10.0 Excellent
Pros: Everything was truly amazing, one of the best experiences I've had. We had the whole house for ourselves, they lighted the fireplace for us for dinner, and also in the morning during breakfast. The breakfast was fantastic, all home-made products they produce themselves. They are very attentive and available. They guided us through the wine museum they have in the property, and took us walking through the vineyards. Also, all domestic animals are welcome! I will absolutely have to repeat!
Cons: There was nothing we didn't like.
9.0 Excellent
Pros: Beautiful rooms & breakfast. The staff Beatrice was fluent in English and helpful for everything. Nice fire place and bed rooms with air conditioner. Walking and cycling in the vineyard and the surrounding were bonus accompanied with friendly dogs. Free port and a bottle of nice wine and you can buy them ... should not have got some ports in Porto !!

Pros: Absolutely LOVED everything about our stay here! When we arrived, we were told we were upgraded to a larger house at no extra charge. As we walked through the home, we were in absolute amazement at the beauty of the rooms. The staff was so kind — they came by in the evening to light our fireplace, made us a delicious and extremely generous breakfast in the morning, followed by a personal tour of their wine museum. And our refrigerator was stocked with beer, wine and water:) The location was conveniently located close to the town of Lamego, and it had wonderful views of the vineyards all around. We only wished we could have stayed longer! Highly recommend!!!
Cons: Everything was perfect!

Pros: A beautiful location in the Douro valley. It’s a charming older home immaculately maintained by Elisabete and her mother. Elisabete is very friendly and shares excellent travel tips, local breakfast foods and other specialties. We experienced an intimate port and wine tasting experience in her cellar. Staying at this Quinta was like visiting a friends home. You won’t want to miss this opportunity.

Pros: Elisabete's place was amazing! I only wish I could have stayed longer there! She and her mother were so friendly and hospitable. The house is very well maintained and located in such a beautiful spot in the Douro Valley. The pool was great, and is a fantastic way to spend a lazy afternoon. The breakfast provided was one of the best I had during my entire trip. I highly recommend doing the wine tasting - all the wines were delicious and Elisabete is very knowledgeable.

Pros: We had an amazing stay here, definitely recommend Quinta do Fôjo! The house is beautiful and authentic and you can see Elisabete and her mom treat it with love, same as they treat their guests. We felt at home and very comfortable. From the moment we placed our booking to the moment we checked out, Elisabete provided great service and was helping us and giving us tips for our tourism around. Superb breakfast with local produce and home made compotes. We even managed to enjoy the pool since the sun came out! Love this place and will definitely be back! Muito obrigada!
Cons: Wish we could have stayed longer.

Pros: Elisabete is a seriously good host; nothing is too much trouble. We visited for a friend's wedding & neither of us drive, but she went out of the way to help us explore the region and even drove us down to Regua several times. The in-house picnic is delish and definitely recommended - there are lots of beautiful spots for picnicking on the quinta. We stayed 7 nights and were not ready to leave!!
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Quinta do Fojo is a magically beautiful place inside and out. Elisabete is such a kind and helpful host! She gave great suggestions for sightseeing and dining. The shared bathroom wasn’t a problem at all and it was very clean. Breakfast was hearty and delicious with fresh baked bread, cheeses, jams, fruit, and other baked goods. Our room was spacious and comfortable with a breathtaking view. The pool and other outdoor spaces were gorgeous, and wine tasting in the cellar is recommended. We had such a relaxing and wonderful stay...the best of our ten day trip.

10.0 Excellent
Pros: Six Senses is simply spectacular - from the location in the Douro with amazing surrounding vineyards to the facility, the staff, food and wine. It simply is "Six Stars"! Considering all elements the value actually is quite good. We have stayed at 4 Seasons and Ritz Carlton and the like all over the world. All of them were wonderful, but value based on price is actually better at Six Senses Douro.
Cons: Almost nothing. The only negative comment is that their wine prices are a bit high for the area. After going to a number of Quintas and seeing prices even at their high end restaurants, we felt 6 Senses is marking up a bit too much for the area.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Beautiful property in a beautiful location. Feel surrounded by the grapevines of the Douro Valley along with the beauty of the Douro River!
Cons: Nothing

Pros: Beauty of location ,we had views of the river and vineyards. An outstanding facility that has the best of both worlds, beautiful historical building, completely renovated inside with a wonderful contemporary and artistic feel. There are so many spaces to enjoy inside and out! The spa treatments, and staff were excellent. The Six Senses staff did everything they could do make our stay enjoyable and memorable. Our only regret, is the we could not stay longer.
Cons: The main dining room, was the the one option to dine in during week days, the other, more interesting options are open only on weekends. The food was not up to the facility, expensive, and service was not consistent.

