Pros: Wow! Not what we expected. Wonderful. Rooms finished to a high standard, clean, comfy, and quiet. Great pool. Breakfast area and food was excellent. Getting there on the motorbike was fun too! Excellent food in the restaurant in the evening and great value for money.
Cons: Need to make it clear that this isn’t your average hotel/b&b. Could be a problem if you have mobility issues. Walk back from the restaurant in the evening - golf buggy would be good idea :-)
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Cozy ancient style appartment. Ours had an a rooftop terrace with an amazing view. Nice and clean pool area. Food in the restaurant is very fresh and delicious.
9.2 Excellent
Pros: Up in the green hills inland from La Spezia and off the tourist trail the farm produces chestnuts & honey. Fresh produce feature in their restaurant menu and the food was delicious. Accommodation is in the restored historical quaint village. A unique experience, nature and walking tracks.
Cons: Everything was lovely. A minor point, the menu was verbal so for us non italian speakers we felt like we missed out on the finer detail of the delicious food choices but we still enjoyed everything we had.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: What a gem of a place!
9.6 Excellent
Pros: In a beautiful rural location The staff were very friendly and helpful The cuisine was delicious
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Delicious food, beautiful view, extremely nice staff. Perfect place to find peace of mind.
Cons: WiFi connection could be stronger.
8.8 Excellent
Pros: This was an absolute gem of a find! The drive is a little hairy up there, so please make sure you're aware of this. However, it is absolutely worth it. The location and scenery is utterly stunning and what the family are trying to achieve is wonderful. Highlights for me was the food in the montagna verde - make sure you reserve a table. It was possibly the best food that we had during our time in Italy. The staff that we dealt with were all delightful and very helpful. We didn't even explore further afield as we were just so happy and peaceful there. Thanks!

Pros: Room was clean, food excellent, nice swimming pool out the back, breakfast was adequate but also very tasty. Local wine great value and refreshing.
Cons: Nothing, it's not the Hilton so do not compare it to one. This is a family run, small friendly hotel with wonderful food served by them, home cooked, local wine, the whole experience is excellent value for money.
7.9 Good
Pros: Very nice place with amazing view. Food is extremely good.
Cons: The facility is ok but it could be improved
9.0 Excellent
Pros: The fresh Coffee, Danish daily were excellent.
Cons: Really nothing. The value, location, service, cleanliness and staff were superb. The on-site restaurant was super.
9.0 Excellent
Pros: The croissants at breakfast were amazing and the mushroom and pasta dish we had for dinner was the best meal we had during our entire trip to Italy. Don't miss relaxing in the garden behind the pool. The smell of lavender and rosemary in the garden combined with the gorgeous scenery is so relaxing!
Cons: The hotel rooms in Europe are just different than America. Smaller, older seeming, fewer pillows, etc. So it was different than what I am used to in America. But clean and comfortable. This property is more like a bed and breakfast not a chain-type hotel. So the rooms are not sound-proofed. Its more like staying the Laura and Umberto's home than a "hotel." I loved that about our stay. We definitely felt like we were in real Italy, not like Disney Italy. But it is different than what Americans might be used to.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Amazing view, pool, very quiet place, exelent food! Owners are very pleasant. It was very good stay, thank you
10.0 Excellent
Pros: From the moment we stepped in through the door we were welcomed with warmth and hospitality. The food is all home cooked by the owner Umberto and a lasagna was prepared specially for us after reading some great reviews about it! It was excellent.
Cons: We could not fault it at all
8.8 Excellent
Pros: Gorgeous place with mountains all around and just 30 min. by car to the beach. Amazing and caring hosts and super delicious food. Pool and garden with mountain view - just perfect for careless relaxation. just across the street park with children playground.
Cons: Hotel is in small village and is on the very road, where cars driving just next to your windows from the very morning. As no conditioning available windows were open during the night and cars where a bit disturbing. Beds could be softer, but it's very much based on persons preferences.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Location and view were breathtaking. Pool was fantastic. Staff were always available and couldn’t do enough. Umberto can arrange almost anything for you in the locality, even wine tasting! . Breakfast was brilliant, very traditional and plentiful and coffee fantastic. We loved this place, was perfect for exploring traditional Italy, La Spezia and the Cinque Terre. Would highly recommend a stay with Umberto, Laura and their staff and are already thinking of when we can return. A huge thank you for our stay ..
Cons: Liked everything

