no adjustment has been received.
9.3 Excellent
Pros: Views of the surrounding volcanos were unbelievable. It is a working farm and they will let you milk a cow and or feed a calf. There is a game room with pool, table tennis and darts. The rooms are located in old stables and are very neat. The hacienda itself is available to rent. They have a huge very well equipped restaurant and have a large holiday and weekend business there.
Cons: Off main road a few kilometers. Roads are rough stone. Altitude was over 10,000 ft. We both struggled to catch our breath at times. But they really don’t control those issues
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Location, hospitality, food, everything. Fantastic little dairy farm with lots of animals horse riding day trips to Cotopaxi and Quilitoa can be organised
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Very unique place which provides a great atmosphere and good value for money.
8.3 Excellent
Pros: Really nice hotel on a special location. Nice food and staff.
Cons: It was cold when we were there and the shower was not ideal.
9.3 Excellent
Pros: The staff is amazing, very kind and helpful. The landscape around the place is really nice, peaceful and naturally gifted with some nice views to volcanoes. The food is also good and the kitchen staff is always ready to help. There are some farm activities which my kids loved.
Cons: Not an issue, but the house could be upgraded a bit. We went over the weekend when there were some carnival in the near by town and due to that we could not have any horse ride. They should have mentioned that in the web page for the visitors to be aware and plan different activities.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Beautiful property, large, beautiful, comfortable, rooms and grounds, excellent restaurant, historic & lovely common areas, attentive & patient staff.

Cons: We booked two airport transfers and they forgot about us for one of them (the other went smoothly). It seems like you really have to remind them over WhatsApp to pick you up. Overall, we loved everything else so it's hard to take off points over a $15 taxi

Pros: Hotel is perfect to relax in an overnight stay from the airport, staff are helpful and place is tidy. Sauna and spa were great. Free airport transfers were smooth. Beds and bedding very comfortable.

Pros: Beautiful rooms
Cons: Horrible customer service. In the end they sneakily charged me more than what was agreed and refused to pay back the difference in amount, even though I have receipts. There are other beautiful hotels in Quito that will treat you a lot better. I won't be back here.
7.5 Good
Cons: Background music at the lobby too loud and poorly selected. If needed, instrumental music is much more suitable, Restaurant area too noisy,

9.5 Excellent
Pros: The decoration, the details on everything. Great breakfast.
Cons: I don,t know.
7.0 Good
Pros: Stayed here as part of our honeymoon for 1 night pre-Galapagos islands and 2 nights post. Decor is lovely, turn-down service includes a nice hot water bottle and they decorated our room with floors on the first night.
Cons: Overall not impressed for the money we spent and would never stay there again. Breakfast was very poor but the staff at the front desk overcharged us on both occasions we stayed there. On each occasion they argued with us, scoffed at us and were generally very smug.... before realising that we were correct and refunding us. It was just very unpleasant!
10.0 Excellent
Cons: We saw the manager treating badly the staff, despite the fact that the staff was doing an excellent job. The manager is very rude and she shouldn't treat like crap the staff.
9.5 Excellent
Pros: Large lovely room, comfortable bed, excellent view, fresh flowers, quiet, very kind staff members, coffee maker in room, complimentary bottles of water, large closet with drawers and good location!
Cons: Can't think of anything I'd change! Thank you!

Cons: The room was quite cold, street noise not well isolated.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The staff was really helpful and amazing.
Cons: I think that the breakfast is expensive in comparison with the food and some other offers near by the hotel.
