It is located in a nice country village with no disturbances at night and it was convenient for the Dorset Steam Fayre. N/A
very friendly staff and a busy little bar, service in the evening was excellent despite the large party in for a function. nice local crowd, basically down to earth excellent pub with hotel side. the rooms were excellent and the heating had been put on for arrival. can be busy in evening therefore if your looking for peace and quite may not be your first choice. ask youself why they are busy?
Proprietor and staff were very attentive. Very good breakfast. Motel style room and the back of the Inn showed its age. Could do with better decor. However, I would stay again.
Staff very attentive, and good atmosphere
Freindly and helpful staff. Beautiful rooms and good location Nothing
Friendly, choice of real ales! It did not have broadband access or DVD player in room
Very convenient location, food lovely My room was cold and I could not get the radiator to turn on.
the friendlyness of the staff and the rural location the near by houses which seem to let their dogs bark forever in their gardens
We were attending a wedding in the village so the location was ideal. Also the breakfast was good - nothing stunning, but had choice of cereals, toast and also cooked option. Bed was very lumpy and the water pressure in the shower and toilet wasn't great....I think it depended on how many people were using other bathrooms at the time.
The friendly atmosphere, good beer and food. Lots of extras in the room and the honesty bar is very sweet!!! Rooms a little to warm (could be my age) road sign from Shaftsbury covered in folage, could not see in the dark and drove past.
Proprietors very friendly. Room comfortable. Beautiful surroundings.Good breakfast, freshly cooked.
have wifi connection, good full english breakfast, good environment pricy, location is not too easy to find,
It was a delightful place - The view from your room, The rose garden, the fruit orchard, the welcome from the host, the breakfast, etc..................Top mark if you are looking for some where to relax and recharge your body and sole, and to rejuvenate!! Direction was rather poor. It is like a secret Garden, once you find it , it is delightful.
Nice people, wireless, remote setting, working farm, quiet, location near my British cousins, colts and dogs etc to visit and play with Not a warm fuzzy host until we broke the ice with them a bit, tired room, fixed breakfast menu (but they did accomodate our requests)
every good we found toomer farm very good
Very friendly atmosphere, also very quiet surroundings. Excellent Breakfast. None
a warm welcome as it was so late
The location was lovely - very quiet and overlooked open countryside. The actual place was very nice - the room was ok but very outdated, the gardens were the best part! We felt that the people who ran this b&b were just not interested in us. We were not greeted by them when we arrived. Their daughter showed us to our room. No one explained that there was a guest sitting room and where it was or where we went for breakfast. In the morning, we turned up for breakfast and were not asked what we would like to eat - it was just put on the table and we were left to it!!- We felt that the owners just couldnt be bothered with us. Hardly any words were spoken and we were not made to feel very welcome. It just appeared that they werent interested! We left afterwards and just left the key in the bedroom door. Not a 'have a nice day' or goodbye or anything from them - they just kept away in the kitchen. Would not recommend this place to anyone!! We visit a lot of places and have always felt very welcome - this place is just a joke!!! Also the ensuite had the tiniest basin and nowhere to put anything on. Literally very small. Not quite what we expect in this day and age!!
Clean bedding and Towels No use of drawing room as described in advertisments due to the owner having freinds staying!! Should have had discount for this. No view as promised, shower was very poor and a matchbox of a en-suite
Great B&B. Friendly & helpful staff and the cooked breakfast was great. Its well signposted and the grounds are very pretty. The rooms are smallish (for 2 people), but comfortable and clean. The only downside was that the bathroom is quite small and there is very little pressure in the shower, not easy for washing thick long hair!
Very warm welcome, nice atmosphere. Room was a very high standard. Food was delicious.
It is conveniently situated just off the A303. We were going from Kent to a holiday in Torquay and being 81 I did not want to drive all the way in one go. The weather but that's not HL's fault.
The staff were friendly and attentive. The room was very comfortable and the bathroom was very well appointed. Food and wine were good value and the breakfast was outstanding. Nothing all good .
Excellant accomodation and really friendly!! Breakfast was quality and food all round great!! Cheescake was the best! None actually!!
Pleasant friendly staff,a query over the Wincanton racecourse was delt with by telephoning the course for me whilst I had breakfast. Very good room another chair in the bedroom would have been nice instead of 1 chair and a stool,Quiet location. Good food available in the bar at fair price for Pub food .The included breakfast was one of the best you could wish for. When we checked out approx 9 45 am We had to pay the lady who cooked the breakfast as there didn't seem to be anyone else around,This was not a problem but as we had a bar bill plus evening meals put on our account should there have been a query I would have preferd to have had to deal with a member of the management.
Staff friendly and helpful noisy cistern in bathroom, plugs in both sinks didnt fit so water seeped away
Good efficient booking service including directions, good size clean warm room directions, very friendly, efficient and helpful staff Poor lamp shades on the bedside lamps, the low energy bulbs tower above the shades. Breakfast could be an hour late on a Sunday Morning
Quality of service and rooms on offer. Breakfast was excellent.
