Chic hotel with very friendly staff ( something that Italian/Scilian hotel staff are not noted for ) Nothing was too much trouble, not only for us but for all guests some of which were very demanding.
Beautiful, tastefully appointed hotel. Ultra modern accommodations in a Sicillian village that blossoms with antiquity. The restaurant is fine, but visitors are in the center of a town where one cannot find a bad meal; only, as Rick Steves phrases it, better.
Very modern and stylish hotel, nice location, in walking distance to pedestrian zone Very small rooms
Superb hotel overall .Great location .Spotlessly clean. Very friendly and helpful staff, Great breakfast freshly cooked to your requirements.. Size of the balconies.
Well-designed boutique hotel, friendly and helpful staff. Restaurant is an undiscovered jewel. Self-parking facility is non-existent at the hotel. Parking in the garage is expensive.
Everything We called the hotel for directions from the road. Had they told us that they were the only modern looking hotel on the mountain , right after you pass through the main square and that it had a glass front on the right not the left we would have saved over an hour trying to find the place.
The hotel is brand new. Rooms are clean and comfortable. The staff is really helpful. If one arrives by car, it is advisable to book a parking place in advance.
Very comfortable, delightful staff, close to shops and sights. I am returning for a night at the end of the month. I liked everything
The staff were very helpful and friendly The food was very expensive. "Ceasar's Salad" comprising Lettuce ,sauce and a few croutons was €17.A very high standard of food was available in any of the restaurants locally for half the price. The Hotel lacked athmosphere as there were only a handful of people staying there the week we were there.
excelent hotel with amazing sea veiws & gardens in Toarmino
Wonderful hotel in a very historic building that they have preserved extremely well. The location in Taormina is ideal, and the views are fantastic. Lovely garden. The staff are extremely attentive --especially for Sicily where staff training is often so-so. The restaurant, Principe Cerami, is well worth the price and deserves its Michelin rating. Breakfast, the lunch restaurant, and the bar are all very high quality. They will park your car for you and bring it when you need it. This is very useful in Taormina where parking is otherwise difficult.
Bedroom too small x price requested. For lunch only restaurant open Pool- site. Price for in hotel drinks-food exorbitant. Ambient excellent, gardens super.
The location is perfect. The building has a nice atmosphere and the service is what can be expected from a hotel in this price range. The room was small for a room in this price range. The food and beverages were unpleasantly expensive.
the perfect hospitality; delightful staff; great pool ; very beautiful surroundings and understated elegance. no
Location, cortesia dello staff, ottimo servizio e rapporto qualità-prezzo (upgrade gratuito in una splendida suite)
The service was excellent and breakfast very good. The restaurants are excellent but on the expensive side. Sell the house before eating by the pool. The cost of extras is very high, the rooms and general decor very tired with cheap rather nasty furniture in the rooms, the pool is right on an exit route out of town so is noisy. Good hotel that's seen its best years.
Staff is excellent and could not be more helpfull and patient, location perfect just minutes away from via Umberto, food good but I had better. Pool area is not good for children pool too deep and too quite.
Perfectly sited for getting into Taormina with stunning views of Etna from a gorgeously positioned garden. A very wonderful building. Everything was ridiculously expensive (even for Taormina!) so we didn't use any facilities other than the room itself and the gym. 9 Euros for a cup of tea; 20 euros for a half bottle of average wine. Rather than stimulate extra revenue from its guests, its policy seems to drive them into the arms of the surrounding businesses.
The facilities for business use were quite poor with limited access to internet & business facilities. in the end I had to go into the town to use the internet facilities
The resort staff provided superior service from check in to departure and true to advertised detail there were stunning views of the sea and Mt. Etna from the restuarant.
Having a great view of the ocean and isola bella is priceless. b/c many of the rooms are stand alone bungalows, insects creep into the room which may be annoying for some guests.
