* nice environment to relax * good and cheap food prepared by Thomas and his team * pickup and dropoffs to bridge included * free use of kayaks * matrass comfortable
* "bathroom" was not clean, particularly toilet pot very dirty * no sink in bathroom as advertised on photo on booking.com: misleading! * a simple (shared) shower would be a good improvement (which is nowadays not to hard, I have seen simple showers in middle of remote jungle) and does in my opinion only improve the experience. But owner Thomas runs this place already 15 years in the same way and is not very open to change probably * excursions offered are low quality and little choice. You basically only have hike to waterfall, which is not a nice experience because "guide" (one of Thomas' 2 employees) is on the phone constantly, doesnt care about us, and the path is not suited well for tall people (i.e. longer than 170 cm) because you litteraly have to walk bended for 50% of time for 2 hours. The guide has a machete, but seems more for show as he could have used to make path more open (probably he was too busy with himself on the phone to even care) and doesnt speak english at all (not a word!) * Summarizing: don't come here for nice excursions or hikes because those are dissapointing (and you will see zero wildlife too btw, only once per day ~10 white birds fly over the river as photo on his website show) * lots of musquitos around property. Protecting yourself every hour completely with DEET won't even offer enough protection to not get biten * multiple holes in musquito net in bungalow around the bed (very bad given amount of musquitos!) * Thomas runs this place already for 15 years in same way and is quite stubborn in a way. I saw him shouting at guests that wanted something a little different, which in my opinion reflects very badly on him as a host...
- The location: Quiet and restfull place, you're away from everything, in the jungle, on a beautiful and clean river you just want to jump in - The common area with beautiful views on the river and hammock to relax - The bedroom and bathroom much better than on the picture - huge with private terrace and very comfortable We only stayed 1 night at Neptune but if we were to come back, we would stay for at least 2-3 nights. Koh Kong is a beautiful and quiet area, our favorite in Cambodia. And Neptune, the perfect gateway to relax and disconnect.
The price maybe a bit high for Cambodia Koh Kong is out of the beaten tracks and difficult to reach: Make sure to contact Thomas a few days before your stay, he'll help you and advise you on the best way to get there! Don't take public transportation or you'll spend the full day on the road...
The bungalows are set in a lovely natural environment. I spend my day reading a book in a hammock overlooking the river, taking a swim every now and then. The bungalows are beautifull and all made of naturall material. I fell asleep really quick listening to the jungle noise. The staff is really nice. I really recommend this place if you are looking for a quiet, into nature experience!
Friendly owner, Thomas and great staff, 2 young lads Airy bamboo bungalows. Communal eating on the water's edge so got to know other guests. Home cooked meals. Swimming in the river Good trek to waterfall and canoe home. Peace and quiet.
Our bungalow didn't have a river view but 2 others did. A good view is important to us. Nowhere to sit in the gardens or by the river except in the restaurant. Seemed slightly run down. Nails sticking out of floor in bungalow.
The location is amazing and the team is here to help you discover this natural environment.
