Pros: A brilliant quiet location with excellent bedroom and bathroom facilities . Wifi and parking were great and breakfast with scrambled egg option was wonderful. Our hostess could not have been more charming and helpful
Cons: The property is very large and signage to reception or a bell on arrival would have been useful. The room price was a little on the expensive side but this might have been due to over demand because of 75th D Day celebrations
10.0 Excellent

Pros: The property is lovely - really thoughtfully done. I found it to be ideal for accommodation for a wedding. The highlights were the hosts (who are fabulously kind and thoughtful. The hosts cannot do enough to accommodate.

The house is an old building in excellent condition with its original stones and tiles. The location is perfect to walk to the restaurants nearby. The room and the bathroom are functionals and very clean. The breakfast is excellent with home made and bio products.

10.0 Excellent
Pros: The three of us, taking two bedrooms between us , stayed at Bruce Castle for 4 nights in August 2019, and there was much to enjoy. The marvellous breakfast, (and we had 4) , was an experience in itself. with fresh rolls and croissants delicous home made jams, home baked tart, etc etc, all served by the host Hugh along with amusing conversation. His charming wife Rose had served us tea in the garden when we arrived tired from the journey. On the whole a balance of welcoming homely comfort and luxury, but with space to ourselves to relax and enjoy their lovely home undisturbed. The interesting chateau style house full of history and antiques, spacious airy bedrooms, comfy beds, immaculate bathrooms, all serviced every day to a 5* standard. The location is excellent, on the fringe of Brix a typical French quiet village, yet close to the N13 highway for access to Cherbourge only 15 mins and accessing the Normandy region. Will definitely go again. We are frequent travellers around the world and would highly recommend Bruce Castle
Cons: It was perfect, just a pity we had to leave.

Cons: There was nothing I didnt like. All was wonderful.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: We only stayed for one night as we were travelling around the Normandy/ Brittany region. We would have liked to stay longer. Bruce Castle is very impressive and stands in its own grounds. We received a very warm welcome on our arrival and enjoyed a welcome drink from the owners. After a long day's travel we enjoyed a good night's sleep. Bruce Castle is very well appointed and we felt like the French aristocracy when we ate our breakfast. Our hosts waved us off on our travels. We would return if we ever pass by Cherbourg again.

9.3 Excellent
Pros: Very quiet hide away
Cons: Small beds
9.5 Excellent
Pros: A lovely chateau. We stayed in the room in the chateau which is like going back in time; real character to it, with period furniture. The breakfast was excellent and the hostess is absolutely charming, friendly and delightful. Excellent value for money.
Cons: The bath/shower is a little outdated now, but perhaps one expects this in an old chateau! It would not stop us definitely re-booking it.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The atmosphere was beautiful, nicely presented, warm, welcoming and comfortable. Charming, incredibly helpful host who speaks excellent English.
Cons: Was a little bit difficult to find - would prefer more signposts to guide me in, though hosts were as helpful as could be in this regard by phone... coming and getting me!
7.0 Good
Pros: Beautiful chateau set in quiet, rural grounds which suited us for our planned route of travel.
Cons: Accommodation is not in the Chateau, it’s in the old stable block round the back. Tea/coffee facilities in our room were poor, no teaspoons, no milk, no biscuits. Breakfast was set at a beautiful table in the Chateau, but is continental style.
9.5 Excellent
Pros: Beautiful room in chateau. The hosts are very friendly and helpful.
9.5 Excellent
Pros: Our stay was perfect. The Chateau is attractive, with lots of character (including octagonal and round towers, and a tiny private chapel) and is in a very peaceful setting. Our hostess was charming and could not do enough for us. She gave us an excellent tip for dinner (the nearby Auberge). Breakfast was copious, and served in a homely setting. We can recommend the Chateau whole-heartedly
Cons: -
9.5 Excellent
Pros: The owner was charming, delightful and very helpful and made us very welcome. The chateau was stunning as was our room, oozing class and period charm. Rather than go to a restaurant, we sat in the chateau grounds, opened a bottle of very fine wine we had with us, some digestive biscuits, yes you read that properly, and some fine French cheese. Memories are made of such experiences. The best continental breakfast ever was served in a beautiful room, choice of 2 rooms. It was only a stopover on the way to our French house, but will remain as one of the nicest experiences on our travels. VERY HIGHLY RECOMMEND! Edward and Annette
Cons: What’s not to like? We are very fussy guests but this establishment was super. Sorry, but no adverse comments.