Everything, staff was very friendly and accommodating. Room was very clean and well decorated. Food in the lodge was well priced and very enjoyable. Would recommend and would definitely stay again, hope to next year
Lovely big flat screen tv, sadly not working
Fantastic! Great staff,v friendly & lovely setting. Food was amazing & loved our stay!
Food excellent and amazing value for money. The wine selection was also surprising diverse. Bathroom one of the best in Brtish hotels. The rooms were clean and didn't smell revolting. Room too warm!
Friendly staff, good food and very comfortable suroundings Room smelt a bit closed up. could do with airing between guests.
Reception and Greeting was very friendly and efficient. Evening meal booked in advance and table was ready, all staff were professional throughout our stay. Food was very good, especially breakfast. Service was excellent. Hotel and room and suroundings were outstanding. Loved all the artwork on display. None
Friendly staff, nice room. Great Shower The food was equisite although the portions perhaps a little small
An excellent hotel, staff, rooms and food, would highly recommend and would definitly visit again.
God rooms, good food, great staff
Country pub/hotel, excellent breakfast, frindly locals.
Comfort of room, quality of food Not the easiest place to find
100% clean and immaculately maintained - well designed Friendly, attentive staff excellent food interesting and friendly locals Slightly hard to find first time (but I was using google directions and everything was under snow)
The overall friendliness of staff lovely room and good cooking recommend highly
The Queens Arms was delightful, nice log fire - very inviting - good food in the bar and a comfortable bed to sleep in - the complimentary breakfast as of a good standard. We had a twin room and it was clean and everything worked - good shower - the only problem I had was that it would have been nice to have had a mirror on the wall near a socket for hairdryer, as when my daughter was in the shower I was wanting to dry my hair in the bedroom and there was no mirror, only a small problem but would have made things easier.
Excellent rooms and food Would have preferred coffe and kettle in room and a bin in bedroom (only a tiny one in bathrooms)
Very comfortable just renovated nice and quiet tremendous food great selection drinks freindly staff Not a typical hotel no tv in room or tea making facilities, more of a gastro pub with beautiful rooms
Extremely charming but not luxurious place, exceptionally good food, very friendly place to stay near Sherborne, grat service. We'll be back!
Excellent food & service. Traditional English country house set in own grounds. Friendly and helpful staff, particularly in restaurant and reception.
.We stayed at this hotel in August and the staff were very friendly We stayed at this hotel in August and the rooms and the reception is very cold, we could have had a fire in the main lounge to warm the place up, the Al carte menu changes every 3 weeks and is very expensive
very relaxed atmosphere
A great hotel and spa The bathroom could due with new carpet ,tiles needed grouting it all just looked tired. The waiter didnt ask us to test the wine or even pour it to keep us topped up,we had to help ourselfs which i think was weak!
Beautiful hotel, and grounds. Lovely quiet swimming pool Bedroom was very cold. At check-in we informed the staff we had to check out at 7:30 and would appreciate being able to have some breakfast at 7. We were told only continental breakfast would be available at this time. Next morning there were no staff on until 7:20 and no breakfast ready. Receptionist's initial attitude was that we must hve misinformed the staff when we checked in.
Small well presented old fashioned country house hotel, good food, good service, seemed better than the 3 stars it has A few details in the room: plug for kettle and hairdryer other side of room, vaguely inconvenient
Fanastic Staff, Lovely Large Rooms, Romantic Setting, Great Facilities, Open Fire, Put at ease from the moment you walk through the door. My only regret is that we didnt find the hotel sooner, as we will definiately be going back.
The room was very comfortable and cosy. Delicious cooked breakfast.
We needed to stay in Wincanton and this hotel exceeded our expectations.
The hotel was in a lovely setting and the room was comfortable and well proportioned. Breakfast was extremely tasty (we had the smoked salmon muffin and scrambled eggs!) It was conveniently situated for our needs. Hidden taxi booking charges!
Tha atmophere of a country house, the furnishings were of the period. As an ex- hotellier I would have liked to seen a few more simple items on the menu. The food was in the main more of on art form than a meal. The filling in the Beef Wellington was too strong for the beef. I ate only once as I was hard pushed on the first night to find anything that appealed. A second night would have been impossible. Other gueasts dining on the first night were found to be eating in the restaurant we chose for the second nights meal. The breakfast were very good. I would question the validity of 2 AA rosettes, (I was an AA inpector for 5 years)
My Daughter and I stayed and were made very welcome, not usual fo 2 women on their own! The single rooms were very good, the food delicious. The dining room was minimuly lit in the evening, could hardly see the food!
Excellent restaurant & breakfast Very cold room and thin bedding
Being able to see the historic town of Sherborne and visit the Abbey church and the two castles
fantastic bathroom great breakfast noisy heating and extract from kitchen
Fantastic service and very friendly and helpful staff. Room was immaculate with great facilities. Food in the restaurant exceptional including the most fantastic cooked breakfast. If we ever return to sherborne would most definitely stay again Thought that £8.50 per night charge for cot excessive and not advised at point of booking only when delivered to room
The kindness and thoughtfulness of the staff
efficiency and friendliness of staff, beautiful setting. Superb food.
Service, food and the general atmosphere No
personell atmosphere, surroundings, within easy reach of Sherborne Abbey, Castles
