Old historic building with modern amenities. Short walk to the Riverwalk and great restaurants It was all good, must valet car which was understandable for the repurposed building
Great design. Looks very upscale. No parking. Must use meter to park on the street or pay for valet service. The faucet and shower handle were not installed properly and were loose.
The lobby and rooms were nicely appointed. Probably one of the nicer lobbies I've seen - really pleasant to just hang out in. The echoes and slightly dim lighting of the hallways reminded me of elementary school and just didn't give me the luxury vibe. The lighting room also gives it a rather downbeat feeling. I think some bright sconce lighting in both halls and rooms would really give some much needed energy without compromising the historical gravity of the re-purposed courthouse.
- The hotel is built into an old US courthouse, which is very pretty and well executed. It felt like a high-end boutique hotel. - The room was exceptionally clean, and the decor was nice and modern. - The location of the hotel was great. A quick ride or walk to anywhere downtown. - The price and value of the hotel relative to where it is, and what you get is pretty good. I felt this was the nicest hotel for the price. - The hotel was a bit difficult to navigate when first arriving. The entrance is around the Zack side, not on the Florida side that is advertised as actual address. Once we got our bearings it was better. - The hotel bar advertises a daily happy hour, however in practice the hotel bar was never open, nor was there any staff there. - The restaurant was good in theory, but execution was lacking. The egg breakfast I got tasted horrible and had to be sent back. The other food was pretty good, but the service was complete rubbish. - The hotel is a bit sparse and lifeless, and hotel staff were hard to find.
Modern and beautiful rooms are spacious and staff is great
It was a last minute plan to stay in downtown Tampa. This place was GREAT!! The staff were awesome, the rooms were very comfy and the amenities were pleasing. Parking was a little interesting as there is no onsite parking but because they offer 24 hour valet and your already downtown with lots to do, its not so bad.
Loved the high ceilings and the fact they kept a lot of the details of the old use of the building. Great ambiance, food, bar. etc.
The hotel was very nice in appearance and the front office staff was extremely pleasant and inviting. Check-in / Check-out was very quick and professionally handled. The lobby bar service was exceptional and the Bartender, Rod, was fantastic. He handled a large group of people efficiently and friendly. The rooms were large and decorated nicely. Upon first entry everything looked like it was going to be great. Those were the highlights of the stay. Unfortunately, you could see the massive renovations that were recently completed were either finished in haste or by a group of inexperienced contractors. The floors were extremely uneven and lumpy, the bathrooms tiles were uneven and the shower faucet was not even attached to the wall. The grout in the shower tile was mostly falling apart. Paint and finish work would also be seen as shoddy by someone even without appreciation to detail. Remember, this is supposed to be a stay in a luxury boutique hotel so guests should expect more for the rates charged. The bed was the hardest bed I ever "slept" in, not much sleeping because we were so uncomfortable. I can't begin to explain how hard it was but I actually contemplated laying on the lumpy floor at one point. Amazingly, no breakfast is served at this hotel and it's not in a great location to just walk next door. The lowlight was The Sapphire Room, we attended a private party there. We found the bartenders there to be rude and overwhelmed. Food was good but not great and at the end of the night, "friends of the hotel owners" (AKA, the bartenders friends) raided our food table. When confronted about the food raid, the group at least stopped eating but then the bartender told us that he would call the cops if we started any trouble and that they were friends. Certainly, one of the most ridiculous scenes I've ever experienced and the Manager was of no help. Needless to say, we will not be returning to this place for any reason. I must say, I found it difficult to rate this hotel because there really were some great things about it but the bad outweighed the good that swayed me to the two star rating. This place has so much potential but falls short of standing up to the many surrounding Downtown Tampa hotels there are to choose from. Look elsewhere if you want comfort and service.
I liked the historic feel of the hotel. Poor check in experience. We were checked into a room already occupied and walked in on young lady. Parking was difficult as we did not get straight forward answer of where the overflow lot was located. There were not any basic amenities in the room such as coffee or additional glassware.
I loved the delicious lunch I had in the gorgeous dining room Nothing
The location is centric to Tampa. The staff member at the front desk did not have the level of customer service that I expected. He was not impolite, however, he did not have the politeness that hotel customer service agents normally have. I almost felt that I had walked in to a motel 8.
