Hands down one of the best B&B’s I’ve ever stayed at, Paul and Jeanine have set the bar very high. First off, it’s a beautiful property with gorgeous rooms and thoughtful design. There is nothing like the morning or evening light coming in through sheer curtains. The owners Paul and Jeanine, were above accommodating even before we got there trying to assist with a wine tour. Paul invited us to pick plums from their tree and they were yummy, even packed some with us for the rest of our trip. The breakfast each morning was great and eating with the vines right next to you was so relaxing. My fiancé fell in love with Truffle and Bacchus, the owners dogs and had a good romp on the property with them. The property is situated close to Ruby Beach, 30 minute drive from Abel Tasman, 30 minute drive from Nelson and close to all the vineyards in that region for tours. Jeanine put together a list of vineyards for us to check out and Paul even made our dinner reservation for us in Nelson the night we arrived. This is beyond service. We stayed in the Chardonnay room which was immaculate, we couldn’t hear a peep from our neighbours and if the owners hadn’t told us there was a full house we wouldn’t have known. The bed was so comfy it was really hard to get out of it the first morning for our sea kayak, also great pressure in the shower and lots of hot water. I can’t recommend this place enough. You will not be disappointed.
Very charming accommodations in storied hotel. Cozy and warm, with very hospitable hosts. Even a dog to walk if you choose! N/A
a wonderfully restored old colonial house, with modern facilities tastefully added. very good breakfast with home-grown ingredients. although OK during the good weather of our stay, having to hump your luggage up and down the exposed outside staircase in order to get to your room might seem tiresome.
The setting was great The hotel management were offhand, and had no meal service at all, not even breakfast. The hotel was not worth the money they charged.
! This was advertised as a 5* Hotel. It was actually a bed and breakfast and definately not 5*. Dirty windows (cobwebs) lummpy pillows and mattress. For the 1st time ever booking.com let us down!!Book the Grampian in Bronte St to see how it should be done!!
This review is solely for the customer service, as we did not end up staying here. We were looking forward to staying at the Woodsy House, but when we arrived we realized that we had accidentally made the reservation for a week later. We spoke with someone from A Woodsy House on the phone, and he told us that we had to cancel through Expedia. What he did not mention was that, even though we were canceling a week in advance, and even though Expedia did not charge any cancellation fee, A Woodsy House would only refund 20% of the booking fee. After canceling, I emailed A Woodsy House to see if, considering our honest mistake and that we had cancelled a whole week in advance, they would refund the remainder of the fee if they were able to re-book the room on the night we had reserved. Although I emailed twice, they never responded and did not refund the money. I thought they at least could have written back to explain why they couldn't refund the fee, or explain that they weren't able to rebook it (which seems unlikely, considering how booked up all of the other hotels were when we tried to find another one).