10.0 Excellent
Pros: Food, location, staff
9.6 Excellent
Pros: The food was perfect and the owner / manager were very accommodating because I was not the best of customers/guest
Cons: The rooms could do with some sort of sound proofing because you can hear other guests
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Great accommodation in small historical village. Excellent local food in restaurant. Close to Tuscan-Emilian National Apennine Park which is suitable for hiking.
Cons: Access roads are narrow and twisty but it is part of experience to visit such lovely tranquil place.
7.9 Good
Pros: Lovely mountain views. Everything was very clean. Staff were kind and helpful. Lovely restaurant, excellent value for money and fabulous flavours. Very nice pool. Good breakfast.
Cons: No air conditioning in the rooms and it was very warm at night. With windows opened (mosquito netting in place) you could just about sleep but any noise outside then woke you. Everything is very steep and a ten minute walk from check in/restaurant to rooms in the village, or a 4 minute drive by car. This was fine for us but would be difficult for less confident drivers or anyone with reduced mobility.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: We stayed at Montagna Verde a whole week and could have stayed another week. Barbara and all the personnel were so friendly, food was excellent, the surroundings so beautiful. It is a perfect place to just relax and enjoy life.
8.8 Excellent
Pros: The staff and food were excellent
Cons: Lack of outside space to sit that was your own
9.2 Excellent
Pros: Restaurant was good, good and friendly service. the place is unique and nice
Cons: bed wasn't very comfortable, and the reception and the restaurant are far from the room (800 meters, vehicle is required)
9.6 Excellent
Pros: The food was excellent in the restaurant and the breakfast was good The apartment was some 800m away from the restaurant which was fine for us as we could walk off the very good meals and wine .The breakfast room was close by . But please note they do have rooms in the restaurant Building
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Very nice accomodation - the buildings of an old village have been carefully renovated; the restaurant is awsome - we had a 4 course dinner which was included in the price for the room. Everything was very delicious, homemade and our expectations were topped! Very good value for money.
Cons: The furnishing of the room was little bit worn; only detail but in rural areas essential: moskito net was damaged
9.6 Excellent
Pros: It was a very special experience to be able to stay in a hilltop village. We had a lovely characterful room with a terrace looking out over the mountains. We watched the moon rise in the evening and heard the goat bells in the morning. Absolutely splendid! We also enjoyed an amazing Sunday lunch at the restaurant - endless delicious courses with wine for only €30 a head. This is a truly magical place!
Cons: Nothing!

10.0 Excellent
Pros: Great location, terrific food and lovely people!
10.0 Excellent
Pros: This gem is in the midst of nature... all you can see is nature and hear birds singing. The couple that own this beautifully restored hotel work hard and are young and energetic and do everything to make your stay comfortable, they go the extra mile ... The food was excellent by the way... the wine is very good and it comes from their vines and the olive oil... Be sure to take some bottles before you leave... I certainly did... There is also a swimming pool it's very clean and well maintained... Absolute bliss...
Cons: Honestly... There was nothing to dislike about this little gem... It was bliss...
4.6 Okay
Pros: The swimming pool was very clean and nice The restaurant on site was convenient There was a castle short walking distance that had a really nice fine dining restaurant Breakfast was bought to our room which was nice The room was well equipped in the kitchen with all the things we needed I would say great for families as there were a lot of children
Cons: The pool was great however there were quite a few rules which made it hard to relax. The breakfast was bread, croissants and yogurt which were all lovely however would have been good to have some cheese and meat or cereal to go with these . We don’t speak Italian so the language barrier was hard Wi-Fi was only available at the main reception and restaurant which made it hard to make travel plans and do research for the rest of our trip
8.3 Excellent
Pros: I really liked the fact that breakfast was delivered to our room. It consisted of locally-produced items which were really good.
Cons: We were disappointed that the restaurant wasn't opened especially since we arrived at 7pm and didn't know the area too well. Luckily we found a great alternative within walking distance.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Very welcoming staff - we were offered a bottle of their lovely wine on arrival, and sat on the terrace drinking it in the November sunshine. Marvellous locally sourced and home-made food in the restaurant: we ate there every evening it was open, and it far surpassed the posh restaurant in the castle nearby. Great showers, comfortable beds, underfloor heating. The swimming pool was closed for winter when we were there, but would be great in summer. The agriturismo also has apartments in the grounds.
Cons: An indoor sitting area for guests, available throughout the day, would be a good idea.
8.3 Excellent
Pros: The breakfast was fantastic. The location was quaint and near a medieval castle, which was fun to check out.
Cons: The pool had just been treated when we arrived around 5pm, and it didn't open again until 9am the next morning . We needed to leave at 9am the next mornibg, so we couldn't swim. We partially chose this place because it had a pool. We were hiking 10-15 miles on the Via Francigena each day, so were really looking forward to a post hike swim.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: We had a lovely stay. The best! We really liked the natural green environment and the easy friendly atmosphere. Very kind couple hosting and a clean pool and really amazing restaurant. The kids loved it as well. Thank you for these happy days at your agriturismo!!!

