Large luxury hotel set in extensive grouds just outside of a quite attractive and friendly town. Very pricey spa available on site. Friendly, helpful, English-speaking staff. Sumptuous room with beautiful woodland outlook. Phenomenal buffet breakfast. Great value for money for accomodation of this calibre. The spa facilities were enticing but very expensive.
The bed and the breakfast. Very comfortable. A little bit difficult to reach.
This is a modern and comfortable hotel with excellent facilities There is very little written information available in English. I had to ask for spa prices. There was a golf course, but I've no idea of the cost of a round. The site also has some history behind it, but there was no information in English to guide us.
The hotel has everything. Tranquil setting, private wood, golf, balneario, well signposted so easy to find. Central for visits to Coruña and Santiago. Friendly staff, immpecably clean, great chef. Nothing. Close to perfection as possible.
golf course couldn't use sauna as part of thermal club
Hotel Garelos saved our day. We were booked in at a 4*Hotel in Santiago del Compostella, and owing to road repairs could not access our chosen hotel at all. Thanks to Booking.com they manage to get us a last minute booking at a small hotel in Batanzos, only about 40 minutes in the direction in which we were going. It was only 2 star, but it was clean, comfortable, and friendly, though very little English spoken. This hotel was The Garelos, which also had air-conditioning. Obviously, only being 2* star, we couldn't have an evening meal and Batanzos itself, had very few restaurants available serving food, but hundreds of cafe/bars, only serving coffee and drinks! In answer to the two questions below I would recommend the hotel for anyone in the area needing a base and the second question is not applicable.
A very clean and tidy hotel that is kept to a high standard. The town is small and charming, perfect for a half day visit. The breakfast was extremely sparce. We were given square white bread from an industrial bakery that tasted like cardboard. Surely fresh pastry or bread from the local bakery would not have been too difficult to offer clients?
The staff were helpful polite and very accommodating.Bags were taken to the room and mini bottle of bubbly on our arrival for my birthday. The location was perfect in the centre of town. Rooms were spacious and clean.
We had a large bedroom with very effective air conditioning which was very welcome. The receptionist was friendly, helpful and spoke excellent English. A long walk from either bus or train stations, but there are few hotels in the town. The hotel was located in the newer part of town that was a short walk from the old town we wanted to visit.
Helpful courteous staff. Clean and tidy hotel and rooms.
friendly staff who were helpful and spoke some English; clean, well-designed rooms; modern luxury feel the restaurant only caters for top of the range: expensive wine, lobster and crab menu; there should be a menu that allows for Camino travellers, who are not looking for cordon bleu, but simple Spanish food
Rooms were cold oct 16th
The size of the room Restaurant usually not open. To go to both restaurant and cafeteria one have to go outdoors for approx. 100 m and this is a problem when it is raining. 2 times during the stay there was no hot water in the morning.