Pros: 17th century Manor House in quiet location set in extensive gardens.

7.5 Good
Pros: Could not fault the place. Friendly staff. Imposing building and grounds. Tasty breakfast.
Cons: The only draw back was the lugging of the suitcases from the car into the room up a fair few beautiful segment marble stone steps. Not their fault. We are getting too old for loads of stairs. A young bell boy would have been handy.

Pros: The place is incredible. It is an old chateu located in a scenic countryside of Noramdie. We felt completely at home and at the same time being in an old-time France. Hosts and their nice cats welcomed us as wormly as possible. Our apologize for late arrival again!
7.5 Good
Pros: The room was ample and the beds so comfortable.
Cons: Entering through the porch of the owners house, I think really to take us through the door by the reception desk would have made first impressions better. There was a strange smell going through the porch which I now think was vegetables.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Beautiful house and great location. Hosts were very friendly and welcoming. Very clean and an excellent breakfast!
Cons: Nothing
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Although my family and I stayed there only one night we had a great time. The rooms were big and very cozy, I was fascinated the moment I crossed the door. As for the breakfast we were left speechless - everything was so well organized, the atmosphere was brilliant and we left with very good memories of Pierre and Corinne and their 900-year-old house.
Cons: I think there is nothing someone wouldn't like in that house
9.5 Excellent
Pros: Friendly hosts who spoke good English. Very comfy bed, large bedroom and bathroom. Beautiful setting in a 900 year old house. A really lovely rustic French ambience and decor.

Pros: Nice garden with lot of animals (hens, donkey, geese). Beautiful place hidden in the nature.
9.5 Excellent
Pros: We thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The hostess was welcoming and friendly. It was very quiet and the room was dark enough. The setting was lovely and the rooms were beautiful and comfortable.
Cons: The bathroom was a little dark for doing my makeup, but otherwise, it was very convenient. The hostess told us that the heater in the room was broken. It wasn’t a problem for us, because we were visiting during the summer. Also, we had a problem with the temperature control on the shower (scalding hot) and let the hostess know there was a problem. I am sure those two issues will be fixed immediately. The hostess seems very conscientious.
9.3 Excellent
Pros: Wonderful traditional french farm house in a remote quiet green place, beautiful! Relaxed and cozy stay, the hostess made us feel absolutely at home. Very dog-friendly, loads of beautiful land for walkies. There is a very sweet donkey in the yard! The house is just 5 minutes drive from the sea and there you can see gorgeous low-tides and collect mussles. Beautiful experience!
9.3 Excellent
Pros: Wonderful location, so peaceful. The property can best be described as a small manor house with work in progress. The accommodation is spacious and well done if a the little on the quirky side. Michéle the owner, speaks good English, could not have been more delightful and served up the most amazing breakfast - her jams alone are worth going back for. The grounds are neat and tidy like the rest of this delightful area. The bed was very comfortable and her recommendation for a local restaurant excellent. We would have no hesitation in going back.
Cons: A few minor points: 1. We found the shower temperature control was stuck on hot; Michèle was mortified and immediately called the plumber - what is they say about French plumbing! 2. Being English we like our tea but the remains is all that I can call them in the tea tray were pitiful. Could easily have been rectified but only found this out 30 mins before breakfast so not really a problem. 3. Wi-Fi when we managed to log on was so slow - reverted to the mobile phone signal which worked fine.

10.0 Excellent
Pros: Wow - we were truly wowed by Chateau Le Val. We arrived very tired on a Bank Holiday, on our motorbike, thirsty and hungry and Franc looked after us royally - a wonderful host. Such a beautiful place, traditionally styled, great location, comfy bed. The quirky, giant Dovecote (honesty bar) was amazing, - including the fact that we could park our motorbike safely in there overnight! We cannot wait to go back. Thank you for looking after us.
Cons: Nothing, except perhaps a bedside table on both sides of the bed.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: What an amazing place - it's not every day you get to stay in a chateau! We arrived later than planned on our bicycles, and our host made sure we had everything we needed - nothing was too much trouble. Stayed there with friends & we'd all definitely come back!!