9.2 Excellent
Pros: The hosts are really nice people and very willing to help you have a pleasant stay. I was walking the Via Francigena and Roberto offered to drive me to Aulla to avoid walking on the road. Gratefully accepted.
8.3 Excellent
Pros: Friendly family own this b&b - they have helpful knowledge of the area. Quiet surroundings, two lovely cats, comfortable bed, plentiful breakfast with home-made food. They provided decaff coffee with no problem.
Cons: The place was rather difficult to find and tricky to navigate if you return at night - more obvious signage and better lighting outside would help, The nice kitchen, where breakfast is served, is right next to the downstairs bedroom, and can wake you earlier than you intended, if this is the room you're in.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Beautiful house, clean, very spacious. The family were so friendly. Christina told us all about the area and its traditional food. She prides herself on using local produce and produced a fabulous breakfast with it. Her son also speaks very good English ( neither of them admit it however) and welcomed us on arrival. He made sure everything was just right for us. Roberto was up early to greet guests for breakfast. Super stay.
Cons: Nothing to dislike.

10.0 Excellent
Pros: The castle is a beautiful location nestled in the rolling green hills. This is a spectacular place with huge rooms beautifully equipped and stunningly decorated. The food was amazing and the chef truly talented. The staff were amazingly helpful and welcoming - this truly is a hidden gem and we highly recommend this location and we will certainly be back - a big thanks to everyone at the hotel.
8.8 Excellent
Pros: The rooms and property were lovely. Staff super helpful. Massage was good value. Overal a lovely place but would be perfect if the bed weren't so noisy.
Cons: The bed was terribly squeaky. Every time you turned it made noise. The spa was cute but expensive at 50€/hour. There are a lot of stink bugs, I know they are a problem and hard to deal with.
8.8 Excellent
Pros: The Building itself , how it was restored and the Art inside the Building, specially the wall painting is amazing. A very nice place to relax,
Cons: The waiter doesn't speak a word of English, this is very bad and not to the standard of such an Hotel. Also no protected car park, It's quite far if you want to go to Cinque Terre.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: It’s a fantastic building wonderfully restored
Cons: Nothing
10.0 Excellent
Pros: We literally had the place to ourselves like our own private castle! The staff were treated us like family, they wanted to do everything for us and ensured we felt special. Having the intimate restaurant and the maitre d to ourselves was a very special experience and his eloquence and repartee had us enthralled. This was just a small stop on a massive 25th wedding anniversary trip, but it is definitely the highlight of a tour that would drop a lot of jaws. The location is out of the way, you just hear the rush of the river and the singing of birds, it's a step back in time with all the modern amenities.
Cons: They didn't have a wine list... I'm sure I'd have ordered a bottle of Dom perignon if it was on one!
10.0 Excellent
Pros: clearly exceeded expectations, very clean, very comfortable, very good services
Cons: breakfast was not at the right level - for such a great property
8.8 Excellent
Pros: Truly impressive accommodation in a real castle that has been re-fitted with taste and refinement. We were upgraded to a suite - which was very much appreciated - with big windows affording glorious views to the mountains, comfortable furniture, and elegant furnishings. Breakfast appropriate. We asked for fruit and it was brought. Front desk staff extremely accommodating and helpful.
Cons: The suite was a duplex, with the bedroom and bathroom and toilet upstairs, meaning we were always up and down the stairs. For a two night stay, we had three complementary teabags (!) and one bottle of water, which seems a bit on the skimpy side... No swimming pool yet - but it's coming.