Pros: We stayed at Casa da Azenha for 4 nights and felt really welcome by staff and family. A unique house with a fabulous garden and a vineyard you can explore. We were given the most useful recommendations to tour the Douro-area after a delightful breakfast in the beautiful breakfast room where we met the other guests in the morning. The bed rooms were clean and cosy, had very comfortable beds and were carefully looked after. We really felt like coming home every night. Casa da Azenha and its people radiate a warmth, a hospitality and a sense of trust that is rare these days. We highly recommend to experience the beauty of this place.

10.0 Excellent
Pros: One of the most beautiful and peaceful places I have ever been.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: A beautiful, peaceful location! Anna was very helpful planning local outings.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: When the gate to casa anzenha opened we entered a Portugese fairy tale! It was even more beautiful than we hoped. The big and lush garden is lovely to walk through or sit in. It is full of flowers, tropical plants, orange and other fruit trees, little romantic seats, fountains, candle lit lanterns at night, views over the vineyards and not to forget there's a great pool, on one side deep enough to dive. The interior, the furniture of the rooms is so tasteful with antiques mixed with bright colors, we got inspired by it! The new ac was a nice surprise for us, it worked really well. We only had to switch it on briefly to have a nicely chilled room for the entire night. The beds are made and the bins emptied every day by very nice people. And then there's Anna, a dream host! She makes sure her guests have absolutely everything they need, from making reservations for boats or restaurants to finding swimming spots. She has a good sense of humour. The owner welcomed us late at night. She is very friendly too, told us a bit about the history of Casa Azenha (how it has been in the family of her husband for 400 years) and checks regularly if all is good and she came by with glasses of port. We could feel the love of the people of Casa Azenha everywhere: they look after their beautiful place and their guests so well! Breakfast is served outside on a large table where with the other guests, which is a nice way to talk to other guests. One day it rained and we were welcomed in the main house in a beautiful palace-like diner room. Casa Azenha is small scale and that gives it a wonderful homely feel. It was a magical week, thank you so much!
Cons: The only thing we did not like was that we had to leave...:-)
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Superb breakfast at table in beautiful garden
Cons: Would like to have stayed longer if we had time
10.0 Excellent
Pros: We were welcomed by Ana with some fresh homemade lemonade and some tips of which Quintas to visit in the region. The breakfast was fresh and delicious and you could order picnics to take walking with you around the vineyard or out with you when exploring the Douro. The staff were so very accommodating and went out of their way to make our stay comfortable, they'd call and make reservations on our behalf. We booked an extra night within the first half an hour, we loved it so much.
Cons: Everything was great.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Ana and the Team were extremely nuce and professional It felt like being in a fairytale, we will definitely be back @ Azenha

10.0 Excellent
Pros: "Oh my God, I wish I had booked for a week", My wife when we first saw the rooms. We had both rooms. Included is a full kitchen, eating area, living room and terrace. Five min. walk to the santuary, 15 to city center, another 15 to the castle. The owners are super nice and an encyclopedia of the surrounding area. Don't let the name mislead you. You will love it!
Cons: It was all good
10.0 Excellent
Pros: It was up above Lamego and a short walk to a famous church. We had the guesthouse, which was lovely, to ourselves for the two nights. The hostess (and one of the owners) Clara gave us great suggestions for exploring the Douro valley and spent time with us sharing her considerable knowledge of local and not so local wine. I highly recommend this property.