Pros: From our arrival here we were made feel so welcome. Our host Frank was so warm and friendly. The Chateau is amazing taking you back in time to a different era. Our children loved the authentic feel to the surroundings. Beautiful gardens, amazing comfy beds, generous breakfast etc etc. We will be staying here again and will encourage our friends to do likewise....and so near Cherbourg and Normandy....We went to the American cemetery only 40 mins drive away. Stay here....you will be so glad you did.
Cons: Nothing
10.0 Excellent
Pros: What a place! We rather fell in love with Chateau Le Val, and had a wonderful stay. Very much looking forward to returning. Lovely atmosphere, beautiful location, excellent breakfast.
9.5 Excellent
Pros: A one-night experience of time travel and only 20 minutes from the Cherbourg ferry. The Chateau has held on to its past and is full of atmosphere. Our host was charming - and also brave, having survived a nasty recent injury while tackling the stonework with a large electric drill. We were sorry to have missed him when we left in the morning while he was having a check-up but our conversations with him were a delight. The bed was extremely comfortable. If you avoid the bland and prefer a touch of eccentricity, this is the place for you.
Cons: Nothing.

Cons: Nothing.

Cons: Hotel not open until 5 pm contrary to what was written in Info. Rooms supposed to be 12 sq . Mts. As was stated in info . Ours approx 12 x 5/6? . Double bed pushed against wall so only accessible from one side.Di
7.5 Good
Pros: Clean rooms and friendly people .
Cons: The double bed was pushed to the wall which made for athletic antics to get in and out during the night .
8.8 Excellent
Pros: quiet neighborhood, clean room
Cons: nothing to do in the town
8.3 Excellent
Pros: very attentive staff. Downstairs looks very grand but rooms on the second floor a bit dated.
6.8 Good
Pros: The breakfast was poor - see below. The location near the centre of the town was good. Parking was easy.
Cons: The breakfast may best be described as meagre. The atmosphere in the breakfast room was like that of a dentist's waiting room. The cereals available amounted to two jars with about 3 cm of cereal in the bottom of each. The bread was thin slices unsuitable for toasting. The croissants were tiny. It was not worth the charge of 9 Euros each. The decor was tired and needed considerable refreshing. Reception was closed when we arrived and another guest made a phone call and the door was unlocked. Not a good impression to start with.

4.5 Okay
Pros: Room was large (no 15 ), and shower and hot water worked well. Breakfast was nice one croissant each, baguette and cheese and our own jug of orange juice, could have done with a few more plates and spare knives to cut the cheese and baguettes. Reasonable price.
Cons: Firstly it was awkward to find even using the sat nav . Can't check in until 5.30 pm which was a bit annoying as felt had to kill time waiting for it to open. Once in the room which was accessed by a large spiral ancient staircase, which I found difficult as I use a walking stick, there was a very unpleasant smell coming from the toilet and it turned out that the bathroom bin had not been emptied .We alerted the proprieteur and she was very apologetic and gave us 2 beers to compensate, However we found out that there was no food available as it was a Sunday night and no where on this site was that mentioned, we had to go into the town and find the one and only restaurant that WAS open and luckily got there before it was absolutely packed !! Also they did NOT speak English as stated on the website. Noisy outside in the street until about 1 am with motorcycles, cars and dogs barking! Windows very old so not designed to shut properly.
4.5 Okay
Cons: We didn´t like the place. Dirty and empty buildings around. Unkempt garden - itś a pitty, receptionist didn´t even try to speak english. Unfortunately I was disappointed.
6.8 Good
Pros: Location, excellent restaurant.
Cons: Advertised as speaking some English, there was none spoken, and our shower was minute. Also no allowances made for travellers with limited mobility
7.0 Good
Pros: Interesting, quirky old building.
Cons: Access a bit awkward and difficult to find.
6.3 Good
Pros: Charm and character in abundance. This was not an expensive hotel and so expectations were not high. It is basic. The owner spoke no English, now as it is in France this is not a criticism but unusual. His son spoke some English. Parking was good as it is under cover in a large barn. Breakfast was disappointing, One croissant, some bread and yoghurt. The coffee was good though. Once I finished my croissant the condiments placed on the table, Evening meal was nice and not too expensive.
Cons: Couldn't check in until 5.30pm as the owner was not there.