Location is great, excellent views. The bungalo was very small and had no "garden" as was advertised and shown on the photos. Instead, it had a little plastic desk with two chairs located by the side road, with an angled seaview. Bungalo surroundings vary from one another and you may not get the one as per your expectations. Had to pay extra money to move to a suite because "no other bungalos were available"
Very helpful staff; unusual, well designed room accomodation; lovely outlook from the beach to La Bella Isola An overpriced winelist; being pestered by itinerants on the beach offering massage every few minutes (although I'm not sure what the hotel can do about this)
Idyllic place. The location is fantastic, right on the edge of a small bay with a miniature island attached to the shore by a small sand bar. The hotel opened this year so everything is brand new a very beautifully done. In addition is relatively not that expensive compared to other top hotels in Sicily. I felt it was worth the money. As its perched on an incline the carpark is sometimes tricky to maneuvuor around especially if its nearly full. This is typical of such places not just this hotel.
The location is great. Beautiful views on Isola Bella. It took long to check-in and the staff, although very willing, was not very efficient/professional. Had to ask multiple times for things.
The hotel was quite beautiful and well located. The breakfast on the terrace with the beautiful view was a delight. We were located in the annex which we would not have taken if we realized it. Although the room was nice, we felt isolated.
It was a wonderful experience to stay this hotel. Sprendid view..... Very difficult to get the hotel by car.
The facilities, the view and the location
The whole atmosphere in the hotel, with all the history and kind staff
luxury and intimate
the view, the swiming pool and the excellent breakfast italian staff never very dynamic
the views having a film being made in the hotel during our stay. no thought about health and safety
The accommodations were first rate. The view from our balcony of the sea and of Mt. Etna was breathtaking. I loved the proximity of the hotel to the Taormina shopping area. I am already planning my return trip to the Grand Hotel Timeo. We ended up staying in a Junior Suite rather than the Double Deluxe Room. The signs in Taormina to the Grand Hotel Timeo could be better. It was hard for us to find the hotel entrance and the parking area.
Quality of the public rooms No
We were not satisfied with our original room in the annex, but were upgraded to a suite in the main building with a wonderful view as soon as the staff realized our unhappiness.
comfortable facilities; friendly, helpful staff; proximity to gondala up to old town of Taromina. parking was remote - takes a bit of time to get car.
The gardens and terraces were beautiful and well kept Most of the staff were very impersonal, unfriendly and indifferent. We were not at all impressed by the head waiter in the restaurant (glasses and balding) who seemed very stressed and rude, He certainly wasn't popular amongst the younger staff either !!
The rooms were immaculate, the view breathtaking, convenient to transportation and the staff was extremely cordial and helpful. This was the best hotel we stayed in over our 13 days in Sicily. We liked everything!
The restaurant and bar terrace. Also being on the beach.
Beautiful building, garden, beach and location. Full of ambiance with marvelous views. On bay and sea. Very near to hotel direct cable car to Taormina (every 15 min.untill 01.00 hrs.) Good breakfast in garden with lovely view. Good valet parking service at extra cost. 17Euro/day Staff is helpfull polite and speaks good English.
Excellent, friendly service. The staff really seemed to want us to have an enjoyable time. The hotel restaurant was quite expensive. It would have been nice to have had a cheaper dining alternative.
- Excellent location, on the beach and near to the cable car - good beach facilities including deck chair and towels supplied - Hotel has nice decour and "old world charm" - Friendly, helpful staff with good language skills - Rooms were small and pokey - No gym or excercise facilities - Very expensive mini-bar (e.g. €5 for a can of Coke) - No internet available in rooms, only 1 access point available in hotel and this carried a charge.
Hotel was very pleasant but very expensive for what it offered. Breakfast was very good but the beach was small. I thought it was expensive for what it offered.
Very friendly staff, ready to help you on all your requests. Good location near the cable road that takes your for 5 minutes to the centre of Taormina with very picturesque landscape, shops and restaurants. Private beach and quite isolated place, calm and beautiful The only thing that the hotel should consider is the breakfast time. Some of the excursions starts quite early and you don't have an opportunity to have some food before it. At least it could be possible to have a sandwich or croissant before leaving
I liked the atmosphere. Staff were good. The garden was beautiful. The hotel was very close to the sea and had it own private beach. The staff on the beach at times distributed even some thermal water. What was a sign of a high class hotel, I guess. Everything was clean and bright. Wedding functions every evening. I like the music but the piano playing would go sometimes beyond midnight. lack of direction signs and you could get lost in the beginning. and I think the hotel was quite expensive....