Pros: The room was beautifully decorated and very comfortable. Our host Claudia was extremely helpful and hospitable.
Cons: Nothing
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Best place in valley, grate location, love the view and super clean rooms.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: I loved just about everything about this place. It was exactly what I needed to feel refreshed after 3 months of traveling. Everything was clean and the room was decorated in a way that made you feel cozy and right at home. The windows fill the room with natural light and it feels so nice to have them open at night. It's so quiet and in the morning you hear the birds. You can order food or wine and eat it where you please. The vineyard is lovely to explore and there's a path that takes you to the top of the stairs of the Santuario Dos Remedios, this was my favorite way to get to and from town. If I ever get married, I'd love to come back for a honeymoon but this also made for an amazing solo get away.
Cons: The only downside was that it was a little higher up away from town than I had expected , especially traveling by foot. However this soon turned out to be one of the best parts of this place. The views were amazing and the birds were happy as well, I loved listening to them rather than the noise of the city. Also, the taxis are cheap and the owner offers a lift into town if he's available.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Beautiful apartment in s tranquil setting. This apartment is one of three within this complex which includes a sitting/ lounge area, small kitchen area( fully equipped) with a terrace area attached. Sitting eating breakfast or sipping something cool on the terrace, looking out on the countryside listening to the birds makes it hard to imagine that the historic centre is actually within walking distance. There are also washing facilities which for the average traveller is a bonus. We almost overlooked this gem as it has been described as camping as the apartment complex is situated within the grounds of a larger area inclusive of campground( never visually spotted)& facilities for campervans. The setting is more of an estate with beautifully tended spacious grounds. A surprise which, had we known existed, we would have spent the duration of our time as the Douro valley and obviously the toen( a delight) is all there. Highly recommended. Cannot praise enough as the service provided matched the lovely setting.
Cons: Nothing to dislike
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Our hosts were friendly and attentive and very relaxed. They made every effort to make our stay in their lovely property comfortable.
Cons: It would be really difficult to make any criticism however small
10.0 Excellent
Pros: We had a room with private bath in the main building. The property has excellent location on the hill with a very nice view of Lamego, very quiet and at the same time in the city. Exceptionally clean, there is a living room with a kitchen for Guests use which is very nice, excellent location is you are visiting Douro valley, Lamego is a very nice city and we used it as a basic location to visit the vineyards in Douro. The property Manager Clara and her husband are very welcoming, ready to help you with everything you need. Lamego was the highlight of our Portugal trip thanks to Camping Lamego. Thank you!

Pros: Beautiful location. Bit of an adventure to find but well worth it. We stayed in the holiday house with comfortable double bed and sofa bed for the kids. Well equipped for self catering. Lovely decorated. Very clean. Air conditioning. Fantastic breakfast. Very welcoming host.
Cons: Sat nav was useless! If you get lost phone the host Olga. She is lovely.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The ambience was relaxing and quiet with space to enjoy the location and proximity to surrounding attractions. Breakfasts were excellent. They were plentiful and changes were negotiable. The manager, Olga, went well beyond our expectations of a host. She was cheerful, welcoming and took us under her wings. She worked hard to bridge the Portuguese to English language challenges between us and made a real effort to learn more English from us.
Cons: The property is difficult to find because GPS directions and Google maps can be unreliable. This could be overcome by ensuring that you receive detailed instructions from Cascata do Varosa. Road access to the villa is quite awkward and rough. Some simple additions would improve facilities: Hair dryer, salt and pepper and sugar, a vegetable peeler and insect spray. More expensive would be insect screens over openings. These suggestions are meant to be helpful rather than critical
10.0 Excellent
Pros: When you are driving across the valley you never expect such a place!!! Perfect for having rest! It’s a tiny village of 5-6 separate houses with your own barbecue fireplace, fresh river and...your own waterfall! The staff is amazing - Olga, thanks for a wonderful evening! Everyone who travels across Portugal by car has to visit this calm and peaceful place.
Cons: None
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Outstanding personalized welcoming by owners. Brand new facilities, tastefully designed and decorated. Clean and comfortable. The cascade that crosses the property is a bonus with its soothing sound.
Cons: A bit hard to find, and the little road leading to the property a bit tricky, but doable.

Pros: Beautiful property, clean comfortable and quiet. Location great to access all the valley has to offer.
Cons: Nothing to complain about.
7.0 Good
Pros: We booked it last minute and arrived around 9:30pm. We didn't have time to enjoy the pool or the surrounding areas of the property because of that.. The lounge area was very cozy with a fireplace and seating spaces. We spent some time there planning our next day activities. Staff was friendly. Breakfast was decent with a nice view.
Cons: The shower head wouldn't stay in place once water was turned on... I had to hold it with my arm all the time! this is something they can fix pretty quickly and it not influencing my rate of this property. Hotels in general seems not to care about decent pillows, this one included.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Everything
7.0 Good
Pros: The inn was very clean and the location had a great view. Very accommodating staff. We had dinner the first night and we were given a choice of three entries. Very well prepared meal. Breakfast was also very good with many choices.
Cons: The property is located in Lamego and it is removed from the town. We would have preferred a location closer to town and activities.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Friendly staff and perfect breakfast!