Pros: Silence, air, the scents of the countryside
Cons: I would prefer a higher position and mountain view
10.0 Excellent
Pros: This is a beautiful place, the house and the surrounding were quiet, peaceful and a joy to stay within. I even swam in the pool and really enjoyed it if a little cool. Breakfast is plentiful and the hosts attentive ensuring we had all we required. We enjoyed our evening picnic in the grounds and drinking the estate wine, and time spent with Andrea and his lovely family We may very well be back.
Cons: Rooms and bathroom somewhat small but who cares.
9.2 Excellent
Pros: We enjoyed a historical 130 m2 upstairs appartment in a 16th century house located in beautiful Italian countryside. The location enables day trips to La Spezia and Cinque Terre. The appartment was unique and quiet. Breakfast consisted of local products, for example, farm’s own eggs. Il Bardellino’s wine is also excellent.
Cons: The quiet surroundings mean that there are not many services nearby and moving around requires a car.

Pros: Ilaria was an outstanding host - she really made us feel at home, provided so many useful advices for the trips we took. The place was very nice, quiet with a beautiful garden and pool (which was a surprise for us) - great relaxation after traveling across Tuscany during the days.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The view was incredible! We had the romantic room so we had the view of the Apennines from our window. There were cows and chickens and even a donkey nearby, which was delightful! They were supercute. There was a fridge in the reception full of beer and wine so you didn't have to drive all the way to a shop to get what you need, perfect! Our hostess, Ilaria, was wonderful!! Super sweet and helpful, she gave us great tips on what to do and where to go. She was very warm and welcoming and definitely made me want to visit again.
Cons: Everything was perfect, honestly. It was a travellers paradise.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Heading up the mountain to Quarazzana is an adventure! You are very secluded in this small town, but will have all that you need for a relaxing get away. The food, the views, and the host were spectacular. Every dinner, which is optional, had at last five courses, if not more. One day, we just sat and smelled what was being made. I wouldn't think of finding dinner anywhere else. We couldn't wait for dinner to be served by Leonardo, an accomplished chef. Our host, Ilaria, helped us out getting from the train station and back to it without trouble. We didn't have a car and our host volunteered to take us down the mountain to Fivizzano, a beautiful small town. She then offered tips, including a remote waterfall, for us to see as we hiked back up the mountain. This spot is almost off the map, but if that is what you are looking for, it is well worth it.
8.8 Excellent
Pros: Setting and restoration was marvelous.
Cons: Directions that are unclear.
8.8 Excellent
Pros: Ilaria is a wonderful hostess. The place is beautiful and the food deliciosa
8.3 Excellent
Pros: The agriturismo is located in a tiny old village (with no restaurants or shops, just a few residents and livestock), which the owners are slowly renovating year by year. If you like rustic charm, this place is lovely. Great breakfast with homemade cakes, local cheese and yogurt. The dinner is delicious, homemade food. It is not a restaurant, so you eat whatever is fresh. Ilaria, the owner, is friendly and full of great information about the surrounding areas. There are some nice walks in the area both on the winding road and on trails through the woods.
Cons: The location is beautiful, but it is very isolated. The nearest village is an 8 km drive on windy roads. The water pressure in the shower is not very strong. The dining room is a bit small, so if the place is full it is loud and feels crowded. In the summer time it would be lovely to eat outside in the courtyard with a bit more space.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Everything was just wonderful, we can absolutely recommend this lovely and peaceful place! The dinner was outstanding and service super warm and welcoming! We will come back!
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Immerse yourself in wild Tuscany. Loved the mountain view, food, authenticity of the place. Great host.

Pros: This hotel was more like a bed and breakfast. We ate dinner there both nights, not a single bad dish! And, we had a lot of dishes in addition the price was low... Room was average and clean. Verry home like. Did not use the pool. Fan was provided upon request. The woman there spoke enough English to be very helpful. My wife and I are going to miss the Albergo Il Sicomoro!
Cons: There was no air conditioning and could not get Wi-Fi.