We thought the hotel location was excellent with the view of the Straits of Messina and and Ionian Sea. The way the beach and pool areas are set into the cliff is really pretty amazing The AC did not always cool through the night. The staff at the beach only wasn't too friendly
Beautiful location. Rooms are a little dated, but clean. The restaurant is soso. Much better restaurants in town. Very nice gym. Overall a nice hotel.
Don't be fooled by the 4 stars tag. You really feel like a Movie Star when you'll have breakfast or visit the pool and the beach bar / restaurant. Best hotel I've ever seen to be honest. Beautiful location, excellent staff, a few minuses but it doesn't matter. I'd say visit the hotel if off-season (> 15 sept) and you'll have the w-end of your dreams :) Ask for sea view! Breakfast - it's a question of taste, that's for sure, but I didn't like it. Others might love it, I guess. If you're a normal person, who wants to save a few bucks when possible, don't touch the restaurant. Not prohibitive for sure, but it matches the "luxury" tag of the hotel. You can eat in Naxos or Taormina for example, while also visiting the place.
Location, value for money, facilities, outside bar /lunch restaurant Breakfast had little or no variation, very bad coffee
The magnificent view. The pool and the beach are just breathtaking. The food does not correspond to the standard of the hotel. Everything appart from the breakfast was a disappointment.
Its location and view. Breakfast was the best we had from the 8 hotels we stayed in.
The hotel itself is large but beautiful It's isolated and the few shuttles offered are overbooked. The taxi alternative is very expensive. Finally free parking is very tight and always packed.
Loved the view from the hotel, and the "cave opening" access to the beach. Shuttle service to the city was a plus, would definitely recommend using it as finding parking in the city center is a disaster. disappointed with the closure of bar by the beach due to weather conditions...
view at bay and Mount Etna, hotel-bus line to centre of Taormina
View the hotel
Housekeeping staff wonderful Too much walking up and down as I said above, Not enough hand rails, dangerous for children, and people having to navagate walking to the pool and beach, Not enough shops in the hotel only 2.
Great hotel with beautiful landscaping and pool setting. Staff were very friendly and effiicient and took care of the parking for us. Wonderful breakfast...one of the best on our 3 week trip thru out Sicily. Booked the standard room but would highly recommend upgrading to one with a terrace and balcony (worth the extra euros). I loved this hotel!!! Standard room a little dated compared to the rest of the hotel which was marvelous.
Very comfortable, relaxing atmosphere. Staff were friendly and helpful. Wonderful views and fabulous gardens. Good location 5 mins walk to town centre.
The most beautiful view ever, poolside fabulous, great service, and helpful staff. Walking distance to sites and shopping. Hope to return. Request ocean view and terrace. Great food (breakfast and lunch til 4 pm poolside). Parking available and assisted by staff.
The views were breathtaking and the staff were lovely. Couldnt do enough. Bedrooms a little dated Could upgrade the rooms in keeping with the stunning location
Great staff, relaxing pool, area lovely breakfast & dining area easy walk to the centre None
We stayed in junior suit with a perfect view of Etna and sea; the terrace was perfect..
Location! I'd say is not a 4 stars hotel as advertised!
It was very centrally located within Taormina enabling easy access to various bars and restaurants. It also offered superb panoramic views of the sea and mt Etna. Staff were very firndly and helpful. Out dated decor of rooms and reception/ lounge area of hotel
very old bed. small bathroom
The room was good, a little old but quaint. It was clean and quite large. The hotel is also old but typical of Taormina. The staff were very polite and helpful. It was quiet and the view from my room beautiful. Breakfast was also very good and the view from the restaurant is of Naxos and Etna. I think it just needs some TLC
We had a great view from our room that was wonderful to see each morning.