Cons: Internal soundproofing poor, can hear people in hall way very clearly.
9.2 Excellent
Pros: good breakfast , nice indoor pool and gim, staff very kind and helpful
7.0 Good
Cons: They provide very limited amenities in the room if a box of tissue can place in each room. It would be great. I had a bad cold during the stay but no tissue around or in the hotel. It seems not concern the need from the guest.

8.3 Excellent
Pros: The restaurant was good, but books up quickly so make a reservation in advance as there's nothing close by. Breakfast was great. The gyms is amazing, spa was wonderful.
Cons: There's no conditioner, only shampoo so bring your own. The walls are a bit thin.

10.0 Excellent
Pros: Welcoming host/hostess lovely old country house
9.6 Excellent
Pros: The secluded nature of it was amazing, and the suite was beautiful. Having practically a private pool, and the quietness. We opted to have dinner made for us by the owner one night which, whilst a little more than expecting, was an amazing experience. Home cooked food, wine made from the estate, pudding made from fresh fruits from the garden and just the two of us being served privately - delightful!
Cons: Upon arrival it wasn't wholly obvious where the entrance to the Casa was. It was also quite confusing working out where to go for breakfast and both us and other guests weren't told when the location changed to what had previously been said. After our amazing private dinner, we weren't very sure when we were meant to leave!
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Beautiful grounds. Flowers and orchard couldn’t have been pettier.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: I loved staying at the Manor House. The owners were so hospitable, welcoming and generous. There were no details overlooked from the welcoming bottle of wine to the flashlight by each side of the bed. I wish we could have rearranged our trip to stay there longer.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Both our hosts, Antonio & Ana Maria, were delightful, welcoming and helpful. Very kindly opened up the private chapel to show us too. Location and property were quiet, comfortable, atmospheric, safe and clean. We enjoyed our room in the original manor, with a relaxing lounge. A plentiful breakfast beside the pool was a great start to any day. Staff were very helpful, even to the extent of coming in a bit early to serve breakfast when we had to get to Peso for a Douro cruise.
Cons: Everything was first class - no complaints
8.3 Excellent
Pros: The place is wonderful, with an incredible garden and a swimming pool. The staff was extremely nice and present. It’s quiet and elegant in all the areas of the house and the overall environment is a small paradise
Cons: The in-harmony-with-the-universe attitude was a bit incoherent with the excess of formality that we found in some situations, the dinner (delicious, by the way) or the sermon on fireworks disturbing the idyllic atmosphere. However, it’s only for the nitpicking. The whole experience was very good, and a big praise to the attendants, always smiling and wonderful.