The hotel has a pleasant home-like feeling and an excellent location. At breakfast time one can enjoy the view of Mt.Etna from the rooftop terrace. Around the corner are the Public Gardens (Giardino Pubblico), very convenient for a walk in the well tended park, and again with view of Mt.Etna and the sea. At the same time only a few minutes walk away from the main corso. English speakers are well served at the front desk. We were very happy with our choice of accommodation!
The staff were polite and the breakfast was pretty decent. The views from the hotel of Etna and the sea were stunning. This should not be a four star hotel. We paid extra for a 'suite' but arrived to find a small room with a large balcony with a glass ceiling (sun bathing in a green house) - very basic (no mini bar, sky sport TV etc..) The website states beach & pool facilities are at the "Paradise Beach Club in Letojanni at about 10 minutes distance from the hotel". This is a lie. The beach is about 25 minutes by car alone!! If you dont drive then you can get the free hotel minibus. We did this three times and each time it arrived about 20/30 minutes late to collect us. From leaving our room to getting to the hotel pool took about 1 hour!! Avoid this hotel.
the staff attitude -
not a thing everything, the rooms were dirty dust everywhere, windows were filthy, dont think they had ever been used, excuse for an air conditioning unit that was full of bug and germ bearing dust, bathroom was awful the whole place had a seady air about it and I would not put my dog in it if it were a kennal
Professional staff resolved problem with the A/C by changing rooms for us when hotel was fully booked.
Beautiful situated, great views!! Walking distance to cable car, good resrtaurants nearby, spacious rooms, big lovely beds ( great matrass ) and a view to die for....! Very helpfull and friendly staff.
The beachside location was fantastic with beautiful panoramic views over Isolabella Beach. The hotel is far enough away from the town crowds, but close enough to the action when required - a short 80m walk to the fenicular. The staff are brilliant - anticipating our every need. The breakfast food was plentiful, and the pastries divine. There is a rail line below, however the hotel sliding doors are double glazed, so couldn't hear it.. and I am a very light sleeper. There are a couple of restaurants within 50m of hotel, or you can order in pizza for a relaxing night. It is definitely a value for money hotel. I would not hesitate to stay again. I highly recommend this hotel.
Location, views. Taormina city
The view to Isola Bella was amazing. Really nice continental buffet breakfast. Family with kids on the next room, earplugs necessary when having siesta
everything was spot on. The staff fell over backwards to assist. a bit pricey
The views of Isola Bella were stunning. The weather was atrocious and there was nothing to do indoors. A pool or gym would have been good.
Friendly, helpful staff -- nothing seems too much trouble. Hotel seems well-appointed, well-maintained, well-cleaned.
Beautiful, clean, new hotel. Great staff. Wonderful breakfast.
Staff were excellent. Breakfast selection very good. Pity there was no dining room for evening meals.
the location, the staff & the gardens
View (when I could see it) I chose larger room with view and tub - the air conditioning was not powerful too cool the room, even after the manager had an engineer "repair it". In order to get it cool enough I had to close the shutters leaving me with no view - even then the Temp at night was 28 degrees. Ants found in room and on bed. Manager also got lost his temper and shouted at me.
excellent wiev, beatiful gardens, unbelievable location, super breakfast, very kind and helpfull staff at recepsion desk the waiter at the breakfast time, young woman, was impolite and nervous, she was distressed us! plastic chairs at the balconies
wonderful hotel, great staff. breakfast was amazing. excellent setting and so close to all the sights
A man stood outside waiting for us, asking our name and saying there were expecting us. Before we knew it, he had taken our heavy suitcases out of the car and into our room! On top of that, he took care of the car. The service was a breeze as well as the comfort of the room. German efficiency, thoroughness and cleanliness combined with the Mediterranean culture: excellent! 15 euro for parking is a lot, but necessary over there. It might be an idea though to park your car by the 'ski' lift, transporting people from the beach to Taormina center for 3 euro return. Walk from there, 200 metres from the centre.
Breakfast excellent Parking difficult
The staff were extremely helpful and very friendly. The hotel had the most spectacular views and beautiful gardens. The breakfasts were delicious and served on a terrace overlooking the bay. Our room was a de luxe room, very large with sea views. The hotel is very central for the main part of Taormina but if you want the beach, for a small fee, there is a shuttle service provided to take you.
The staff at Hotel Villa Schuler are exceptional; well motivated, warm and friendly, intelligent and keen to help. Villa Schuler provides an a la carte breakfast service that works well when the (excellent) staff can cope, but they were overwhelmed on our first morning, when the hotel was full. The management should consider providing a buffet - at least for the breakfast essentials. The front desk recommendation of places to dine appeared motivated more by price (helping guests avoid being 'ripped off', which is important in Taormina) than quality - and included one resturant where quality was, in our experience, inferior.
In the oldtown, nice view, clean rooms, good price
Excellent! It was a pleasure to be in such an historic hotel, which has retained much of it's charm but been updated to meet current guest expectations. The book describing the history of the Hotel, left in each visitor's room, is fascinating. The family continuity adds greatly to the understanding, enjoyment and ambience of the Villa. Leaving after so short a stay.
Modern, comfortable, ideal, located with the attentive intelligent stuff, big rooms, easy to come to the center of Taormina and to the see. Nothing
very nice location, in the city up on the mountain, nice view. But shower room must be refurbiched.
The location was great and we had a room with wonderful views. The breakfast was excellent and the choices changed each day. It was only a short walk to the old town and the cable car. Car parking was great - very hard to get in Taormina. The only entrance and exit was down a very very steep circular driveway. Once you had climbed that the rest was easy.
Beatiful views over the Bay, location within 5 mins walking of centre, lovely pool, friendly staff. Cost of Car Parking 8 euros per day.
Very convenient to bus station, cable car and Taormina town. Pool area very nice as was bar balcony, with a nice view. Public areas very attractive. Free use of internet computer an advantage
The location was great; overlooking the coastline and only a few minutes walk from the heart of Taormina.
Its proximity to the town and the views were spectacular. Gardens were well done Not really, we were there off season and the pool was shut, I suppose this was understandable
Very well run hotel, great staff, fantastic views, walking distance to town centre. Partition walls between rooms are to light, and the hill out of the hotel was very steep.
Accessibility to town, beautiful pool, well appointed room, hotel fit out with good quality paintings and furniture.Room overlooking the pool and the view to the sea.In all an excellent place to stay They could probably increse the output of the air conditionining.Difficult to keep room cool in hot summer.
Location was lovely. Rather expensive.
All the staff in the hotel were excellent and nothing was to much trouble, including parking our car as the car park is very difficult to access. Overall we would strongly recommend this hotel to all our friends and family.
Taomina town centre No sport or games, I.E. table tennis etc.
Excellent position near park and overlooking bay of Gardia Naxos with view of Mt Etna. Excellent friendly attentative staff, lovely clean rooms with excellent breakfast. If arriving by car awkward turn into steep road down to hotel, which could be difficult for less mobile people and young families having to walk up it.
Excellent location, excellent staff and excellent room layout
Hotel views, ease to walk to town & modern design/decor. The pool would have been a lot better had it been a 'salt water' pool, rather than clorinated. Commuting to the beach located at the bottom of the mountain got a little tiresome, but was worth it.
The view Acess by foot or by car exteremly difficult
location, view, friendliness of staff, food beds are bad, linen is so-so, pillow not good
Centrally located , very clean, courteous staff. An ideal place to relax The only drawback was the check out time. I had to check out by 11.30 am and my flight home was at 10.30 pm. It would be better if the check out time was optional and if necessary client would pay according to the check out time. (Maybe charging a half day rate for check out after 2 pm )
Location was undoubtedly the biggest asset of this hotel. Perched along a sea facing cliff the views are the best money can buy. Communication with some of the staff....Italian only no english.