9.2 Excellent
Pros: Beautiful slightly remote independent traditional manor house with superb antique decorations, historic feel and fabulous surroundings and views. Very comfortable and very nice staff helpful in everything. Original as well as traditional, attention to detail, beautiful dining room where everyone sits on one large table and great food is served (most from own garden). Magic peaceful surroundings. If you'd like to read a book with a glass of wine and hear nothing else then the crisping fireplace and the light snoring of the dog; this is the place. Semi family run with very hard working people. Wonderful.
Cons: Nothing as its beauty is that its not part of a chain, concept or franchise. There is no gym, no spa (there is an outdoor pool but not heated) or childeren's facilities. Please keep it that way ;-) Peace and Quiet.
9.0 Excellent
Pros: Beautiful location in a historic home. the staff didn't seem to be too happy but certainly not rude at all, just not very welcoming. Cool history of the house and unfortunately we arrived late and left early but i would definitely stay here again to do some more exploring.
Cons: Staff could be a bit more welcoming. We also didn't know the bed was in a loft only accessible by stairs and my mother has a bad back. No mention of accessibility for that room which would have been nice. There was a single bed on the main floor but we preferred to sleep in the bigger beds upstairs. Beautifully decorated and spacious room though.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Beautiful old manor house, gorgeous gardens
Cons: A little remote
7.5 Good
Pros: It was absolutely beautiful. Situated within a vineyard. Beautiful views, quiet grounds. Very old buildings with decadent interiors. Close to lovely quintas and neighboring villages (like Pinha)
Cons: Beds and pillows were not very comfortable.
6.3 Good
Pros: The property and the surroundings are fantastic.
Cons: There were a few reasons why I booked a night in this hotel to celebrate a birthday. For example, the beautiful rooms, which were shown on the website, a large terrace with a great view over this beautiful place and a wonderful dinner. Unfortunately for the same reasons, I was disappointed. The rooms looked very different as shown on the website, rather gloomy then bright and magnificent. Furthermore a wedding was celebrated that was not mentioned during the booking process, only afterwards by chance, therefore the use of premises was limited and made us feel to be out of place. I booked a spot for the offered wine pressing on the phone, which has not been existing for a while, as they told me later, on arrival. The dinner was a buffet, as it turned out to be a slight downer for the price.
7.5 Good
Pros: extraordinary location in the midst of a working farm. beautiful way through an apple orchard dining room and living room well decorated with a working fire and elegant ambiance nice breakfast and dinner . the owner Maria was great and willing to accommodate our wishes. both for my daughter and for me as a vegetarian
Cons: Maria the owner was great George the receptionist not so much. The day we arrived we asked Maria if she could send for us the key from our previous hotel since we forgot it with us. Maria said sure ,George will do it. We checked and checked again during our stay, and George said he sent it and confirmed it. I was contacted a week after we returned home by our hotel in Braga to ask about the key., and was told the key hasn't arrived yet. After letting them check with George it turned out he didn't even send it yet - a week after we left very disappointing. we would have found a mail office and sent ourselves the key . but why say it was sent and not send it at all? In addition for a four star hotel we were disappointed the family room was big but the beds were small. and cricking so badly just turning at night woke us all in the bathroom the bin was a basket with a too small plastic bag inside. the bath had a plastic curtain appropriate for a 2 star hotel no place in the room to place the luggage but on the floor. no bell boy to help with the luggage
8.0 Excellent
Pros: Beautiful location. Very nice main building with nice areas for guests. Nice big dogs. We loved the living rooms with big open fire places. Fun detail that all items in the hotel have a price tag and can be bought. Nice garden.
Cons: The room in the lower garden was not so nice. Far away from main building and very dark pathway. Also no wifi in these rooms and very slow wifi in main building.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Wonderful surroundings, and very personable and solicitous owner and staff.
5.4 Okay
Pros: Charming property.
Cons: Not well maintained, poor housekeeping, and pitiful breakfast.

9.6 Excellent
Pros: quite everything room/ staff/ nature around/ peacefulness and cleanliness
Cons: the road that get you to the hotel. there should be at least more signs that show you the way to the hotel. and if possible some side barriers reflectors for more safety
8.8 Excellent
Pros: Very helpful staff, great views and great facilities.
7.5 Good
Pros: Breakfast was limited in selection, but good.
8.3 Excellent
Pros: The staff was friendly and helpful and the hotel sits on a hill with beautiful views of gorgeous vineyards and adjacent hillsides. The hotel has nice sized rooms, a quaint chapel attached and outdoor seating to enjoy the beautiful outdoors. It also provides breakfast which was convenient and good!
Cons: Unfortunately, along with the stunning views of vineyards, guests can’t avoid seeing power lines as they dot the landscape everywhere. Almost any hotel that sits on a hill will be in the middle of power lines so it’s not only this hotel. Also, be ready to travel on steep, unpaved roads to find this little gem as it’s in a rural location not close to town.
5.0 Okay
Pros: Surrounding the vineyards was great, however I think the hotel could utilize the rooftop pool area for happy hour daily for inhouse guest to add a little variation to the stay. Maybe a fresh paint throughout the hotel could freshen the look of the hotel up a little from an interior perspective.
Cons: In the images on the booking website it does not show the powerlines that cross over and surround the hotel, which could be a negative to guests that have not stayed with the hotel before.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: The staff were extremely welcoming and the view from the room was outstanding. We really appreciated the ability to walk through the vineyards and enjoy the fantastic view. The fact that the owner spoke to us personally at dinner was a very nice touch!
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Very comfortable room with beautiful vineyard views Restaurant and bar were also great
Cons: Funny shower door led to wet bathroom floor

Pros: Great staff. They are all very kind and ready to help. Great location, it’s amazing waking up here. Breakfast is amazing. The aesthetics of the hotel. The rooms are beautiful. Clean and comfortable. You have all the toiletries you need. Bar is very cozy. Quiet and relaxing.
Cons: I would love if the property could have had as outdoor pool. Also, needing a cap to go to the pool puts me off, I understand it, but I don’t like it. Dinner had the same carte 2 days in a row. Jacuzzi could have been a little heated. If you ask for a cab from the hotel you pay more than if you just call the local taxi. We paid 3 something to get there, but 7 to leave.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Very large room, amazing view, great location, indoor heated swimming pool, breakfast was great.
Cons: The jaccuzi was cold. Parking place is limitted.
